Chapter 1: Caught
The moon glowed brightly under the layers of clouds in the late-night sky. It's quiet, almost deafening, but the occasional sounds of crashing waves broke the peaceful silence of the night. Most houses had their lights off, sleeping deeply into their slumber accompanied by their respective dreams, except for some of them.
A certain green-haired girl tossed and turned on her worn-out mattress, trying to get some shut-eye before the next daybreak came, but to no avail, her body doesn't seem to feel tired just yet. She sat up on her bed abruptly, not caring if her head spun from the sudden movement. The vibrant red scarf placed on her nightstand was harshly yanked before she wrapped them around her neck for comfort.
Slender fingers find their way to fiddle with the soft fabric, a sudden familiar nostalgic wave of feelings starts to surface in her chest. She had no idea why or how the scarf forced such an impact on her life, but she knew almost nothing about herself anyway- so that just makes sense. Pretty much.
"Can't sleep?" A sudden gruff voice coming from her doorframe caused her to accidentally flung the figure out of her room using her quirk. Her hands searched for the gun hidden under her pillow as she instinctively stayed in a defensive stance, body tensed up as she warily eyed the door.
The black-haired man, who had ended up hitting the wall behind him, groaned painfully from the sudden attack. Although his back is burning from the hard brick wall hitting his spine, he still manages to chuckle when his turquoise eyes land on the still cautious girl in the room. "Wow, is that a way to treat the one you call your brother?"
Tense shoulders noticeably relaxed when she recognized the male. "Oh, it's just you." She muttered under her breath. The gun in her hand was once again hung limp on her sides.
She didn't even bother to help the groaning man on the floor but instead walked back to her bed and sat on the old mattress. "What are you doing here at this hour?" The gun was placed under her pillows again, just like she did every night. She felt the additional weight beside her, but she didn't bother to acknowledge his presence as she stared off into space.
"Just felt like checking on you tonight. But it seems like you are not doing so good either, huh?" Purple-patched hands set their place on her head comfortingly in a brotherly manner, as he massaged her scalp softly. He earned a satisfied hum in the process, feeling the petite girl leaned into his touch.
Dabi pressed his lips into a thin line from her behavior, obviously worried by her strange attitude. "Do you want to talk about it?" He whispered softly. His question didn't meet their answer for quite a few seconds, but the contented girl in his arms eventually started to shake her head in response. "I don't even know what's wrong." That was all she said defeatedly.
"Hm, do you want to get it off your mind tonight?" He suggested quietly. For a while, there was no answer. He thought that the girl had slept and prepared to get up when his hand then was suddenly being held by a soft surface that was none other than her hand as his eyes met with a pair of shining heterochromatic ones. It was twinkling, and a small smile was stretched out on her face, staring at him with wide eyes. (Was that stars in her eyes?)
Oh no, Dabi knows that expression. She's starting again and there was no way he could regress now. Good job, Dabi, so much for wanting a peaceful night. Bye bye sleeping, you shall be missed.
"You got a place?" She asked. Emerald and turquoise eyes shone hopefully into his piercing blue ones. The adult simply nodded at her question, and that is the only thing that matters before she gets ready with her types of equipment.
Dabi watched as she excitedly packed her knives, daggers, guns and wore her villain suit, with her scarf staying around her neck. He could feel the brightness radiating off her aura, and he couldn't help but chuckle at her adorableness. Dabi would see her like this all night if he needs to sacrifice his precious nap, she deserves it, anyway. "How long have you not gone out these days?" He asked her.
"I don't remember. Maybe a week?" She pondered, trying to recall her memories, only to get a headache in return. The male was immediately alarmed and rushed to her side in concern. "Hey, it's okay. You don't have to remember them, alright?"
The pounding in her head slowly subsides before they are completely gone. She flashed a reassuring smile to the man, who still had his heart thumping furiously in worry. He let out a relieved smile, ruffling her hair before they stepped out of their makeshift home, which is actually an abandoned building that is hidden in the city.
The duo took out their respective masks and placed them on their faces. They wouldn't care less if the public knew them but having a feel of being a villain is quite thrilling. (Her words, not Dabi's.)
Dabi took the first step as he took off to the nearest rooftop, with his partner following close behind. Their swift movements almost make them look like foxes. Shoes making no sounds as they jumped from rooftop to rooftop, enjoying the night breeze while they were at it.
Soon enough, both of them arrived at a secluded alleyway, where their first victim was located. The girl could feel the adrenaline rushing through her veins. Her eyes are locked on the local hero, who is unaware of their surroundings.
Do they even deserve to be called a hero, though?
Masked shining emerald eyes and piercing turquoise ones analyzed their movements with hatred laced in their gazes. They saw the way how the hero's hands groped onto the innocent lady's no-no part before Dabi's partner couldn't take it anymore and ended up pouncing on the fake hero. Dabi didn't bother to stop her when she stabbed the hero to the brink of death, enough to paralyze them, but not until they were dead.
She is too sadistic for that. The green-haired villain would rather let these scums painfully suffer than let them experience a quick death.
When she was done, Dabi could barely make out their disfigured state. He was sure that the hero couldn't continue their work anymore, or perhaps the most they could do is lying on the hospital bed until the grim reaper comes and retrieve their sorry soul. A green blur came up to his side, finally finished her job. "Let's go." She said. Her voice was distorted from the voice changer of her mask.
Dabi followed her as he caught up to her sides, "What about we go for the stores next?" His lips tugged into a suggestive smirk under his mask. He could feel her eyes widened by his idea before she stopped her tracks on one of the rooftops in the town. "Do you want to alarm the heroes? Are you crazy?" She whispers-screamed, bewildered.
