A Cabbage? A Bomb?

Summary:

Izuku expected a lot of things that day. He expected it to be a calm, beautiful morning. He would walk to his class, study well, be a good role model for his kouhais. Everything was going fine.

Of course, until he was hit by the cliche white bright light and brought him to another universe- Where, apparently, he was small and the successor of All Might's quirk.

The only good thing he had done that day was that he threw a cabbage at the number one hero. Or was it truly just a cabbage?

Work Text:

Everything was going fine for Izuku Midoriya. The sky is clear, the birds are chirping cheerfully outside, the wind is warm, and there aren’t any villains attacking him yet.

He was sitting on the floor with a coffee in hand, bags under his eyes as he fiddles with the yellow cat keychain he stole from Aizawa’s yellow sleeping bag. Aside from his daily dose of existential crisis, he was doing fine!

“Izuku, it’s time for class,” Aizawa called.

He nodded mindlessly, taking a sip from his coffee and pocketing the stolen keychain. He was just about to get up when something, a ray of light, bounced off the open window.

He squinted his eyes, his eyelids still heavy from his lack of sleep. “What is that–”

“Problem Child!” he heard Aizawa’s panicked voice once the bright light hits him on the foot and engulfed him whole.

On second thought, everything was not going fine for Izuku Midoriya.

He closed his eyes, cursing underneath his breath. “Oh, come on! Isn’t it too early for this?!” he whined, covering his eyes with his hands when the whole place seemed to brighten even with his eyes closed.

“Oh yeah. Before we leave…”

After a minute or two, he opened his eyes slowly, letting his eyes adjust to the place. Something about the voice he heard tickled the back of his mind. He definitely heard that ugly hoarse voice before.

“...Let’s smash some of his pride as the Symbol of Peace!”

Suddenly, it clicked.

“Oh, shit. It’s crusty fuck face!” his eyes widen.

He grabbed the gun from his pocket and forced his eyes to focus. He aimed towards the familiar hand-face villain, then–

BANG!

The villain screamed, taking a few steps back from the pain rushing through. “Who did that?!” Shigaraki yelled, eyeing the source of the shot.

You see, Izuku Midoriya is no sniper. At least, not in this situation. How can he when he was transported back to who knows where with the same USJ attack he already experienced before.

He didn’t have the time to prepare for camouflage. Hell, he didn’t even have the time to adjust at all. So sue him when the villain caught him, glaring holes through his head.

“NOMU! GET HIM! RIP HIM TO SHREDS!” the man-child ordered, holding his wrist to stop the bleeding from losing his hand, while all making sure to not put his pinky down.

Does his own quirk even work on him? He quirked his brow before shaking his head. “Focus, Izuku. It’s literally in your middle name. Izuku Focus Midoriya.” he whispered to himself.

He let out a deep breath, aiming for the villain’s other hand–

BANG!

Another scream from the villain.

“Ah, music to my ears,” He grinned before crinkling his nose, “Well, not really. He sounded like a dying possessed robot drowning under the pacific ocean,” he shuddered before putting down his gun to observe the injury he inflicted on the Shigaraki.

But before he could relax, the Nomu attacked him.

He clicked his tongue, aiming the gun towards the Nomu’s brain. “Where the fuck is the Symbol of fucking Peace?! Isn’t this his cue or something?!” he growled, shooting three bullets in the Nomu’s brain.

That absolutely did nothing to the Nomu.

“Alright, maybe gun– Hey!–isn’t always the answer!” he breathed out, dodging the Nomu’s attacks with the help of every platform he could step on. He shoots another bullet in the monster’s brain. Nothing.

He gritted his teeth when the Nomu got close, “Oh! Fuck you, hand-fucking-face! Get your fucking dog out of the way!” he yelled, eyes twitching in annoyance.

“I AM HERE!” The number one hero appeared before the Nomu got him.

“ALL MIGHT!” he heard the students below him cheer.

He run his fingers through his hair, “Finally.” he sighed, the tension leaving his shoulders. He ignored the fight in front of him. All Might, from his past experience, would win anyway.

Instead, he walked over to his mentor, who was bloodied up more than before.

“Stop! Who are you?!” a squeaky voice, that was cute , stopped him from his tracks.

He blinked. He looked down at… his lookalike. What the fuck? Was he always that small?

