Chapter Text
Midoriya was sitting in his dorm room, trying to sleep, when a bright flash of white appeared. Next thing he knew, he was in some sort of movie theater, with a lot of people he knew. Aizawa-Sensei, Present Mic, Midnight, Nezu, and All Might were all here. So were all of his classmates, Eri, Hatsume Mei, and Shinsou.
All of them had various amounts of confusion visible on their faces. From the back of the room, a mysterious figure approached and started to speak. “Ok, now this might be very confusing-”
A couple of people shouted things like, “A little?” “What’s going on?!” “Who are you?” and “Why are we here and where is here!”
The figure held their hands up, and everyone stopped talking. They paused for a moment, before speaking again. “Ok. This time, I’m going to finish speaking, and then you can ask any questions. Kapeesh?” Nods of heads went throughout the room. “Ok, good. So basically, to make sure none of you have existential crisis’s, I have the power, or uh- quirk, to show people their past and future in a TV show style.” They extended their arms and pointed to things as they spoke.
“This movie theater is basically my ‘quirk’, as you would call it. Bathrooms, eating areas, places to sit and sleep, etc.” The figure lowered their arms.
Aizawa-Sensei walked a bit closer to said figure while speaking. “And why would we listen to you?”
“I wasn’t finished but okay. Well you really have no other choice. Plus when you are here, time in your world is paused, so you could be in here for years and years, yet not age at all, and when I sent you back, nothing would really change. Well, you would have a lot of new memories but other than that, nothing.”
Nezu was the next one to ask a question. “So if I may know, why did you want us here?”
The figure shrugged their arms, “To be honest with you? I got bored and thought it might be fun to see you guys react to your own lives. So are you all willing?” Most people nodded their heads, some answered with “Why not?”, and others gave out a small “Sure.”
“Okay that’s all settled. So everyone go find a place to sit, oh! Right where are my manners, my name is something I don’t feel comfortable sharing, but you guys can call me Snowly. Or Boo. Whatever you prefer, and I use any pronouns, including neopronouns. Oh and Mineta, if you comment some homophobic, transphobic, or sexist comment, I will personally kick you into a wall.”
At this point everyone had sat down in one of the many chairs, beanbags, sofa’s. All the teachers were sitting on the same sofa, Nezu being in Aizawa’s scarf. Mei had took a beanbag for herself, and put it next to the couch the Dekusquad was sharing. Eri had sat down in Midoriya’s lap, while Midoriya held onto her. The Bakusquad had taken up their own couch, on the opposite side of the room from the Dekusquad.
Yaomomo, Jirou, Tokoyami, and Hagakure filled up another couch that was right behind the Dekusquad’s couch. On the other side of the room, Ojiro, Koda, Shoji all filled up another couch behind the Bakusquad. The last couch behind the teachers was taken up by Aoyama, Sato, and Mineta. Shinsou had looked indecisive about where to sit, but eventually took another beanbag and set it inbetween the teacher's couch and the Dekusquad’s couch.
“I will be in the back of the theater, and if you need anything, feel free to call my name. I can summon just about anything, so if you need it, or want it, feel free to ask. Oh and if enough people look away from the screen, it will automatically pause. Now that that’s all said and done, lets start!”
The big TV on the screen turned on, starting the episode. A little Midoriya was shown on the screen, standing over another child, both in a park.
Mina squealed. “Awww Mido! I didn’t know you looked so cute when you were little!!” Hagakure giggled. “Yeah I agree with Mina, your adorable!!”
Midoriya blushed and mumbled out a thanks.
”Why are you being so mean! Your making him cry Kacchan! If you keep on hurting him, I’ll uh… I’ll stop you myself!” Little Bakugou just scoffed. “You wanna pretend to be a hero?” He used his quirk, making small explosions come off his hands. “You don’t stand a chance without a quirk. Deku.” Little Midoriya visibly flinched, and then got beat up, leaving him laying down in the sand, visible injuries and scuffs.
Uraraka gasped, and grabbed Midoriya’s arm. Eri pulled herself closer to Midoriya, and Shinsou looked at him with concern. The teacher’s all gasped, and the Bakusquad, other then Bakugou, looked at Bakugou with distrust and betrayal.
An older Midoriya’s voice started to speak. “Here’s the sad truth. All men are not created equal. When I was four years old, I learned some kids have more power than others.” The scene changed to now an older looking Midoriya, running down the street. “But that won’t hold me back.”
