Surprisingly, it wasn't the sound of an alarm that he woke up to, but the soft sound of snoring from his boyfriend. Tooru blindly reached for his phone, finding it after a few seconds of moving his hand around, his eyes still half-closed as he listened to the sounds Hajime made in his sleep, something that would surely bother him if it were anyone else, yet he found he didn't mind it if it came from him. He quickly turned up the brightness on his phone slightly, looking at the time; a few minutes away from when he'd set his alarm to wake him up, perfect. He turned to his sleeping boyfriend, giving him a kiss on the forehead before getting up carefully not to bother the other.
It was unfortunately the day he both looked forward to and dreaded the most, the official Seijoh Christmas Party(trademarked, of course). As much as he absolutely loved how chaotic the parties were, he also absolutely despised being chosen as the host for the party. In his defense, his house would become an absolute mess by the end of the night, and the next day he'd have to deal both with cleaning all of it up and the worst hangover one could possibly imagine (the reason why playing drinking games with Hajime and Mattsun was an absolute mistake that he always found himself getting dragged into, regardless of how much he tried not to).
He quickly got out of his pajamas, getting ready for his morning jog as he did every day, what was once only part of Hajime's routine becoming a part of his as well. He mentally prepared himself for the night that was to come, smiling to himself as he looked at the flowers Hajime had given to him, casablanca lilies, symbolizing joy and life. One wouldn't imagine him to be a romantic, yet he still did those small little things that just warmed Tooru's heart. He quickly watered them and all the other plants they had in the house, his most recent obsession, one he was sure would last, glancing one last time at his apartment, slightly messy in an oddly fashionable way. The windows were open, letting the crisp winter breeze in, the curtains blowing in the wind, a soft beige in contrast to the light blue walls of the living room. On one of the corners was a christmas tree, not yet decorated because clearly letting them decorate a christmas tree (or anything, really) was a great idea and nothing bad would ever happen during it like him tripping and falling while trying to put the star on top of the tree, bringing it down with him. No , he doesn't speak from experience and christmas tree decorating is a 100% safe and family friendly experience.
Time passed by quite quickly, and soon enough he was already back at his apartment, bags in hand after going grocery shopping and humming the song that was playing in his earphones at that moment.
He danced his way to the kitchen, leaving the bags there and going to wake up his boyfriend.
He placed kisses in Hajime's face, wherever he could reach until he woke up. The first sign of him waking up was the end to his snoring, followed by a groan as his eyes slowly opened. "Morning, love." The response came in the form of unintelligible groans. 'Cute', he thought to himself as his boyfriend simply turned around, trying to go back to sleep. He decided to let him go back to sleep for a while, walking back to the kitchen. He was sure the other would wake up while he made coffee for them.

It felt as if time was passing by too quickly. Tooru was taking out another batch of gingerbread cookies from the oven, not sure if there was enough for all of them and their... clumsiness, when he heard the sound of his doorbell ringing. He placed the tray on the table and left Hajime in charge of taking out the other trays as he walked to the door, seeing Makki and Mattsun, both holding a way too large box, like, fucking huge . How the fuck did they even get that? Regardless, he helped them bring the box into the living room.
Little by little, everyone had arrived, and so, at 8pm, the party officially started. "We should probably do like a toast or something before we drink this so uh... to us? I guess?" Tooru said, raising his glass and drinking it all in one go and choking on it, because what better way to start off than with him choking on champagne or whatever the fuck was in their glasses?
The party was, surprisingly enough, going pretty well, although he was sure it was about to go to shit at any moment. He's not sure what had led to that moment, all he remembers is talking to his boyfriend. Peacefully, might he add. And seeing Mattsun right in front of them, a shit-eating-grin on his face and a fucking mistletoe in his hands. "Well, you know what that means, Iwa-chan. You gotta kiss me now." He said in fake discontent, looking down at the brunette. The moment he leaned in and his lips met Tooru's it was as if nothing else mattered. He could faintly hear the sounds of a shitty rendition of Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You being sung by a way too drunk Hanamaki, but other than that, everything that wasn't those lips against his and the taste of hot chocolate wasn't important.
As he came back to his senses, he could hear the sounds of Hanamaki, still very drunk, no longer singing that god awful song, but instead hollering at them as he pulled away. He's pretty sure that was somehow even worse.
They quickly moved on from that and Matsukawa went back to bothering the other couples present with his stupid mistletoe until it was time for the christmas tree decorating.
He could hear Hajime sigh next to him as he looked at the others excitedly taking out christmas ornaments and lights. "Not gonna join them?" Tooru asked.
"Didn't really plan on it, but I'm assuming you want me to, so I guess I'll go," and that was enough for him. He smiled at his boyfriend before grabbing him by the wrist, leading him into the festive mess of ornaments, lights and god knows what.

