Work Text:
“And can’t forget the cherries!” Jaeyoung mentioned happily while placing a small container full of cherries into their picnic basket.
Yes, they are going on a picnic.
To Sangwoo, it felt quite odd to be asked on a picnic date since he doesn’t really understand why people go on one.
To him, it just seemed like they were going out to a normal park to eat the food that they packed from home. It just seemed meaningless.
But knowing Sangwoo, Jaeyoung made sure to prepare a lot for their little picnic, to make it a bit special for his baby and himself.
First of all, he made sure to find a quiet place with a good view of the city where they can be alone and enjoy the view. Second, he made sure to prepare a tent with lots of pillows so that his baby can be comfortable. Thirdly, he made sure that there’s plenty to eat and prepared Sangwoo’s favourite snacks. Finally, he made sure he looks his best because his baby enjoys staring at him.
“Sangwoo-yah, are you ready?” Jaeyoung called out cheerfully, honestly he couldn’t contain his joy.
“Yes hyung, just coming out now” replied Sangwoo exiting their room wearing a normal white shirt and light beige denim jeans before he caught a sight of his hyung.
Jaeyoung was wearing a normal plunge v neck orange sweater with blue jeans, nothing too fancy but what caught Sangwoo’s breath was that Jaeyoung was showing too much skin.
Because of the plunge V neck sweater, he was now able to see all of Jaeyoung’s thick neck, his collarbones and part of his muscular chest which was a sight he was embarrassed to look at.
“I’m out” announced Sangwoo quietly looking at their food baskets as Jaeyoung looked up from his phone.
“Are you doing this on purpose?” questioned Jaeyoung eyeing Sangwoo head to toe before moving closer to him and locking him in an affectionate embrace.
“You trynna seduce me” whispered Jaeyoung softly.
“Look who’s talking?” murmured Sangwoo, melting into his boyfriend’s touch before they separated.
“Got everything?” Jaeyoung asked while gently holding Sangwoo’s pretty hands.
“Umm” nodded Sangwoo discreetly.
“Let’s go then” declared Jaeyoung before moving to hold the food baskets while Sangwoo made sure that everything was turned off and that it was safe to leave.
“Hyung? Now can you tell me where we’re going?” questioned Sangwoo before helping Jaeyoung with the food baskets.
“Just follow me” answered Jaeyoung before locking their apartment door and heading towards the elevator.
When they got inside, Sangwoo was about to press for the ground floor when Jaeyoung reached out and pressed the top floor instead.
“Hyung?”. Sangwoo was confused as to why they are going upwards instead of going down.
“Baby, just trust me!” spoke Jaeyoung confidently.
And Sangwoo did. Honestly, he would trust his hyung no matter the situation and that scares him a bit but now’s not the time to worry about that. Now that he’s in front of the rooftop door, he’s feeling scared, nervous and excited! He doesn't know what to feel anymore or has any control over them.
“It’s ok” Jaeyoung comforted Sangwoo while patting Sangwoo on his nape.
He knew well enough to know that Sangwoo hated surprises but he made sure to make it a good surprise.
“Whenever you’re ready” smiled Jaeyoung softly while continuing to pat Sangwoo’s head.
Sangwoo took a deep breath and held Jaeyoung’s hand before nodding his head.
As they entered the rooftop, the sight of the little red tent filled Sangwoo with awe. His favourite colour, he thought. As they walked further nearing the tent, he took note of the cute decoration with the cute, soft coloured pillows, making it appear cosy and homely.
“Come, sit here” Jaeyoung pointed as he put their food baskets down, enjoying the sheer look of amazement on Sangwoo’s face.
“Hyung? Did you prepare all this?” questioned Sangwoo innocently.
To which Jaeyoung just smiled and nodded.
Jaeyoung’s simple answer was enough to turn Sangwoo’s ears red but he didn’t expect the next part.
“Hmm, just for my baby”.
Now that statement definitely pulled on Sangwoo’s heartstrings as he tried to hide his embarrassment by scratching the back of his head.
Jaeyoung smiled shamelessly as he began to take their food out of the basket. He had prepared Sangwoo’s favourite snacks and fruits but also managed to sneak in a pack of beer.
Sangwoo started to pick up some fruit as he got hungry from seeing Jaeyoung prepare the whole picnic which he started to feel guilty for, since he didn’t help with anything.
Jaeyoung noticed this quickly and tried asking him to see what’s wrong but Sangwoo dismissed it as nothing.
Sangwoo’s dismissal disheartened Jaeyoung as he looked forward to this day for a week now, wanting to make it perfect for Sangwoo but he guessed Sangwoo didn’t like his idea.
Upon seeing his hyung’s gloomy figure, Sangwoo found it crushing his heart.
“Hyung? Are you ok?” asked Sangwoo carefully, wanting to bring the joy to his hyung’s face, wanting him to smile like always.
“Sangwoo-yah~ be honest with me, ok?” voiced Jaeyoung dejected.
“Did you not like my idea of the picnic?” pouted Jaeyoung sulking already.
“Wait what? I never said anything like that, hyung?” Sangwoo was confused as to why his hyung would ever think that.
“I like this- no, I love this! Being with hyung makes me happy so I don’t know what you’re talking about!” confessed Sangwoo cutely.
Hearing his baby’s confession made Jaeyoung smile his handsome smile and Sangwoo loved that.
“Here, eat this!” Jaeyoung said before holding out a grape for Sangwoo.
Sangwoo took a minute, eyes searching Jaeyoung’s for the correct response before he leaned forward, taking the grape between his lips and already sitting back.
Sangwoo was honestly enjoying the sweet flavour of the grape before he noticed Jaeyoung still holding his hand in the air, looking incredibly flabbergasted.
“What’s wrong, hyung?” asked Sangwoo gullibly.
“Are you doing this on purpose?” Jaeyoung asked, incredibly taken aback by Sangwoo’s teasing before he pushed Sangwoo backwards and managed to get on top of him, trapping him entirely with both of his arms against Sangwoo’s head.
The fairy lights around the tent suddenly lit up, creating a warm glow in the tent. Sangwoo guessed that the sun had set while they were failing to communicate properly.
“I just thought that I hadn’t rewarded you for all the work you had done for our picnic date while I hadn’t done anything at all” muttered Sangwoo sheepishly, feeling guilt building up again.
At that Jaeyoung kept staring at Sangwoo, thinking of something proper to say.
“Give me a proper reward then!” declared Jaeyoung loudly before puckering his lips adorably.
Seeing Jaeyoung being adorable around him always warmed Sangwoo up which is also the reason why he couldn’t say no to Jaeyoung right now.
Therefore, he tried to collect all of his little confidence pieces that fell apart just before and leaned up to meet his hyung’s pouty lips.
And time stopped there for the two beautiful lovers while the fluttering feelings intensified as the two hearts started beating as one.
