“You ready to go, bug?” Lena called from Kara’s front door. Kara was still trying to pick the perfect outfit, but it was hard since she didn’t know where they were going.
“Almost! Are you sure you can’t just tell me?”
“Hmm, I’m sure. It’s a surprise. Don’t worry. I talked to Alex and we both think you’ll love it.”
“Is Alex coming?”
“Not today. It’s just going to be you and me.”
“Okay!” Kara ran back to her room and changed her outfit one more time.
“Kara, you look perfect. Are you ready to go now?” Kara had on a pair of jeans and a purple t-shirt with a t-rex skeleton on it.
“Yeah. Can I bring Butterscotch with us?” She held up her favorite stuffed unicorn.
“Alright. Just don’t lose her.”
“I won’t!” Kara put her glasses on and took Lena’s hand so they could finally go to the surprise.

Kara gasped when they finally pulled into the parking lot. “A museum?”
“Yeah. I know you went to museums with your parents and Alex when you first came to Earth, but that was so you could learn about Earth and how to be human. I thought today you could just have some fun and we can look at whatever you want. What do you think?”
“I think…that sounds great! I can’t wait! Thank you, Lena!”
Lena smiled. “You’re welcome, bug. You wanna go in?”
Kara nodded, excitedly.
Kara immediately pulled Lena to the dinosaur exhibit. She knew a little bit about the other exhibits in the museum, but it wasn’t as important for her to know about dinosaurs when she first came to Earth, so she barely knew anything about them! But she really wanted to!
They entered the main hall of the exhibit and Kara gasped. Straight ahead she could see a t-rex!
“Lena!” She exclaimed, quietly, tugging on her friend and caregiver’s hand. “Look!” She gasped again. “I did choose the right outfit! Can we go see it?”
“Absolutely.” Lena couldn’t stop smiling the whole time they were there, especially when she saw Kara hold up her unicorn to see the various things. She was so happy that Kara was having a good time. She was a little worried she wouldn’t, even though Alex insisted that she’d love this. It looked like Alex was right, of course.
“Woah!” Kara exclaimed. “Look! It says sometimes tyrannosaurus rex’s left holes in other dinosaurs’ bones ! Did you know that?”
“I didn’t. That’s pretty cool, huh?”
“Yeah! Do you think they were stronger than me? ”
“I don’t know. I doubt it.”
“Maybe Barry could take us back in time to find out…”
Lena’s eyes widened slightly at the thought. She’s sure Kara wouldn’t actually try to fight a t-rex if she was in her adult headspace. Hopefully.... “Barry’s not supposed to travel through time anymore; we wouldn’t want to get him in trouble, would we?”
“I guess not…. Oh well.”
Lena breathed a sigh of relief. It didn’t sound like she would try to get Barry to go back in time with her, thankfully.
“Look how much bigger and pointier the t-rex’s teeth are than the triceratops’!”
“Well, triceratopses were herbivores, so their teeth were flatter to be able to grind up plants with them. T-rexes were carnivores, so their teeth were sharper to be able to pierce flesh.”
“Cool,” Kara whispered.

Later that night, Lena sat next to Kara on her bed as they looked through one of the new books Kara got from the gift shop and cuddled her new stuffed tyrannosaurus rex. Butterscotch was on Lena’s lap for now.
“Thank you, Lena,” Kara said. “For taking me to the museum. I had a great time with you today.”
“I’m glad you liked it. I had a great time with you too, bug.” She kissed Kara’s forehead, making the girl smile.
“Can we play the new game we got at game night tomorrow?” At the gift shop they’d found a version of Monopoly called Dino-opoly . Kara thought it would be perfect for game night, so obviously they had to buy it!
“Of course! But for now, you need to go to sleep, okay?”
“Okay.” Kara smiled. “Night, Lena.”
“Sleep good, bug.”
