"Sunshine...?"
It cleared, and everything felt warm and comforting. He was accepting me. He was adapting. This was okay. It was okay to feel happy. Sunny cares. He took the step forward and met with me where I was. Where I should be. Where I feel like myself.
My eyes watered at the rush of emotions. Joy, relief, and something akin to Hope. It was overwhelming. After years of being told it was a phase, being hated, or ridiculed, here I sat with a Daycare attendant that seemed all too human, trying desperately to wipe away the tears that kept coming. I laughed lightly, smiling the brightest I have in a long time. A flashing, blinding white to the darkness that had been clouding my mind.
