Work Text:
Emi had not seen Aizawa since their patrol almost a week ago and today was their first date.
She was a nervous reck on top of that.
“Okay, Emi, you got this,” Emi told herself as she was walking to the location of their first date.
It was already the very beginning of July, which meant it was just getting hotter and hotter by the day. Emi loved the summer heat, but now that she was finally going on a date with Aizawa, she hated it, especially since she did not want to be a sweaty mess.
“Oh God, I shouldn’t have worn such a light dress! I’m sweating!” she whined internally as she walked out of the train station.
She wore a blush pink dress with all-white canvas sneakers, since she did not want to make it seem like she was trying too hard if she wore something other than that and carried a small white purse to match her shoes. He hair was up in a ponytail, since she knew if she left it down, she would sweat even more, but made sure to leave her bangs out with some strands out on the side, so that it could frame her face. She looked very cute, but she thought she made the wrong decision.
“I should have known that the black dress would’ve been better,” she continued to whine. “He wouldn’t notice how sweaty I am right now with it!”
Aizawa was taking her out to a low-key restaurant, since he did not want people to really notice them, and instead of having a date on the weekend, he made it a weekday, since he believed even less people would be out. That meant both of them were fresh out of work and now, they were to meet each other, which Emi accepted but really, she hated the idea of it. She was exhausted.
“He’s gonna see the huge bags under my eyes now, too! Ugh this is horrible!” she complained. “I’m never getting that second date.”
After a few minutes, she finally arrived at the restaurant, where she saw Aizawa was waiting for her outside. He wore all black clothes that were normal, which she rarely had the chance to see him in them, and had his hair up, which she screamed internally, since she found him ten times hotter with it like that.
“Is this man trying to kill me with his hair like that?” she murmured to herself as she began getting closer to him. “He’s really gonna make me mess this date up now!”
Before Emi could finally reach him, Aizawa turned and saw her. He had a usual scowl on his face, which she never minded of course, and had his hands in his pockets like always. Emi, on the other hand, lightly jumped as his eyes met hers, and began to sweat even more as she became more nervous.
“E-Eraser,” Emi nervously said when she finally stopped in front of him. “You’re here early.”
“Not really,” he said. “And don’t call me Eraser in public. It’s better that way and besides, I did say we should get use to saying each other’s names.”
“O-Oh, right! O-Okay,” Emi stuttered, blushing at the same time. “Sorry, S-Shouta.”
“It’s fine, Emi,” he told her, then sighed. “Let’s just go inside.”
Emi bit her lip and nodded. “O-Okay, let’s… let’s go.”
The two went into the restaurant and like Aizawa thought, it wasn’t busy. He took charge and went up to the host for their reservation, following the host after to their table after. The restaurant was a great place to have privacy since they had private tatami rooms for private dining and Emi realized he put a lot of thought into making their date as private as possible. She also realized the place probably was expensive and, she felt underdressed.
‘Crap, this place is super nice and expensive looking! I came here with sneakers! I screwed this up already!’ Emi panicked internally. ‘Yup, I’m not getting that second date!’
“Here you two are. Please, make yourself comfortable! Your waiter will be with you shortly, so please take a look at our menu,” the host said.
“Thank you,” Aizawa and Emi said at the same time.
The two took a seat and the host slid the doors closed, leaving them alone now. Emi began to fidget, trying to pull down her dress because she realized that she could not sit crisscross with her dress and had to sit on her legs, which her dress rode up a bit in that position.
‘I had to pick the shortest dress possible, didn’t I?’ Emi thought as she continued to pull her dress down. She wanting to kick herself for making the decision of wearing the dress, but it was already too hot not to wear something a little shorter than usual.
“Are you alright?” Aizawa asked her, tilting his head slightly as he watches her fidget in place.
“H-Huh?” Emi began to blush slightly. “O-Oh, yeah! I’m okay!”
Aizawa lifted a brow at her response. “Is the seat uncomfortable?”
“W-What? No! It’s not! I-It’s just that my stupid dress is kinda… kinda short and is riding up a bit, that’s all. I should have known better than to wear a dress like this to such an expensive looking place,” she confessed to him.
“Oh, I see,” he said, then cleared his throat. “Sorry for not warning you about the place. I… I didn’t think it was that much of a big deal.”
“I-It’s okay!” Emi said as her hands left her dress and waved in front of her. “Really! It’s such a nice place! I’m glad you took me here!”
“I just wanted it to be as private as possible. I’m sure if we went to a more… populated place, we would be recognized faster.”
“I think… I think it’s better this way, anyways,” Emi softly smiled, blushing slightly as she brought her hands back to the hem of her dress, pulling it down again. “Not too much noise and… we can have some… some privacy.”
