“What?” Vi mumbled around a mouthful of chocolate.
Caitlyn stared at her, incredulous. “Are you serious right now?”
“I can’t help that I have a hyperaccelerated metabolism! Do you know how many calories I burn just standing here?”
“We are on a stealth mission.”
“Yeah, and I’m fueling up. You want me fainting in the middle of an infiltration? No? Then let me have my snack, Bats.”

“I want my puppy to be waiting for me by the door. You have ten minutes before I arrive.”
The second Vi received that message from Caitlyn, she scrambled from bed, the tangled blanket on her legs almost making her fall. She needed to get ready. She frantically looked for her collar around the closet. Should she shave? Shit, she only had ten minutes!
Caitlyn arrives sometime later, her keys jiggling outside. She glances around and smiles when her eyes fall on Vi. Naked and collared, she looked a dream, kneeling obediently by the door as she requested. She walks over, taking her head in both hands before gently kissing her forehead. "Look at my girl, all ready for me."

Summary

Summary
The idea of letting… anyone from this side of town even peer under the hood of her beautiful baby is almost enough to make Caitlyn stroke out on the spot. She can’t imagine what they’d do to it. Some horrible whackjob, probably, where they forget to put the oil cap back on and charge her extra for breathing in their space. Or worse, try to gouge her into paying for things she didn’t need. The glimmer of hope in that dreary statement, though, is the fact that once it even moves again, she can hightail it out of here and take it straightaway to someone to look at it and put everything in place the way that she likes.

“Uh, yeah? I saved you from getting shanked in the shower, so fair’s fair. What’s your deal, topside?”
“Caitlyn,” she says. That isn’t right. That wasn’t the answer Vi was after. Names are easily given away but so seldomly remembered in Stillwater, but it echoes in Vi’s head. She almost doesn’t hear the actual answer. “And though I have no doubt a thousand people have given this answer before, I did nothing. I was doing my job, and then I was here. No trial. No sentencing. No crime to speak of.”
