Work Text:

It was such a lovely spring morning, Jaskier and Geralt decided to go down to the coast and have a look at the crashing waves of the sea. Jaskier knew that his friend hated the feel of walking through sand and it got everywhere, so he took them to a little rocky beach he knew about. It was quieter too, which was always a bonus. Not that walking on a stony shoreline was any easier to walk over, and there was always the danger of spraining an ankle, but it was worth it. The soft crunch of the pebbles under the feet, and he knew Geralt loved to look at the rounded stones and find interesting ones to show Jaskier. If they were lucky, they might even find some sea-glass or a nice looking shell.

They started off on the north end of the beach, and slowly made their way down, picking their way over the rocks that were much bigger this end, careful not to slip and fall. The view from here was stunning. The sun was hot, the blue sky was free from clouds, and the water was foaming and frothing over the beach, making soothing noises as it filtered through the stones. They called out to one another when they found something they thought the other would like. Geralt found a small white stone with tiny purple bands, one with crystals in and even a small pebble in the shape of a heart. Jaskier found a black stone with white spots, a beautiful clam shell and what he thought might be some sort of fossil. Normally they’d leave what they found on the shore, but they agreed to take the fossil home as Geralt was really excited by it and he wanted to do some research to try and find out what it was.

After a short while, they were tired of walking over the stones, and made their way upto the path above the high water line, which was much easier on their feet. They stopped by a little ice cream shop to get some refreshments, being careful not to tempt the pesky gulls who would carry off any food they could get their beaks on. They found a bench to sit down on and watch the waves crash onto the shore, taking in the beauty of the place. Jaskier always found the sea so calming and peaceful. He felt Geralt’s arm snake around his shoulders and he turned slightly to snuggle into the embrace of his friend, watching the sea.
