your knight in shining armor is a loser in disguise.

Summary:

“Leave me alone for Archon’s sake,” Eula tried to shrug her hand off, feeling annoyed. It seemed that some people had irritated her earlier. It wasn’t rare that some people tried to be indignant and provocative once they found out she’s a Lawrence. She kept chugging more booze down to her throat, that is until she realized it was actually her lover’s arm. Her sunset eyes shot wide open when she realized the Outrider’s presence. “Oh, oh. Amber."

It's you.

Chapter Text

It was an ordinary morning in Mondstadt, the bright sunshine and the cool breeze of the wind, such perfect weather for a jog. Amber was so excited, today Eula would be finally home after two weeks on an ongoing reconnaissance mission. Amber started her day with an early morning jog as usual, from Springvale to the Dawn Winery. She had another good run today, it felt that she was having a great day. Well, that is until she got back to the city gates, a figure seemed to wave in her direction and it became clearer who the person was as it approached. Oh, it’s Kaeya.

“Amber, there you are,” the Cavalry Captain greeted, strangely enough his clothes were messy. “Eula, she got back and has been drinking since, now she’s really drunk and—” without even letting him finish the sentence, Amber rushed to the Angel’s Share after hearing what the Cavalry Captain said. Kaeya never really cared about Eula’s drinking habits. Well, because they were similar in a way, weren’t they? But if there was something that made him need to search for Amber, there must be something wrong.

Entering the tavern, she looked for her girlfriend who is said to be heavily drunk. After scanning the tavern with only a few customers inside, she finally found the Captain of the Reconnaissance Company. Eula was sitting alone in the corner of the tavern, the sunlight from the window beside her basked her figure. She looked so ethereal for some reason.

“She’s been drinking since she got here,” said Diluc from behind the bar, cleaning up the used glasses. The Outrider was too focused on finding her lover to realize there was someone standing there, that is the owner of the tavern himself. “She had about ten glasses in a row now.”

Amber was shocked, “Ten glasses, in the morning?”. The brunette was very worried about her lover. Sure, Eula was a heavy drinker, but she'd never been this bad before, let alone drunk so early in the morning. It's surprising that she hadn't fainted after drinking all of that booze.

Amber approached her lover. When she got closer, she could see Eula’s face more clearly. Her face was all red and puffy from all the drinking, and there’s a hint of tears in her cloudy sunset eyes. She might have cried earlier. At that moment, Amber was so concerned about Eula’s condition. “Oh my Archons, Eula!” she yelped while reaching her shoulder, hoping for her lover to notice her.

“Oh, oh . Amber, it’s you,” she murmured, with an effort to keep the liquor from spilling from her mouth.

“Eula! You reek of alcohol! It’s time to go home!” said the other woman. Hearing her lover’s scolding, Eula just groaned. Amber raised Eula’s body from the chair, and put her arm on her shoulders. She didn’t resist it at first, but started to mutter random words that Amber couldn’t catch.

“One more, hic ! One, one more drink please, love ,” she whispered with hiccups against the Outrider’s ear, dangerously close. Her voice was raspy and she was breathing heavily. Hearing that, Amber tried to ignore her still and brought her out of the tavern. Yet after hearing her talk like that , it made her heart beat a little faster.

Coming out of the tavern, Eula did not speak a word that Amber could catch. She kept on groaning and muttering into Amber’s ears, and it somehow made Amber feel butterflies in her stomach. Oh my Archons, this is so dangerous . To break the uncomfortable silence, the brunette decided to speak.

“Why are you even drunk at this time, it’s not even 12 o’clock yet!” scold Amber. Hearing what Amber said, Eula just groaned and said nothing until her lover jabbed her side. “I’m– hic! I’m fine, I’m fine…”

“No, you’re not. You have never been this drunk before,” Amber sighed. She knew that the people of Mondstadt tended to be rude to Eula to the point that she couldn’t even buy groceries at shops and drink in taverns peacefully. She really wished people would see her as she is, as Eula, not as a Lawrence.

After walking for a while, the Outrider thought it was time for them to take a break, judging by Eula’s body started to feel heavy that she kept stumbling while walking. They both found a wooden bench and decided to sit there for a while.

Amber put Eula to the wooden bench and put the woman’s head into her shoulder to keep her from straining her neck. “You know,” Amber started, “you could talk to me. You don’t have to bottle up your feelings."

"I am your girlfriend, after all."

There was nothing but silence after Amber said that sentence, it made the brunette doubt that Eula could even hear what she just said. She just sighed and closed her eyes, resting for a while until they could walk again to Eula’s apartment.

But suddenly, she felt the cryo woman’s cold but soft lips on her neck, trying to nip her skin. That action made both of Amber’s eyes shot wide open in shock. Her face was red, more than the color of her outer jacket. “Eek! Eula, what were you trying to do?!”

“Girlfriend… hic!” Eula muttered, “my girlfriend– hic!

Oh Archons, oh my Archons.

“You– ugh, nevermind. Come on, let’s go,” Amber ranted to her lover. Though it’s useless because after saying what made Amber’s face feel hotter than the sun, Eula fell asleep. So the Outrider decided that it was time to continue their way to Eula’s dorm, staying on that bench would be bad for her own sake.

After what felt like forever, they finally arrived at the Knights of Favonius Headquarters, greeted by Athos alongside with Porthos. Inside, Wood and Wyratt could be seen. Wood offered some assistance to Amber to help her carry Eula upstairs, but she declined saying that she could do it on her own.

Arriving at Eula’s dorm upstairs, Amber searched for the key in her lover’s pockets. After she found the key and opened the door, Amber laid down Eula on her bed. The Outrider sat down beside The Captain of the Reconnaissance Company. She wondered to her long eyelashes, when will her lover open up her feelings?

Standing up to get her a glass of water, suddenly an arm grabbed her to stay seated on the bed.

“Stay, please,” Eula whispered.

Amber sighed as she listened to her lover’s wish.
