Work Text:
The Promise of Tomorrow
Another day, to toil and try,
No time to hesitate, to doubt ;
To nightly misgivings, saying goodbye
I clear my mind and stumble out.
Maybe this will be the day
I unburden myself, and am reassured
He won't be deceived, or led astray
By bigots and fear ; won't draw his sword.
Another night, to rest and regret
The mistakes I made while Hemera reigned
Another night, to worry and fret
To relax and to be by Hypnos claimed.
And as I drift, I dare to hope
For a better tomorrow, for righted wrongs;
A time when I can easily cope
With the hardship and trials that last so long.
I live today and hope that tomorrow
Will bring me the courage to do as I must,
To end the unease, the mourning, the sorrow
And bring us a rule that is righteous and just.
I welcome tomorrow, but also dread
The moment when Hypnos must loosen his hold,
But I'll welcome the daylight, won't hang my head
I'll hide my fatigue, I'll act bright and bold.
So when today seems full of doom,
When I ache for someone who understands
I'll let my mind wander away from the room,
To a future where Magic stands tall and grand.
We must remember, we must recall
The sanctuary that tomorrow provides
Enduring every rise and fall,
Outwardly worn, but radiant inside.
