Work Text:
Jack was wandering the bunker, searching for the adults when he walked into the kitchen finding, Castiel, Sam, and Dean.
Normally, he's content to be pretty self-sufficient but there are some days where it's a bit too much. And right now, he's hungry.
He could make a sandwich or something but they are right there. Plus, he's made plenty of mistakes in the kitchen even when he didn't use any kitchen appliances.
He's still unsure how you fry a toaster without interacting with it. Castiel believes it has something to do with his angelic side being overstimulated or having excess energy and it just fried out the closest electric energy it could find.
"Hello," Jack greeted, garnering their attention, he could play this subtly, but... "I'm hungry," Jack said plainly. Something told him it's best to just be blunt. Otherwise, it goes over their heads.
Sam and Castiel glanced at each other and nodded in agreement, "Hi, Hungry. We're Dad." It was said in a deadpan delivery but if you knew the two you could see their amusement in their terrible joke.
"Nope." Dean said, grabbing everyone's attention, "No, no, no, no, no, no and just to be clear…" He cleared his throat, "No."
"What?" Sam asked. He had a good idea what it was about but wanted to confirm it and it seems like Dean was more than happy to elaborate.
"Telling Dad jokes? Fine, I'll endure." Dean started, "I'll hate it, but I know that's a losing battle." He knew that from experience, which is exactly why he had to be firm about this now, "Telling Dad jokes in unison? Absolutely not." He said pointing at Sam and Castiel in a lecturing manner, "Nope. We're not doing that."
There was an awkward silence as Sam and Castiel tried not to laugh at Dean's response, meanwhile, Dean was waiting for them to challenge his statement.
"So... Can we have lunch?" Jack asked, breaking the silence. They turned towards him wondering how they missed all the noise he had to have been making.
Jack was at the fridge, with a good portion of the fridge emptied. He was just trying to showcase what they had.
Dean got out of his seat, sighing, and immediately kicked them all out so he could, "focus on cooking without you three messing with my kitchen."
Jack did end up getting his food an hour later, it would have gone quicker if Dean wasn't busy ranting about awful Dad jokes and gross couples. He kept forgetting he was cooking, Jack wasn't complaining, he got his food and they didn't have to replace anything, it was a win for him.