The other him was glaring at him, positioned in a fighting stance similar to what he could have guessed from All Might. A mouthguard was around his neck too, quite similar to what he had on his hero costume.

He surrendered his hands up in the air, there’s no way he’s going to fight another version of him. He already fights himself every day.

“I’m Izuku Midoriya, probably you but from another timeline or universe? Honestly, I’m leaning more on the other universe explanation– Actually, I’m guessing on both. I am not that small and I did not wear those clothes when this happened in the past.” he answered seamlessly.

His other self– Too wordy, he’ll call him Small Deku.

Small Deku’s eyes widen and his stance loses its tension from his body. “R-Really?” he stammered.

He nodded, conflicted about whether to be disappointed by how immediately trusting Small Deku was or be proud of how he understood what he meant. “I know you have a lot of questions, but I’ll answer those later,” patting his shoulder before passing him by to meet his mentor.

“‘Sup, ‘Zawa,” he called, kneeling down in front of the underground hero.

The hero glared at him– What’s up with people glaring at him today?

Aizawa has his quirk activated, and wasn’t that funny?

Izuku chuckled, “Chill. Vibe with me for a bit. I’m quirkless so your quirk can’t erase something that’s not even the–”

“You! Who are you?! You cheated! Cheater! Cheater!”

He rolled his eyes, standing up to meet the villain swimming in his own blood. “Shut up, I didn’t cheat. I improvised.” he grinned, grabbing something from his other pocket before forcibly putting it in the villain’s mouth. “Here, have a cabbage.”

Of course, the villain immediately spits it out. Who eats unwashed cabbage anyway? One coming from a stranger’s pocket?

“I’ll kill you!” Shigaraki screamed, standing on his feet to attack– Only for him to be down in a matter of seconds due to his lack of hands. He didn’t spar with his mentor every single day just for him to be taken down easily by an S-Class villain.

Izuku sat on top of him, holding the back of his head in place. “How are you going to kill me exactly?” Izuku teased, grabbing the villain’s torn hand from the ground, shaking it in front of his face.

“Tell me, Shigaraki. How would you with no quirk? No hands? No quirk!” he teased, watching the villain under him squirm and scream a sequence of curses at him. “That includes holding a knife, a gun, and so much more. You won’t even kill me with a fork!”

That seemed to aggravate the villain even more. Oh, dear Nedzu, this is so much fun!

“Problem Child!”

He– and his other self apparently– looked at their mentor.

“Stop toying with the villain! Apprehend him!” his mentor scolded.

He pouted, throwing the villain’s hand to the side.

“Eek! Get that away from me!” He ignored the grape head student.

He grabbed his handcuffs from his back pocket. “You see, I would,” he started, placing it on the villain’s hands, only for it to slide off. “But it’s difficult to handcuff someone when they don’t even have hands.” He looked at his mentor and beamed, “See?”

Aizawa grumbled, “Just hold him in place then!” he groaned, facing Small Deku with a glare, “And you, take your classmates–”

“No.” Izuku intervened, facing his other self, “You take ‘Zawa and your classmates out of here. Take him to Recovery Girl immediately and please go to Hound Dog after this, along with your classmates because Nedzu knows you need it. Capiche?”

Small Deku nodded, his lips quivering nervously, “C-Capiche…” he answered before gently carrying his mentor on his back.

Once they left, he grabbed his gun and pointed it directly on Shigaraki’s head. “Are we vibing Shigaraki?” he hummed, watching the villain glare daggers at him.

“I won’t let you off! I’ll kill you! I’ll let sensei know about you- Amph!”

He rolled his eyes, shoving cabbages in the villain’s mouth. “I’ve already heard it all before, think of something new.” he sighed. He turned his attention to All Might who was being assisted by the hero students.

It was the same song and dance before. He could help them, but the way the students dance their way around the Nomu was dangerous. He could shoot and accidentally hit one of the students.

But, if he were to shoot someone, it definitely would be the youngest Todoroki. What the fuck even is his costume? Fake ice? Really? Elsa fucking wannabe.

A minute or two, All Might finally win the damned fight.

“No– Ack!– The Nomu should’ve–”

BANG!

The villain under him shook uncontrollably. His eyes were wide and his heart beating at a very fast pace. His complexion was paler compared to before.

Izuku chuckled, resting his hand on his palm. “You’re fortunate I don’t have any more bullets.” he chirped, watching the handless villain squirm underneath him.