As Aizawa opened his mouth to speak, he was interrupted by a knock on the door. The waiter excused themselves, and opened the sliding door, greeting the two pro heroes.
“Good afternoon,” they said. “Are you two ready to order?”
“O-Oh! I didn’t even look at the menu yet!” Emi said, taking her hands off her dress again and grabbing the menu from the table. “Sorry about that!”
“It’s okay!” the waiter said. “How about I get you started with drinks. We have great wine and sake.”
Wine and sake sounded good to Emi, but she told herself if she was to have a drink or two, she probably would screw up the date. She really was trying to have a second date with Aizawa and thought about all the possibilities on how the date could go wrong, so she tried her best to be precautious.
“We’ll start with some sake,” Aizawa told the waiter, causing Emi to lift her head over the menu with widened eyes. Aizawa caught the way she looked at him from the corner of his eye and turned to face her, causing Emi to jump in place. “Is that an issue, Emi?” he asked her.
“O-Oh! No! Not at all!” she nervously said, then laughed. “Sake is perfect!”
“Great! I’ll get that for you while you two decided on your meal,” the waiter said with a grin on their face.
The waiter excused themselves again, and closed the door to their private room, leaving the pro heroes alone again. Aizawa looked at Emi, who was frightened by his gaze, and looked back at the menu, covering her face completely with it.
“Wow, they have so many options! Everything sounds so good!” Emi began to nervously laugh behind the menu.
“You didn’t want the sake, did you?” he asked her, then saw that Emi’s menu began to tremble a bit.
“W-What makes you say that?” Emi laughed behind the menu.
“Your body language,” he told her, causing her to hiccup in embarrassment. “Emi, take the menu out of your face, please.”
Emi bit her lip, then sighed before she put down the menu to face Aizawa. “Okay, you got me! I didn’t want the sake because… because I don’t want to screw this date up if I drink too much. You know I’m a lightweight, Erase- I mean, Shouta!”
Aizawa closed his eyes and sighed, putting the menu down on the table. “Yeah, I’ve seen you drunk before,” he told her. “And you couldn’t control your quirk, so I had to stop you. It was a nightmare to deal with you.”
“Exact- hey!” Emi began to pout. “I wasn’t that bad!”
“You puked on Mic,” Aizawa scoffed.
“Fair point…” Emi said, her shoulders falling in defeat. “Anyways, it’s fine; let’s just forget it. It’s only a small bottle of sake anyways. I guess I’m just over thinking it.”
“You are over thinking it,” he responded, causing Emi to pout again.
“Hey! You know if you want to make a girl feel better, you need to say, ‘No! You’re not overthinking it! What makes you say that!?’ You know, to make it seem like I’m not psyching myself out,” she told him, throwing her arms in the air.
“I was being honest. Don’t women like honesty?” he asked her, shrugging his shoulders.
“Yeah, but you’re being a little too honest,” she murmured, but loud enough so he could hear.
Aizawa sighed, rolling his eyes in the process. “Whatever,” he said under his breath. “Anyways, do you know what you want before the waiter comes back?”
“Yeah,” she sighed as she looked back at the menu. “Everything is so pricey here though. I don’t wanna get anything too expensive.”
“It’s fine; get what you want. I’m paying anyways,” he said to her.
“W-What! No! I’m a modern woman you know. I can pay for my half of the meal,” she told him.
“I’m the one who asked you on a date,” he groaned.
“Yeah, but I’m the one that confess-” she began to say, but paused midway, blushing when she remembered that she was the one who confessed to him first. “…Confessed to you…”
Aizawa crossed his arms and sighed again, dropping his head down slightly. “Emi, I get it but it’s fine; I’m treating. You just get it next time if it makes you feel better.”
“N-Next time?” Emi murmured, still blushing.
She didn’t expect him to say that. She already began to figure that the date wasn’t going good already, since they have been at it for the past few minutes, making her think he was regretting the decision to go on a date with her.
“Yes, next time,” he said, looking into her eyes. “Or is that not gonna happen?”
Emi quickly straightened up and began to fiddle her fingers. “I-Well… I hope so,” she said, then looked down onto her lap. “I mean, we’ve kinda been at it for the past few minutes, so… so I thought you definitely made your mind up to not continue… this…”
“Yeah, you’re definitely overthinking it,” he sighed.
“Hey!” she pouted again.
“This is how we usually are anyways, isn’t it? It’s better this way than acting different from how we usually are,” he told her. “Stop overthinking it.”
Emi began to blush again. She really thought the date went to shit, but it seemed as if she was doing something right. “I-I’ll try,” Emi said, nodding.