On the mental list of "random things he honestly didn't expect to happen for some reason but somehow happened at this dumb party" was now mistaking Kunimi's earring for a functional ornament. In his defense, the boy was on the floor, surrounded by ornaments and looking like he was questioning his own life. He couldn't blame him, were he anyone else, he's sure he'd be asking himself how he ended up being friends with so many crazy people.
As was practically tradition at this point, someone needed to trip or fall in some stupid way while decorating the tree. This year, the person to do so was Yahaba, falling from the stool he used to help him reach higher parts of the tree. Luckily (or unluckily) for him, Kyoutani was right there, ready to catch him when he fell, almost as if it were fate. He practically suffered as he watched the two interact, they were so obviously in love with each other, and yet both seemed oblivious to each other's feelings, making it so unbearably awkward he wanted to interrupt. He wouldn't though, he needed to let them sort it by themselves, because he's sure neither would believe him if he said the other felt the same.

"YOU CAN DANCE, YOU CAN JIII- IIIII- VE, HAVING THE TIME OF YOUR LI-I-IFE~" He sang, purposefully off-key. After that came a not so purposefully awful rendition of Money Money Money by Hanamaki. They each took turns singing random Abba songs just as they did every year since Matsukawa joked about it ("Okay, but imagine this, Abba Johsai, okay? Like, we each take turns singing Abba songs, just because." He'd said a few years ago, either incredibly drunk or incredibly sober, you really couldn't tell)
And that's how they ended up singing Abba songs. He's still not sure where that idea came from, but such is the magic of Matsukawa's existence, apparently. One by one, they each sang their songs, some worse than others ( cough cough Hanamaki cough cough ) until it was time for Secret Santa.
At this point, Tooru was barely paying attention to what gifts were being given. He was pretty sure he saw Hajime's increasingly frustrated sighs as he opened box after box just to get to some small little gift inside all those boxes (seriously, how the fuck did he find a box that big? he could probably fit at least two people inside of it, that was way too big for a gift). And then came his gift. They all got up. This was certainly planned before-hand.
What seemed to be Hanamaki got behind him, placing his hands in front of Tooru's eyes, blocking his vision temporarily. A moment passed and those hands were removed.
In front of him was Hajime, on one knee, wearing that shitty christmas sweater he'd been forced to wear and a small smile on his face. Most importantly of all, in his hands was a small, light turquoise box, the same color as their old team's jersey, inside of it was a ring, a silver ring with small carvings on them with a small turquoise stone on top, shimmering along with the christmas lights. Hajime's emerald eyes sparkled with the lights next to him as he spoke those words, those four simple words.
"Will you marry me?" He asked, and suddenly, Tooru felt tears coming to his eyes. The tears blurred his vision, yet his answer was clear as day. He can't even imagine a world in which he'd say anything different. The feel of those lips against his once more felt different, almost as if they told a story through their kiss. He couldn't think of a better way for this to happen, it was all so incredibly them and he loved every second of it.
♡
"I do." Those words felt so foreign against his lips, yet so familiar in the presence of his Hajime. He smiled into their kiss, happy to proclaim their love in front of their friends and family, to show the world how much he meant to him. There's nothing in the world that would ever compare to him, to having him, right there, in front of him, to waking up next to him everyday and kissing him every day and night as if it were their first time. Nothing could compare to being surrounded by the people he cherished most, celebrating that moment between them, with him, something he'd hold close to his heart forever, he knows Hajime would probably laugh at him for being that sappy, but he's sure that in his own way, he thinks the same thing.
