You laid on your back as you waited patiently for Saiki to apply some sunscreen onto your back. You heard him squeeze out two quarters of cream. Although, you assumed he squirted some onto his hand since you didn’t feel any touch on your back. Now, since you’re not exactly used to the sunscreen being lathered against your back, you naturally let a startled gasp slip out of your mouth.
Saiki stopped lathering your back midway through when he heard your surprised gasp, full-on digusted by the noise you just made. His eyebrows furrowed and he stared down at you with a disturbed frown on his face.
“Could you at least try and not make this any more awkward than it already is?” You pouted slightly after hearing Saiki’s unexpected and disrespectful comment. You decided to not respond to him as an answer. “I’m serious... Oh come on, don’t give me that look.”
“Hmph,” You rolled your eyes under Saiki’s gaze that gradually changed the more you two sat in silence. He started looking at you with a more neutral look while you laid there on your stomach. “You’re making it sound like it’s my fault for reacting like that. You know that I’m not used to sunscreen touching my back. It’s cold, you know.”
“Ah, you’re right. Sorry about that, _____.”
“It’s okay. Just warn me when you’re going to put some more on my back, okay?”
Saiki nodded his head once and resumed lathering your backside with the cream. Once he was done with your backside, he grabbed the sunscreen bottle and popped open the cap. “Turn over.” “…What?”
“I’m done with your back. I’m going to do the front now—” “No!”
“Huh? Why not?” “What if something… happens? Because of it?”
You quickly turned away from Saiki, your face was basically full of nervousness. There were a lot of things that could possibly go wrong with the idea of Saiki rubbing sunscreen against your frontside—and on a public beach, to be specific. For starters, they’d get a lot of stares nearby, someone from school might pass by and see! Hell! World War III might even break out! You quickly shake your head at the thought of all those horrible things.
Saiki, meanwhile, just gave you a deadpan. A lot of those things wouldn’t happen anytime soon. He could easily just teleport the both of you to a private island, away from potential disasters like people crowding around you like a stampede and whatnot.
Saiki sighed and just squirted another two quarters of sunscreen onto his hand. He closed the bottle and started rubbing his hands to get a good lather going. While he did that, he looked down at you. “None of that will happen. Trust me. Just turn over so that you’re on your back.”
You turned around to face Saiki, your lucky boyfriend and the love of your life. Feeling a little skeptical about Saiki’s answer, you hesitated to turn over and decided to ask just to confirm. “Are you sure, Saiki-kun?”
A simple nod confirmed your answer.
You went ahead and laid down on your back. And now you could see Saiki’s gorgeous face.
Once he was done rubbing his hands together, he reached for your stomach to start rubbing the sunscreen there. He lifted the bottle with telekinesis and placed it in between his legs since his hands were occupied with cream.
Just as he was about to lather your stomach with sunscreen, a few very familiar voices could be heard from afar.
“Oh! Is that my buddy over there?! Buddy! Hey Buddy!”
“Oh Saiki-kun! Hi there! It’s nice to see you!”
“Hi Saiki-kun! We’ve been looking for you!”
The both of you stiffened all of a sudden.
Nendou, Kaidou, and Teruhashi began approaching you both without a clue that you were both here to get some relaxation. Not too mention the fact that you’re also both dating.
Neither of you moved an inch. And then, the sunscreen that was still on Saiki’s started to stream down his arms. He decided to ignore them and just focus on you instead.
Saiki regained his composure and continued lathering your frontside with sunscreen, starting from the stomach and then working his way up and down to your legs just like before. You soon regained your composure as well, relaxing into his touch.
“Just ignore them…” You heard Saiki say to you telepathically.
You give him a strained smile and glance over at the three nervously before looking away from them. “…Right. I’ll, um… I’ll try.”
After a while of walking, the three finally arrived under you and Saiki’s umbrella. They all sat down on the sand. And for the first few seconds they sat on the sand right next to the towel you and Kusuo shared, Nendou and Kaidou kept saying “oh” repeatedly because of Teruhashi’s endless radiant beauty.