Everyone looked just a bit more relived after that.
The still younger Midoriya continued to run, eventually running all the way to a villain fight. The Midoriya in frame smiled and gasped, before exclaiming, “That’s one huge supervillain!” Then a catchy song and intro played, with All Might, and Class 1-A all standing heroically. Then a couple parallels of Midoriya and Bakugou, before some fight scenes, mostly of All Might and Aizawa. It ended with all of Class 1-A in a huddle, all posing again.
All of the students (some more so than others) were all in awe, all asking about how if that was their intro. Snowly held their hand up, shutting up everyone. “Yes, like I said, my quirk allows you to see the past and future, in a TV show style. I should also mention, there will be some movie style effects, just to exaggerate some things. Now keep watching!”
The older voice of Midoriya spoke again. He told the story of how quirks came to pass, all starting with one glowing baby in Chingching city. How people just suddenly started to gain these powers, or what people called ‘quirks’. Then he continued to say that now, 80% of the population now had quirks, only 20% were left quirkless. All of this was shown with different visuals of what Midoriya was saying.
Nezu interrupted. “While the world population of quirkless people is 20%, Japan is one of the few countries where quirkless people basically don’t exist. And most of the quirkless people in Japan are older people, so most of you will never meet a quirkless person born in Japan, or even living in Japan.”
The scene changed again, back to the fight younger Midoriya ran up to. Kamui Woods and Death Arms were the ones engaged in a fight with the villain, while Backdraft was trying to keep the crowd that had gathered back. All of the hero’s got little scenes where they looked like they were in a comic book. Meanwhile, Midoriya was slowly making his way through the crowd, eventually getting to the front.
Aizawa just sighed, and muttered, “Problem child. Alright everyone listen. Never get close or in a crowd next to a fight like that, it causes problems for the hero’s and also puts you in danger.” All of the students in chorus responded, “Yes Sensei.”
The Midoriya on screen was exclaiming how Kamui Woods was new on the scene, yet he was making a big name for himself. Another bystander commented that Midoriya seemed like a big fanboy. Midoriya just blushed and mumbled out “Yeah kinda…” Kamui Woods was talking about how what the villain was doing was against the law, and how he was the incarnate of evil, almost in a monologue way.
Ojiro made a comment. “He’s really only a small villain, not the ‘incarnate of evil’”
Midoriya pointed out how Kamui Woods was going to use his special move, and in sync, both Midoriya and Kamui Woods said, “Preemptive! Binding! Lacquered Chain Prison!” Right as he was using his special move, Mount Lady quite literally jumped in. A bunch of people (probably reporters) with camera started to take a lot of pictures.”
Mineta near wailed, “Midoriya!! You were at Mount Lady’s debut?! No fair!! She’s so hot and-” Tsu slapped him with her tongue.
Kaminari filled the silence with more words. “But yeah, that’s really cool you got to see a debut!! And from Mount Lady no less!”
More reporter continued to take pictures, and Mount Lady was cheered on. Kamui Woods just kinda stood there, all the attention being taken from him.
“Aw, Kamui Woods looks so dejected!” That was Mina. “Yeah, he looks so sad! I would be pretty frustrated if all the attention got stolen from me too.” Hagakure.
Midoriya was shown writing down in his notebook, mumbling about how well Mount Lady might do as a hero. Mumbling about her quirk, her attitude, and personality and that.
Uraraka shook Midoriya’s shoulder. “Woah wait- is that what you do when you mumble? That’s so cool!”
Midoriya blushed and shook his head. “No it’s really not, just a small hobby. It’s kinda creepy…”
The rest of the girls all shook their heads and denied that, and that “Yeah it’s really cool!” Iida and Todoroki also chimed in about how it was really cool. Midoriya continued to deny what they were saying, until Nezu finally chimed in. “Midoriya, that’s not just a hobby. Analyzing can be very important as a hero, and if you didn’t become a hero, you could have become a professional analyzer, which are highly sought after!”
Midoriya looked stunned, and mumbled out an okay. All the attention went back to the screen.
The same guy who had called out Midoriya for being a fanboy saw that he was taking notes, and asked if Midoriya wanted to become a hero. Midoriya looked extremely happy, before answering with, “Yes! More than anything!” A yellow screen flashed up, with kanji that read ‘Episode 1: Izuku Midoriya: Origin’.
