Chapter Text
To him, she was everything. She was the only one who made him happy and cared about him. She was always there for him when he needed someone on whom he could cry and rely. He had the most faith in her.
But those are just reminiscences from the past. A past in which his life was at its best and worst. Wonderful memories erupted from his mind, but they weren't the only ones. He remembered that he probably had more bad memories than good memories. His mind was suddenly filled with painful memories.
It was a memory he would never forget. A memory that served as a constant reminder that the world is full of crap. He couldn't even remember the other painful things he'd gone through, but that one memory stayed with him. A memory that haunted him whenever he reflected on his time with her, time with his mother.
She had vanished. That day when his mother was evicted by his bastard of a father. Everything that happened that day was fresh in his mind. Even if he tried to erase that memory from his memory. He couldn't do it. And he knew what made his hatred grow stronger and stronger.
His father—No, Endeavor. He despised Endeavor more than anything else.
His other emotions became weaker with each passing day as his hatred grew stronger. He suppressed every other emotion he felt, but only his anger remained unaffected. His hatred is akin to a raging storm intent on wreaking havoc on cities, or more specifically, Endeavor. But before his nightmare-fueled memories erupted, he felt a sudden pang of pain on his face.
"Shouto! Wake up already!" yelled a feminine voice as his eyes slowly opened before attempting to close them again. A huff could be heard before a pillow was slammed into his face.
"You've got to be kidding me. Wake up, Shouto! Dad's going to be mad again!" she yelled as Shouto slowly awoke from his sleep. He then sat up, caressing his face and groaning slightly before pondering his thoughts.
Dad, huh? What a load of—Before he could think any further, another pillow was thrown at his face, but it didn't hurt nearly as much as the first one.
"Hurry up, Shouto! Breakfast is ready! And you'd better eat up before the Entrance Exam at U.A." She sighed and exited his room. When the information was thrown in his face, his eyes widened.
"Today is the U.A. Recommendation exam," he sighed, bracing himself for the hell that was about to ensue.
The journey from his house to U.A. was tense, and that was an understatement. His other sister and brother were both sweating profusely as they looked at the two. His so-called father Endeavor-The Flaming Hero, also known as the number two, was driving him to school. Endeavor's scowl was intense, but Shouto refused to budge; unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his other siblings.
"Shouto, remember that this exam will determine your future, and if you want that future to be successful, you need to stop that stupid behavior of yours! And you need to start using your fire to beat All Might!" Endeavour emphasized the name All Might with more venom than his other words, making Shouto grumble, while his sister and brother tried to turn their gaze away from the two.
Endeavor was irritated even more because Shouto didn't respond and remained silent. His sister sighed before patting his younger brother on the shoulder, while his brother simply tried to avoid any further conflict between the father and son.
Before speaking to Shouto, his sister sighed. "Don't worry about dad, he was just in a bad mood earlier," Shouto's sister tried, but he just huffed.
"He's always in a bad mood, Fuyumi nee-san," he said casually, and Fuyumi palmed her face. His brother choked on his drink while trying to hold back a laugh.
"Heh, I didn't know you could sass Shouto!" his brother snickered as Fuyumi elbowed him on the side.
"Jeez, you don't have to hit me that hard every time!" His brother faked a pout while still wincing slightly from the pain. "Oh, how about this, Natsuo?" Fuyumi didn't move and simply pinched her brother's nose.
"Ow! ow! ow!" Natsuo cried out in agony, but her sister ignored her. While trying to tease each other, the two siblings shared a heartfelt laugh. Shouto's lips curled up slightly without them noticing, but when they were about to arrive at U.A. He quickly returned to his neutral expression.
Knowing his father was about to have another temper tantrum, he quickly gathered his belongings and braced himself for another outburst from his father. He had already covered his ears with earphones to protect his ears before both of his siblings noticed.
Fuyumi was the first to notice when his father opened his mouth while Natsuo continued to laugh his ass off. "Shouto! Get your things ready! We're arriving at U.A. while you two get ready before I drop you off!" he yelled at the end of his sentence, his voice laced with rage.
Fuyumi simply sighed again before gathering her belongings, while Natsuo furrowed his brows before huffing and preparing himself as well.
Shouto remained silent for the remainder of the ride. The tense atmosphere remained after his father's outburst, but it is gradually fading.
