It's a warm-up piece after a long break from writing fanfiction.
The story is set right after the Hide-and-Seek Test, with Khun brooding alone in his room. I’ve woven in an original backstory for Khun and Maria, drawing loosely from hints in the original manhwa since I wanted to dive into their past.
As for the nature of Khun and Maria’s relationship — since the original gives us very little about Maria — feel free to interpret it however you like! Whether you see it as romantic or platonic, both are totally fine~
While the plot mostly follows the original comic, I’ve taken creative liberties and altered some scenes. There may be OOC moments and logical inconsistencies. Please blame my bad writing instead of the original characters orz.

"Agnis’ child," he murmured cradling the nearly dead unborn child through the shinsu he used as protection. "Calling you Agnis would be too cruel. Calling you anything else would be disregarding the love Mother must have felt."
He connected the barely living creature to himself, pressing her gently, the last member of his family, to his chest, tight with pain.
"If you live, child, I will call you Agnes."

Despite having no memories of his life before meeting Bam, Aguero has managed to establish his spot at Bam's side; not only guiding him as his tactician, but as his partner and eventually husband.
But years after building this new life, as a supposedly unwinnable war against the Great Families and Jahad looms before them, Aguero begins dreaming of Bam's death at his hands.
"Aguero!"
Bam's voice dragged Aguero from his dream, his tether to the world. His worried face, golden eyes wide, filled Aguero's vision when Aguero finally pried his eyes open.
When he noticed Aguero was awake, he smiled, and Aguero shivered with the memory of the smile Bam had worn as he died.
"What were you dreaming about?" Bam asked, hand coming up to cradle Aguero's cheek. "You looked terrified. I haven't seen you like that since..." His lips pursed, eyes flicking off to the side, and Aguero knew that Bam was remembering the deaths of V and Arlene, the deaths that Aguero's tactics hadn't been good enough to prevent all those years ago. "Well, it's been a long time."
Aguero swallowed, letting just enough time pass for his answer not to be suspicious. "I don't remember."

Bam is a completely normal student at a completely normal school.

Thankfully, Khun and Rak will be here to help him through this journey. As they were for him in the past, as well. Because this wasn't just his past, but theirs. And they would face it together.
But Khun too, hides his secrets close to his chest, far away from Bam's own troubles... will Bam find out before it is too late?

He hesitated. Though he knew that he had to kill whoever was down there, it seemed cruel to do so without even giving him a chance. "I think I'm here to kill you?"
What do you think you're doing? Rachel demanded.
Silence, then laughter came echoing up the stairs. "You must be the worst assassin I've ever heard of, announcing your intentions like that. Come on down, then, and give it a try."
I guess we won't get a better invitation than that, the other voice inside him muttered, his unease clear. Let's go.
Bam made his way down, his footsteps silent against the stone through no effort of his own. He came out in a shadowed room, the moon through the window illuminating a graceful figure seated against the wall. In its silvery light, the figure's light blue hair almost seemed to glow, framing his face like a halo. Cobalt eyes stared back at him, tired but bright with curiosity.

"Are you just going to follow me around all night, or are you going to tell me what you're here for?" Aguero called out, tucking a hand in his sleeve.
Silence. He grasped at the hilt of his hidden dagger, keeping his breathing steady.
The scrape of movement against cobblestone rang out, and Aguero pivoted out of the way as a flash of silver flew toward him. Pain seared across his cheek in its wake, the blade clattering against the wall behind him.
"You've gotten slow," a familiar voice followed the blade. "Unless you mean to tell me that you let me hit you on purpose."

He already knew what would be said by the test administrator. It was hard not to, he already remembered all of these instructions by heart. “There are four hundred Regulars currently taking this test,” Bam mouthed along, still in disbelief. “Narrow it down to two hundred in the next half an hour.” He recited.
He was, with all intent and purpose, back in time.
