Chapter 1: The Street

Chapter Text

“ Nothing lasts forever. Forever's a lie. All we have is what’s in hello and goodbye "

A pair of blue eyes stared at the children of his age who were cheerfully playing together. Laughing, smiling, happy... How does it feel? Sometimes he hopes (really) that one day he can do it  freely without having to lose many things, just like them. He's jealous of that.

DUK

All of a sudden the ball that the boy was playing with rolled towards him. For a few seconds he looked at the ball with a surprised look. Did they invite him to play with them? Is he finally considered to become the part of their 'friend'? A small smile began to be painted on his face. Slowly he began to pick up the ball. Maybe, it's still not late-

“Ugh, why did you kick the ball over there? So it hit the child, right?"

DEG

The smile suddenly disappeared from his face. His body was glued to the spot.

"I told you I didn't mean to. How do I know if it turns out that the ball will be taken by him. I don't know what he will do when he gets angry. You know what his family is like, right?"

"Tch! He must be just like them. I'm sure of that."

"Same. Come on, let's find another game. The ball has been taken by him. I don't want to risk my peaceful life because of it y'know,"

"Good idea. Let's go."

The children whispered as they walked away from him. Even though now there was only him alone, the whispers could still be heard clearly by him. Haunting his mind. His chest tightened, and he felt his eyes begin to water. The boy started to catch his breath.

Don't worry, haven't you been treated like this many times? hold on,

Don't cry, don't let anyone see,

Stay strong. Stay strong. Stay strong-

“Aguero, are you all right?”  called a male voice from behind him, successfully startling him in an instant. Then Aguero was silent for a moment. He knew the owner of this voice. One of the people who at least 'cared' for him. And sure enough, it was Lero Ro (also known as Pak Ro) who was staring at him. He seemed to have witnessed it all. Judging from the look on his face that is… complicated. Aguero didn't know what to call it.

"... yes." Aguero replied without looking back because his eyes were probably already bloodshot. And for sure, he will look very messy in front of Mr Ro and he doesn't want Mr Ro to know about it.

"Are you sure ?" Lero Ro is  starting to approach him. A glint of worry appeared in his eyes.

“Yes, I am absolutely fine, Mr. Ro. Thank you for worrying about me.” A smile appeared on his face, as if nothing had ever happened to him. Lero Ro was silent. Then his yellow eyes turned to the ball that the blue boy in front of him was holding.

His hands trembled.

‘He… is holding it huh…’

Lero Ro thought as he saw it. Then he glanced at the boys, this time they were playing another game on the other side of the field regardless. Even his eyes caught some of them whispering while pointing at where he and Aguero were.

Huff,  kids.

The grown man's gaze turned to Aguero again. He sighed, then he clapped his hand on the little boy's shoulder. Aguero looked at him with a confused look.

"Hey kid, you should know that if you need help, don't hesitate to come to me, ok?" Lero Ro stared straight at Aguero. Aguero looked hesitant, but in the end he just nodded his head slowly. Having had enough, Lero Ro ruffled the boy's hair one last time before he let him go.

From a distance Lero Ro watched Aguero who took the ball away with him. After that, he disappeared.

"Oh, it's raining..."

Currently the children are in their respective classes waiting for their parents to pick them up. Many of them gathered near the heater because it was warmer there. Quant, one of the teachers there made hot chocolate drinks and distributed them.

“HEIII KIDDO~! I MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE ! IF  YOU WANT TRY TO TAKE IT FROM ME NEWBIE!” he shouted riotously as he brought a large teapot filled with hot chocolate to the classroom. Behind him was Lero Ro who was carrying a lot of mini glasses. In an instant the children in the class immediately ran towards Quant. Ah, or rather lunged at him.

"Ouch ! You guys calm down, it will spill later! Ro! Help me please!" Quant looked at Lero Ro who was sipping tea, looking for help. But Lero Ro just stayed where he was and watched it. There was a smirk on his face.

"Hmm...Nope. This is my revenge for you being absent so often. Now feel my pain taking care of them alone.” he said with satisfaction while chuckling seeing Quant struggling to withstand the attacks of the barbarian kids in front of him.

On the other hand, Aguero was busy looking out the window instead. It's not raining as hard outside, so it seems like if he goes out now it's okay? If he ran fast enough he might be able to get home before it started raining again. After all, there was no point in him lingering in a class that almost entirely hated his existence.

In addition, as long as he waits here,

No one will come to pick him up.

Without wasting any time Aguero grabbed his bag and headed for the exit. But before he could do that,

"Are you going home already?" Lero Ro asked him. Unlike before this time Aguero looked towards the source of the voice.

"Yes. The rain isn't too heavy either." he said in an even tone. For a moment he looked at Lero Ro who was looking at him with a…complicated look. Just like before. But it only lasted for a few seconds and was soon replaced by his usual smile.

"...In that case, okay. Be careful not to get sick."

Aguero nodded his head slowly in response. He stepped out of there and walked away.

The sky began to darken again as he was on his way home.

The first drops began to fall, leaving marks on the road in front of him.

The second drop started to follow it after that.

Then the third, fourth, and so on. At first it was slow and small, but over time the droplets became heavier and heavier. It gave no other option for Aguero to speed up his pace. From walking to running. Now he could feel the rain seeping into the clothes he was wearing.

He continued to run without paying attention to his surroundings, focusing ahead, until without realizing he had entered the highway. The street light, which was originally red, turned green. The roar of the vehicle was heard, but it was too late.

After that he saw  the flash of a car speeding towards him. Accompanied by the sound of the horn echoing.

Everything seemed to move slowly.

The last thing he remember ,everything went dark.
