It’s such a lovely day, we should pocket the sunshine

Summary:

Peter is still grieving over his aunt.

Somethings up with Wanda.

Stephen just wants to be there for his family.

Work Text:

Peter had recently gone through his aunt’s things after a month had passed. That only caused him to start grieving again. He would stay locked in his room and just cry.

Wanda and Stephen tried to make him feel better, but there was only so much they could do. Each day Peter was reminded of what happened that night. The night he lost his aunt.

Wanda and Stephen didn’t know the full story. All they knew is that Peter went home after fixing his suit with Tony, and he saw his aunt’s dead body on the floor. That’s the reason he had blood on his clothes when Wanda and Stephen saw him.

Peter was up in his room, and wasn’t responding to either one of them. It sounded like he was crying.

“What’s should we do?”

Stephen asked Wanda. She was making a salad for their lunch. One of Peter’s favorite salads. He still hadn’t come down though. Wanda shook her head softly. No matter what they tried, Peter wouldn’t come out. Not even to eat.

“I don’t know, Stephen. He hasn’t even been showing up to his therapy sessions, I doubt we’re gonna get him out.”

“I can’t just let him slowly kill him self up there!”

“I know! I know… but we’ve tried everything!”

“Maybe… he just needs a day to try and forget?”

“About his dead aunt who cared for him after his parents died? He ain’t forgetting that.”

“Not like that! We take him out, and do whatever he wants.”

“A-are you guys fighting?”

They turned quickly to see Peter standing at the kitchen doorway. He still has tears in his eyes, and was gripping the front of his shirt tightly.

“We aren’t fighting, Peter. Where did you get that from?”

Stephen held his arm out, and Peter went to his side quickly. He buried his head into Stephen’s side and softly sniffled. Stephen rubbed his arm, letting Peter cry into his chest.

Wanda went over to Peter’s other side, and rubbed his back. Peter grabbed onto her arm and held them both close. Stephen and Wanda stood there, letting Peter hold onto them as he cried. They were just thankful that he had come out of his room.

“I made your favorite, Peter. Are you hungry?”

Peter nodded. Stephen grabbed a napkin from the table, and dried Peter’s tears that were still running down his face.

“Here, you need to eat.”

Wanda got out of his grasp and went to go serve him a small plate of salad. Peter clung onto Stephen.

“Peter, I’m glad you’re finally out..”

“I-I missed you guys..”

“That’s nice of you…”

Peter hid his face and gripped Stephen’s cloak. Wanda set a plate of salad on the table, and went back over to comfort the boy.

Peter was basically squished between them, and he held them both close. He felt safe around them. He was comfortable enough to call them his parents, and he honestly cared about them a lot.

Sure, he had Tony and the rest of the Avengers, but… there was just something about Stephen and Wanda that made him trust them so much.

“Alright Peter, you need to eat. Take a shower, and we’ll take you out today. Sound good?”

Wanda asked, brushing Peter’s hair back. Peter gave a soft nod.

That sounded… nice.

—————————

“Are you almost done, Wanda?”

Stephen asked, sitting on the edge of their bed. Wanda was still getting ready in the bathroom. Stephen felt like he had been waiting for hours.

In reality, it had only been 30 minutes. Peter was still getting ready too, so Stephen didn’t mind. Stephen was just always impatient. But he would wait.

“Stephen, I don’t know which one to choose!”

Wanda came out of the bathroom, in just a Lacey black bra. Stephen’s breathe hitched. Wanda was holding up two shirts. One dark red, one a lighter red. They were different designs, and Stephen couldn’t deny that Wanda would’ve looked stunning in both.

“Which one?”

“Oh Wanda… how do you manage to look so beautiful?”

Stephen got up and pushed the shirts down gently. They hit the floor, and Wanda wrapped her arms around Stephen quickly. He made her knees go weak.

“You didn’t answer my question, Stephen.”

“You’d look stunning in both. You truly are gorgeous.”

“Why… thank you.”

“You’re blushing.”

Stephen teased, watching as Wanda went the same shade as her dark red shirt that was laying on the floor. Wanda gave him a slight shove, causing Stephen to curse under his breathe. Wanda turned on her heel, before feeling hands grab onto her hips. Stephen pulled her back so that her back was pressed against her chest.

“Playing hard to get?”

“You know I love teasing you.”

“And you know I hate it.”

“Is someone getting excited?”

“Oh you wish, Miss Maximoff.”

“Aw… no Mrs.Strange?”

“Mrs.Strange?”

“Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

“I think there’s something else that has a ring to it..”

“That is?”

“Give me your hand.”

Wanda held her hand out, and felt Stephen slide something onto her finger. She looked and it and gasped.

“Is this…”

“A promise ring? Yes. I traveled through millions of dimensions to get the perfect one…”

The ring was a dark red, and it was smooth and shiny. In the middle it had an “S” on it. Wanda couldn’t help but stare at it.

“Beautiful.”

Wanda mumbled under her breathe. The ring matched the color of her nails. It matched almost all the clothes she owned, and would probably watch her suit too.

Stephen had picked out her favorite color, knowing how much she absolutely adored it. Who knows how long it took him to find. Even if it only took about 2 minutes, the fact he even got her a ring was amazing. Her love for him grew everyday.

“And look, I got one to match yours.”

Stephen held his own hand up, and revealed a dark blue ring with an “W” on it. The shade of blue was like the one he wore often. The shade of blue that was pretty much everywhere in the house. Stephen’s favorite shade of blue.