Nendou was just being... Nendou. Kaidou then began to ramble on about the “Dark Reunion” and about his so-called powers endlessly, his hero complex was definitely showing. And then Teruhashi’s glow slowly made your self-esteem drop.
For a while, they continued on with the same thing. That was until Saiki was finally finished covering you with sunscreen.
After he was done with the sunscreen, he grabbed your hand and smiled ever-so softly at you before standing up. You stood up along with Saiki, taking his hands in your own hands before squeezing them. Together, the both of you started towards the beach, ignoring all three of your friends for a pretty long while.
You splashed Saiki with some water with some of the water clinging to your beautiful skin. The water splashed Saiki, which made him take a step forward to splash you back. You giggled and started running away from Saiki as he made his way towards you, water clinging to his skin as well.
Nendou and Kaidou quietly observed you both as a couple. And naturally, they were shocked. As for Teruhashi, I’m sure you could guess. That’s right, she was internally malfunctioning.
“Oh, is my buddy actually dating someone? Oh?”
“I-I don’t have any words. Saiki-kun’s actually dating someone and it’s ____.”
‘SAIKI-KUN’S DATING ____?! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?! I-I was going to try dating him. This isn’t fair. This has to be a joke. Wait a minute—IT’S NOT! Saiki-kun... he’s actually smiling!’
You and Saiki step close to one another, then grab each other’s hands. You both lean closer to each other’s face and then…. you kiss. It was a quick kiss since you didn’t want to attract any more attention than you already did.
Time slowly passes by until…
“See you at school, Saiki-kun!”
“See ya later at school, buddy!”
“Bye Saiki-kun! Bye _____!”
Nendou, Teruhashi, and Kaidou walked away from the couple that was you and Saiki. Their figures slowly faded away, leaving just the two of you alone.
Saiki looked at you and held out his arms, wanting to embrace you silently. You smiled at his silent gesture and then ran into his arms. You were now in Saiki’s arms, slightly above the ground since you were being held up by Saiki himself.
Saiki felt himself chuckling quietly which made you raise your eyebrows. “Saiki-kun—”
“…I love you, ____. I’m so glad to have you close to me, to be by your side and to just be your girlfriend.”
You gasped and then smiled brightly at Saiki, your cheeks slowly warmed up.
“Ah... I love you too, Kusuo-kun. I love you so so much. You’re the greatest and I’m glad I have you in my life.”
That wasn’t the first time you’ve heard him speak and this most likely won’t be the last.
Saiki felt his cheeks warm up as well. He started to deny the fact that he was blushing and he just assumed it was his pyrokinesis acting up. You naturally assumed that as well. In truth, it was just him blushing. I mean, he couldn’t help it. You were just so… gorgeous. And you could say the same for him.
You got closer to Saiki’s face until your lips were finally touching his own lips. This time, for sure, you two kissed like you meant it. There wasn’t any tongue since you two were testing the waters, it was just passionate. It was like a “True Love’s kiss” or something. Actually it definitely was a “True Love’s kiss.”
Saiki hoisted you up slightly since he felt you slip out of his arms a little bit. You wrap your legs around Saiki so that you wouldn’t slip out of his arms. You pulled away from Saiki, a big smile was still on your face.
“At first, this whole dating and couple thing seemed a bit weird to me. But after a while, I enjoyed being with you so much more than I did when I first met you by the cherry trees. I’m surprised I didn’t notice you back when we were first years.”
“Well, I didn’t really attract attention in the first place so it’s not surprising to me. And dating is just the start. You’ll probably think that this’ll be even more weird if and when we decide to marry each other when we’re older.”
“Marriage, huh? Ah… Now I’m actually looking forward to that. I can’t wait for when the time comes. It’ll be an experience for the both of us.”
“You’re definitely right about that. I can’t even begin to imagine how things would go from us graduating after high school, let alone getting married. I’m really excited for that day.”
