"So, what do you think?" Sunghoon stands there, eyes wide and hopeful, smile hesitant yet dazzling as he waits for Heeseung to speak.
But Heeseung can't speak. He can't even move.
Who the hell came up with the idea of blonde Sunghoon?
The younger's face wanes. "Is it that bad?" Heeseung blinks once, twice, and then his hands are coming up to wave the boy off reassuringly. "No! No, it's wonderful."
And it is. Heeseung can't help but stare a little longer, admiring the way Sunghoon's hair casts off a silken glow under the hair salon lights. Today is the day the members get their new makeover, and Heeseung would've been excited if it didn't mean he had to wake up before the sun did. The new, bright red hair he sports now makes it worth the while, he supposes. And the suspenseful excitement of seeing Sunghoon in his new hair may or may not have played a great part in his motivation to get out of bed that morning.
He steps closer to the younger boy, hands coming up to slowly dig his fingers through the dampened, ivory locks. A loving smile seeps into his face. "So pretty."
He watches Sunghoon's face flush pink, eyes darting to the floor before his head cranes up to beam at Heeseung. "Thanks, hyung." Then he feels the younger tiptoe up to place a soft kiss to his cheek. "Red suits you," he murmurs against reddened cheekbones before pulling away, eyes crinkling, and shuffling past Heeseung to gasp at the newly emerged Jake from the doorway. "Jakey! Your hair!"
Heeseung closes his eyes, wills his heart not to palpitate out of his ribcage, and turns to greet Jake with a wide smile.
"Must you do that while we're eating?" Jungwon sighs as he stuffs a baby carrot into his mouth, eyeing Heeseung wearily. "Must I do what?"
"Look, I get that you can't go one minute without fawning over Sunghoon's hair—" Heeseung rolls his eyes at this, "—but you really can't let us catch a break?"
"I don't mind," Sunghoon mumbles around a mouthful of rice, cheeks dusted pink as he stares into his bowl. Jay grins. "He says he doesn't mind, Wonie. Leave the lovebirds be."
The raven-haired boy's grin grows as Sunghoon splutters over his rice. "What," Heeseung pipes up, desperate to salvage matters before they blow even more out of proportion. "Can't I give our new hair a little love?"
"So where's my compliment, hyung?" Sunoo pouts at him from across the table, Ni-ki schooling into the same expression beside him. "Yeah, hyung. Where's mine?"
5 choruses of "Where's my compliment?" send Heeseung's mind into overdrive as he smiles and acknowledges each hairstyle with sweet words. "There, there. Happy?"
Grumbles of half-hearted agreement makes Heeseung sigh out in exasperation. "Whatever." He picks up his chopsticks with pursed lips, digging into his ramyeon. "So many compliments, and all this time I haven't even gotten any." He stuffs the noodles into his mouth, chewing slowly.
"You look good, hyung." Heeseung promptly chokes on his ramyeon, momentarily burying his head into his bowl. "Heeseung—!"
"Heeseung hyung, are you okay?" The older looks up and manages a watery smile as he downs half of his water in attempts to calm his short-circuiting brain. "Wow, your face looks just like your hair!" Heeseung glares at Jake, who laughs and raises his hands in apology.
He pats his mouth softly with a napkin, stealing a glance at Sunghoon beside him. The younger pointedly stares into his water, taking baby sips to try to hide his embarrassment. Heeseung smiles against his napkin, reaching over to ruffle the younger's hair endearingly.
A clang of metal against ceramic makes Heeseung look over with startled eyes, watching as Jungwon shakes his head with a moan. "A moment of peace, please." Heeseung chuckles, blows a silent raspberry and tugs Sunghoon by his waist, hard enough for the younger boy to fall onto his lap. "Hyung—!" Sunghoon hides his face behind his sweater paws, now successfully maneuvered between the older boy's legs. Heeseung laughs and pecks his cheek.
"We're peaceful, aren't we, Hoon?" His smile grows as he watches Sunghoon nod into his hands, and he bursts into cackles when he catches Sunoo and Ni-ki making disgusted faces.
"You two are—" Jay sighs, downing his coke before standing to clear the dishes away, "—hopeless." Jake shakes his head and stands as well, motioning for Jungwon to wipe away the table. "Utterly hopeless," the blue-haired leader echoes as he trudges into the kitchen.
