“WHAT?” Luz and Amity screamed right after Willow showed them her newest post on Penstagram.

Luz pointed at Caleb in her picture, “Is that Hunter?” She gasped in shock.

“No, that’s Caleb.” Willow calmly replied while Amity was getting mad.

Amity glared at the picture, “And who is Caleb?”

Gus awkwardly cleared his throat, “A new student but I guess his other name is Hunter…”

“Willow, you can’t trust Hunter!” Amity cried, “didn’t you hear what he did to me and Luz? He tried to kill us, several times!”

Willow looked at Amity, “But he was nice to us. He’s just misunderstood! See?” Willow showed them her chat with Caleb. “He doesn’t even know how to type! He never had a scroll before! Belos is the reason he’s like this Amity!”

Amity snapped back, “He’s still dangerous! What if he bullies you? Or hurts you? Then would you say he’s misunderstood?”

Willow looked down at her feet, “Like you did?” she whispered. She whispered it very softly so only Amity would hear it. “Let’s go Emerald Entails.” Willow hurried back home with confused Gus, Skara and Viney trailing behind.

Amity still processing what Willow just said, jumped when Luz touched her shoulder. “Should I go after Willow, hermosa?”

Amity shook her head, “it was my fault… I should have not…” Luz shook her head, “Ay caramba! Amity, Willow can take care of herself you know. Don’t worry just talk it out with her and I’m sure everything would be fine.” Luz thought for a moment, “Remember when you used to bully people?”

Amity winced, “I rather forget about that.” Luz managed a smile, “I helped change that. Maybe Willow can do that for Hunter? Wouldn’t that be great? One less person in the Emperor’s Coven to deal with.” 

“Maybe batata…. Maybe…” Amity looked at her scroll, “It getting late, let’s head home. I’ll talk to Willow tomorrow.”

Willow walked in Hexside by herself the next day of school. You got this! Just talk to Amity how you did before. Don’t think too much. Willow thought desperately when she noticed that Amity Blight was waiting for her behind the school doors. Amity looked her usual self but something was different. She looked more tired and has eye bags. Kind of like Caleb.

”Willow!” Amity cried and hurried over. “I’m so sorry about yesterday! I know you can protect yourself but I was worried that something would happen to you. I should have not raised my voice like that. You can make your own friends Willow, and I am really really sorry. I might not like that stupid golden guard but I shouldn’t mess with your own personal business. So I’m sorry.” Amity took a deep breath and was about to spill out more apologies when Willow stopped her.

”Amity, I accept your apology.” Willow calmly replied with a smile. Amity took a deep breath of relief. “Thank you Willow!” 

Luz who was hiding behind one of the pillars ran towards Amity, picked her up and twirled around. “I knew you could do it hermosa!” Luz grinned as Amity who was a blushing mess nodded. Luz carefully put Amity back down. Amity looked back at Willow and smiled awkwardly, “Willow, do you want to have a sleep over with me later. Just the two of us, like old times?”

Willow’s  eyes widen in shock. She never really  thought that Amity would say something like this. Usually she just comes over to her house for advice on Luz. Willow responded, “Of course Amity!” Willow was saying the truth. She really wanted her relationship with Amity to get better.

Amity smiled really big, “I’ll text you in Penstagram later for details!” Amity waved goodbye to Willow. Luz whispered in Amity’s ear, “I need to say something to Willow, I’ll catch up!” Amity looked concerned, nodded and continued down the hall.

”Soooooo Willow?” Luz asked throwing one of her weak nerd arms around Willow. “What’s Hunter’s Penstagram account?” Willow looked at Luz, flabbergasted. “Luz, why do you need it?”

“Awwww are you already protective of that bad but sad boy?” Luz grinned and Willow flinched.  “Well, Caleb’s my friend.” 

“Okay fine. I need his Penstagram account to figure up what Belos is up too.” Luz spat out. Willow raised one of her eyebrows, “You don’t even have a Penstagram account or a scroll.”

Luz grinned mischievously, “Well Eda has one.”

Willow sighed, “Alright give me a piece of paper and I’ll write it down.”

Luz hugged Willow, “You are the best, girl!” Luz grabbed the paper and hurried back towards Amity. 

Should I warn Caleb? Willow thought. Luz was definitely going to annoy him with a loooooot of texts. Nah he’s the golden guard, Emperor’s right hand man. I’m sure he can handle this. He’ll probably just block Luz… wait does he even know how to do that?

"DARIUS!" Hunter screamed as he kicked down Darius' door and pulled out his scroll. "I NEED HELP!" 

Darius unfazed stared at the bad but sad boy and took a sip from his tea. "Little Prince, you are 15 minutes late to your sewing class. Sit down. You need to fix my door after this," Darius calmly replied.

Hunter looked behind at the door and winced, "Sorry I'll fix that later."

Darius snapped back, "Put away your scroll, and let's sew!" Hunter looked at his scroll, "B.b..but Darius, I need help with acronyms that teenage witches use!"

Darius sighed, "Alright... show me." 

Hunter grabbed out a paper with the list of acronyms that he recently learned.

Darius stared at the list of a second and then back at Hunter, "Man... well at least you're learning. So what do you want me to do? I have no idea what noob means soooooo..... should we just get back to sewing? Like we were supposed to be doing in the first place?"

Hunter looked down, "Alright, but first can you see this chat? Gus, Skara and Viney were all using weird slang that I don't understand. Captain wasn't there to tell me so I have no idea what is going on."

Darius sighed, "Fineeeeee....." 

Hunter showed him his scrolls' chat history with the Emerald Entails.

Hunter looked pleading at Darius, "What did I do wrong? What are they saying?" Darius squinted his eyes at the words on the tiny scroll.

Darius sighed, "I for once actually have no idea what the heck is going on. I'm too old for this...." Darius quickly added, "Now sewing?" Hunter nodded sadly. He still doesn't understand what the heck is going on. All he said was thanks to Willow for her hard work on being the captain. 

Darius pointed to the fabric with drawn in lines. "Soo today we are learning the running stitch."

"Thanks Darius for this lesson." Hunter told Darius after the very boring sewing lesson. He looked at the door, "About the door.... I ... I don't know how to fix it..." Darius glared at him, "Then why did you BEEPING kick down the BEEPING door?" Hunter looked at him and gasped, "Language Darius. The Emperor wouldn't be proud of your language in front of his.."

"Nephew... I know I know. Apologizes Little Prince." Darius groaned, "Just get out of here. Steve will deal with this."

