Work Text:
She figures it out, and the first person she tells is Samael, who twirls her without a second thought, cheering. Her precious cavalier, so excited at lyctorhood with her, so excited that he doesn’t have to die so she can live; the sacrifice the others had made sounded like pure, unbridled torture to Anastasia, whose life and death and life were so intrinsically united with Samael separation sounds like torture.
The second person she tells is John, and he smiles, says he’ll attend the ceremony, guarantees her everything will go right.
Later, covered in blood, Anastasia will know John lies.
