Luz is trying to make hot chocolates for her girlfriends, but she can't cook. At all. Luckily Eda gives her a hand, or so she thinks...

Notes:

TW: Small joke about drugs

I cannot believe how long it's taken me to post something in TOH, so hi fellow Owl House nerds! Yeah, have some Christmas content everybody, and enjoy :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Luz Noceda has many specialties, knowing everything there is to know about Five Nights at Freddy’s, making My Hero Academia and lots of mythical creatures. However, working in the kitchen is not one of them. Currently the state of Owl House’s kitchen is a total mess. Brown powder is scattered across the counter, the pot is running away and Luz is on the verge of completely giving up. Her ever so supportive friend, King, was laughing at the whole situation.

“Luz, how are you this hopeless at making hot chocolate?” He asked, sipping the boiling isle’s equivalent of the drink the kid was attempting to make. Luz inhaled deeply.

“It’s a lot harder than it looks. You have to heat the milk, add the powder, stir it, heat the drink without putting the spoon in-”

“What the hell happened to my kitchen?” Eda asked, strolling leisurely into the room. King and Luz shared a look.

“Luz is trying to make hot chocolates for Amity and Willow, they’re coming later on.” The demon explained. Luz gave her mentor a thumbs up. Eda stared at them blankly.

“Hot-what?” She asked.

“Hot chocolate, it’s the human version of beetleroot stew.” Eda made an ‘oh’ sound in recognition. King snorted.

“She’s trying too hard to impress her girlfriends-”

“Are you ever going to stop teasing me about my relationship?” She asked. King shook his head, and shuffled over to the mess on the counter. Eda joined him, and they examined the mess Luz called ‘hot chocolate’.

“Well, it’s not too bad. It just needs something to spice it up.” Eda ran to one of the drawers, and grabbed a jar of something. She sprinkled a pinch of it into the drink, and stirred them.

“What was that?” Luz asked her. Eda snorted.

“Drugs.”

“EDA!” Luz looked scandalized. Eda laughed and patted her back.

“I’m kidding, just something to make it a little less sweet- I know exactly what you eat and how unhealthy it is.” The kid punched Eda, and her mentor ruffled her hair.

“Well, I’ve got to work on my harpy form. Good luck with your girlfriends, Luz. King, make sure they don’t go hyper and ruin my stuff.” She said. King and Luz fake saluted, and they were left to their own devices.

Hooty let Luz and King know Amity and Willow had arrived by letting out a tremendous squawk.

“HOOT! WATCH IT!” He screeched. Luz rushed to the door and swung it open, revealing a shaken up Amity and unimpressed Willow. Luz wrapped into a hug.

“Welcome, Amity, Willow!” She said, fully aware she was blushing. Willow gave her a wave, and Amity’s eyes were downcast and a light pink dusted her cheeks. She ushered the two inside, and the three sat on the couch. Willow seemed to spot the drinks.

“Oooh, are those for us Luz?” The kid in question’s eyes lit up.

“Yup! They took a lot of emotional and physical labor, so enjoy my blood sweat and tears.” Willow laughed and Amity gave a small smile.

“I can’t tell whether you’re joking or not.” Amity teased lightly. Luz flexed her tiny muscles.

“You’ll never know, Blight.” She said, winking. The purple-haired girl blushed, and Luz followed in suit.  King and Willow looked at each other.

“So cheesy,” King said, glaring at them. Luz stuck her tongue out.

“I agree, so in love without me.” She said dramatically, flopping onto the couch. Amity and Luz looked at their girlfriend.

“Never without you, Willow. Now please appreciate my drinks, they took so much effort.” Luz begged. The girls took their cups, and took a sip. While Willow politely spat hers back into her cup, Amity’s saliva flew halfway across the room. Luz stared at them with a horrified expression.

“Luz, I can taste dirt, what did you put in this?” Amity said, wiping at her tongue. It took Luz a second to realise.

“EDA! WHAT DID YOU PUT IN THIS?”

“DIRT!” And that was the last time Luz asked Eda for help around the kitchen.

Notes:

Just something small to get in the Christmas spirit. This year, I started listening to Christmas songs in the middle of November (that says a lot about my personality). Have a WONDERFUL day/night, and hopefully see you soon!