The waiter came back with some sake, placing it down on their table, then took the orders of the pro heroes. After their orders were taken, the pro heroes were left alone again. Aizawa took the small bottle of sake and poured himself and Emi some in the small sake cup provided. He then handed a cup to her first, Emi hesitating slightly, before grabbing it with both her hands.
“T-Thank you,” she told him.
“You’re welcome,” he said back, grabbing his own sake cup.
“Cheers, I guess,” Emi laughed slightly.
“Yeah, cheers.”
They softly clashed their cups of sake together and drank it at the same time. Emi sighed loudly after she drank hers, smiling after, since she believed she could use just a little bit of a drink after the past few weeks she has had as a teacher and pro hero.
“Ah! That was delicious,” Emi laughed. “Just can’t have too much of it.”
“Yeah, I don’t want to take care of you like last time,” he told her, slightly smirking since he was teasing her.
“H-Hey! That was not one of my best moments!” Emi pouted, blushing in embarrassment at the same time. “I’m sure you have plenty of drunk stories that you’re hiding from me, Shouta.”
“Nope,” he shook his head. “Not one.”
Emi raised a brow, not buying his denial. “I’m sure I could get it out of Mic! He definitely would tell me!” she scoffed. “There had to of been at least one embarrassing time you had thanks to a couple of drinks.”
“Nope. Unlike you, I can handle my liquor,” he said as he poured himself another cup of sake, bringing it to his lips after.
“I call bullshit,” Emi said, crossing her arms. “I’m gonna ask Mic next time we have joint training.”
“Go ahead,” Aizawa said, putting down his cup. “Mic could barely remember anything when we use to go out for drinks, so he has no stories to tell.”
Emi huffed and dropped her shoulders in defeat again, since she knew he was right just based off experience of having a drink with Mic around. “Crap, you’re right about that part,” she said, then sighed as she grabbed her cup and brought it towards, Aizawa. “Pour me anothers,” she sighed again.
Aizawa slightly smirked and grabbed the bottle of sake to pour her another one cup. “And you didn’t want the sake.”
“Well, I change my mind then,” she said, then laughed before she took a sip of the sake, he poured her. “You know, I feel a little rebellious having sake on a school night. It feels like I’m doing something illegal,” she laughed again.
“I won’t tell if you won’t,” he told her, causing Emi to softly laugh.
“I knew you were funny somewhere under that emo persona,” Emi laughed.
“I’m not emo,” he groaned.
“Yes, you kinda are,” she continued to laugh. “I’m sure you were much more emo in high school.”
“No, I wasn’t,” he groaned again. “Did Mic tell you I was?”
“I will not confirm nor deny that,” Emi snickered.
“So, he did,” Aizawa now scoffed.
“Not answering,” she sang, then laughed again. “It was obvious when I saw you in the sports festival your third year at UA.”
“You remember the sports festival from fifteen years ago?” he scoffed again, this time in surprise. “You never told me that.”
“Yeah! That’s when I first heard about you!” she told him. “I was just a first year at Ketsubutsu that year and my friends and I decided to get tickets to go, since we wanted to see our competition with the first years. I remember seeing you fight the one on one and thought you were so cool! My friends thought I was crazy, especially since I was rooting for the competition, but I didn’t care; you were really cool. But it was obvious that you were emo with the way you stood there after winning the first round. You literally had no emotion whatsoever!”
“Well,” Aizawa cleared his throat, kind of amazed that she remembered that moment in his life. “I didn’t care if I won, but that doesn’t make me emo.”
“Yeah, it kinda does. I mean even after you lost the second round, you literally had no emotion. That’s why my friends thought I was crazy when I said you were cute-” Emi paused, realizing she just told him he looked cute, which she began to blush again and stutter. “I mean, a good fighter!”
Aizawa was taken aback by her words. Yeah, she confessed to him and always asked him on a date, but she never said he was cute. “O-Oh… thanks, I guess…”
Emi began to laugh off the embarrassment, then grabbed her cup of left-over sake and chugged it before slamming it down on the table. “Anyways! You’re emo and those were my first impressions of you,” she quickly said as she laughed, blushing at the same time.
“I’m not emo,” he grumbled as his eye twitched a bit.
“Yes, you are,” she continued to laugh. Her laugh died down, and she softly smiled at him again as she heard him suck his teeth. “What were your first impressions of me? You found me super annoying, huh?”
“Yeah, you still are,” he scoffed. “But you’re tolerable and you’re a good fighter.”
“I’ll take that,” she laughed lightly as she put her elbows on the table now and laid her head in her hands. “What made you ask me out on a date besides giving it a try? You felt bad for me, huh?”
