Chapter Text

Shoto is happy.

It wasn’t rare for Shoto to be happy, he was happy when Izuku would barge into his room and talk to him about conspiracy theories back in UA, Shoto was happy when Bakugou would join him and Sero in their manga reading sessions. He is happy when he is with Hanta Sero. His love, his life, the light in his dark and gloomy world.

The moment he laid eyes on the man, Shoto's life blew up with colors. Whenever Sero smiled at Shoto his heart would skip a beat, every time the man laughed Shoto would just stare and want to hear the sound for the rest of his life. Shoto at first thought there was something medically wrong with him but after taking his concerns to Uraraka and his friends they told him he had a ‘crush’ on Sero. Shoto didn’t understand until he found Sero having a meltdown in front of the dorms when he was returning from a late-night training session. Sero had been having self-esteem issues, thinking he wasn’t as capable or good enough as Bakugou, Izuku, or even Shoto. Shoto hated it, he vowed to never let Sero feel that way, he hated seeing him cry and feel so stressed. After months and months of pining Shoto had gotten the courage to ask Sero on a date. He stuttered for the first time in his life but he had done it and Sero said yes, Shoto feared if the black-haired man said no he would cry right then and there. Though he did that anyway when he did say yes. At that moment Shoto was overjoyed, for the first time in his life Shoto had a big smile on his face.

“Mi Amor?” Shoto was brought out of his thoughts when Sero reached to cup one of Shoto’s cheeks to look up at him. “You okay?” he asked, Shoto gave him a soft smile and nodded.

“Just thinking,” Shoto said, interlocking his lover's hand with his own. “I was thinking of when I first saw you,” Shoto said, blushing at the blunt answer.

“Oh, The Stoic Shoto phase, I remember you were so distant from everyone, brushing past everything anyone said- well until Mido got you to use your fireside,” Sero said, Shoto laughed lightly. He remembered that moment, it was special to him but not as special as the moment Sero asked if he would move in with him a week before they graduated UA. Now six years into their relationship, they’ve moved into their shared apartment right after graduation. They have cried, laughed, and yelled together and at each other. They have had their ups and downs, their doubts and insecurities but they made it through all the tough times. Shoto is happy, no he’s more than happy, he can’t explain this giddy feeling in his chest. He loves his boyfriend so much, he doesn’t think he’d ever felt this happy ever in his life.

“Yes, Until I met you Hanta, you figuratively and literally brought light and color to my life, you are my whole world,” Shoto said, smirking at Sero’s growing blush.

They continued walking in silence. They were walking home after work, enjoying the scenery and each other's company. Shoto leaned slightly on Sero’s shoulder. He loved going on walks with Sero, Shoto closed his eyes letting Hanta lead them to their apartment. He opened his eyes a couple of minutes later, to see different scenery than the one towards their apartment.

“Hanta? Where are we going?” Shoto asked, Sero squeezed his hand lightly.

“Somewhere special,” Sero said, Shoto shook his head, chuckling lightly.

They walked for a bit until Shoto could see a beautiful blossom tree. He's walked past it before and seen it on patrols with Bakugou and Izuku. Its beautiful blossom petals falling and the green grass making it seem like it should be the background of a movie. Sero stopped and Shoto looked over at the man, still curious why they had made a detour.

“Sho. You, love, are my world, Mi Amor, Mi Rey. You are who I think of first thing in the morning when I wake up and the last thing I think of at night when I go to sleep. You are it for me,” Shoto had to force himself not to cry from all the sweet comments. Sero usually said such sweet and wholesome things but Shoto would get overwhelmed sometimes and this is one of those times.

“Hanta? I-“

“Let me finish, Sunshine,” Sero said, he took a deep breath and let Shoto’s hands go, and got on one knee. Shoto felt all the air rush out of him. The world froze. “Baby. Will you, Shoto-

“YES,” Shoto exclaimed immediately. Sero laughed lightly, he took out a red velvet box. Shoto blushed out of embarrassment, his heart was racing from excitement, love, happiness, and everything that comes with it.

“Baby, I haven’t even said anything,” Sero said, grabbing Shoto’s hand and giving it a light squeeze.

“Sorry. C-continue,” Shoto said, chuckling along with Sero.

“Shoto Todoroki, will you make me the happiest, overjoyed man on this earth and marry me?” Sero asked, opening the box. It held the most gorgeous ring Shoto had seen. It was simple, a silver band with a stone half red and half white. It was beautiful and Shoto took in a deep breath, making sure he was breathing alright and he covered his mouth in shock. He got excited but now that Sero was there on his knee asking that question, Shoto couldn’t believe it. The man he loved was proposing to him, he was overwhelmed with emotion and couldn’t even form a single thought.

“I- Sero, are you sure? Are you 100% sure you want to marry me? it’s a big commitment, you can’t back out, not now or ever,” Shoto said, his anxiety and fear getting to him. Sero stood up, slid the ring on Shoto’s finger, and cupped his face in between his hands.

“Shoto, I love you, I love you and your insecurities, your social anxiety, your ability to never see social cues, everything. You are it for me, everything and anything, you are my one true love,” Sero said, Shoto let out a chuckle, tears starting to fall. Sero wiped them away gently. “So, Will you marry me?”

“Yes, Yes, I would marry you a hundred times over if I could,” Shoto said, the two chuckled and shared a soft kiss. Shoto chuckled and wrapped his hands around Sero’s neck, Then kissed Sero’s cheeks multiple times. “I love you Hanta Sero,” Shoto said softly, Sero laughed lightly at his boyfriend, now fiancee’s outburst.

Shoto Todoroki is Happy, Happy with his life, with his boyfriend, now fiancee. He was happy, his trauma and past still haunted him but with Sero and all his loving friends by his side, he thinks he can get through it. Because they surely make life a hell of a lot easier to live through.
