    Legend could imagine how he looked to Hyrule in that initial, terrifying moment. Eyes unfocused and still, many injuries that had stopped leaking blood long enough ago that it had started to crust on him and in his wounds. Staring up at the canopy of the forest. Unmoving.

    “Legend, what-” Hyrule breathed, hands shifting on his arms. Legend could faintly see the glow of Hyrule’s magic where it reflected off of his belt buckle. Hyrule was searching for an injury, for something to fix.

    You couldn’t heal what was already gone.

    Hyrule’s breath stuttered, and he shook Legend gently. Legend’s body flopped unhelpfully, despite the way he was desperately straining to move, to breathe, to do anything that might reassure his brother. Hyrule shook him again, giving up on gentleness as he received no response. “Legend- Legend wake up, Legend-”

     

    OR
    Legend gets hit by the Curse Of Living Death.
    Trapped in his body, he watches Hyrule mourn him
    ...luckily, (when he shows up) Time recognizes the spell and therefore gives us a happy ending and the comfort to the hurt

    "Please," Warriors said with an expression of deep suffering. "One more time."

    Twilight, with a mirrored look of Hylia please end my suffering, repeated his statement. The words were... almost intelligible. They were right at the edge of Legend's understanding of Hylian, just different enough that he had to shove the syllables into some kind of sense.

    "Guys?" Sky called from the other side of camp. "Any luck?"

    "Twi's speaking in a really weird dialect, but I can mostly make sense of it," Legend reported. He was getting an ear for the differences, now. "You?"

    Beside Sky, Wild rolled on the ground like a dog, whining.

    “Why are we still here?” one of the travelers complained later that day. “It’s been almost two weeks. Usually we’d be gone by now.”

    “We haven’t accomplished our goal here,” the one with the scarf - Warriors - said with a shrug.

    Wind sighed, leaning back against a tree. “What is our goal?”

    Legend snorted at the question. “It’s obvious, isn’t it? We’re here to find Link.”

    The others all paused, processing that, and Link froze from where he was peeking out of the scarf.

    “... That… makes sense,” Four said after a moment.

    “I suppose that is fairly obvious,” Sky sighed. “But surely we’d have run into him by now?”

    Pressing his back against a higher fold of scarf so he wasn’t visible anymore, Link took quick, panicked breaths, keeping as quiet as possible. They were looking for him.

     

    Or: What if Hyrule was the last one to join the Chain, and what if he wasn't in the shape of a Hylian when he did it? And what if there were a lot of tears and some hugs at the very end?

    Legend had plenty of secrets.
    Some were harmless, some were embarrassing, some were of a life-or-death kind of importance.

    The curse ? Embarrassing, for sure. Harmless as long as he had it under control.

    And he wouldn't lose control, right ? So there was no point in telling this one secret.
    Unless a cave exploration changed his plans...