“No, I didn’t feel bad for you,” he said to her. “I… I just thought about what you said… you know, confessing to me… and it… it kind of hit me that I was never confessed to before. You were the first person to ever do that…”
“I was!?” she asked, her eyes widening. “You’re telling me nobody confessed to you before!?”
“No one has ever confessed to me before,” he said as he shook his head.
Emi was in shock. She thought he would have hundreds confess their feelings for him, since she thought so highly of him but to hear that shocked her. “What!? Please tell me you’re joking!”
“I’m not,” he told her.
“Not even in high school!?”
“Not even in high school.”
“What!?” she almost shouted. “Are people blind or something!?”
“H-Huh?” Aizawa said, stunned by what she said.
“You heard me! How can someone be so oblivious and not see how amazing you are!” she said, hitting her hands on the table as she was very passionate about him. “Like how stupid can people be!?”
“E-Emi, it’s not that serious-” he began to say but was cut off by Emi.
“Yes, it is! How can nobody see how cool you are!?” she said, not even blushing this time because she was serious.
“Nobody needs to see if I am cool or not,” he sighed. “But I… I appreciate that you thought that, Emi, and I… I appreciate you being the first person to confess to me ever, so… thank you…” Aizawa looked her in the eyes when he thanked her and saw that Emi’s face turned pink and that her eyes widened.
“I-Uh…” she began to stutter as she looked into his eyes, but then turned away to hide her blush. “Y-You’re welcome, S-Shouta.”
Aizawa slightly smirked as he saw Emi turn away and thanked him. “Now, the real question is, am I the first guy you ever confessed your feelings to?”
Emi quickly turned to face him, blushing even more than before. “Y-Yes… well, to be fair, I saw you when I was in high school and thought about you over all the guys I went to school with. I broke some hearts at Ketsubutsu.”
“So, you were popular?” he raised a brow.
“I-I wouldn’t say I was popular!” she said, shaking her head. “A… A few of boys there asked me out, but I denied them all. I just didn’t want them to get in the way of my training because I didn’t have a flashy quirk like a lot of the people in the hero course did and, I kinda had my heart set on you after I saw you at the sports festival.” Emi began to laugh softly, “I… I didn’t think that I would see you in the field after I graduated, since you were an underground hero and didn’t want anyone to know anything about you, but I was ecstatic when I found out you worked by my agency. I remember when we first met; I was a nervous reck!”
“Really? I couldn’t even tell. I just remember you making a joke and me having to stop your quirk,” he told her.
“Well, I let my quirk get loose because I was nervous as hell,” she laughed again. “I really didn’t mean to do that.”
“Now it all makes sense,” he said to her. “I thought you were just reckless.”
“H-Hey! Stop teasing me, will ya!?” she pouted and blushed at the same time.
“You do it to me all the time,” he groaned.
“Yeah, but it was to get you to notice me! You know how hard it was to finally have you remember my hero name?”
“Oh, I remembered it. I just acted like I didn’t because I thought you would leave me alone but, that obviously didn’t work.”
Emi continued to pout. “Well, look at us now! On a date! That means I won!”
Aizawa scoffed, then slightly laughed at her facial expression and comment. “Yeah, I guess you did.”
They continued to talk for a few moments before their meal came, and before they knew it, it was already the end of their date.
The two walked out into the city streets and saw that it was already dark now, which meant it was their time to depart, since it was still a school night. Not many people were there, so it was a good sign to not be spotted.
Emi did not want the night to end, but she knew it had to, since they had other priorities. But she did enjoy her date with him, even though she thought that it started off rocky.
“I guess this is where we part,” Emi sighed as she turned to face him. “I had a good time, Shouta.”
“Yeah, so… so did I…” he said as he faced her as well, scratching the back of his head. “I… I can take you home. I borrowed Mic’s car.”
“How did you manage that?” she asked.
“I lied and said I needed it for some errands. He didn’t even question it since he’s busy grading tests before summer vacation.”
“O-Oh,” she began to blush at the thought of him driving her home. “I-It’s not necessary! It’s kinda far for you to drop me off then go to U.A! I live on the other side of the city!”
“It’s fine,” he told her. “I would prefer to see you home than you taking public transportation.”
“I’m a big girl, Shouta,” she laughed. “And a pro hero at that.”
“You’re right, but I rather take you home; it’s late,” he said.
“I’ll take you up on that offer IF you don’t blame me for your lack of sleep,” she laughed more. “I don’t want to be the reason you make class A run laps around the school at eight in the morning.”
“I’ll make them do that regardless,” he scoffed, Emi giggling at his comment. “So, can I take you home?”
“Sure,” she softly smiled up at him. “I’ll like that.”
