Lightning cracks across the night sky. Chugging a speed potion Impulse rushes around bringing his animals and villagers indoors.
It’s probably the worst storm the hermits have seen, and the fact that it’s a new server isn’t helping matters. Lightning crashes down, uncomfortably close. Grabbing the other speed potion from his inventory. Impulse grabs Jellie; why she was out in the storm Impulse doesn't want to know, and pushes her inside.
Turning to drink the potion a blinding white light and the sharp crack of thunder fill the air. Blinding pain fills his body and everything goes black.

“You ok?”
“Impulse?”
“He’s breathing.”
“no heartbeat.”
“GET XISUMA!”
“please be ok.”
Shooting upright Impulse coughs and looks around, “Ugh, what happened?”
A light hand on his hand snaps his attention over to where Tango is looking at him with worry filling his eyes, “You got struck by lightning… you glitched.”
“We thought you were dead…” Zed murmurs pressing his hand against Impulses.
“I didn’t… how long?”
“Few days,” Tango pushes him back down onto the bed, “Stay there.”
“Sorry,” Impulse drums his hand on the bed frame, “I need to move.”
Zed looks over to Tango, “Here we’ll call Doc and Gem over, they can tell if you’re ok or not.”
“I feel fine, what could happen.”
“Wellll, let's see,” Zed starts, “Side effects of a Lightning Strike. “Breathing problems, Confusion, memory problems, irregular heartbeat, hearing loss, numbness, tingling, Weakness and Vision problems, and more,” He ticks off on his fingers, “So yeah, a lot could happen.”
“oh.”
“We think you’re mostly ok though.” Tango swats at Zed, “Doc ran some tests, and they came back good.”
“That’s good.” Impulse taps his hand on his leg.
“Oh, looks like you’ve got some speed potion left in your system,” Gem chirps as she pushes the door open, “Good to see you awake. I’ll go get some milk.”
“But, I wasn't going fast?”
“Uh, you got some motion blur. I’d say that’s faster than normal.”

A few days later and it’s confirmed.
He’s fast now.
It doesn't bother anyone. Not really.
Zedaph might complain about getting left behind but he holds no malice. Besides, Impulse will just pick him up and run with him if need be.
Or he’ll do it to be annoying. That’s always an option.
It’s pretty simple. Xisuma looking for a cure, Impulse not caring any particular way if it’s fixed or not.
Until a server meeting.
It takes hours.
Sitting in one spot the entire time.
By an hour in, Impulse is straight-up vibrating.
“You ok?”
“UH, i don't know…” Impulse shudders. “I just… i'm sorry but the explanation part is really boring. It feels a little like you all have a speed potion.”
“Oh.”
“Nothing is grounding me…” Impulse realizes, “It’s just one person talking. I'm not having to keep time with other people talking.”
Xisuma nods as Doc takes notes on what he’s saying, “We should experiment with this a bit more.”

Zed looks at Impulse and grins, “Race me.”
“Why?” Impulse asks, this was far from the first time Zedaph had asked to race. He lost by a lot every single time.
Holding up a glittering potion, Zed shrugs, “I might have made a potion to make me fast enough.”
“Ok, sure.”
A few seconds later the race is over and Zedaph is still way behind the finish line.
“Dang it.”

Sometimes it’s shocking just how fast he is. It’s only really noticed when he rushes past Keralis' base and shatters the window with the ensuing shock wave.
“Sorry.”
“It’s ok sweetface,” Keralis clicks his tongue, “No more running over here… that was loud.”
Impulse nods and helps Keralis reset all his widows.

Learning how the speed works will be a long and tedious process but it’ll work out eventually.
