Marcy and Sasha are big on snow. When the first flake drifts from the sky, they grab their coats and dart outdoors, leaving poor Anne indoors. This winter, however, is going to be different. Sasha and Marcy have decided to try and coax Anne outside, and get her to enjoy the snow. The plan was put into motion on a cold December morning, when the garden was painted thickly with snow. As Anne ate her breakfast, Sasha and Marcy not-so subtly moved over to Anne.
“Why, what a wonderful day it is, dearest Marcy!” Sasha exclaimed, opening the curtains and showing off the snowy landscape beyond. Anne huffed, not even registering it.
“Indeed it is Sasha!” They replied, moving closer to the window. Sasha and Marcy both snuck a glance at Anne, who was not paying attention to anything they were saying. The blonde nodded, and Marcy walked over to Anne.
“Oh dearest Anne, how we would love to spend this gorgeous day outside with you!” Marcy said.
“Marcy, I am not feeling it today. Just let me sit in front of the heater, please?” Just as Marcy was about to reply, Anne’s Father walked into the room, hot chocolate in hand.
“Hey kids, beautiful day outside isn’t it?” He said. Marcy grinned.
“Yes Mr. Boonchuy, what a shame Anne doesn’t want to join her two girlfriends for a day in the snow.” Marcy’s voice was unintentionally dejected, and she noticed both father and daughter give her a sad look.
“Anne, go outside with Marcy and Sasha, you can build snowmans. Oh, that would make such a good picture!” Mr. Boonchuy started opening cabinets, searching for his prized camera. Anne immediately stood up, and ran over to her dad.
“Dad! I have seasonal depression!” She protested. This was true, the reason Anne usually stayed inside was because she was very often feeling blue.
“Binge watching ‘Suspicion Island’ isn’t going to make your depression disappear.” He replied, continuing his search. Sasha gave Anne a pat on the shoulder.
“C’mon, it’ll be fun!” The girl sighed, looking up at Sasha.
“Fine, but only for a little bit.” Marcy and Sasha whooped. Within minutes, Anne was dressed in a warm coat and a bright blue beanie, and was being pulled out of the door by her overly eager girlfriends.
…
Fifteen minutes later, Anne was lying on the ground having a fit of laughter. The cause? The snowman the three of them had tried to create. It was sloping dangerously close to the ground, and looked like it needed a break. They had dubbed their creation ‘Sashannarcy’s Mental State’ and hadn’t stopped laughing since. The three were lying on the cold ground, beside one another. Sasha snuck a look over at his girlfriends, and smiled when she saw them crying with laughter and joy.
“C’mon guys, don’t lie on the ground or you’ll get sick.” Sasha said. He offered her hands, and Anne and Marcy and Anne both took one each. As they stood laughing in the snow, Sasha got a devilish idea. He rolled a snowball, and surreptitiously lobbed it in the two’s direction. With a satisfying crash noise, it hit both girlfriends. Anne and Marcy gasped, and dropped to their knees. Sasha saw this as a sign to run, and she was glad when he hid behind a tree, because snowballs fired at her from all sides.
“SASHA WAYBRIGHT! YOU WON’T GET AWAY WITH THIS!” Marcy shouted. Sasha retaliated, and soon it was Marcanne vs. Sasha. The victorious team was Marcanne, after pelting the poor person in snow. Sasha grumbled, and brushed the snow off him.
“Good game dudes!” Anne said, giving them both a thumbs up. Marcy high-fived her and Sasha rolled her eyes.
“I’ll get you both next time.” He swore. Anne rolled her eyes.
“Like hell you will.” The girl said. Sasha and Anne glared, before giggling. Marcy stared at them.
“Well, I'm glad you enjoyed our snowfight. Now, can we go inside, it’s freezing and I swear I’ll die of hypothermia.” They asked. Sasha agreed by shivering.
“Yeah, let’s go inside and convince Anne’s Dad to make us hot chocolates.” Sasha replied. While Marcy raced ahead, Anne and Sasha hung back, holding hands. As the three headed inside, Mrs. Boonchuy observed how they all looked at each other. She smiled to herself, the way her daughter looked at Sasha and Marcy reminded her of how she looked at her Husband.