Aizawa led the way and brought her to Mic’s car. He opened the door for her, in which she teased him about it, causing Aizawa to groan. She laughed at his reaction, but of course, thanked him. After he was settled in the driver’s seat, he began to drive her home.
“Wow, Eraserhead driving a car instead of swinging from a scarf,” she laughed. “Thought I’d never see the day.”
“Shut up,” he groaned, causing Emi to laugh more.
“Just teasing,” she told him, her laugh dying down. “I really appreciate you driving me, even though it’s going to be about an hour to get back from my place to yours.”
“It’s no problem,” he said, keeping his eyes on the road. “You always come to U.A. for training instead of us going to Ketsubutsu and go without complaining. Taking you home isn’t a problem.”
Emi softly smiled as she watched him drive. “As much as I hate your school, you guys have a better training field than us, so it’s more so that we’re using you guys.”
Aizawa’s lips turned into a smirk, then let out a light laugh. “Using us, huh?”
“Yup! Gotta take advantage of U.A. somehow,” she laughed again.
The drive went by fast and before they knew it, they were in Emi’s side of town. Emi sighed as she looked out the window and watched as Aizawa drove through the bridge that had taken him from one side of the river by her apartment, to the other. She knew she was getting closer and closer to home, feeling sadden that their night together was finally coming to an end.
“Is something wrong?” he asked her.
“It’s nothing,” she sighed again, still looking at the window. “Just the thought of the night ending so fast kinda… kinda makes me sad a little that’s all.”
Aizawa turned his head for a moment to see that she was facing the window, laying her head on the window as she watched the city at night. “It… It doesn’t have to end yet…”
“Huh?” Emi said, turning her head to face him. “What do you mean?”
“We… We can take a walk along the river if… if that is alright with you.”
“B-But it’s late and you have to get back to U.A.,” she said to him, pouting a little because she did not want him to lose sleep over her wanting the night not to end.
“I’ll be fine, Emi,” he told her. “Besides, tomorrow class A has rescue training tomorrow, so Thirteen has the class covered. I just have to make sure the class doesn’t get out of hand. Well, more like looking after Bakugou and his rescue skills.”
“I guess… if it doesn’t bother you,” she began to say, playing with the hem of her dress, “I would love to take a walk if that is alright with you.”
“Alright then, let’s go for a walk,” Aizawa said as he watched the road.
Aizawa pulled over by the river moments later, parking the car by the river. They both got out the car at the same time and made their way down to the road along the river where they could walk along it. Now that the sun was down, it was a lot cooler than before and a light summer breeze that felt just right.
“I love the river at night,” Emi said as she put her hands behind her back and laughed softly. “It’s so beautiful.”
“You walk here alone at night?” he asked as he walked beside her.
“Sometimes, when I need fresh air. It helps clear my mind,” she said as she looked along the riverbank.
“That’s dangerous,” he told her. “You shouldn’t walk alone at night.”
Emi let out a laughed and turned to face him, softly smiling after. “I’m not fragile.”
“Never said you were,” he responded. “I know you can protect yourself, but I rather not have anything happen to you.”
Emi giggled, shaking her head at his response. “Nothing is gonna happen to me, Shouta. I’ll make sure to stay alive and well just so that I can bother you for the rest of your life.” She heard Aizawa scoff and Emi laughed at his reaction. “Got you there, didn’t I?”
“Yeah, right,” he sarcastically said.
Emi giggled some more, then glanced back at the river, looking at how the moon light reflected on river water. Aizawa, on the other hand, watched her as she did. If you asked him what he thought about her before their patrol the week before, he would just say she was just annoying, but tonight, he found her beautiful.
His eyes went from watching her gaze at the river, to her hands, which were still behind her as they walked along side each other. He took his hand out of his pocket, hesitating at first to reach out for one of her hands, but he finally built up enough courage to take her hand at the end. He reached out for her left hand with his right hand, breaking apart her own hands, and intertwining his fingers with hers. Emi quickly turned her head to face him as she felt his hand touch hers and blushed under the moonlight as she saw him look at their hands tangled together, then look back to meet her gaze. She didn’t say nothing and instead, she smiled softly at him, letting out a light laugh as she squeezed his hand a little.
They walked like that for a few minutes without exchanging a word, and just enjoyed the view of the river, taking in the nice cool breeze that came along with it. Emi blushed the whole time, but also felt at ease when she felt his hand on hers while they walked.
“You know, Shouta, I never thought you would be holding my hand like this,” Emi laughed softly, breaking the silence between them. “I need to write this in my diary just to make sure this isn’t a dream.”
“What are you, a teenager?” he scoffed.
“No, but you are fulfilling my teenage dream,” she continued to laugh.
Aizawa scoffed again, then gave her a faint smile. “Sorry it took too long.”
