Work Text:
Ryan had been distant all day, staring at his computer, staring at his coffee, staring at the papers on his desk. Esposito couldn't handle it anymore. He closed his hand around Ryan's upper arm when he got the chance and dragged him to the break room. Ryan didn't move as Esposito closed the doors to give them some privacy.
"Okay, now you're going to tell me what's wrong."
"Nothing's wrong." Ryan mumbled, looking at his hands.
Esposito sighed and walked until he stood right in front of his partner.
"Kevin."
Ryan looked up when he heard Esposito's voice soften.
"You're hurting. Tell me what's wrong."
"You're going to hate me."
"Humor me."
Esposito couldn't help the sarcastic tone of his last comment.
Ryan averted his eyes from his partner again before taking a deep breath.
"I think I'm bisexual."
Ryan was speaking so silently Esposito had almost missed it.
"Oh."
Ryan flinched.
"No, it's not something bad, I just thought you knew." Esposito quickly said.
"Knew what?"
"That I'm bisexual myself."
"Oh."
Ryan relaxed and blushed. Esposito smiled.
"I told you I wouldn't hate you." He winked. He put his arm around his partner's shoulders and Ryan's arm swung around his middle, like they had done so many times in the past.
He had only wished Ryan had told him even more. But at least there might be a chance that his friendship with Ryan could evolve in something more intimate. He could be patient if he needed to.
"Come on, let's go back to work and tonight we're having beer and pizza to celebrate." Esposito grinned.
"Yeah, I can live with that." Ryan smiled.
