Work Text:
“Damn it, Icyhot.”
The dumbass has fallen asleep in the middle of the movie, again. Katsuki doesn’t know how he does it, especially when it’s so clear he liked the movie. They’d been watching The Princess Bride because Shouto had said he’d never seen it and that was just not going to stand. Like every time they stay up to watch a movie though, Shouto is out before the plot has even truly kicked off.
Katsuki isn’t too upset about it though. It’s verging on eleven and not only is he tired but he also doesn’t want to throw his schedule off too much before going back to work. So, he carefully works against the dumbass leaning into his side and grabs the remote to turn the movie off. The living room is drowned in darkness as he maneuvers Shouto into a bridal hold in his arms and begins to make his way down to their bedroom.
Shouto doesn’t stir once, not even when Katsuki rams his foot into the dresser by accident and lets out a quiet stream of curses. It’s not something most would find notable but after living with the guy for years Katsuki knew that not so long ago the slightest noise would have Shouto awake and alert. He’ll never admit it but he’s really glad the half ‘n’ half has started seeing him as safe enough to sleep soundly around.
Crawling into the bed alongside Shouto, Katsuki wraps a gentle arm around his boyfriend’s waist and tugs him closer. He’s been told more than a few times that he smells like caramel and while he isn’t sure how true that is Katsuki does know that Shouto smells a lot like peppermint (though he also knows Shouto gets peppermint-smelling shampoo). He used to find the smell overwhelming but now it’s just calming, like having hot chocolate with a peppermint stick stuck into it.
Then there’s a sudden weight crawling up in front of Shouto, a small pale-colored thing laying down beside them. Their kitten was incredibly clingy so it’s not like Katsuki was surprised to see him. Though he swears one day the little scrap of fur is going to like him better than Shouto. After all, he’s not the dumbass who named him Soba in response to being told cats are sometimes named after food.
Reaching over Shouto to gently pet Soba, Katsuki finds his eyes beginning to grow heavy. Tomorrow is their off-day and he has no idea what the two of them will do with it but he does know that he plans to make the most of it.
