Summary

After escaping the Baron's Fortress Prison, Layla is still haunted by what happened. In an effort to distance herself from her violent and bloody past, Layla hides who she is from everyone around her. That is until she meets Jak and realizes she can no longer sit on the sidelines as Haven City and her own sanity begin to unravel at the seems.
Meanwhile the young hopeful and courageous hero of Sandover Village dies after years of experimentation and torture. When Jak finally escapes, he's no longer the same young man who went in. Filled with hate and blood lust, he vows to kill Baron Praxis and anyone else who stands in his way. Only for his eyes and heart to slowly be opened by a snappy red-headed mercenary who calls herself Harper.
