Work Text:

Walking through the Danville Mall with Isabella, Phineas swung their clasped hands. It was their first Christmas together as a couple. Which was exciting, even if Isabella didn't really celebrate it.

It also meant there was way more pressure on him to get her the perfect gift. At least, that's what he assumed. Candace seemed to think it meant a lot.

His eyes kept catching on different stores. None of them were right.

He didn't know what to get her. That was new. He never questioned any present he'd gotten her before.

Maybe he could just make her something.

Except she was the one to bring up Christmas shopping, so did that mean she wanted him to buy the gift? Maybe he should just ask her. He opened his mouth.

"Oh, look!" She pointed at a store front. "I was starting to think we'd never find someplace selling lights."

He closed his mouth. Actually, on second thought, "Lights?"

"Yeah." She turned to him. "Christmas lights? Did you not want to decorate your dorm room? I know you still have some in your parent's garage, but I thought you'd want to use those for something else."

Phineas blinked before he started laughing. "Wait, so when you said Christmas shopping you just meant decorations?"

She stared at him a minute. Shaking her head, she bumped their arms together. "It wouldn't do much good to shop for each others presents if we're next to each other."

Smiling sheepishly, he scratched the back of his head. "Okay, yeah, that, uh, I knew that."

"Did you?"

"Kinda?" He knew it, he just hadn't considered it in his worry over the perfect present. "So this means you don't expect me to give you something store brought, right?"

"Phineas." She stopped, making him stop as well, and turned to face him. "Whatever you get me or make me or whatever, I know I'll love it."

"Because it's coming from me?"

"Yes."

"That's... kind of cheesy, Isabella."

She leaned forward, giving him a peck on the cheek. "Yes, yes it is."