"Which Steve?" Hunter asked, "Steve 1? Steve 2..." Darius glared at him and pointed at the door. "Just leave please, before I lose my BEEP."

Hunter left in a hurry because he didn't want to be there when Darius lost his BEEP. He looked at his watch, "Oh shoot. I'm late."

"Emperor?" Hunter asked as he walked into the dark throne room. "Uncle? You called me?" 

Near the throne room, Emperor Belos was on the floor coughing. "Hunte..hunter...."

Hunter gasped and quickly grabbed nearby palisman. "Here uncle." Belos snatched the palisman and snapped it quickly, dripping the green magic into his deep dark eyes.

Hunter could hear his name being called out as he ran from the Owl House.

His own uncle! His uncle lied to him, about everything! The day of unity… all of that was a lie. He really believed that he was doing something good! Alas, he was too naive…too stupid. 

He just turned away his last chance of safety. At least with the Owl Lady he will have a safe place to be with the house demon protecting him. That was if they didn’t betray him like his uncle did.

Where would he go now? 

Hunter could hear Flapjack flying behind him but he didn’t stop. He kept running as far as he could from the Owl House. 

I need a safe place. I need a safe place. 

Hunter ran through the woods before finally stopping to catch his breath. Flapjack slowly fluttered onto Hunter’s lap, tired. “You really didn’t give up on me, huh?” Hunter panted as he took slowed staggering breaths.

Flapjack replied with a happy tired chirp and pecked at his scroll. “My scroll?” Hunter asked in confusion as Flapjack pecked it and hit Willow’s profile. Flapjack turned to Hunter and chirped.

”No! Nonononooooo!” Hunter stammered, “I can’t bother Captain with my problems! I’m sure she already hates me for not going to the Emerald Entails’ games.” Flapjack persistently chirped and pecked at Hunter. 

“Flapjack…. No!” Hunter said but this time more firmly. Flapjack stared at him, stared into his soul. Hunter felt bad, he can’t deal with Flapjack’s adorable puppy eyes. 

“Fineeee I’ll check her house….” Hunter muttered. Hunter looked through his scroll. Willow actually gave him her address, he’s not even sure if it’s the real one. Probably some prank. She just told him to come by one day during his patrol…. perhaps one of her friends got ahold of her scroll and typed it.

Hunter arrived at Willow’s house and paused before knocking. Flapjack pecked Hunter in the arm, either telling him to do it, or telling him to the the titan away from that door. Hunter quickly knocked before he could comprehend what the titan he just did. 

One of Willow’s dads came to answer the door. He had pale skin and glasses. “Who are you?” he asked and Hunter sweated.

“Sir, I’m Caleb and is Willow home?”

He narrowed his eyes, “Caleb? Willow mentioned you…. She’s not here. Willow’s is at Amity’s house for a play date.”

Hunter awkwardly coughed into his hand, “Thanks… umm I’ll get out of your hair... ummm sir?” Willow’s father smiled, “Gilbert Park.” Hunter waved goodbye and quickly ran back to the road.

Gilbert  frowned, “That was strange. Wasn’t Caleb that Golden Guard that Willow told us, Harvey?” Harvey shrugged, “At least she’s making friends.” Gilbert narrowed his eyes, “Yup friends….”

Hunter hurried down the road. There was no way he was going to the Blight mansion. Odalia and Alador Blight work for his uncle Belos. He’ll be killed if he goes back there. Where else would be a safe haven?

”Oh my Titian!” Hunter cried out, “HEXSIDE!” he chuckled like a maniac, “The school’s got to be safe! No coven scouts would be there!” Flapjack chirped in approval.

Everything is weird now.

Hunter was here. In Hexside. But he isn’t trying to recruit students to join the Emperor’s  Coven. He’s just there.

After explaining the Day of Unity to everyone, people panicked. Students had to go into hiding and try to warn their parents. Hunter felt that it was almost his fault. If he had figured out sooner…..

The human wasn’t here. According to Gus, she’s been missing. Had the coven scouts took her away? If he had accepted the Owl Lady’s offer to stay, would he have also been taken away? Or would he be safe with them? Is he even safe here? Will his uncle find him?

He wasn’t too sure, but he wasn’t going to get his uncle hurt his new friends… Are they his friends? He hurt them… did he deserve to be their friend? 

Talking to Gus was easier than he thought. They had bonded while fighting the Illusion coven head. Hunter could understand him, and his troubles. Gus even was teaching him the slang they use around here.

Amity, was well… interesting. The youngest Blight was smart and impulsive. She’s worried about the human. Her girlfriend? Hunter never really understand that word. He spent his entire life serving the Emperor, so he wasn’t really up to date with the social world. He thinks it means a friend… but also not a friend? Family? Someone close to her that happens to be a girl?

Skara and Viney were fun to talk too. Viney helped him heal after the fight. They had a little conversation about curses. She did in fact search it up for him, but couldn’t find the exact curse he described to her. Skara was trying to calm a fellow student down. Skara did teach him how to play a few notes on her instrument.

Captain was… well. Hunter never really talked to her after the fight with the illusion coven leader. He tried to, but she was always busy. 

He decided to try again after a couple of failed attempts. “Captain!” Hunter called out to Willow as she was whispering to a plant.

”Caleb? I mean Hunter?” Willow asked and turned around to see him. She smiled when they made eye contact. “Hey! Thanks for helping us and telling the truth about the Day of Unity.” 

Hunter tried to smile back and failed miserably. “H..hey Captain, ummmm no problem.” He’s not sure why he is stuttering. It was embarrassing.

”Ummm… Hunter ? Wanna help me move these chairs? We need space for people to sleep.” Willow asked, ignoring that fact that Hunter’s face was slowly heating up. Hunter nodded quickly. Hexside was turning into a safe haven for the students during the day of unity. 

Captain Willow was strong no doubt. She was able to move things that are heavy without any problems. Hunter couldn’t help to admire her. He learned through her telling him and through texting that she was always bullied. She was always called half a witch Willow. Now she is able to be herself. It was very admirable. Hunter wonders if he could do this as well.

Could he be someone other than the Emperor’s right hand man, the Golden Guard?

Rain.

The rain isn’t boiling in the human realm.

Hunter, Willow, Luz, Amity and Gus ended up at the door of the human’s home. He still couldn’t think of what happened to his uncle. Did the Collector kill him?

Luz’s mother looked just like her. She looked shock, of course. Either way she allowed them to come in. Things were hard. He could think of what happened to the other witches. Darius, and everyone else! There were plenty of innocents they had left behind…. Even the human’s dog, King. They left behind everyone to face the Collector.