“It’s okay,” she said, shaking her head a bit as she laughed. “It was worth the wait. You got better looking with age anyways.”
“Shut up,” he grumbled as he turned away from her, slightly blushing at her comment.
“Shouta, are you blushing?” she snickered, poking his arm with her other hand.
“N-No,” he said, clearing his throat and turning back to face her, trying to make it seem like he wasn’t just blushing a second ago.
Emi let out a giggle, blushing as well, and she became more comfortable around him throughout their walk. She laid her head on his shoulder and grabbed ahold of his arm with her free hand, still holding his hand with her other one. “You definitely were blushing.”
“I was not,” he scoffed, hearing her giggle again.
“Yes, you were,” she said to him, still giggling. “I know you were but it’s hard to see at night. I’ll catch you blushing one day in the light.”
“Yeah, right,” he sarcastically said, rolling his eyes.
Emi giggle once more, then let it die down before she looked up at him, in which he looked down at her, their eyes meeting under the moonlight. He stopped them for a moment as their eyes met and pulled himself away from her slightly enough to move in front of her, but still held her hand as he did. Emi was caught off guard when she saw that he was in front of her now, their bodies only inches apart, and began to blush with her eyes widened, since she was expecting the grand finale of their date: A kiss.
“Emi,” he said, looking down at her, his hand squeezed her hand gently. “Do… Do you really… see yourself with me?”
“Huh?” she responded, tilting her head slightly. “Shouta, why are you asking that?”
“Because… because you deserve better than me,” he told her. “I… I don’t know if you would be happy with me.”
Emi’s eyes widened more, and her lips turned into a frown. She was expecting a kiss, but instead, she heard his doubt. “Shouta, why would you think that? How would you know that? Because obviously, you don’t. I get to decided who I want to be with, and I get to decide who makes me happy and… and I think that person is you.”
“I’m not what you think I am. You’ve only seen me through work and the very few times out of it. What makes you think I can make you happy?”
“Because you are you,” she told him, then laughed softly. “You don’t have a fake persona, you’re super blunt, and your pretty bad ass, which is why I like you so much. You also were not having any of my shenanigans, so I knew you weren’t lying to me about how unfunny my jokes could be sometimes, well… most of the time for you. I’ve known you long enough to know that I would be happy with you if we give this a chance. Besides, it’s a two-way street. I don’t even know if I can make you happy, but it’s worth a shot to try.”
Aizawa was too stunned to speak. Couldn’t help but be touched by her words since she was right; they both did not know if they could make each other happy but, if they were willing to try, there was a chance it could work out.
“When we were in the hero course, I’m sure we didn’t know we would make it through and become actual pro heroes. We had our doubts but look at us now; we’re pros. We didn’t know how it would be, but it was worth the shot, so look at it this way; we don’t know where this would take us but, it’s worth a shot, don’t you think?”
Aizawa took a few seconds to respond, nodding with his head first. “Yeah, you’re… you’re right. We… We don’t know what life is going to bring us, but we keep moving on every day and look forward to it.”
“Exactly,” she said, softly smiling at him again, then letting out a laugh. “See, you get it now. And I thought was the one who was overthinking before.”
Aizawa scoffed but smirked after at her comment. “Shut up.”
“You know I’m right and you hate to admit it,” she continued to laugh. “It’s okay, you can admit that I’m right.”
“You know, Joke, you talk too much,” Aizawa scoffed again.
“Whatcha gonna do about it, Eraser? Shut me up?” she teased him as she went on her tippytoes and poked his chest.
“Yeah,” he said, giving her a cunning smirk. “That’s exactly what I’m going to do.”
He let go of her hand, then brought his hand to her face, cupping it, and pulled her closed to him until their lips touched. Emi’s eyes widened when she felt her lips on his, but then closed her eyes slowly as she enjoyed the kiss that she waited for so long.
When he pulled his lips apart, Emi slowly opened her eyes, her cheeks flushed from their kiss. She then blinked a few times, trying to make sure he did actually kiss her, then looked up at him to see that he smirked again at her.
“I guess that worked,” he laughed softly as he watched her reaction, his hands still on her face.
Emi now was the one too stunned to speak, since she was still processing their kiss. She wanted to slap herself across the face to make sure she wasn’t dreaming, but at the same time, she knew she shouldn’t make a fool out of herself. “I-Uh…”
Aizawa laughed softly again, then brought his hand away from her face, grabbing her hand again. “What? Cat gotcha tongue?”
Emi began to blush profusely again at his comment, pouting at the same time. “Y-You got jokes now, huh?”
“I guess you’re rubbing off on me,” he slyly smirked at her.
Emi’s pout turned into a smile, “And you always said my jokes suck.”
