Stupidly Smart? (Smartly Stupid?)

Summary:

"Maybe when pigs fly you could become a hero with a quirk, dipshit!" Katsuki snorted, laughing as they leave the room.

Izuku took that personally. He took that as a challenge.

OR a fic where Izuku does make a pig that can fly.

Work Text:

Izuku Midoriya stood at the center of their house's hidden basement, dumbfounded. His complexion was pale and his shoulders shook from both fear and excitement. His mouth hung open as he stares at the anomaly he just created.

The anomaly flew around the basement, creating small noises that indicate its joy while flying around.

His lips twitched, his head slowly taking in the result of months of his experimentation.

After a few seconds, he spoke. "I did it..." he inhaled sharply, moving slowly to his desk scattered with disorganized papers and documents before sitting down.

He turned his head back and winced when he saw his creation fly over their old antiques, the anomaly letting a loud screech when old boxes fell over it. It trashed all of the places, scattering the objects inside the old boxes. "Please don't make a mess, it's already messy here without you helping," he sighed.

The anomaly just made a noise, shaking off the dust and stuff he was covered with.

His eyes lit up, "That's amazing. Is that a response? Can you understand what I say?" he asked, grinning from ear to ear.

The anomaly just stared at him, its mouth seemingly forming into a smile. It didn't answer. That made him frown. Their chubby cheeks were cute though. He kind of want to pinch it. Their cheek must be still soft since it's still a—

He shook his head, "No, Izuku. Focus." he told himself.

With that, Izuku focused back on his desk. He pursed his lips, picking up his pen with trembling hands.

He took a deep breath, closing his eyes before opening them again once he had calmed down. Then, he writes.

----------
Dear Diary,

Life, as we know, has now been changed forever. My life now will not be the same as before with my discovery. I have created something that has been known as impossible. Although I knew that creating this absurd animal is near to 0.000000000000001%. I have managed to do it. It is now looking at me from the basement's corner, all while chewing on an old toy I lost a decade ago. It is quite cute if I say so myself. I just hope I don't get arrested for genetically modifying a pig to have wings. I hope this pig— That sounds rude, I will call him 'Strawbery' for now since... He's kind of red with white spots, I assume to be his freckles—Can pigs have freckles? I have to search for it later on. Anyhow, I hope this proves to Kacchan that I can still be a hero. Plus Ultra!

From yours truly,
Izuku (Deku).

He closed his diary and focused his attention back on the flying pig, namely Strawberry, that he managed to create.

Honestly, he wasn't expecting it to actually work. Scientists have already tried to genetically modify pigs to fly, but they all ultimately failed with their attempts. They concluded that their wanted result could not be reached unless with the help of a quirk that could do so.

So how does a 14 years old student, quirkless and deemed useless by society, manage to do it? No one knows. Heck, Izuku doesn't even know.

He just made it out of spite. After Katsuki told him to take a swan dive off the roof, he still stubbornly said that he could still be a hero and that he could still manifest a quirk. Katsuki and his lackeys, of course, just laughed at his so-called idiotic dream.

The latest late bloomer was 6 years old. There was no way a 14-year-old, middle school student could even manifest one in his age.

"Maybe when pigs fly you could become a hero with a quirk, dipshit!" Katsuki snorted, laughing as they leave the room.

Izuku took that personally. He took that as a challenge. He asked his Mom to buy him male and female pigs, so he can conduct his experiments with their offspring. Three were born, two as normal piglets, and the other with wings.

Now here he is, picking up the said pig that can fly in his arms.

He smiled, biting his lips to contain his urge to squeeze the pig in his arms. "Strawberry, do you think I can become a hero, quirk or no quirk?" he asked, opening the door to their house to leave the basement.

Oink, oink!

Izuku rolled his eyes, laughing slightly from its cute response, "I'll take that as a yes," he hummed, walking up to the staircase to meet his mom.

"Izuku, honey! Is that you?" Inko asked all the way from their kitchen.

"Yes, Mom!" he answered back, running towards her direction, "No running, Izuku!" his mom scolded, but he could care less at the moment.

Inko almost stumbled back when Izuku jumped on her, "Izuku! Be careful–"

"Mom, look! I did it! I made the pig— I mean Strawberry fly!" he showed her— more practically shoving the pig to her face, "Mom! Mom! See? It has wings! And it could fly!"

Inko stilled, eyes wide open as she looks at the pig in disbelief, "What is—" she grimaced when the pig suddenly licked her cheek.

"I named him Strawberry! It's Berney (male pig) and Berta's (female pig) youngest piglet! Remember when I added a gene from a white-tailed hawk to their egg and sperm cells? It has the hawk's wing trait in it! I honestly thought it was going to fail because it has never been done before, and people have already stopped genetic modification nowadays because mutants exist now. Still! It was successful! I was kind of sad when Barnet and Barney didn't have wings like Strawberry, though." he frowned, poking Strawberry's cheeks softly.

"Izuku—"

"Anyways, Mom! I'm going to Kacchan's place and show him! I'll be back before six, I love you!" he rushed and kissed her cheek, the one without Strawberry's saliva, before leaving straight away.

After a few minutes of running, he knocked on the Bakugou's household. "Kacchan! I have something to show you!" he called.

"Katsuki! Get here, you brat! Izuku is here for you after a long time! Get your ass here!" he heard Auntie Mitsuki yell.

"HA?! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT FUCKING DE—IZUKU WANT?!" he heard Katsuki yell, before opening the door with obvious rage. He looks like a volcano that's been waiting to explode.

But Izuku couldn't care much right now, instead, he lifted Strawberry to Katsuki's face."Look! I made a flying pig!" he cheered, jumping up and down, excited for his childhood friend's reaction.

Oink! Oink!

The pig licked Katsuki's face, leaving traces of web-like saliva on his face.

He froze in place, his eyes seemed to turn white. Katsuki blue screened.

Izuku frowned, "Kacchan?" he called, tilting his head to look at his childhood friend.

Oink! Oinkkk!

A moment or two, Katsuki came back to his senses, explosions coming out of his palms. "DEKU!! WHAT THE FUCK?!"

Izuku flinched, “It’s–”

OINK! OINK! OINK!

The pig flew away in panic from the explosions.

Izuku's eyes widen, "NO! STRAWBERRY! DON'T FLY THERE!" he screeched, watching his pet pig fly away from them.

Explosions occurred in their city, along with the sky raining rainbow-colored candies, cats suddenly talk in human language, dogs can now walk in two legs, rats now run a mafia, trashcans can puke out money,  and it was all because of a certain pig.

Everything impossible became possible. Luckily, Izuku was able to get Strawberry back after a full eight hours of running around their city.

Izuku collapsed on the ground, breathing heavily with Strawberry in his arms, "You know... " he breathed out, closing his eyes, "Of all the things that happened today, I still don't have a quirk."

Oink! Oink! Oink! Oink!

He opened his eyes, glaring softly at the pig laying on his chest. The pig was now chewing on his shirt, but he didn't mind it. He just let him be.

Oink! Oink!

"OI DEKU! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!"

He looked up, tired eyes squinting to see his childhood friend glaring holes at his skull.

He grinned, his fear overshadowed by his fatigue and tiredness. He'll face his consequences once he wakes up.

"Kacchan... I'm starting to think my quirk is being stupidly smart, but stupid nonetheless for creating Strawberry..." he muttered, his eyes rolling back before initially passing out.

Oink! Oink! OINKKK!!!