The scene flicked to a classroom in Aldera Junior High, where a teacher was talking. “So, as third year students, it’s time to start thinking seriously about what your futures and what you want to do with your lives. I could pass out some career aptitude tests… but-” the teacher harshly grabbed some papers, “Why bother? I know you all want to go to the hero track!” He threw all of the papers, and all of the students could be seen using all of their different quirks.
Iida stood up very fast, hand chopping. “Why is the teacher allowing this! Quirk usage is only allowed in certain situations, this is very illegal!”
Nezu chirped, “I agree, this is illegal. Very illegal. What was the name of this school again?”
Bakugou, surprisingly, was the one who answered. “Aldera Junior High. It’s a shitty ass school with shitty ass teachers.”
Nezu nodded and wrote that down in a notebook (where did that come from-) and chirped out as thanks. All eyes went back to the screen.
The teacher continued to go on, all while everyone’s quirk was being showed off other than Midoriya. Then the camera panned towards Bakugou, who also wasn’t using his quirk. He went on a small rant about how he was better than “all these losers” and how he was the best of the best. The rest of the class were… less than happy with this all yelling about how that they could easily beat him in a fight, while Bakugou just challenged them back.
The teacher commented on how his test results were impressive, and how he might get into UA. Gossip started about how “He was going to try for the national school?!” and “That school has 0.2 acceptance rate!” Midoriya just looked very uncomfortable.
Bakugou just continued to boast about how it was the only school fit for him, and how he was almost perfectly suited for it.
Present Mic sent a glance to Bakugou. “You seem extremely confident. What if you didn’t get in?”
Bakugou sent back a glare, just saying, “I know I would have passed. Now lets just continue watching.” and then huffed.
The teacher commented how Midoriya wanted to go to UA as well. Midoriya just looked more uncomfortable. All talking stopped, and everyone just stared at him for a moment. Before laughing, right in his face.
Shinsou looked confused and turned to Midoriya. “Why are they all laughing?”
Midoriya looked sheepish, before saying, “You’ll probably see.”
Some other classmate had said that Midoriya would never be able to get into UA without a quirk. Midoriya stood up and had declared that they had removed that rule, and that he could be the first one. Bakugou then used his quirk to push Midoriya down to the ground. “Listen up, Deku. You're even worse than the rest of these rejects, you quirkless wannabe! Do you really think they would let someone in like you when they could have me?!”
Midoriya slid across the floor, trying to get away from Bakugou, all while saying that he wasn’t trying to compete with him. Plus, that it had been his dream since he was little, and he could at least try his hardest.
Bakugou just continued to scream that he could never make it, and that he’d die in the exams. The other classmates and Bakugou had all turned into shadow’s that looked like monsters. All towering over Midoriya.
Bakugou stiffened, as well as All Might. The rest of the class was in confusion and shock, all being confused as why Midoriya was being called quirkless. Eventually Midnight, Present Mic, and Aizawa calmed everyone down.
Snowly then spoke up. “Before anything else, I want to say this. If you are starting to feel mad or betrayed by Bakugou, please don’t. One, he was a kid. Two, he has changed drastically since then. So just a fair warning.”
Bakugou continued to taunt Midoriya, while the rest of his classmates laugh. Midoriya at this point looked like he agreed with them and had gave up. The scene changed again, this time in a part of a city, where some sort of sludge villain had stolen some cash and was now running away down the street. Some more bystanders were commenting on where all the hero’s might be, as a skeletal looking man with yellow hair walked out of a grocery store.
Said man grew taller and gained muscles quickly, and interrupted the bystanders. They immediately brightened up, gaining huge smiles on their faces. The sludge villain visible got scared or nervous, as the now more muscular man said, “I am here!”
Midnight had let out a comment of, “That’s still really weird to me. That you can just inflate like a balloon.” A lot of others agreed.
The scene had changed again, back to the same classroom, but this time, empty. Midoriya had commented to himself that the fight that had happened this morning was all over the news, and how he should probably take some notes. He was about to put his notebook into his backpack, and then it was suddenly grabbed. Bakugou again towered over Midoriya, waving his notebook around.
Jirou suddenly said, “Well here goes the bully again.” Which had just made Bakugou stand up and scream, “WHAT? DO YOU WANNA GO EARS?!” Aizawa roped Bakugou back into his seat, and then everyone went back to watching the screen.