Luz just managed to whisper to her mother what had happened. But it was hard for her. She was crying the entire time, so Amity had to step in. She explained everything. Everything.

Willow nudged Hunter, “You good?” He nodded slowly, “Thanks” he whispered. “For what?” Willow asked, confused. “For saving me back there….”

She smiled. It was pretty.

“It’s not a big deal, Caleb… I mean Hun-“ Willow started and Hunter interrupts her, “Caleb is fine, Captain.” 

“Alright. You saved me before as well. Consider it returning the favor.” Willow grinned. Hunter managed to TRY to smile back. He then turned his attention to Gus who was also crying. “King… my dad….” He muttered. Hunter patted his back. Willow then gasped quickly and also started to tear up. 

“Oh Titian! I left MY DADS! Oh Titian… how did I forget…” she sniffed. Hunter literally didn’t know how to comfort the two. He looked around the place for an answer. A basilisk named Vee waved to him.

“Hey, all of you. I know it’s hard right now, but just rest for now. Me and Camila” Vee gestured towards Luz’s mother, “Can help you guys get back somehow. You’ll miss your family but you’ll see them again.” 

Camlia nodded, “I’m sure all of you are scared, but I assure you that you will be safe here for now. We just need to find a way to hide those ears. This will be your home for now.”

Luz sniffed and wiped her tears, as Amity hugged her, “Home sweet home.”

Hunter groaned as he quickly typed in his scroll. “Do you think the messages sent?” He asked Gus, who was lying on the floor of the human’s living room.

”How do I know?” Gus grumbled, “There’s no way back. I always wanted to go to the human realm but not like this… never like this…”

Hunter poked Gus in the arm, “We'll figure something out, Gus. At least we got a place to say in the meantime.”

”Gus?” Someone called out and then entered the living room. “Oh. Hey Caleb!” Willow smiled awkwardly and waved to him. She was wearing some human clothes and a bandanna was on her head to cover her ears.

”Can you tell I’m a witch?” She nervously asked and Gus shook his head. “Whew!” Willow sighed and sat down next to Hunter and Gus. “So what’s your human costumes?” 

Gus shrugged and buried his head in his lap. Hunter managed a smile to Willow. “Captain, I think I’m just going to wear this thing called a hoodie and pants, plus a head pop.”

Luz snickered as she walked in carrying a tray with drinks. “It’s called HEADPHONES 🎧 and they’re for covering up your pointy ears.” Willow chuckled, and made Hunter blush a bit. How could he mess up in front of the Captain?

They all sat down drinking juice and watching the sun hit the window. “Where’s Amity?” Gus muttered, breaking the silence. Luz paused before replying, “She’s with my mom and Vee preparing lunch.” 

“Cool.”

Silence.

”Guys, I… This…” Luz stuttered, “This is all my fault! If I didn’t follow Eda’s stupid owl to the owl house, I wouldn’t have time traveled and helped Philip!!”

”Luz, you didn’t know that Philip was Belos… neither did I. It’s not your fault.” Hunter muttered.

Willow scooted over to hug Luz.

Luz started to say, “I know but…” Amity cut her off when she walked in, seeing 4 depressed teenagers.

”guys…” her voice crooked, probably because she was thinking about her family, Amity cleared her throat, “Lunch is ready.”

Lunch was over quickly. Camila, Vee and Amity cooked well.

After helping clean up, Camila suggested that they head to the beach!

Gus perked up, “A HUMAN BEACH?” He was finally excited. “Yay!” Willow smiled, “We can test the disguises!” 

Hunter was also a bit excited because he had never been to a beach before. Never in the Boiling Isles. He just never had time. Always working.

It was quite hot when Amity, Luz, Gus, Hunter, Vee and Camila headed into the car. It was very squishy. Camila drove and Vee sat in the seat next to her. There were only 3 seats in the back, and 4 children left. Good thing some of them were quite small. Amity and Luz got all cuddly real quick. They squished together in one seat so the rest could get their own seats.

It was only a 30ish minute drive to the beach. They arrived shortly and everyone jumped out of the car. They found a place where no one else was and hurried over to lay their towels.

“The breeze is quite nice” Hunter noted randomly in the silence. Everyone froze and then Willow started to laugh. “Yup” she giggled, “The wind is nice!” Camila smiled, “Everyone go have some fun! We’ll head back in a couple of hours.

Luz immediately grabbed Amity’s hand and led her towards the ocean. Vee and Gus followed. Hunter awkwardly ruffled his hair. “Ummm Captain? Should we also head to the ocean?”

Willow smiled at him, “Sure Caleb” She nudged him, “Last one there is a rotten egg!”

Willow took off running before Hunter could comprehend what she just said. Hunter quickly tried to run after her as fast as he could.

He lost.

”So am I a rotten egg now? Do I eat one..or?” Hunter nervously asked Willow. She broke out laughing again, “Caleb! It just a saying, you don’t need to eat a rotten egg!” 

“Oh..” Hunter awkwardly laughed, which quickly turned into a gasp, when the cold ocean water touched his bare feet. “ITS COLD!” He screamed and Willow also gasped when she too touched the water. 

Luz, Amity, Gus and Vee were a little bit deeper into the ocean. But not too deep because Hunter was sure most of them couldn’t swim.

Willow gestured Hunter to go towards them. The water was really cold but alas Hunter gave in and followed Willow. 

Willow and Hunter paddled their way though the cold icy water when they figured out what the others were doing. “Hey guys!” Luz grinned, “We’re playing a game! Basically it’s 2 pairs against each other. One will get piggybacked and basically you push each other off. Wanna join?”

Hunter shrugged and Willow nodded. Luz and Amity were paired up, as usual. All that was left is Gus, Vee, Hunter and Willow.

“Who wants to pair up with me?” Gus asked, and they all started to discuss who is going to pair up with who.

”ENOUGH!” Luz screamed, “Vee with Gus, and Willow with Hunter.”

Gus stuttered, “But…”

“No buts! Vee is a nice person… err creature!” Luz snapped. “Let’s start!”

Amity was on Luz’s back, Gus was on Vee’s back and Hunter was on Willow’s back. It was quite fun pushing each other around. 

It’s relaxing to finally have some

peace.

and.

quiet…

Later when everyone got home, Hunter pulled out his scroll to check his messages. Still no response from Darius. Did something happen?

“Hey guys?” Hunter asked Willow and Gus, “Does your scrolls work here?” 

“Caleb, I guess it doesn’t work. I have been trying to reach my dads the entire time.” Willow sighed sadly.