“They still do,” he scoffed.
Emi scoffed this time, rolling her eyes and now, she was the one to grab ahold of his shirt with her one free hand, pulling Aizawa closer to her. Aizawa’s eyes widened at her boldness, and this time, he began to blush slightly as their lips were just only centimeters apart. “Now it’s my turn to shut you up,” she said before she initiated the kiss this time.
Their lips touched again, Emi taking control this time. Aizawa was stunned again, but he appreciated her boldness and gave into the kiss quickly. He let go of her hand, then brought it to her waist, pulling their bodies closer as they kissed. Emi smiled through the kiss as she felt his hand on her waist and knew Aizawa was enjoying their kiss.
Emi pulled apart first this time, then began to giggle over his lips before she backed away from him a little more but didn’t pull away much since his hand still was on her waist still. “Now, did that shut you up?” she asked, laughing after.
“Not at all,” he scoffed, causing her to laugh even more.
“It was still worth a shot,” she shrugged, then giggled. “You’re definitely starting to like me more now, huh?”
Aizawa laughed lightly again, “just a little.”
“I’ll take that,” she laughed. “Soon, you’re gonna be calling me your wife.”
“We haven’t even finished our first date, Emi,” he now groaned.
“I can see it now!” she said, completely ignoring him and looking away from him as she moved her hand in the air from one side to another. “Emi Aizawa! Shouta Aizawa’s wife!”
“I don’t see it,” he quickly retorted, causing her to turn her head to face him again with a pout on her face. “You’re getting ahead of yourself.”
“You’re erasing my mood instead of my quirk,” she grumbled as she scrunched her nose towards him, in which his eyes squinted at her comment.
“That’s not funny,” he told her.
“Wasn’t trying to be. I just think your hero name should be changed to Mood-Eraser. It has a better ring to it,” she huffed.
“Shut up,” he grumbled back at her.
Her face changed to a smile now, then began to laugh at his reaction. “I like you when you’re grumpy and scowling.”
“I like you when you’re quiet,” he scoffed again.
“Then make me,” she egged him on, hoping for another kiss.
Aizawa sighed and brought his face closer to hers again. Emi, thinking she was going to get a kiss from him closed her eyes, she was instead met with his fingers pinching her cheek instead of a kiss on her lips.
“O-Ow!” Emi whined as she opened her eyes to see that Aizawa was not kissing her. “Eraser!”
“I’m not gonna let you get your way, Joke” he told her.
“Oh, come on!” she continued to whine.
Aizawa smirked, the let go of her cheek, leaning back now and standing straight. “Not gonna happen, Joke.”
“Watch, you’re gonna let me have my way sooner or later cause you’re gonna fall madly in love with me,” she crossed her arms and huffed.
“Whatever you say, Emi,” he sighed, then put his hands in his pockets.
“You’ll see! One day, Shouta!”
“But not today,” he said.
“But one day,” she said with more confidence now. “One day, you’re going to fall in love with me. You’ll see!”
“Yeah,” Aizawa let out a laugh. “We’ll see about that.”
“I had a great time tonight, Shouta,” Emi said softly as her cheeks were rosy and her hands were behind her back while she was also on her tippy toes. “I’ve always told you that a date with me wouldn’t be so bad.”
“Yeah, I guess I was wrong,” he let out a quick laugh.
It was the end of the night and past both their bedtimes as teachers. They both did not care about the time at the moment, but they knew their time had to come to finally come to an end.
“So, you’re still going to take me on that second date, right, Shouta?” Emi leaned in a bit and giggled. “I mean, you basically already said so.”
Aizawa scoffed, but then smirked at her as he brought his hands up to her forehead, poking it softly. “Yeah, yeah, you get your second date.”
“Ow,” she whined, rubbing her forehead after he poked it.
“I didn’t even poke you hard,” he sighed.
“Yeah, but it still hurts,” she told him. “Maybe you should kiss me to make it feel better.”
Aizawa put his hands in his pocket, then sighed again. “Good night, Joke.” He turned to walk away, but immediately felt Emi’s hand grab his arm, which he figured she would do.
“Hey! That’s not how you end a date, mister!” she whined some more.
Aizawa turned back to her, removing her hand from his arms and pulling her closer towards him, their chests touching and their lips only centimeters apart. Emi began to blush as their faces and bodies were close and watched as Aizawa gave her a sly smirk as he looked into her forest green eyes.
“Fine, I’ll end it on a good note,” he said before he pressed his lips onto hers. They kissed for a few seconds, Emi quickly falling into the kiss, then pulled apart moments later. “Better?”
“Y-Yes,” she began to stutter, still blushing.
“Good,” he told her, before pulling away from her. “I need to get going now, but let me know when you’re free, so that we can see each other again.”