Shouto was also aware from the start that his siblings' relationship with his father was tainted at best. His father referred to them as failures, but none was as bad as what happened to one of his brothers. Touya, his father's first masterpiece, as he refers to him back then.
Even though Touya was his father's masterpiece at the time, it didn't take long for his father to stop training him due to the side effects of his quirk. And after Shouto was born, Touya became desperate and attempted to entice his father's attention, but it did not work. Dad continued to ignore him.
They eventually arrived at a parking lot outside U.A. grounds. Shouto's attention was drawn away from his thoughts by his father's call. Shouto shook his head slightly, attempting to forget what had happened to his other brother. He isn't in the mood to reminisce about the past. He had a task to complete.
U.A. was much larger than Shouto had anticipated. You'd have to look up to see that the main school building was made up of four buildings, each with four hallways connecting to it.
U.A. is the top Hero Academy in Japan and the number one ranked high school for heroics. U.A. is well-known for training and producing some of Japan's best heroes, including All Might, Endeavor, and Best Jeanist.
They were wandering around for a while when a man with black hair and a black outfit came in front of them, wearing a way too large scarf around his neck and looking as if he hadn't slept in god knows how long. He has the appearance of a hobo. Endeavor had just huffed when the unknown man spoke.
"Follow me," he said, motioning them to do so. Shouto was perplexed. Who was this man his father and he were following?
The man comes to a brief halt as he pulls out his phone. Even with his father's training, he couldn't understand what the unknown man was saying. Though he can definitely hear someone on the other end of the phone who is far too loud.
The hobo man sighed and motioned for them to follow him. Shouto raised his eyes to Endeavor, who was becoming increasingly agitated. Shouto, on the other hand, was unconcerned; all he wanted was to finish this and pass the exam.
Despite the fact that no one was talking to each other, Shouto was trapped in a deafening silence. Who knew silence could be so deafening. He preferred it quiet, but not like this. He's standing next to a giant flaming man, with a hobo in front of them, guiding them through U.A.'s system. It's completely normal.
Endeavor apparently grabbed the man's shoulder. "Where are we going?" he demanded angrily, which didn’t surprise Shouto. Endeavor knows how to be patient, but when things move too slowly, he becomes easily agitated.
The man then came to a halt and turned to face both of them. Despite his father's scowl, the other man appears unusually calm. He then sighed as he took a step back and opened both doors.
"You may enter now; the written exam is about to begin," the man said as he motioned Shouto to do so. Shouto then entered the room, where he saw a lot of people. When he saw how many students were inside, he wasn't surprised. Despite the fact that it is a recommendation exam, many students are recommended by heroes.
Endeavor was about to follow him when he was stopped by the man. "What do you think you're doing?!" Endeavor yelled angrily at the still-calm man.
"As for those who recommended the student, you may go to the lounge area while they finish," the man said in a monotone voice, raising Endeavor's brow, but he complied and went to the lounge area with the hobo man.
Even though Endeavor was quite an annoyance when his temper flared up. When he's on missions that require his assistance, he's still a rational man. Which Shouta Aizawa greatly admires despite the fact that the man is a hot garbage when he starts talking and boasting about himself.
"So, Eraserhead, I had no idea you worked at this school," the flaming man said as steam erupted from his nose. Shouta was well aware that the man would question him. As a result, he prepared to answer some of the man's questions.
"Nedzu hired me to be a teacher here, and it pays well," he responded calmly. When he heard the flaming man snort, he turned to face the man who was smirking.
"I thought you didn't like children, Eraserhead," Endeavor snorted, as Eraserhead sighed, knowing this question would be asked soon. That isn't really a question.
"I don't like children, but if it means teaching and guiding them to be mature rational heroes, then I'm all for it," Shouta said, mentally preparing himself for what was about to happen. They were about to enter the lounge, where chaos would most likely ensue once Endeavor entered.
Endeavor cackled, his laughter echoing through the quiet corridors of U.A. High. "I had no idea you had this kind of side, and I'm honestly surprised those brats can survive you," the man grins, while Shouta shudders, but he has a valid point.
"I just expelled an entire class last year," Shouta grumbled. Fortunately, Endeavor did not hear anything. They were approaching the lounge. Knowing what was about to happen, the man sagged and hid half of his face behind his scarf.