“It doesn’t work for me as well…” Gus muttered.

”Oh… I just thought that it was just me…” 

“Hey guys!!!!!!!!” Luz screamed and hurried in the room, “wanna go eat at a [insert fast food place]?”

”Sure”

Luz, Gus, Vee and Willow went to go order their food. All that was left guarding the tables was Amity and Hunter.

”Soo…” Hunter muttered, trying to think of something they could talk about. Amity glared at him in response, causing him to sweat a little.

“You think you got everyone here thinking your good, but I know the true you.” Amity hissed, “You tried to kill me and threaten my Luz after I offered that we can be friends!”

”Amity, I only did that because I didn’t want to disappoint Emperor Belos…” 

“But you still betrayed him! Who knows, maybe you will betray us like u did with Belos!”

“Amity, I’ll never do that again.”

“Ya right. If you do betray us again, next time I won’t let you win.” 

Amity glared at Hunter again. She also added, “Also you better not hurt Willow.”

Hunter slammed the table angrily, “What does Captain have to do with this!”

Amity rolled her eyes, “We all know you have a crush on Willow!”

“What?” Hunter spat out, “I don’t want to crush Willow!”

”Not crush Willow, idiot. YOU have a CRUSH on Willow. That means you like her.”

”Of course I do. Everyone likes Captain. She’s nice, smart, and strong.”

”Noooo not like that. Like you actually like like her. How I like Luz. Like her like you want to date her. Hello? Did no one teach you this when you were the Golden Guard?”

“So like a special type of like someone?”

”Urgh!! Hunter, do you think Willow is pretty?” Amity asked.

”Of course. Doesn’t everyone? It’s a given fact.”

”No.”

”WHAT?” Hunter slammed the table, “You DONT think Captain is pretty?”

”I do, but not how you think she’s pretty. Not everyone looks at her that way. Only people who have crushes on her look at her that way.”

”huh? So I have a crush on Captain?”

”I’m pretty sure.”

”Amity!” Hunter grabbed her arm and shook her, “What do I do?”

Amity rolled her eyes. One second ago she was threatening him and now she’s helping him with his love life. Willow might be right, this guy was really is misunderstood. But she’ll keep her guard up in case something happens.

“Well now you have to see if your Captain sees you that way. Then you can either stay friends or start dating like me and Luz.”

”Oh…”

Luz, Willow, Gus and Vee walked back to the seats with their junk food. “I heard my name hermosa!” Luz grinned and wiggled her eyebrows, “Were you guys talking about me?”

“No, we were talking about Captain.” Hunter responded before realizing what he just said. His ears turned red really quickly and Amity slapped her forehead.

“What do you mean you guys were talking about me?” Willow asked and Hunter’s face turned into a deep shade of red.

“Oh it was nothing Willow. Hunter was just saying how he-“ Amity started to say and Hunter cut her off quickly.

“W..w..we we’re just talking about how we like your glasses… and your human outfit…” Hunter stuttered, “and…” 

Willow giggled, “Well I’m glad you like my glasses, Caleb. Anyways we got your food.” Willow handed Hunter a tray with a burger and fries on it.

Hunter awkwardly took the tray, ignoring weird looks from Luz, Amity, Gus and Vee.

Willow couldn’t sleep at night. Was that really what Amity and Caleb was talking about? How much they liked my glasses? They were probably talking about something else. Was Amity threatening Caleb? Willow has too much going on in her head. They were all sleeping in the Luz’s room, laying next to each other in sleeping bags.

Luz was the closest to the door, and by her side was Amity, then Willow, followed by Gus then Hunter.

Willow closes her eyes trying to go to sleep when she started to hear voices. She recognized their voices immediately. It was Luz and Hunter.

”Can’t sleep too?” Luz whispered to Hunter. They wiggled out of their sleeping bags and moved a bit farther from the rest of the group who were all sleeping.

“Yup. I keep thinking about what happened during the Day of Unity. Do you think the collector killed my uncle?”

Luz hugged her legs closer to her body, “I don’t know.”

“I’m worried about Gus, Willow and Amity. If we can’t make it back the the Boiling Isles, they will never see their family.”

“And I’ll never see Eda, King, Lilith and Hooty…”

“We will find a way back.”

“Hopefully…”

“I’m worried about Gus the most..” Hunter muttered, “He saw what was going on in the Emperor’s mind. I bet he knows I’m a grimwalker. He must think I’m a monster.”

“Gus is a strong kid. Even if he did know that you are a grimwalker he’ll treat you the same. Repeat after me. You. Are. Not…”

”Not a monster… I know… I’m just scared to how they will all react if I tell them. How Captain will react.”

Luz wiggled her eyebrows, “Captain?” She lightly punched Hunter’s arm, “Do you like her or something.” 

Hunter blushed, “Amity said I want to crush her or something at the fast food place.”

“You mean you have a crush on her.” 

Willow almost gasped out loud, but continued to pretend to be asleep.

“Ya something like that.” 

“Awwwww you guys would be like the cutest couple!”

”Shhhh…” Hunter hissed, “You’re gonna wake them up!”

”Hmmm… I wonder what your ship name would be?”

”What does that mean?”

”Like a couple name. Basically like a combination of 2 or more names. For instance me and Amity’s ship name is Lumity. If let’s say someone named Percy is dating someone named Annabeth, their ship name would be Percabeth.”

”That’s very interesting.” Hunter mumbled fiddling with his fingers.

”Hmm.. Huntlow? Or perhaps Winter?”

”None of that matters. Captain only sees me as a friend.”

”You don’t know that!”

”Anyways if she finds out that I’m a clone of someone who’s dead, she’ll think I’m weird.”

“I know Willow and she’ll never think of you like that. She doesn’t care that I’m a human so she won’t care if you are a grimwalker.” Luz punched him in the arm again, “You will never know unless you try!”

Hunter chuckled awkwardly, “Nah, I don’t wanna ruin our friendship.”

”Say, do you hear someone gasping?”

”Where?”

Willow tried her best to stay quiet, but she couldn’t believe it. HUNTER/CALEB HAS A CRUSH ON HER! She could hear Luz and Hunter’s footsteps getting close to where everyone was sleeping. 

“It was probably just the wind.” Luz muttered.

”Luz, there is no wind in here. We are indoors!”

Luz shrugged, “Let try to get some sleep. It’s almost 3.”

Willow couldn’t sleep at all that night.

How could she? She learned that Caleb or Hunter was a grimwalker… a clone, and he had a crush on her!

After Luz and Hunter conversation she tried her best to just fall asleep. But it was no use.