“Y-Yeah! Of course!” she nodded as she blushed still. “Get home safe and go to sleep fast! Have some sweet dreams about me!”
“Not gonna happen,” he quickly retorted.
“Don’t knock it till you try it, Eraser,” she pointed at him, then giggled. “But seriously, get some sleep. I already feel bad I had you stay out so late.”
“It’s fine,” he told her. “I guess it was… it was kind of worth it.”
Emi softly smiled, then closed the gap between them again, this time, kissing him on the cheek. “I think it was worth it, too,” she giggled as she leaned away. “Good night, Shouta.”
“Good night, Emi.”
The Next Day
“Alright, class, today we will be doing rescue training. So, look alive and stay alert,” Aizawa told class A as he stood in front of the classroom, behind the podium. “Understood?”
“Yes, sir!” the whole class chanted at the same time.
“Good, get into your costumes,” Aizawa said as he collected his papers. “You have ten minutes.”
Aizawa left the classroom, leaving class A alone now. Some would say that Aizawa was the same as he was every day, but today, some of class A saw different.
“Aizawa sensei seems happy today,” Uraraka said, which caused some of her classmates to look back at her with furrowed brows. “What? You don’t see it?”
“No! What makes you say that?” Kaminari asked.
“Yeah! He obviously wasn’t happy,” Sero followed.
“I don’t know,” Uraraka said. “There was something different about him.”
“Honestly, I see it, too” Midoriya chimed in. “I mean, his scowl wasn’t as prominent as it usually is.”
“I agree with Midoriya,” Iida said now as he put his hand on his chin. “His brows weren’t as furrowed, and his eyes did not sulk too much.”
“You guys are weird for noticing that…” Mineta butted in. “He looked the same to me.”
“I know you’re not talking about being weird, pervert,” Jirou crossed her arms and murmured.
“Ha! Imagine he actually was happy cause he had a date or something!” Kaminari said, laughing then with Sero.
“Yeah, right! Sensei on a date!? What a laugh!” Sero laughed along.
“Oh my! I wonder who it would be with!” Ashido squealed. “I know Ms. Joke has a thing for him! Imagine!”
“That’s unlikely,” Shinsou sighed loudly. “Anyways, why does that even matter to you all anyways?”
“It was just an observation!” Uraraka told him. “I just thought his aura was a bit… different than usual.”
“You’re overthinking, pink cheeks,” Bakugou scoffed. “He was the same as always. You extras need to stop looking at people and mind your business.”
“For once, I agree with this ass,” Shinsou sighed again.
“What did you call me!?” Bakugou shouted at Shinsou, who obviously did not care or was fazed by him.
“Alright, alright, enough you two!” Kirishima pulled Bakugou back. “How about we all just drop it and get changed. Aizawa sensei is going to be mad if we don’t hurry up.”
“Crap! You’re right!” Kaminari gasped. “I don’t want to run laps again like last time we were late!”
“Fine, I’ll drop it,” Uraraka pouted and dropped her shoulders. “But I do think something is up with him.”
“Nothing is different about him,” Shinsou told her. “He’s the same old Aizawa sensei that we know.”
“Achoo!” Aizawa sneeze as he waited for his class to finish putting on their costumes. “Must be allergies.”
He rubbed his nose with his sleeve then heard his phone buzz within his pocket, in which he went into his pocket and pulled it out. He saw that it was a text from Emi, which he slightly smirked, but quickly went back to a scowl when he noticed he did that unintentionally.
Emi: How’s my handsome future husband doing this wonderful morning?
Shouta: I’m not your future husband… and don’t you have a class to teach?
Emi: Soon you will be! Also, my class is in the middle of training right now. I’m just spectating.
Shouta: Oh... and no, I’m not your future husband.
Emi: 😒 You’re no fun.
Shouta: I hate fun.
Emi: Obviously you not only eraser moods, you eraser fun 😒
Shouta: Shut up.
Emi: HAHA! That was a good one!
Shouta: No, it wasn’t.
Emi: Yes, it was! Haha!
Shouta: Do you want a second date or not?
Emi: Are you using that against me!? That’s not nice!
Shouta: You started it…
Emi: Doesn’t mean you have to say that 😭
Aizawa let out a quick laugh as he read her message, enjoying that he was teasing her instead of the other way around.
Shouta: Next week.
Emi: Next week what?
Shouta: Second date. That is, if you are available.
Emi: Hehe, I knew you couldn’t resist me Eraser! 😌
Shouta: Want me to change my mind?
Emi: NO!
Shouta: Good. Next week, your turn to pick a date.
Emi: 😁 OKAY, FUTURE HUSBAND!
