On the first day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel a lecture about why the whole modern take on the holiday is a commercial construct, that obsessing over gifting unnecessary items to one another is simply a capitalistic agenda plainly pushed on the children by means of inventing a magical fantasy man and his eight magical fantasy sled-deer, thereby hooking the youngest in society on a system flawed and selfish at its very core.
On the second day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel yet another two reasons to regret his life choices, namely the one that led him to fall from the gates of Heaven in order to somehow be a part of ultimate sacrifice he couldn’t actually prevent.
On the third day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel three guesses as to what Dean had done to deserve the silent treatment he was inflicting, and which Castiel was quite certain Dean had not even noticed yet.
On the fourth day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel four bitchfaces, for no reason Castiel could determine, except perhaps that yesterday, he had sided with Dean about the petty argument the brothers had.
On the fifth day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel five ancient books of lore.
On the sixth day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel six quick kisses to the back of his head throughout the day, which let him know they were back on track.
On the seventh day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel seven smirks and one snort while watching Dean try the ghost pepper jerky again because “It probably isn’t as bad as I remember it being.”
On the eighth day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel entirely too many shots, two for every one of Sam’s four, just enough to feel a tingle, and for Sam to get flirty.
On the ninth day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel a “So get this” announcement, which led to them driving nine hours on a new case.
On the tenth day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel ten demons to smite his way through when he himself got tied up and nearly tortured yet again.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel eleven drops of dead man’s blood to add to the spell which should hopefully weaken an entire nest, according to the Men of Letters journal he unearthed.
On the twelfth day of Christmas, Sam gave to Castiel the promise of twelve more months of being entirely in love with him, and one shiny ring promising far more than that.