“Captain?” Hunter asked, as he kneeled next to her sleeping bag, “Are you okay?”

Willow nearly leaped out of her sleeping bag in shock. She nervously chuckled, “Of course, of course Hun- leb? CALEB!” She yawned really loudly. Her ears turned red, “I mean I’m perfectly fine! Totally slept well yesterday!”

Hunter studied her face causing her to feel a bit awkward. “You sure? You don’t look okay.” He then turned around to call for Luz. She hurried over and kneeled down next to Hunter.

”What’s wrong?” She asked. Willow wanted to scream “NOTHING IS WRONG!” But she was too tired to open her mouth.

”Captain doesn’t look to good. Do you think she got one of your human viruses?”

Luz chuckled, “I’m not sure. Hunter why don’t you feel her forehead to see if it’s heating up?”

Hunter blushed and glared at Luz, “Human stop joking around! Captain could be sick!”

Willow squirmed in her sleeping bag, “Guys, I’m perfectly fine!” She yawned again, slowly leaning forward. “Captain!” Hunter cried and touched her shoulder lightly to stop Willow from falling flat on her face.

Willow jumped out of her sleeping bag. “I’m fine! I’m fine! I need to use the bathroom!” She then proceeded to sprint out of Luz’s room.

Hunter turned to look at Luz, “Did I do something wrong? Was I too worried? I know Captain can take care of herself, but she really didn’t look good, so I thought..” 

Luz just smiled, “She just needs some space I guess. Why don’t you make her some coffee? Looks like she didn’t sleep well last night.”

Hunter froze, “She didn’t sleep well?” He grabbed Luz’s shoulders and shook her, “DO YOU THINK SHE OVERHEARD OUR CONVERSATION?”

”HUNTER CHILL!” Luz screamed causing Hunter to release her. 

Amity ran into the room, “SWEET POTATO ARE YOU ALRIGHT?” Luz grinned, “Si hermosa!” Amity ran over to hug Luz, “I heard your screams and I thought something bad happened to you.”

”Aww your such a good girlfriend”

”No you are”

“You’re a better girlfriend”

“No yo-“

”OKAY I GET IT! I’m single and you guys aren’t” Hunter screamed out, “Could you please stop?”

Amity grinned at him, “no.”

”Wow just no? Thanks a lot Blight. I’m going to go make Captain some coffee.” Hunter muttered, standing up and heading to the door.

”Why does Willow need coffee?” Amity asked.

”She looked like she hadn’t slept in a while.” Hunter responded, “Your girlfriend told me that coffee would help her. So I’m going to make her some.”

Amity just stared at him.

”What? Am I doing something wrong?” Hunter nervously asked.

”No…”

”You really like saying no, huh Blight?” Hunter chuckled, before leaving the room.

”See hermosa? New ship that needs to sail!” Luz whispered to Amity. She sighed and leaned on her girlfriend’s shoulder, “I guess I’ll allow it.”

Willow ran as fast as she could into the bathroom and locked herself there. “Whew!” She sighed loudly and sat on the closed toilet. Oh titan, they just won’t let me breathe back there. Willow thought to herself. She had been trying to process what she heard back there, last night, but nothing is PROCESSING! 

Caleb being a grimwalker is okay to process. But Caleb having a CRUSH on me? THATS HARD TO PROCESS! Willow silently yelled out loud (in her mind). She never really had a “crush” crush on someone before. Sure she might have had a friend crush on Amity, but that was wayyyyy back then. Before Amity started to bully her. After that, she just hung out with Gus and Luz and hadn’t thought of that topic anymore.

Did she even like Hunter/Caleb? Sure she likes him, but she wasn’t really sure if she like liked him or if she just likes him as a friend. She never really thought about that before. He is cute, I guess. Willow thought, but that doesn’t really mean anything. Right?

Hunter walked into the kitchen and noticed the basilisk, Vee was there.

“Ummm… hey? Do you know how to make coffee?” Hunter nervously asked, he knew that his uncle liked to study the basilisks.

”Hello Golden Guard.” Vee replied in monotone. She showed him how to make coffee without using much words. Then she started to leave before Hunter said, “wait!” She paused and looked back at him.

“Thank you for teaching me how to make coffee. Also, I would like to apologize for how the Emperor’s Coven treated your kind. It wasn’t right. I know my apology won’t mean much after all the pain that happened to you because of my unc- I mean because of Emperor Belos. I, too was used. I’m… I’m a grimwalker. A copy of someone Belos once knew. He manipulated me to thinking that wild magic was the cause of us losing our family… but I’m sure that was… that was…”

Vee smiled a bit, “Thank you for your apology. I’m sorry for being cold earlier. I was just a bit skeptical of living under the roof of another person from the Emperor’s Coven.”

”Used to be” Hunter corrected, “Back then, I didn’t really know what Belos was doing to the basilisks. I was too naive. Whenever I asked, he would always tell me that the Titan has big plans for them and doesn’t elaborate after that.”

“Sounds like something he would do… Are the other basilisks, still alive?”

”I don’t know much, but I’m sure there are still some basilisks alive and locked in cages. If we can get back to the Boiling Isles, I’ll personally see too it that all of the basilisks are freed.”

”Thank you.” Vee whispered, “That’s nice to hear.”

“Captain?” Hunter called out after Willow left the bathroom.

She started to sweat, “Heyyy… Cal-unter…. I mean Caleb!” 

“I made you some coffee… umm since you seemed tired… Luz said that this will help you stay more awake… umm so here…” Hunter awkwardly handed her the cup.

Willow carefully took the cup, trying her best not to touch his hands. Her pinky lightly brushes Hunter’s hand and he blushed. He quickly put his hands over his ears to hide the blushes that spread.

Willow quickly took a sip of the coffee. “Wow Caleb! This is really good!” Hunter smiled back very awkwardly. It was kind of cute. 

“OMG JUST KISS ALREADY!” Luz screamed for across the room.

Willow nearly spit out her coffee. Willow and Hunter both blushed and screamed out at the same time, “WHAT???!???”

Luz looked at them, “Oh sorry, me and my awesome girlfriend, Amity Blight we’re just watching this show.” She pointed at the TV screen that they were looking at.

Luz smirked, “Why? Did you guys think that I was talking to you guys?” Luz then turned to her girlfriend and they both giggled. 

Hunter clenched his fists. Luz totally did that on purpose. “I’ll kill her,” he muttered to himself. He then gave Willow another awkward smile and then ran towards Luz and Amity. It wasn’t long before Hunter started to chase Luz around the house.

