Work Text:
Shadow felt the stares of everyone as he walked through the market. He understood why they were scared of him, but he was trying to change. He even rescued a cat from a tree. Sure, he destroyed the tree, but the cat was okay. There had to be someone willing to help him, someone who would listen to his problems and feelings. There was only one person who could fit that description, but he didn't want to interact with him. He hated that guy.
He sighed. That guy was his only option, though. He had to suck it up and deal with it. Where would he even be? Maybe at home?
Shadow walked towards the little house on the beach. Here it was, the blue hedgehog's house. Here goes nothing. He knocked on it.
A blur of blue ran outside to greet him. "Hey Kn-Shadow, what brings you here?"
The black hedgehog sighed. "I know this may sound impossible, but I want to change, and I thought that maybe talking about my feelings would help. I've always thought of you as the one that's in tune with their emotions."
Sonic blinked a bit before nodding. "Okay, well," he sat on the porch. "What's making you think that you want to change?"
Shadow sat next to him. "There's someone I want to change for."
That made the other hedgehog perk up. "Oh? Who is it?"
Shadow rolled his eyes. "Fine, but you better promise not to be weird about it."
Sonic scooched closer. "Never, man."
The black hedgehog sighed. "I want to change because of you. There's something about you that makes me want to change. I don't know what it is, though. It's like, part of me wants to make you proud and want to be able to rely on me and be there for me."
Sonic wrapped his arms around him. "Shadow, that's called being in love."
He felt the other look at him. "Are-Do you return this newfound feeling?"
Sonic smiled. "Yes, Shadow, I do."
