Work Text:
Christmas Day. It was a day celebrated by many, commemorating the birth of Christ, and celebrating the act of giving. A day where everyone decorated and spent time with family, where everything was glowing and shining as far as the eye can see. LeBlanc was closed for the day, along with the many other stores in Japan. Akira was still in bed when his phone went off, and he began to wake groggily to check the message.
[Prince Akechi <3]
Good morning Akira!
I'll be stopping by LeBlanc today, just a heads up so you're ready
[Akira KUwUsu]
K, I'll be waiting at the counter
Akira got out of bed -- waking Morgana as a consequence -- and stretched as he made his way downstairs to make himself a warm cup of coffee. It was cold that morning, and glistening snow coated the ground and rooftops. Akira decided to clean up the store a bit before Akechi came. A little dusting and vacuuming here and there couldn't hurt.
The small bell at the door rang as Akechi arrived 2 hours later in one of his blue argyle sweaters. His hair was down again, and he looked just as lovely as he always did.
Akira was waiting at the counter, just like he said he would. Akechi couldn't help but notice that the store looked pristine. 'Akira must have done some cleaning before I came,' he thought.
"Hello Akira," Akechi greeted him with a small smile and a wave.
"Hey Goro! Come on in," Akira said as he walked past the counter while he headed in other male's direction.
"If you don't mind, could you help me decorate the shop for the holidays?" Akira asked as he went to lean against a booth near Akechi. The brunet began looking at him with a happy look in his eyes that held the answer for Akira to see.
The messy-haired boy looked at him with a happy and hopeful smile. 'Like a little puppy,' Akechi couldn't help but think.
"Sure. It will be a lovely way to spend some time together as well. It's not everyday we can hangout with each other after all," the detective noted with a smile and his normal controlled tone.
Akira went to get the decorations from a box up in the dusty attic he used as a room. His room was very bright with the stringed lights already put up. Everything looked so colorful up there compared to the shop, which wasn't decorated.
He came back down carrying a decently sized box that seemed to have a fair amount of dust settled on it. He set it down on one of the tables and opened it, revealing a plentiful amount of colorful lights, garlands, and little statues and candle holders.
"Let's start with decorating the inside, then we'll work on putting up lights outside LeBlanc," Akira directed. Akechi nodded and he began to grab some garlands to spread around the bottom floor of the cafe while Akira grabbed some of the statuettes and placed them on the counter. They both did the same with a couple of candle holders as well.
"Would you happen to have any candles that can easily fit within the candle holders, Akira?" Akechi inquired. His bespectacled companion seemed to have an inquisitive look on his face, and he shrugged his shoulders in a way that stated that he didn't quite know.
"I have many different things up in the attic, I can most likely find some up there. Are you okay with helping me look for them?" Akira asked. Akechi nodded and he followed Akira up the creaking steps to the attic. Once they got to the top of the stairs, they found the shelves where everything was stored and they began to look around. Even Morgana helped out. That was a big surprise considering that they planned on eating all the sushi they could and sleeping the entire time, along with opening the gifts Akira bought them. But they were mostly planning on sleeping.
"I think I found them. They are up a little high though, I can't reach them," Akechi noted.
"Here, let me help with that," Akira said, but he did quite the alarming thing to reach the candles. He started climbing the shelves a bit, in which his companion could only stare, mouth agape. Akira grabbed them and "jumped" down.
"Alright, let's go back downstairs," he said casually. Akechi was still somewhat alarmed by what Akira just did, but he brushed it to the side and followed him back down the wooden steps. They placed the candles in the candle holders, then got some of the lights and went outside. Akira, after placing his lights down on the ground, went to get a ladder from inside. Once the ladder was acquired, the two boys quickly got to work.
It only took roughly 30 minutes for them to hand all the lights on the exterior of the store, but it looked amazing in the end. They turned the lights on and just stared at the glowing bulbs, each one looking so beautiful mixed with the others.
Akira's only wish was that this day would never end.
Akira and Akechi decided to head inside, and they cleaned up the leftover bins and the other little things they didn't end up using. After cleaning up, they stayed up in the attic. They talked about everyday things, like school and Akechi's work. The talking went on for a bit before the room fell into silence.
Akira sat there, looking at his friend. He tried to distract himself by looking around the room he had seen millions of times, but his gaze always went back to the brunet in front of him.
Akira's eyes fell back to Akechi one more time, and he couldn't help himself as he cupped Akechi's face. 'His cheeks are soft,' he noticed as Akechi's eyes dart to look back at him.
"Can... Can I kiss you?" Akira asks. The other male stared at him before letting out a small 'yes' and a nod. Akira wastes no time closing his eyes and going in to kiss Akechi, but it didn't last very long. They pulled apart before long, and Akira started to get jittery.
"Can I do that again...?" the black-haired boy inquired once again. Akechi nods and Akira closes their gap again. They pulled away after a longer time than the first kiss. After that, they stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds before Akira dragged the other male right into his bed.
"Akira, what are you doing?" Akechi asked.
"Cuddle now, ask questions later."
Akechi smiled slightly before wrapping his arms around Akira.
"Good night, idiot."