Willow sighed, then finished the coffee. She then went to the kitchen to wash the cup. Why was she all of a sudden thinking that Caleb/Hunter was cute? Sure she likes the tooth gap that he had and his bright red eyes, but she never really thought about those before! WHAT IS GOING ON?

”Clove do you know what’s going on?” Willow muttered to her palisman.

“I got you!!!” Hunter screamed as he grabbed Luz into a hug. Flapjack flew over and started to peck her. She started to squirm around and screamed out loud, “LITTLE RASCAL!!! SWEET POTATO!”

Amity turned Ghost into a staff and flew over to save her girlfriend.

”STAY AWAY FROM MY LUZ!” She warned Hunter as she landed, with purple circles around her hands. Hunter quickly let go of Luz. He knew when he was going to lose. 

“Why did you do that?” He hissed at Luz. Luz just chuckled, “Do what? I was watching a romantic movie with my girlfriend.”

“No, you totally screamed that out loud on purpose!” Hunter argued back.

“Relax okay?” Luz nudged Hunter, “But I did catch Willow blushing when I said that!” Hunter blushed and shoved Luz, “You’re lying! Also even if that’s true it doesn’t mean anything!”

Amity rolled her eyes and then glared at Hunter, “Listen, you can say whatever you are saying but you CANNOT push my Luz!”

”Calm down hermosa!” Luz muttered to Amity and then gave her a peck on the cheek. Amity turned into a tomato. “Also Hunter, could you maybe talk to Gus? He’s just sitting in the backyard.. he hadn’t came in yet to eat breakfast…”

“Okay but this isn’t over human! You better not be planing anything stupid!” Hunter warned and then started to head outside.

“Urgh! Amity we need a new plan!!!! I’m pretty sure Willow somewhat likes Hunter right? And I need my ship to sail!!!” Luz whispered to Amity, “Sweet potato, you should make sure that Willow likes Hunter. Then we can get them together, just how Hooty got us together!!”

Amity raised an eyebrow, “Tunnel of Love?”

“Tunnel of love!”

”Gus?” Hunter asked and sat next to him. “Are you hungry? Do you want me to bring your breakfast up?”

Gus sat up and looked at Hunter, “It’s fine. I’m fine.”

“Alright, but does this kind of have to do with what you saw in my un- I mean in Belos’s head?”

”Maybe.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“I dunno.”

”Does it have anything to do with the word…” Hunter took a deep breath, “grimwalker?”

Gus looked up at him, “So you know?”

Hunter nodded sadly. “Me and Luz learned about it when we went into the Emperor’s mind.”

”Oh… I saw some of Belos’s memories… I saw what he did to the wild witches..  and what he did to Caleb… his own brother…”

“He had a brother?”

”The Caleb guy kind of looks like you.”

”Oh.. so that must be the person I was cloned after. Did Belos kill him?”

Gus nodded, “It was only because he fell in love with a witch.”

Willow wiped the wet cup and placed it in the rack to dry. She looked out of the window and into the backyard. “Is the Gus and Caleb?” She muttered to Clove. Clove buzzed at her, and Willow chuckled. “Should I see what’s going on? Or should I leave them be?”

Clove just buzzed.

“I guess I’ll just make sure they are good. If they don’t want me there I’ll leave.” Willow muttered.

Willow walked into the backyard to see Hunter putting his arm around Gus to comfort him.

Hunter noticed that Willow was staring at them and blushed. He withdrew his arm and nudged Gus. Gus noticed Willow then motioned her to sit next to him. 

“I’m sorry, I probably should have not came out here. I just wanted to make sure you were okay, Gus.” Willow hugged Gus, and he silently cried in her arms.

Gus then told both of them everything he had saw. It wasn’t pretty. They all learned one thing, that Belos is messed up.

”Captain, I told Gus something that I should probably tell you… I’m a…” Hunter started to say, but the stupid word grimwalker just wouldn’t come out of his mouth. “A.. a…”

”He’s a grimwalker.” Gus told Willow, “A clone of a dead person that Belos once knew.” 

“Thanks Gus…” Hunter weakly muttered. He looked down at his shoes. He didn’t want to see the Captain’s reaction.

Willow put her hands on Hunter’s shoulder causing him to blush from the physical contact. “Caleb? Caleb, look at me!” Hunter obeyed. “Listen to me, Caleb or Hunter, whatever you want to be called! I don’t care if you are a grimwalker or a witch or even part human! You are still Hunter. You are still part of my flying derby team! No matter what I’ll still be here for you, regardless of who you are.”

“Willow???” Amity called from inside the house.

Willow got up and brushed the grass off her clothes, “I’ll head in now. Amity probably wants to tell me something. Okay bye!” She left.

Hunter sighed, “Wow Captain is really great.”

Gus chuckled and then teased, “Sounds like you have a crush on her.”

Hunter blushed.

”WAIT? SERIOUSLY?????” Gus screamed and shook him, “You have a crush on Willow????? OH MY TITAN!!!!”

“Willow?” Amity called from inside the house.

”Coming!” Willow cried out as she hurried into the house. Amity was by the door waiting for her.

”There you are!” Amity smiled, “I have something to ask you.”

Willow, breathless, wheezed out, “ya?”

”What do you feel about Hunter?”

”WHAT????”

“What?”

”Was this what you and Luz were planning? Are you trying to get us together?” Willow asked, glaring at Amity.

“Nonononononoo!!! It’s a genuine question that I have. Cause I still got mixed feelings about that dude who took the postal key from me!” Amity quickly tried her best to cover it up.

Yup! She’s totally lying! Willow thought to herself. “I know you’re lying!” She muttered under her breath.

Amity heard that and sighed, “Yes… you’re right! Me and Luz… Luz and I… well… we just needed a healthy distraction for all this Collector and Belos nonsense. And well..” Amity cleared her throat, “I just miss my family, and needed a distraction.” She sniffed and looked down at her feet.

Willow was about to comfort Amity before realizing something, “Are you trying to guilt trip me into telling you if I like Hunter/Caleb or not?”

Amity chuckled and brushed part of her lavender hair behind her pointy ear “You caught me! It’s a bit of both really. I was trying to guilt trip you and this really is a distraction from… home.”

”I understand, Amity. I miss my dads more than ever now! We all need a distraction.”

”Maybe dating Hunter could be a good distraction?” Amity grinned before Willow pushed her (lightly) causing her to lose balance.

“Amity. STOP!” Willow hissed, totally ignoring her slightly red ears. “You should drop that act, it’s not happening!”

