“Don’t worry. I’ve got your arm, don’t worry.”
“I’m not worried, Yelena. If anything, it’s you who should be worried about giving yourself a heart attack with how stressed you are over me.”
Yelena laughed. “I am not that stressed! Just…concerned for your safety,” she said, holding tightly onto Kate’s arm as they slowly made their way around the icy rink.
Kate had wanted to bring them ice skating weeks ago, but Yelena’s ‘nighttime activities’ had ben causing her to come home injured almost every night, delaying their outing.
But now, finally, she was here with her favorite person in the world, and she couldn’t have been happier. Well, she might be happier if Yelena was less overbearing.
She shuffled forward, hanging on to the rail beside her.
“Honestly, you can let go of me, I’ve got the hang of this now.”
Yelena looked unsure. “Are you certain?” she asked.
“Yeah, I’m good.”
Yelena cautiously let go of Kate’s arm, and Kate released her tight grip on the railing.
She carefully skated away from the railing and tried to speed up. Suddenly, she found herself falling. She tried to steady herself, but it was no use.
She braced herself for the fall, and then landed in a par of steady arms instead. She looked up into Yelena’s sparkling hazel eyes. “You caught me,” Kate said, somewhat shocked by the quick catch.
Yelena smiled.
“I’ll always be here to catch you, my маленький ястреб.”
