Here are ideas I had but cannot make the cut of the 30 days
Wander au: Angst, Marriage, Amnesia, Unrequited love, Disappearance
Thoma loses his vision in this au.
Ayato comes home to see Thoma being aggressive towards everyone in the clan.
Ayato attempts to make Thoma stay with him but Thoma refuses, of course..why should he? He doesn't know the man.
Heartbroken, Ayato agrees and sends Thoma home...back to Mondtsadt.
There, Thoma falls in love with a woman (who looks like Ayato strangely....) and marries her.
Years passed and one day a package from Inazuma is sent to Thoma's footstep.
He opens it and there his vision sits.
Memories flood back into his brain and he remembers his love for Ayato and how much he adores him.
But he's already married.
What's even worse is that Inaazuma has now opened up to the rest of the world and his wife wants to go there.
Not only has he had to act as a caring husband, but now he has to find Ayato to apologize for the pain he has caused him.
Unfortunately, Ayaka was there to say her brother has disappeared from the public eye ever since the day he let him go. Not even she knows where he is, the man only communicating in letters now and only coming back on her birthday.
And to top it all off, he only has a week on the Inazuman shores to locate him.
As he continues to find him, his marriage is slowly becoming more strained and his love for his ex-master rekindles.
So now he has to make a choice...will he choose between his wife...or the love he left so broken amongst the sea of bitterness?
Ghost Au: Angst, Fluff, Eventual Happy ending
Ayato is a beginner exorcist working under his Aunt Yae's family shrine. He was sent there by his parents for "therapy" purposes after he nearly drowned with another boy his age during a boating accident; which caused him a bit of amnesia and brain fog.
That's where he meets a strange little spirit.
It was weak but Ayato still found it charming. So without his aunt's knowledge, he helped the spirit grow stronger.
After a few years, the spirit's little orb form transformed into an amnesiac spirit of a blond boy and during those said years, they slowly fell in love with each other.
Cue in cute shenanigans.
But Aunt Yae finds out and tells Ayato to exorcise the spirit. Ayato refuses and Yae gets mad at that. Never in her life was her judgment this opposed...much less by her nephew himself.
So with the spirit, he decides to run away. But he knew in his heart that he had to exorcise the spirit someday. That's why while on the run, Ayato secretly gathers information to see where the spirit's grave was.
As this happens, the spirit is starting to regain his memories. More and more.
Eventually, the boy remembers his name. "Thoma".
At that, Ayato looked at him in shock.
That...was the boy he got into the accident with.
...wait a minute....last time he checked...the boy was in a decade-old coma....not dead...
Oh god-
So with Yae now hot in their trail, they run to the hospital where Thoma's body is kept.
They arrived just in time before Thoma's mother, plagued with debt is now deciding to cut off her son's life support.
Ayato does a little ritual and soon Thoma's spirit entered into his body, waking him up.
cue in recovery and cute ending.
