Work Text:
There's something about those scars that Kai still finds both revolting and fascinating. It would only take a touch to overhaul and heal the burns on the back that's bared to him. With a gloved hand, he traces the line between scars and healthy skin, fingers lightly avoiding the staples.
Under his touch, Dabi stirs and wakes up. Mesmerising blue eyes look around then settle on him. Dabi's sharp edges seem to soften and something releases in Kai's chest, something he immediately smothers, packs away and destroys in his mind. This relationship is about convenience, about relief and shared goals.
---
Nothing but convenience, he repeats to himself as Dabi removes the sheet covering them and Kai's eyes linger on his naked body. Dabi hadn't bothered with clothes after they showered and changed the sheets. His clean skin always has a particular taste, something unique to Dabi and hard to identify although Kai can't help but keep trying. His mouth closes on the skin on Dabi's shoulder, right at the edge of the scars. He bites and tastes before moving to Dabi's neck.
"Think we've got time for another quick one," Dabi murmurs.
Kai hums in agreement, deft hands already moving.
---
Truly, they didn't have time for another round, not with the thorough aftercare Kai never willingly skips, and especially not with the way Dabi's washing him right now.
"We'll be late meeting your actual boss," Kai mutters and gasps when Dabi's hand moves just so.
"You seem to think that I care. He can wait. We've got stuff to do before meeting him anyway."
Kai prefers punctuality but isn't unwilling to be convinced.
Much, much later they are dressed again and walking side by side in comfortable silence, ready to wreak misery and teach a lesson to their common enemies.