He was about to make another remark when a low-class villain shoved him off Shigaraki, and before he could even react, the two were gone.

The villains were teleported back. The pro-heroes came.

Yay. He thought.

He clicked his tongue. “Well, I’ll let the people here handle their future troubles.” he sighed, wiping the sweats that formed on his forehead.

“Young Man!”

His head perked to the side, meeting All Might’s eyes. “Why do you look like Young Mido–”

He pointed his gun towards the number one hero, startling everyone in sight.

“Another villain?!”

“All Might!”

“Why does he look like Midoriya?!”

“Deku!”

“I’d shoot you,” Izuku warned, glaring at the number one hero in front of him. “Unfortunately, I don’t have any bullets left anymore.” he returned the gun to his pocket.

Instead, he threw a whole cabbage towards the hero–

“Where the hell did that come from?!” the younger hero students screamed.

All Might caught it with his brows quirked together, “Young man, what–”

“There’s a bomb inside that. If you want to live, throw it or I don’t know.” Izuku shrugged, turning away to meet his other-self.

He ignored the students calling the number one hero’s name.

“I don’t know how you tolerate that dick-head,” he muttered, raising his brow, “I assume you experienced the talk on top of that rooftop before?” he asked, smiling widely when the younger version of him stilled.

Aizawa narrowed his eyes, obviously noticing the tension on his student’s body. “What talk are you talking about?” he glared, looking at the older teen for answers.

Izuku shrugged, content with the confusion in his mentor’s eyes. If Aizawa figures it out, he’ll be able to help this version of him more. “It’s not mine to tell,” he answered, turning his attention back to Small Deku.

The young version of him was shaking, lips quivering and his eyes shifting a lot to avoid his eyes. “A-Ahm…” he stammered.

“Give ‘Zawa to Tsuyu first so they can go to Recovery Girl, then we’ll talk,” he ordered, pointing to the green schemed female hero. The two nodded, Small Deku giving Aizawa to Tsuyu and Tsuyu carrying their teacher gently before leaving the place.

“S-So… Ahm, did you… inherit the power, too?” Small Deku asked, fidgeting his hands.

Izuku narrowed his eyes, making the young teen flinch. “Why would I need that? Do you think I can’t become a hero without a quirk?” he asked.

“I-I…” Small Deku averted his gaze. After years of torment and verbal abuse from the people around him, all of them telling him he couldn’t become a hero without a quirk– He wasn’t sure how to answer the question.

Izuku’s gaze softened, ruffling his younger version’s hair. “The answer should be yes, Izuku.” he grinned, watching his other self tear up with a new light in his eyes.

“It would be hard, but with your efforts, I believe you can,” he pulled Small Deku into a warm embrace, letting the young boy sob in his arms. “With or no quirk,” he added, rubbing his back fondly. “Even if you have that dick-head’s quirk now, of course,” he chuckled to lighten up the mood.

He heard Small Deku chuckle in his chest, he did too.

“Young Midoriya! Don’t get too close with him, we don’t know him!”

He rolled his eyes when he heard All Might’s voice again.

Before he could trash-talk the hero, light engulfed him again. He felt the younger version of him disappear from his grasp.

He closed his eyes, “This shit is too dramatic. For what?” If he could roll his eyes, he would. He would do so to the point he would look at his brain and complain how cliche this shit is.

A minute or two, the light was gone.

“Problem Child! What happ– Why are you hugging yourself?”

Ah, ‘Zawa. He could recognize that voice anywhere.

He opened his eyes, facing the whole faculty in front of him. They all looked at him with worry and concern. Present Mic looks like he was near having a panic attack. Midnight looks close to going feral and searching the whole campus. The others, well, they were tired.

This was the 3rd time he was affected by something this week. It was only Tuesday, damn it.

He sighed, he’s too tired to make a report right now. He grabbed a cabbage from his pocket and threw it at Aizawa, which by the way, was unconsciously wearing cat ears Izuku sneaked in that morning.

“What is this—”

“A cabbage? A bomb? I don’t know.” he groaned, walking over to his mentor’s sleeping bag and putting it on.

Once he was settled in, he spoke.

“Oh, wait. That one’s a bomb.”

Screams from the faculty ensued.

Notes:

idk anymore I wrote this while cramming for my school activities. Please don't disguise bombs as cabbages.