Stephen cleared his throat, and Wanda realized how much his hands were shaking. He slid his hand down, only for Wanda to grab it gently.

“Uh… excuse the scars..”

“They’re beautiful.”

“Beautiful? Wanda, they’re anything but,-“

“They’re apart of you. They’re beautiful.”

Wanda bought his hand up to her lips, and kissed the middle of his hand. Stephen’s breathe hitched ever so slightly.

His hands were extremely sensitive at times, and for some reason they were extra sensitive today.

“I love the rings, Stephen.”

“I was thinking I could get one for spider-baby.”

“With what name?”

“His aunt’s. As a way to honor her.”

“Mom, dad! I’m ready!”

Stephen pushed Wanda in to the bathroom, since she was still shirtless. Peter walked in and threw himself on their bed.

Peter loved their bed did some odd reason. He said it was comfy, which was true but Stephen didn’t really see the big deal. It was just a random mattress that Wong had gifted him for becoming Sorcerer Supreme.

Very odd gift to receive.

“Is mom ready?”

“Just finishing up.”

Peter nodded and curled up into a little ball. He was comfortable, and the cold air was making him sleepy.  He closed his eyes, deciding that he would just rest them and as soon as Wanda was ready, he would get up and they would all spend the day together as a family.

Well… that didn’t work out to well. He ended up falling asleep, and Stephen was too busy watching tv to notice. It didn’t even take long for Wanda to finish up.

“Alright, I’m ready. You guys ready to- Peter?”

Wanda looked at the teen who was snoring softly. She looked at Stephen who laughed softly and stood up from their bed. He turned the tv off and shook Peter softly. Peter whined and tried to cuddle more into the bed.

“Peter, c’mon bud.”

“I’m sleepy..”

“We’re gonna go out.”

“Carry me..”

Peter held his arms out, so Wanda picked him up with zero hesitation. She lifted him up like he weighed nothing.

“Alright, where to first?”

—————————

“I had fun!”

Peter said happily, his hands intertwined with Wanda and Stephen’s. They both smiled down at him. Peter basically planned out their day, and it was honestly just relaxing. A relaxing, fun day as a family.

Stephen honestly felt joy around Wanda and Peter. Before, he was cold and didn’t even have time for anyone. All he cared about was his money, and his success. But now… all that changed.

He had Wanda, his beautiful, kind girlfriend. She was everything he had ever wanted. She showed him how to love, in a  way. He never thought he would have time to love anyone. Hell, he expected to be single for the rest of his life. Then, Wanda came into his life. And he couldn’t have been happier.

He also had Peter, who he honestly got attached too. Peter was just a kid, but he honestly impacted his and Wanda’s life. They were a family. Peter had come along, and they were suddenly labeled as a family. Not that any of them minded, of course.

He already knew what he wanted to do in the future.

Marry Wanda, and adopt Peter.

That way, everyone would know that they were a family. That they were happy.

And in all honesty, it was all Stephen had ever wanted.

—————————

“Wanda, you need to stop eating these weird things.. this can’t be good for you.”

“It’s good.”

Stephen watched as Wanda dipped her pickles into a sweet strawberry jam. Stephen wasn’t one to judge, but Wanda had been eating some odd things lately. Especially at night.

He would wake up to an empty bed, go downstairs and find Wanda eating ice cream with hot sauce. She would be embarrassed, but Stephen would keep her company and they would just talk while Wanda ate her late night snack.

Sometimes Peter would join, but that was only on the weekends when he would stay up late.

“Stephen, I’m tired.”

“Need me to carry you?”

“No I… I think I’m okay..”

Wanda got up quickly, used her magic to put her things away, and quickly went upstairs. Stephen sat there for a minute, before getting up and following after Wanda.

She was laying on their bed, the covers pulled tightly around her. The lights were off, so Stephen just jumped into bed next to bed. He tried wrapping his arms around her, only for Wanda to push him off.

“Is something wrong?”

“Yes..”

“What’s wrong, love? Can I hold you?”

Wanda sniffled, turning to look at Stephen with tears in her eyes. Stephen lifted his hand up to wipe them away. He still didn’t hold her and pull her close, mostly because he didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable.

“I-I… I’m insecure, I’ve been gaining weight like crazy.. I j-just feel like this isn’t me,-“

“Love, I haven’t noticed any change?”

“I’ve been wearing loose clothing… I-I didn’t want you to see,-“

“Why not? It’s who you are. I’d never look at you any differently just because you gained weight. You’re still you, Wanda. You’re still the girl I love.”

This seemed to cheer Wanda up. She slowly leaned forward, and embraced Stephen. Stephen held her close and pecked her lips.

“Get some rest, my love.”

—————————

Steohen awoke to an empty bed. He noticed the door to the bathroom was open. He took a moment to adjust to the brightness, before he heard retching from the bathroom.

That caused him to shoot up from bed and run to the bathroom. He looked around and saw Wanda sitting on the floor, her face hovering over the toilet.

“Wanda!”

Stephen was quick to pull her hair back. Wanda panted softly, before staring up at Stephen who just looked concerned.

“T-that stuff I ate probably caused this..”

“Wanda, I don’t think you should be eating so late at night..”

“Yeah… I just get hungry..”

“Just don’t eat weird things. Now, good morning to you.”

“Morning wizard.”

Stephen smiled and pecked he’d cheek. Wanda leaned against him. They sat on the floor, with Stephen pressing Wanda against his side.

“Shall we get you some breakfast?”

“Mhm.”