Endeavor raised an eyebrow as he slowly opened the doors. "Hurry up, damn it," grunted the flaming man as he pushed the doors open wide. Eraserhead has already fled the scene, unable to deal with the ensuing chaos.
Endeavor stood there, alone, while everyone else remained silent. His eyes moved slowly as he observed everything around him, but then he stopped looking around and looked at a familiar blonde muscle man.
The man in question then smiled at him. "Hello Endeavor, it appears that you're right on time!" the blonde man laughed, while the other heroes just sighed and moved away a little.
The atmosphere became tense as Endeavor's flames grew larger and larger. His eyes widen and his teeth clench. He was enraged, to put it mildly. He was enraged. He locked his gaze on the blonde's eyes. If a glare could kill, the blonde would have died long ago. Endeavor had had enough and approached the man who was calling out his name.
"ALL MIGHT!"
Shouto sat back and watched as the other participants became aware of his presence. There were a few gasps here and there, but most people are just going about their business. After a few seconds of silence, the students resumed their activities, while Shouto made his way to an empty seat.
He sat in the far corner of the room. He took a deep breath and slowly relaxed his muscles. He then took a slow look around to see who he was up against.
He noticed a few standouts, such as the guy with no lips while showing his teeth, and another who appears to be made of rock. He also recognizes some people, such as Yaoyorozu Momo, a member of the Yaoyorozu family. They, too, have contributed to U.A.'s funding.
He had known Momo since he was a child. His and her families are acquainted, and they frequently see each other at events and such.
Another was Tenya Iida, a member of the Iida family, which has a long line of heroes dating back to his grandparents. They, too, meet on occasion, but they rarely talk because Shouto, despite his desire to make friends, prefers to avoid attention.
After meeting a few more interesting people, such as one big guy with a semi-bald cut who was far too enthusiastic for his own good. He leaned back in his chair, resting his arms on the desk.
He sighed as he slumped down on the desk, but not before noticing Tenya Iida's familiar blue hair and one Yaoyorozu's Onyx hair, but they aren't alone. While Tenya was approaching him at a much faster pace, Momo was talking to someone else, though she is still approaching him, albeit at a slightly slower pace than Tenya.
He then noticed a chubby-cheeked black-haired girl with green accents on her fluffy-looking hair. Her round face is freckled on both sides. Her large eyes are somewhat circular, and her irises are the same color as the accents on her green hair. In comparison to Momo, she appeared to be quite short.
Despite being on the shorter side, she has quite the figure. Tenya approached him before he could think any further.
"Hello Todoroki-kun! It's nice to see you again! It appears we'll be fighting in the same arena, but fear not, we'll pass this exam no matter what!" Tenya exclaimed as he waved his arms in a robotic-like motion that made a few people snicker.
"Hello, Iida. It's nice to see you again, and good luck on the exam," Todoroki replied, his voice quieter than Tenya's.
"Good luck to you as well, Todoroki-kun!" Tenya then bowed at a ninety-degree angle, making more students laugh at his enthusiasm while a certain bald boy yelled something about passion.
Tenya then returned to his seat, attempting to reprimand students who were sitting on tables, but they were clearly not paying attention. Momo then approached him as Tenya walked away. "Hello, Todoroki-kun! It appears that we'll be in the same area," she said, smiling.
"Hello Yaoyorozu, good luck on the exam," he replied quickly, skipping other statements. She quickly realized what he was up to and responded with a nod. "Good luck to you as well, Todoroki-kun!" she exclaimed.
She was about to walk away when she jerked her head back to approach Shouto again. "Oh sorry for bothering you again, Todoroki-kun! I just want you to meet someone," she apologized to the other girl, rubbing her neck in embarrassment.
The other girl simply waved her hand, implying that Momo is not required to apologize and that she should be the one to do so. Momo objected, and they turned around and looked at Todoroki again after a few seconds.
Todoroki was perplexed when they both nodded to each other. Momo laughed briefly before dragging the other girl towards Todoroki. "I'm sorry, Todoroki-kun, but I'd like you to meet a friend of mine," she said sincerely as the other girl approached. She sighed and rubbed her neck shyly.
"Nice to meet you!" she said with a smile that would probably blind a normal person.
"I'm Midoriya Izumi!"
To be continued...