”Well my batata thinks otherwise. And so do you. Willow, you’re BEEPING blushing!”

”No I’m not!” Willow protested, running her hands over her face to hide any blushing.

“Willow, let me ask you again. Do you like Hunter or not! If you say no, I’ll leave you alone.”

”NO! I don’t like Caleb.. I mean Hunter!” Willow replied, and her ears were still red.

”Mhmm… darling, you’re still blushing! I’m going to leave you alone, until you tell me the truth!”

”Amityyyyy…” Willow whined.

Amity raised an eyebrow.

”Okay fine! Sometimes I find Hunter cute. But that’s SOMETIMES. And friends can think each other are cute, right?”

“Willow Willow Willow… girl look at me.” Amity ordered and Willow obeyed, “Once you start thinking that a friend is kinda cute, then it will continue. Soon you will think that friend is cute EVERYDAY. And when that friend scoops you up after a grudgby match against your ex friends, you will realize you’re gay… and then..”

”Amity?” Willow asked, “Are you talking about yourself?”

Amity blushed, “Olay, maybe I am. BUT my point is that you have a BEEPING crush on Hunter. Whether you accept it or deny it.”

Willow fidgeted with her hands, “I dunno…”

”If you are worried, don’t be! Luz and I have this all under control!”

”Amity, listen, you don’t need to do this. We are FINE as friends!”

”Your loss.” Amity waved goodbye to Willow and headed back to the living room, whispering “Green light” to Luz. Luz grinned and gave her girlfriend a kiss.

Willow sighed, they totally were going to continue their plan. “I might as well go warn Caleb.. I mean Hunter!”

“Hunter!!” Willow called as she ran into the backyard, to see Gus shaking Hunter. 

Gus noticed her and quickly released Hunter. “Oh heyyyyyyyyy Willow.”

Willow narrowed her eyes, “Why were you shaking Hunter?”

”Because reasons.”

”Reasons?”

“Reasons.”

Hunter managed to squeak out, “Hey Captain!”

“Hey Hunter!”

Hunter looked down at his feet, she stopped calling me Caleb…

Flapjack chirped nearby on his shoulder. Suddenly Hunter realized something. “Wait, why did you tell me to use the name Caleb, Flapjack?”

Willow and Gus were confused because they couldn’t understand Flapjack.

Flapjack chirped.

”So you were THAT Caleb’s…. his…. palisman?”

Flapjack chirped back to confirm.

Hunter chuckled nervously and ran his hands through his hair. “Did you choose me because I’m his clone?”

Flapjack chirped to deny.

Willow and Gus reached out to comfort Hunter.  “Flapjack chose me because I’m the clone. Right? Right?” Hunter frantically asked Willow and Gus, ignoring Flapjack’s chirps.

”Hunter, Flapjack cares about you just like I do. Their not going to care about what you are. We care about you. Your true self.” Willow reassured him. “Do the breathing exercise. It will calm you down.”

Hunter took a deep breath, held it and started to count…

Hunter slowly started to relax. Flapjack landed back on his shoulder to comfort him. “Sorry buddy… just paranoid…”

”Speaking of paranoid, I think Luz and Amity are up to something. They want to get us … together or something…” Willow muttered, slightly embarrassed.

”Oh?” Gus mumbled, raising an eyebrow. He nudged Hunter and started to wave his hands around.

Willow cleared her throat. “If you’re done Gus, I’ll like to talk to Hunter alone.”

Gus nodded, then saluted, lightly punched Hunter’s arm and headed inside.

Hunter blushed, fixing his hair before asking, “They want to get us together?”

Willow nodded, while blushing a bit.

”How do you know this?”

“Amity and I were having this awesome conversation… and she gave it away. They’re going to strike soon. I..” she cleared her throat, “just wanted you to know.”

”Okay thanks..”

Gus ran into the house screaming, “WILLOW AND HUNTER ARE OUTSIDE AND ALONE!!”

Luz and Amity hurried over to Gus.

”Really??” Luz whispered with excitement, she gestured to Amity and Gus to follow her to the window where they have a clear view of the backyard.

”It’s spy time!”

They all huddled around the window and saw Hunter nervously fixing his hair.

”Hehehehehehee!” They all giggled.

Willow was explaining something to Hunter, clearing her throat every once awhile.

”So Gus… wanna be apart of our plan?”

”Yes!!!”

”okay so here’s the plan….”

“Don’t worry Captain! I’ll deal with Luz!” Hunter muttered, “I should have stopped this a while ago.”

Willow nodded, fidgeting with her braids. Did she have a crush on Hunter? She knows he has a crush on her… but…

Luz kicked open the backyard door, causing them both to jump in surprise, “BREAK IT UP LOVEBIRDS!!!”

Both of them blushed and screamed back, “WE’RE NOT LOVEBIRDS!!”

”Awww, you guys are sooo in sync with each other!!”

”That’s it!” Hunter muttered and started to chase Luz around. 

“Hunter, stop!” Willow cried out running after him.

Luz was surprisingly very faster then usual. She sprinted across the street, down the block…

Hunter caught up with her, regardless. He tried to grab Luz’s arm, but it disappeared with a blue poof. 

Willow ran over to see what’s wrong. “Where’s Luz, Hunter?” He turned to look at her, “It was an illusion. Wait, are we in an illusion? Are we still in the backyard?”

”Oh my titans!!! Gus!!” Willow screamed.

”Luz and Amity!!” Hunter muttered back, “so this is the plan?”

Suddenly around them began to change. Willow grabbed Hunter’s hand, causing him to blush a bit and ran towards some voices.

”I can hear them! They are over there!” Willow told Hunter. They hurried over to the area. 

Willow could faintly hear the voices.

”Mom! You’re back!”

”Mija what the heck is going on? I just got here and now my house is covered in an illusion??”

”Mama, relax and keep your voice down!”

”Ay caramba, hija I’M TRYING! I’m just trying to understand WHY you and your friends did this!”

”Mama we just need you to drop us off at a place. It’s no big deal.”

”if I do, will you get rid of this ridiculous illusion!”

”Si mama!”

”Alright get in the car.”

”Wait we are missing 2 people!”

Willow lead Hunter towards the voices. “Do you hear them?”

Hunter nodded, “Are you sure we should go towards the car? What if it’s a trap? What if that conversation was an illusion?”

”Well even if it is an illusion, we have no idea where we are now! This is our only lead to getting out of here.”

”Alright Captain, let do this!” 

Hunter and Willow, hand in hand, ran towards the voices. A hand came out of no where pulling them both into the car.