”I don’t know what you think your doing Deku, but we're not done.” Two other kids came up behind Bakugou, and asked him, “What’cha got? His diary?” Bakugou them held up the notebook, which had ‘Hero Analysis for the Future: #13’. Which the two other kids just laughed and said that it was pathetic. Midoriya had asked for it back, and Bakugou who hadn’t said a single word, just blew it up, and threw it out a window. Midoriya tried reaching for it, but was unsuccessful. Bakugou then continued to talk about how be was better, and how he knew he was supposed to be a hero.
Kaminari scoffed. “Well damn, do you have an ego.”
“I DON’T HAVE AN EGO!”
”That’s not ego talking, I just know I’m that good.” Meanwhile one of the other kids quietly said, “Ego~”
“See! Even they agree!” Present Mic let out a small giggle, as well as the rest of the Bakusquad.
Bakugou put his hand on Midoriya’s shoulder, using his quirk to slightly burn him. “Here’s a word of advice. Don’t even think of applying, or else.” Midoriya just stood in place, not moving, and not talking. The other bullies followed Bakugou out the door, sounding disappointed that Midoriya wasn’t fighting back.
“You know if you want to be a hero, there actually might be another way. Just pray that you’ll be born with a quirk in your next life, and take a swan dive off the roof of the building!” Midoriya turned around, looking ready to fight, but after a few explosions went off, all that confidence melted away.
It had finally sunk through to everyone what had just happened, and the best way to describe what had followed, was chaos. Midoriya folded into himself whilst Eri just hugged him. The Dekusquad looked ready to murder, Mei was in a state of what was probably surprise, and Shinsou looked concerned, confused, and also mad. The Bakusquad had all turned to Bakugou with different levels of horror, Bakugou at least looked remorseful. The rest of the class was gasping, some standing up saying how wrong that was.
The teachers had the most reaction. Aizawa looked ready to kill, Present Mic and Midnight had pure horror written across their face. All Might had a scowl on his face, and Nezu looked disdainful. All of them were standing up, getting ready to probably walk over to Bakugou.
Snowly snapped their fingers, and everyone who was standing sat back down, and anybody that was talking had some sort of invisible tape over their mouth. “Ok, I get that was a lot. But again, remember what I said earlier. Later I won’t stop you but at least finish this episode first.”
The scene changed to one where Midoriya was now walking in an alley, talking to himself in his head. ‘Idiot. You can’t go around telling people to kill themselves. What if I really jumped? What would he do then?’ He looked over to see his notebook getting eaten by some koi fish in some pond. Midoriya now was talking out loud. “My dreams have now been turned into fish food. That’s enough, give it back.”
He grabbed the notebook and commented again, to himself, “Stupid jerk.” And the scene did a little flash, as in a flashback was happening.
Everyone was still in a bit of horror over the last comment. Midoriya still wasn’t looking at anyone other than Eri, who both of them were engaged in their hug.
A baby Midoriya popped his head around a door and ran up to his Mom. All while holding an All Might figure, and saying something about ‘computer time’. He was full of energy, quite literally bouncing around.
Mina, in this very awkward situation, started to talk again. “I mean this is terrible to watch but… Baby Mido saves the day by being the ice breaker! Yeah!!” Which had gotten quite a few laughs at, as well as Midnight and Hagakure both joining in on saying how cute ‘Baby Mido’ was.
Midoriya’s Mom commented how many times he’s watched it, and baby Midoriya just continued to rock back and forth in the chair. Midoriya’s Mom turned on the computer, to a video, where All Might was being a hero and saving people. Aka, his hero debut. Midoriya’s older voice told this, while little Midoriya was getting more and more excited.
He was exclaiming how cool he was, and that once he got his quirk, he would be just like him. Then the scene shifts to a doctor’s office. The doctor says that he wouldn’t develop a quirk, and that he should stop hoping.
Tsu held a finger to her chin. “Midoriya, everyone says that your quirkless, yet you aren’t. How?”
Midoriya grimaced. “Uh- again I said it would be explained later on, probably. Be a bit more patient, I’m sure it comes up soon.”
Little Midoriya was sitting at the chair, with the same video from before on loop. He says how All Might was strong and never gave up. “Do you think… Do you think I can be a hero too?” which his mother just replies by hugging him, and apologizing over and over again.
Midnight looks close to tears. “NoOoOooo- Baby is sad. Fuck it, you need a hug.” And so Midnight stands up, and along with the Dekusquad, Eri, and surprisingly Shinsou, all hug Midoriya, who is crying at this point. “While I appreciate the feelings and cute moment you guys are having, and how Midnight, your basically a Mother right now, we still have to watch the episode. There are another 100 or so episodes so lets get this show on the road.”
