Unspoken Truths

Summary:

In the far lands where a silent war happen between human and the demon society, we get to dive slightly deep into the secrets of unspoken truths berween the two individuals who come to accept each other.

"You're really not going to leave me alone, are you, Rui?"

"Hm? I just love watching you do your own thing, Nene. Is it so wrong for me to do?"

"..Kind of, yeah."

Notes:

This is kind of a rough start for my EmuKasa/RuiNene collection, but hopefully we'll get the better of it and my writing style can improve during the process! :D

Fellow Wonderlands×Showtime, EmuKasa or RuiNene lovers, gather in as we go on to different journeys to see these beloved characters develop their love story! I'll be writing different scenarios for both ships, because they brought in comfort for me the most ❤
Though thank you for taking your time to read them <3

Work Text:

The light was dim, following the motion of the tiny breeze inside the house with the now burnt out candles. The smell of lavender wafts around the room, seemingly making the atmosphere a little more silent. Wooden tiles creek with each step the male demon took upon getting closer toward the girl who proclaims herself as the new 'Marry Poppins', yet the two were already aware that that wasn't the true case at all. She's just dressed and looks like one from the fairytales they read together before, to say the very least.

With now their distance only a few inches apart, and like the mischievious demon that he is, the purple-haired demon took his chance. A sly little smirk crept upon his lips, making her to look up at him directly into his own yellow eyes by holding onto her chin. The two made eye contact with each other, yet the girl on the other hand didn't seem to bother and could only keep her unamused expression seeing him perform his questionable action yet again.

"Rui," she called out, sighing in disbelief, "we've been through this. I said stop teasing me while I'm doing my own thing."

"Aw, Nene, you're no fun." The demon replied quickly before changing his facial expression into his more usual, easy-going one. He took his hand away from her chin anyway despite being called out as the earlier tensed atmosphere begin to feel lively once more.

"For as long as I remember, I've never seen you blush before, Nene. It would've been quite interesting to see, don't you think?"

Nene rolled her eyes sideways, ignoring the demon who's still standing right beside her as she writes down her daily activities onto her journal, "you're lucky enough that you have all the time in the world to come up at me randomly and tease me."

"To be fair—" Rui immediately chimmed in, tapping Nene's work table once, "I tried."

That was the last sentence Nene listened to before she finally ignores her roommate completely. Though, to call him as her roommate is not exactly accurate either, but there's also no other good term to describe their current relationship with one another.

A demon and a human, they are not so dissimilar yet they are bound to be separated by the boundaries of fate. It wasn't completely a decision made by the rows of stars high above the sky, but an unspoken agreement upon the relatives around them and thus eventually created an invisible wall that separates the two living beings. Two civilization that despise one another; a seemingly silent never-ending war of pure hatred that was pinned against each other.

However, Rui and Nene themselves also has their own fair share of unspoken truths from the whole world that does not desire to witness the intertwined fate between humans and demons. And especially Rui; he will make sure that things can keep to go that way.

At moments like these; where Nene would sat by the window to finish writing her journal for the day, accompanied by a faint smell of different florals from her scented candles as they continue to flicker and burn.

It was at moments like these; where Rui would accompany her as they both went out to buy their monthly groceries separately—where the gardens and Mother Nature seemingly continue to sing along with the fallen waters from the sky in each drops.

It was all the smallest little things in life, but they are the things that made them both happy; the unspoken truth from the whole world that a human and a demon can get along just fine if either side were to sit down and listen to one another.

..And perhaps it could even gradually plant a new seed of unspoken feelings between the two different individuals.

———

Nene froze in her place, the umbrella that she held is now gripped tightly onto her hand, while the other is being held by none other than her demon roommate, Rui.

The morning dew and a vast blue sky greeted upon their own little world, following the cold yet gentle breeze from the rain that happened last night.

"..Rui?" Nene questioned, but her only response was a tiny chuckle from the demon whom she had known for several years by now. Her soft voice that resembled that of an angel's is something that Rui has always cherished the most after he met her, and not once did he ever felt bored hearing it either.

Nene expected that this was just another one of those moments where he's teasing her, so she didn't really pay it with much attention as soon as she come to realize it.

In fact, maybe she could go along with the flow this time and get back at him.

Nene brushed the feeling off and pulled his hand closer, which clearly took Rui off-guard as they are both now closer than ever, what with the tiny space under the umbrella Nene brought to cover themselves from getting wet.

Rui then heard Nene giggled under her breath, looking down upon the girl before her smile that was given to him out of nowhere as if radiates the whole world around them.

"That's what you get for teasing me this whole time." She called out, the smile on her lips didn't immediately fade away; which only make the purple-haired demon feel those unspoken emotions from deep down once more.

It was the main reason why he started teasing her in the first place.

This is unfair. How come a mere human can make him feel so many new indecisive emotions? Things that demons are not so skilled about to understand, and can only decipher through logic thinking to fully process what it was all about.

Rui wanted Nene to understand his current feelings as he inched closer towards her, turning the umbrella a bit to cover them further from the remaining fallen raindrops.

He took back his initial statement where he thought that her smile could radiate the whole world around him.

She is, in fact, his whole little world.
