Work Text:

Loud loud loud loud. Everything is too loud. Stop. Everyone stop. It needs to stop. now. She needs it to stop. Her head is swimming, the voices, the memories of all she thought she could trust, that she thought she loved. It's too loud.

“No..”

She knows what she needs to do, to get everyone to quiet down. To get them to stop.

Jinx’s vision clears just enough to see the mini-gun of her own design laid out in front of her and in movements too quick for even her own eyes, she grabs it, pulls the trigger, just for a moment, and bullets spray recklessly towards her target. Whatever, whoever, that is. Even she can’t tell.

The bullets stop, her gun slowly stops spinning, and there is silence save for the caws of disturbed crows. Her vision clears more and she sees just who her target was. Vi. The chair her ’sister’ is sitting in slowly turns back around, having been turned by the force of bullets, and Jinx sees just what she has done. Three holes, one in her stomach, one just above her right breast and one in her right shoulder. Smoke and blood pour from the holes and all Jinx can do is stare.

A ear-splitting scream rings out, but she’s too numb to flinch. Caitlyn, the screamer, scrambles to get up from the floor and race to Vi’s side, reaching out to hold the woman she had seemingly grown to love. If Jinx could feel anything right now, she’d be sick.

Everything about the next few minutes blurred together in Jinx’s mind, she can hear Caitlyn speaking, yelling at her, but it sounds muffled, like she’s underwater. Then, both Caitlyn and Vi are gone. She isn’t sure just how long they had even been gone for, how long she had been standing there, stunned, but it breaks with one soft word.

“Jinx.”

There’s a thump as her gun hits the ground, the old wood groaning and cracking under the weight of the thing, but she doesn’t care. Jinx turns and sees Silco, sitting there, her gun in his lap, his fingers wrapped around it. For a moment, she fears he is going to use it on her, but that is quickly snuffed as he places the gun on the table.

“You did the right thing, Jinx.”

Jinx feels her lip quiver, but refuses to let any tears spill. She takes a slow step towards him, then another, then another, until she’s sprinting at him and diving into his lap. The force of her almost knocks Silco’s chair over.

“Did I?” She asks in a voice she barely recognises as her own; it’s rough, scratchy, like she hadn’t used it years.

“Yes. You’ve finally freed yourself.” Beneath her, she can feel Silco’s hands moving, like he was trying to pull them out of the binds. Actually, that’s exactly what he was trying to do. Pulling a knife from her belt, she cuts the binds that held him in place and his hands together. Once freed, his hands find their place on the sides of her face. Surprised, she drops the knife, but quickly she melts into the embrace, her eyes falling shut and peace filling her mind.

“I would have never given you to them, you know that right?”

Jinx opens her eyes to find herself looking directly into Silco’s. He looks so… Jinx can’t quite put her finger on it but it’s almost peaceful.

“Not for anything.” Silco leans into her and rests his forehead on her own.

“Not even for your own kingdom?” Jinx whispers and she closes her eyes once again, unable to hold his powerful gaze.

“You’re worth more than a kingdom of my own ten times over.” He pulls back and grabs her chin with one hand. “I love you, Jinx, more than you’ll ever know.” Then, his lips are upon hers. This kiss is softer, more tender than their one in the waters that night, and it is also much shorter. Silco pulls back before Jinx could even think about reciprocating, and before she could think about kissing him again, he’s speaking.

“I want you, by my side, for now and forevermore, Jinx. You are the only one I truly trust, and that I truly love. Whatever the topsiders bring down on us now, I want you with me for it all.”

Jinx looks down between the two of them, then to behind her, at the mess and chaos of the ‘dinner’ she had planned. The glowing blue of the gem still planted in the cupcake illuminated her face a soft blue. Without turning back, she asks. “Did you really give up the direct path to what you’ve been working at for all these years, for me?”

“Yes, I don’t need the topsiders help with getting what I want, all I need is you.” He answers, and that answer cements her own. She turns back to him and plants a quick kiss upon his lips.

“Then yes, I wanna stay by your side.”

Her mood brightened, she slid off his lap and skips towards the blue gem, plucking it off the frosting, then towards a cloth covered heap on the ground. Silco stands and follows. Pulling back the cover reveals her prize, her masterpiece.

“I think there’s a way we can speed up your dream.” Jinx says as she opens up a glass panel. Silco stares with wide eyes.

“You did it? You weaponised the hextech?”

“Yep.” She says, popping the P cheerfully. She turns and looks up at him, a wide, toothy grin plastered on her face. “I named him ‘Fishbones’, cause he’s a shark, see?” She slips the gem into place, shuts the panel and hauls the rocket launcher onto her shoulder. The launcher glows blue as it powers itself up, the runes inscribed flashing and pulsing with energy. Using the handle, she jiggles the weapon up and down a bit, making the metal jaw she added move like it was talking. Jinx giggles at her own joke.

“I love it.”

Her eyes light up. She grins again then grabs his hand, pulling him towards the ramp leading up to the absolute top of the old, collapsed building. From where the two were standing, the whole of Piltover could be seen, and the tallest building of them all, standing out like a beacon. The blood red moon overhead seemed all too fitting.

Jinx took her time to ready her shot, making sure it was absolutely perfect. With the only person she truly cared about standing right next to her, she pulled the trigger.