Everyone gets situated again, this time with Midnight sitting at the Dekusquad couch.
Narrator Midoriya says how that’s not what he had wanted to hear, in an almost-in-tears voice. Middle school Midoriyais now shown walking under an underpass, trying to be confident.
In the background, the sludge villain started to come out of the sewers, getting taller and taller. “You’ll make a perfect skinsuit kid.” And then a few seconds later, before Midoriya even gets the chance to run, the sludge villain is shoving up sludge up Midoriya’s mouth and nose.
Bakugou looks absolutely mortified, as the video is still showing Midoriya choking but struggling. Some people, Yaomomo, Present Mic, Ojiro, and Koda for the most part, are all half looking away.
At the exact moment Midoriya was thinking that he was going to die, All Might popped out of the same sewer that the sludge villain came out of, throwing a ‘Texas Smash’. The smash created enough wind to completely separate the villain and letting Midoriya free.
Several people sighed in relief. “Dek- um or Midoriya if that’s better? But anyway, I’m glad you're alright!” Uraraka was hugging him at this point.
“I’m fine though, aren’t I right here?” Uraraka scrunched up her face. “Yeah, but I’m still glad you're alright!”
The scene went to a very dead looking Midoriya, who was slapped again and again until he woke up. “Oh good! Thought we’d lost you there!” Midoriya continued to have a small little freak out, not making any words comprehensible.
Sero chuckled. “And there’s the fanboy Mido we all know and love.”
Meanwhile Aizawa was lecturing All Might about how to wake an unconscious person.
Eventually, on screen Midoriya got a hang of words, asking for an autograph, which his notebook had already been signed. He lost a hang of words again, mumbling about ‘how it would be a family heirloom’.
Aizawa had finally had enough of chewing out All Might, and both of them looked at the screen, All Might chuckling and Aizawa hiding a smile behind his scarf.
All Might had said that he had to leave, which Midoriya looked disappointed. He wanted to ask more questions, and yet he was flying away. All Might did fly away, but the scene changes to mid-air, where Midoriya was hanging onto his leg, wind blowing back his face.
All Might tried to get Midoriya off, which to that he just replied with, “If I let go, I’ll die!!” All Might stopped trying to get him off, realizing he had a point.
Aizawa just sighed. “Problem Child, why do you do the things you do? You could have died.”
“Sorry Aizawa-Sensei. I’ll try not to do something like that again but no promises.”
Midnight squealed. “Aw Shou! Your becoming soft!”
“No I’m not.”
“Yeah-huh~”
“Nope.”
Some blood dripped out of All Might’s mouth, before the two of them landed on a building. “That wasn’t a very smart move. Bang on the door, and someone will let you in. Now! I have to go. See you on the flip-side!” Midoriya tried to get All Might to stay for a bit longer, before the words of his doctor, Bakugou, and Mom came back to him.
Mid-sentence, he paused. He thought about how he sometimes thought how he was a failure, but how he would never give up. “Is it possible to become a hero, even if I don’t have a quirk?”
The outro then played, with another catchy song and more dramatic poses. The screen went black, and the lights got turned up.
Snowly got up from their position. “Ok, so while I would prefer us to watch a few more episodes, this one has been a lot more emotional than I thought was going to happen, so I’m letting y’all take a break.”
Kaminari looked at the now black screen. “Aw man, but now I’m interested! What did All Might say! I hate cliffhangers.”
Kirishima patted him on the back. “Yeah, but now we can probably find some snacks!” Kaminari perked up at ‘snacks’, and both of them rushed to the food area that was pointed out earlier.
//
Midnight was currently hugging a very confused Midoriya and a pleased Eri. “That’s it, you’re both so cute, that I’m adopting you.”
Midoriya was a blushing confused mess, who eventually got out, “But I have a Mom already!”
“Doesn’t mean you can’t have another one!”
Uraraka held a hand to her chin, just a little tic that she had picked up from Midoriya. “So can we call you Momnight?”
Iida looked extremely appalled. “Uraraka you can’t just give out a name like that to our Sensei-”
“Iida. Tenya- honey. I’m fine with it and would be extremely happy if you called me that. Plus I have decided. I’m unofficially adopting all of you!”
A deeper voice chimed in, belonging to Todoroki who also smiled. “I would like that”