"Finish your food, Hoonie," Heeseung whispers into the younger boy's pink ears as he rests his chin against his shoulder, arms wrapping around a slim waist.
"You look good, too."
Heeseung's just about done patting his hair dry when his door swings open and in comes a wet-haired Sunghoon, blonde locks clustered and cutely draped over his eyes. A towel hangs around his shoulders, and in his hand lies a blow dryer. "Hyung, could you dry my hair for me?"
He must have stayed a little too silent, because the younger boy's eyebrows scrunch up in dismay. "Hyung?"
"Yes? Oh—Hoon, sorry, I—" Heeseung stumbles over his words, feeling heat creep up his neck as he stands up and walks over to Sunghoon, smile giddy. "I got lost in your hair again. God, it looks so good." His hands brush over Sunghoon's face before he plants a kiss square on his lips. "You look so good."
Sunghoon's hopelessly red when he pulls away, mouth parted in a little 'o' before he looks away, abashed. "T-thank you." And Heeseung smiles smugly as he leads the younger to sit on the edge of his bed.
He carefully positions himself behind Sunghoon, slipping the towel off his shoulders before dropping it onto his hair. Sunghoon gasps as it falls over his eyes, laughing when he's suddenly barreled into. Heeseung's hands slip under the boy's t-shirt to tickle goosebumped skin, and he happily listens to little shrieks of delight as Sunghoon writhes away from his grasp. "Heeseung!"
"All right, all right." Heeseung's cheeks hurt from how wide his smile has stretched to, patting Sunghoon's hair down dry before plugging in the blow dryer.
The soft telltale click of the power button, and then a faint hum buzzes around them as Heeseung gently cards his fingers through the younger boy's hair, directing the hot air to his palm before pointing it towards Sunghoon.
"Have I told you how much I love you?" He murmurs as he combs through, gently blowing Sunghoon's hair dry. The younger hums, leaning into the touch. "No."
Heeseung scoffs lightly, and Sunghoon giggles into the air. "Kidding. I get that at least once every hour. Twice if you're feeling extra lovey-dovey." His scoff turns into a soft exclamation of surprise. "C'mon, I'm not that desperate."
Sunghoon snorts.
"Okay, maybe a little. You deserve it, though. You deserve the world, and more." Heeseung bends over to press a kiss into the younger boy's warm hair, breathing in the soft, citrus scent. "I love you so much."
Sunghoon turns to face him, hand removing the blow dryer from his hands before powering it off and throwing it aside. "I love you too," he whispers, breath dancing over Heeseung's lips before he leans in a little further, soft lips meeting with a mellowed passion.
Heeseung smiles, allowing the younger to pepper micro-soft kisses onto his lips before he pipes up. "Hoon—"
Said younger interrupts him with another kiss. "Your hair, it's still—"
Sunghoon shakes his head, hands wrapping around his neck as the younger boy pulls him closer. "It'll manage."
Heeseung exhales into him, hands roaming up a small back, feeling fingers close around his hair, gripping softly. His mouth parts just a little wider, humming when Sunghoon answers with a sliver of tongue.
They sit there, the younger boy in his lap, quietly enjoying the sweet intimacy of this moment, freely allowing their minds to be clouded with the thought of the other, nothing else but them.
Heeseung pulls away after, chuckling in endearment as Sunghoon chases after with a soft whine. "We gotta get ready for bed."
The boy sighs, and nods, not hesitating to place another chaste kiss to Heeseung's lips before falling onto the bed with a huff. Heeseung beams, and moves to roll up the blow dryer.
He thinks of travelling back to the bathroom to avoid having to do it tomorrow, but the inviting warmth of sleeping with his boyfriend right there—waiting for him to reach out for it—compels him to place the blow dryer onto the desk and run back over to the younger boy, clambering over to trap him underneath.
Sunghoon smiles, hands reaching to cup Heeseung's cheeks. "My beautiful, talented Heeseung." The older boy tries to hide his pleased smile, instead nosing his way into Sunghoon's neck, breathing in deeply. "I love you."
"I love you too. Good night." And Heeseung finally settles himself beside Sunghoon, cradling the boy's head against his chest, hazy mind committing the sensation of roving over soft, ivory locks to memory before his breath evens, and sleep blankets over them.
