“Uhh! CHERRY?” exclaimed Jaeyoung, fully surprised, no, actually astonished by Sangwoo’s taste.
“Mmm” nodded Sangwoo innocently, feeling a bit bewildered by Jaeyoung’s sudden response.
“Why? Can’t I like cherries?” replied Sangwoo, still feeling a bit confused by Jaeyoung’s sudden interest in his favourite fruit.
“No, it’s not that but I guess cherries were the last thing-, no, they weren’t even in my list since they are red and you hate re-” explained Jaeyoung, still looking amazed.
“I don’t hate red!” disclosed Sangwoo a bit too quickly before Jaeyoung could even finish talking.
He even considered saying ‘anymore’ but quickly decided against it because he didn’t want Jaeyoung to tease him about it, though he did yearn for his boyfriend’s teasing smirk once in a while.
Just the thought of Jaeyoung’s smirking face brought him over the edge and made him flush red.
On the other side, Jaeyoung stared intensely at his boyfriend, trying to read his mind in order to explain the sudden outburst but after noticing the slight blush creeping up his cheeks, he let him go.
“Okay~” smiled Jaeyoung, his award winning smile that always worked on his boyfriend.
Choosing not to tease the birthday boy too much, Jaeyoung moved to concentrate on his computer screen again where he was getting drowned by the amount of cherry cake recipes google had on offer.
The next day
“Then add the zest and vanilla and beat for one minute. Then slowly add the vegetable oil and continue beating” continued the chef while explaining the recipe.
“Ahh~~” sighed Jaeyoung for the third time in 15 mins.
Yes, he did want to bake his boyfriend his favourite fruit cake but it never occurred to him that it would take more than enthusiasm to bake a cake.
Sighing again for the umpteenth time, Jaeyoung took a peek at the time and decided to text his boyfriend.
“Are you still in the library?” texted Jaeyoung before focusing again on the recipe, not expecting a quick reply from Sangwoo.
Just as he thought, Sangwoo replied 10 min later with a ‘Yes, I will be here for a while”.
“Ehhh~” exhaled Jaeyoung again, a sigh of relief. Well, at least he has plenty of time to complete his cake.
50 minutes later
The cake was finally in the oven and Jaeyoung went back to texting his boyfriend.
“Still at the library” typed Jaeyoung quickly after making sure that the kitchen was tidy and clean again and double checking that all the spilled flour on the floor was mopped away.
“Yes, almost finished,” answered Sangwoo.
“Alright, come home soon my baby” responded Jaeyoung swiftly with a teasing smirk. He could bet his life to prove that Sangwoo would probably be crimson red right now.
This is what Jaeyoung supposes as the perks of dating Chu Sangwoo as he can merely take a quick glance at his baby and he knows what’s on his mind.
Beep, beep, beep beep - sounded the alarm, irritating Jaeyoung who was in his sweet imagination before he remembered his precious cake.
“Wahhh~~” exclaimed Jaeyoung excitedly as he took his cake out and slided a toothpick slowly in the middle to confirm that it was entirely done.
Jaeyoung felt really proud of himself as he put the cake down and turned off the oven, feeling extremely pleased with the end result of his precious cake.
“Now, I just need to wait,” announced Jaeyoung impatiently as he sat down in the living room and closed his eyes for a brief moment.
Honestly, he was exhausted from having to clean the whole house, preparing the whole decorations and then baking the cake. However, he was more tired from the stress of whether Sangwoo would even like his decorations and especially his precious cake.
He was so worn out that he didn’t even realise when he fell asleep nor when his baby came home or even when he took a shower, until he heard his baby.
“Hyung~ wake up~” whispered Sangwoo with a hushed tone, trying his best not to scare his hyung.
He guessed it was working when his hyung stirred from his sleep and opened his eyes slowly.
“My baby, you finally came~” smiled Jaeyoung sweetly before bolting upright.
“Ah! WHEN DID YOU ARRIVE?” cried out Jaeyoung, now fully aware of the situation.
“A while ago” replied Sangwoo with a neutral expression.
Seeing his baby with his hair wet and a towel around his neck surely was an amazing sight but for now he was just taken aback with the shock.
“Did you see everything?” asked a hopeless Jaeyoung who was looking forward to this moment for a whole week now.
“Umm” nodded Sangwoo with composure but quickly catching up with the situation.
“I liked it~” Sangwoo admitted honestly while grabbing a seat beside Jaeyoung.
“Did you see the cake?” Jaeyoung dreaded hearing his answer and Sangwoo was totally aware. “No” he lied.
Honestly, Jaeyoung could clearly see through his lie but he liked that Sangwoo was making an effort to not ruin the moment for him which he appreciated.
“Ok, wait here~” announced Jaeyoung before racing excitedly towards the kitchen and bringing the cake for his baby with a butter knife.
“Ah hyung! Just being a normal knife!” complained Sangwoo, now seriously getting mad with Jaeyoung’s consciousness around him.
“You brat! I don’t want to risk hurting you! Now, go ahead and cut your cake” explained Jaeyoung for the umpteenth time before passing the butter knife over to the birthday boy.
“Happy birthday, my baby” sang Jaeyoung with his sweet honey voice, beaming excitedly while Sangwoo sliced through the cake and grabbed a small piece to feed his hyung.
“Hmmm~” Jaeyoung shook his head and returned the bite to Sangwoo’s mouth.
“How is it?”
“The cherry cake was a little dry and dense combined with the sweet and sour fresh cherries, it did taste a bit weird but it wasn’t bad” thought Sangwoo as he took another bite of the cake.
“It’s delicious,” replied Sangwoo, honestly appreciating Jaeyoung's hard work.
“Ah~ thank god~” Jaeyoung exhaled with relief while slouching back on the couch. He relaxed his expression and closed his eyes again.
“Hyung, say ah~” Sangwoo called gently.
Jaeyoung assumed that he wanted to feed him some cake so he opened his mouth slightly, awaiting Sangwoo to feed him when he felt something touch his lips.
Upon feeling something on his lips, Jaeyoung opened his eyes in surprise and was baffled by the situation.
Feeling Sangwoo on his lips was incredible but it ended too quickly for his liking.
Jang Jaeyoung could no longer think normally as he reminisced the feeling of Sangwoo’s lips on his.
Before Sangwoo could back away further, Jaeyoung placed his right hand on Sangwoo’s waist and pulled him in completely, holding him lightly and kissing him gently. Their lips gently brushing against each other.
Jaeyoung opened his eyes mid-kiss because he loves looking at Sangwoo and wants to see his every expression.
After a while of gentle kissing, they parted to catch their breaths. Sangwoo gradually opened his eyes and saw Jaeyoung already staring at him which made him turn crimson red.
He knew about the fact that Jaeyoung likes watching him while kissing him which is the reason why he closes his eyes but it gets hard sometimes and now is one of those moments when Jaeyoung is staring at him with those irresistible, loving eyes, making so many promises.
“God, this hormones” Sangwoo thought before pulling Jaeyoung by his collar for another kiss which started as gentle but grew bigger and more intense as they kissed.
Their tongues dancing together in a slow dynamic manner and their hearts pounding as one.
The sudden taste of sour cherries wakes Jaeyoung up from the spell Sangwoo always casts on him but he just couldn’t bring himself to break away.
The gentle caress of Sangwoo’s lips seemed much softer this time but they were treading on dangerous waters now so he decided to end it before it grew into something else.
Instead, he slipped his arms around Sangwoo’s waist and nuzzled his neck with his nose before kissing him repeatedly up to his ear, where he whispered, “I love you, my cherry boy”.
