Work Text:
The first day of December arrived with a painful thud against the doorframe. Sasha immediately jumped up, and two things ran through her mind; someone just fell and died or something just fell and died. Pulling on some track pants, he bolted downstairs only to be met with an odd sight. Anne was squished in the doorframe and Marcy was giving Sasha a sheepish grin. Stuck between the house and the porch, a large pine tree sprawled out. Sasha folded her arms.
“What happened?” Anne opened and shut her mouth, and Marcy was struggling to come up with an explanation for the scene they’d created.
“Well you see Sasha, Anne and I wanted to surprise you with a Christmas tree-”
“But we had no idea how heavy it would be.” Marcy and Anne shared a look, and Marcy awkwardly laughed while Anne’s eyes met the ground. Sasha stood in the kitchen dumbfounded.
“You bought an entire Christmas tree, only to realise you can’t even carry it?!”
“That’s actually a pretty good explanation.” Anne muttered. Marcy was still standing, awkward as ever. Sasha gave a sigh.
“I’ll free you from the door Anne. Marcy, stand back.” She cracks her knuckles, and begins hauling the massive tree across the floor. With the tree out of the door, Anne walked into her house, and collapsed on the ground. Anne looks up at Marcy.
“Mission unsuccessful, Mar-Mar.” She sighed. Marcy sat by her.
“There’s always next year, Anne.” They say. She nodded, and a mischievous look came over both of their faces.
“We can probably carry the decorations though.” Sasha moved over to the two.
“Decorations?” He asked. Marcy nodded.
“Yup! Anne and I wanted to decorate a Christmas tree, and we decided it would make a great girlfriend bonding time.” Anne gave her the thumbs up. Sasha looked like he was about to protest, until she offered both his hands out.
“How about you let me carry in the decorations?”
…
“Marcy, I really don’t get these ‘Mariah Carey defrosting’ jokes.” Sasha said, while slipping a bauble over a branch. Marcy gasped, and clenched a hand over her heart. Sasha looked over at Anne, who was laughing.
“You really need to catch up with pop culture Sasha.” Anne said. Sasha rolled her eyes.
“At least I’m not addicted to my phone.”
“Says the overachiever.” Sasha grabbed Anne by the waist and pushed her onto the couch. She squealed and Marcy rolled their eyes.
“Play fighting after the tree is finished guys,” Marcy said. Sasha glanced over at Marcy, and then the tree.
“It looks pretty done to me.”
“Dude, there isn’t a star.”
“Put Anne up there or something.”
“HEY!” It was too late for Anne, and Sasha lifted her up and moved towards the tree. Marcy grabbed Sasha's arm.
“No putting our girlfriend up the tree.” Marcy said sternly. Sasha’s jaw fell open.
“But she’s a star!” Sasha argued.
“She will fall off the tree and break all her bones!” The other person said.
“I don’t like where this conversation is headed.” Anne screeched. Marcy glared at Sasha, until she gave in and put Anne back on the couch. As Marcy fiddled with the star, Anne moved closer to Sasha, and he put an arm around her.
“You think I’m a star?” Anne asked. Sasha looked at her like she’d asked if the sky was blue.
“Obviously! You are a star, Marcy’s the sun and I’m the moon.” She replied. Anne laughs and settles further into her girlfriend.
“You’ve put a lot of thought into that.” She said softly. Sasha nodded.
“Hey ya goofs! Look at the star!” It was blue, and the white wall behind it had a hue of light around it. Marcy jumped onto the couch, and the three admired the hard work they’d all put in.
“Merry Christmas.” Marcy said.
“It’s the first of December, and we haven’t even eaten breakfast.” Sasha pointed out. Marcy shrugged and Anne laughed.
“Still Christmas season Sash.” Marcy high-fived Anne, and Sasha face-palmed. Yup, Christmas was definitely here.