"Oh, come on. Killin' some heroes can only do a little. What harm in creating some ruckus in an empty store anyway." He shrugged his shoulders. The girl bit her slightly cracked lips in consideration, which only frustrates the male a little bit by her reluctance.
"I promise we won't get caught, okay?" He brought up his pinky finger up to her face, waiting for the girl to wrap her shorter ones around his. She sighed, "Alright." Her pinky finger sealed the promise, and he grinned in delight. When he was about to pull away, she tightened her hold and glared at him. "But if we get caught, just know that I'm gonna beat your ass after that."
"Yeah, yeah." He said casually, but a lump of saliva made its way to his throat as he pushed them down forcefully. He knew that his partner could give a good beating when she meant them. Girl's punches are hurtful, no cap.
The girl gave a small huff, gesturing him to lead the way, and he happily obliged. They jumped past a few streets before they arrived at one of the 24-hour convenience stores opened at the time.
Both of them safely landed on the road, checking to see there's no one except for the half-asleep cashier inside. Dabi grinned and opened the door, his partner following behind right at his tail. Everyone would've known they are villains based on their clothing, not to mention those sketchy-looking masks hanging on their faces. Or the dry blood on the girl's outfit, which doesn't belong to her.
"Well? What do we do now?" She whispered. Dabi didn't say anything as he walked into one of the aisles, sneakily stealing the chip and placing them in his coat. The girl watched him with an are-you-serious look on her face, but they couldn't be seen since they were blocked by her mask anyway. "Really? I should've gone kill some fake-ass heroes than do this with you." She said.
"Just shut up and take whatever you wanted. We don't have any stocks of food anymore since that someone ate all of them yesterday." He rolled his eyes in fake annoyance, hands grabbing some more food as he hid them in his coat. She scoffed, "What? You want to leave me to starve?"
"What are you two doing?"
The villains' whipped their heads when they heard the deep voice coming from their backs, finding a hobo man with a strange scarf wrapping around his shoulders. "Shit." Dabi cursed under his breath. The green-haired girl almost facepalmed at his stupidity, and she instantly grabbed his arms, only missing a few inches from getting caught in his capture gear.
They didn't bother to use the door as they jumped out the window, sprinting along on the dimly lit roads. "I TOLD YOU THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!" She exclaimed as they ran from the hobo man, who was right on their tails, chasing them in the middle of the night. "I DIDN'T KNOW THAT ERASERHEAD, OUT OF ALL PEOPLE, WOULD BE ON PATROL TODAY, DUMBASS!" Dabi replied.
Dabi tried to use his quirk, but he couldn't due to the underground hero using his at the moment. He could feel the panic raised in his chest, glancing behind to check the hero who was still behind them.
"I need backup right now at XXX street. Two villains are trying to escape." Eraserhead said to his earpiece, alerting the two villains in front of him. The teenager cursed under her breath, trying to think of a way to escape, but came up with nothing. Her quirk is erased too.
"I'm so gonna beat your ass when we get home later." She muttered for her partner to hear, who sweatdropped by her threat. They turn to a random street, finding an empty, dark road with a few houses on the side. "Listen, I think we should just fight him off," Dabi said.
"You are talking out of all people now?" The girl scoffed in disbelief. She turned back to see the hero getting closer to them, and she felt the anxiety rise in her chest as the fear creeps up to her back. ("Run, run, my baby~ Don't let me catch you now~,") For some reason, the fear of being chased felt painfully familiar to her until she couldn't think straight. ("My baby is a good girl, yes? Let's play tag and see who wins~! Don't you like the sound of that, Iz-" No, no, go away, don't come near, someone please, help me, please, please, please-) She couldn't hear her partner talking, and the world around her was spinning.
"-u!"
"Not now please, go away, I don't want to play."
"Hey! Are..."
"No! STOP, please..."
At the next moment, she was getting lifted from the ground. "-Ku!" When she was back to her senses, the only thing she realized was the addition of the R-rated hero with an overly muscled blonde dude standing in front of her. But they are upside down. And her stomach hurts too.
Damn you bones.
"What... happened?" She barely mustered out. Dabi looked like he was relieved for a second before they turned serious again. He slowly put her down, placing his head near her ears as he whispered out. "They brought All Might and Midnight here. We need to be careful." The female villain nodded and started analyzing the two pro-heroes in front of her as she activated her left side, erupting beautiful green flames while keeping her glare on the heroes.
"You are surrounded!" All Might boomed out, readying his position in an attacking stance in case the villains did something. (Why the actual fuck is he here?) Dabi followed his partner, activating his quirk as well. Thankfully Eraserhead blinked, and he is currently trying to regain his eyesight. "What should we do now, Deku?" He whispered as he backed up against her, facing the underground hero.
"Distract them. There's no way we could win out of this." She whispered back. The blue-flamed fire user nodded silently before charging at the underground hero. Deku used her quirk to create a slight distraction before running towards the other direction, where Dabi's fighting Eraserhead.
"LET'S GO!" Deku shouted to her partner, climbing up to the rooftop with him following right after. They managed to get a few streets away from the heroes before stopping to catch their breath. "Don't you fucking dare." She warned when she saw Dabi try to reason with her. Her heterochromatic eyes bore directly into his skulls threateningly in anger.
Dabi shrank from the proximity of her glare. "Hey, at least we're safe-"
"Well, what do we have here? Two birdies trying to run, hm?"
Deku's eyes widened at the voice of the winged hero as she tried to make a run again, only for his feathers to scoop her scarf up, pulling her towards the blonde hero. "Just sleep for the night, okay?"
And that is the last thing she heard before losing her consciousness, not before catching a glimpse of Dabi passing out from the unknown gas coming from the R-Rated hero, slipping into a deep slumber after being caught by 4 heroes that night.
'So much for being heroes.'