”Hey guys!” Luz happily said, “We are going to the carnival!”

”WHAT??” Willow and Hunter gasped.

The car doors were locked.

”What? You thought that we would use illusions to get you two together? That’s a stupid plan! Mama, we are all good! You can drive now.”

”Hija, I’ll drive once you get rid of the illusions.”

Luz nodded towards Gus and he snapped his fingers revealing that they were in the garage.

“I just wanted to prank you guys! But now we’re going to have fun in the carnival!”

Amity nodded enthusiastically.

Amity was sitting next to Camila, Gus and Luz were sitting in the back seat.

”How so we know, this isn’t some illusion?” Willow asked.

Luz grabbed her arm and shook it. “No poof!”

Hunter narrowed his eyes and put his hand on Willows shoulder, “I still don’t trust them Captain” he whispered in her ear causing her to blush. 

Luz, Gus and Amity raised an eyebrow.

Willow quickly changed the subject, “Where is Vee?”

”Oh she’s at her friends house.” Camila responded, and started to back out of the garage.

“Wooo!!” Luz grinned, “I’m finally the only child!!!”

”Hija, please.”

”Lo siento mama…”

”Anyways, Luz has been telling me all about this human fall carnival! There’s going to be games, HUMAN BUCKETS, and rides!!! It will be fun!” Gus smiled.

”Yup. Fun…” Willow muttered.

“Okay Luz! I’ll pick you guys up in 2 hours?” Camila asked, tapping her fingers against the driving wheel.

”Relax Mama!! I’ll text you when we need the ride!” Luz assured her.

”I brought an old phone with me, so if you guys split up, you can still find each other. Don’t get lost!!!”

”Gracias Mama!”

“Adios!”

“Alright gang! We have my phone and my mother’s old phone!! We can split up at some point in the carnival!”

Luz grinned, “Hermosa,” Luz winked at Amity, “Stay close to me. You too Gus! And you two…” Luz looked at Hunter and Willow, “Are in charge of the old phone!!!”

”No!” Willow cried out, “There’s no way I’m going around the carnival with him!” Everyone looked at her in shock.

Willow quickly added, while looking at Hunter, “It’s not that I don’t like you. You’re sweet, kind, caring…” She froze, cheeks red. Everyone stared at her, while Hunter was trying to breathe.

”You lost me.” Gus said, deadpanned. Amity and Luz exchanged looks.

“Whatever!” She muttered and snagged the old phone out of Luz’s hands, “Let’s just go!”

”Whatever you say Captain,” Amity teased and  Willow blushed. 

Hunter decided now is a good time to get Hunter.exe up and running. “Come on guys, leave the Captain alone.”

Amity lightly patted Willow’s shoulder, “Sorry” she whispered.

They headed into the carnival.

With only 5 people, they tried their best not to go on rides that had 2 seaters.

The day was fun. Luz got to show them cotton candy, and new games that weren’t on the Boiling Isles.

Hunter smiled, it’s been a while since he showed such emotion. Willow glanced up at him and blushed. The light from the stands hit him in a way that made him shine. Like a goddess descending from heaven.

Luz pointed up ahead at a ride they hadn’t gone to (duh). “Wanna check that ride out?” She asked, hopping up and down, while Amity laughed and kissed Luz’s cheek. 

“Sure!” Willow said, they’ve been taking a break from the rides for a while and she didn’t want to spend the entire time near the stands staring at Hunter.

All of a sudden, Gus grabbed his stomach. “I think I need to use the restroom!” He quickly muttered and hurried towards the nearest one before anyone could react.

”Meet us at the ride when you’re done!” Amity called out and Gus frantically nodded while running.

”I guess it’s just us now…” Hunter awkwardly fiddled with his fingers.

”Don’t worry, this ride was super fun!!” Luz reassured him, “Come on, dude it’s called the SIGHTSEEING MIRROR WORLD!!! Basically it’s a boat ride with mirrors around and… oops I’m spoiling…” Luz quickly grabbed Hunter and Willow’s hand, “It’s really cool, trust me!!”

They nervously followed Luz and Amity towards the ride.

The line was very short compared to the other more popular rides.

”Ummm… Luz?” Willow asked, “Are you sure about this ride? The other ones had a longer wait time because they were good?”

”Relax bestie! It’s because of lunch! Everyone is going to eat, that’s when the line is the shortest!”

Once it was there turn the person in charge of the ride seemed a bit odd. “HelloOoo! I’m Jersey and I’m in charge of this ride!!! The Mirror of… of…” They checked their hand, “THE SIGHTSEEING MIRROR WORLD!! Hop into the boats! Only 2 at a time!!”

“Wait…” Hunter started…

”Only two??” Willow finished in shock.

”Yup only two!!!” Jersey repeated, winking.

“Oh crikey!!” Luz gasped, “I totally forgot!! You guys won’t mind if I sit next to my girlfriend?”

Willow clenched her fists, “What type of plan is this?”

”Its a stupid one!” Hunter added.

”Guys chill, I actually forgot!!!” Luz reassured them, “Don’t worry it isn’t a love ride! It’s a nice ride where friends like to sit next to each other and stare at the mirrors!! … Along with the things on the mirrors!!”

“Alright fine… but I’m not buying that!!” Willow muttered.

Luz and Amity at together in the first boat. The boats were made of a material that seemed like a mirror or glass.

Hunter and Willow sat in the second boat.

Jersey grabbed the mic and yelled, “Stay in the boats at all time!!”

And then the ride started.

As soon as the ride started, there was a big blue poof!!

Amity and Luz were nowhere to be found. The boat that Hunter and Willow were in, turned out to be a regular wooden boat.

”GUS!!” Willow and Hunter screamed at the same time, until they realized how close their faces were. Both of them while blushing leaned away from each other causing the boat to tilt.

“Okay, let’s not do that again!” Willow muttered, while playing with her hair.

”So I guess this was their plan?” Hunter asked looking around the walls surrounding them. This was DEFINITELY a love ride. There were more hearts around the place than Hunter’s scars.

”I guess..” Willow looked around the place, she pulled out Camila’s old phone and texted them:

“They left me on read!” She screamed. The walls were starting to stare at her. She blushed and squirmed around in her seat.

”Could you be nervous Captain?” Hunter asked, looking deeply in her eyes.

She chuckled, “You wish Caleb!”

”Caleb…” Hunter whispered…..

Willow’s eyes widened, “I’m so sorry!! It just came out of my mouth and I…”

Hunter lightly touched her hands, “It’s alright.”

Willow blushed and so did Hunter when he realized what he just did.

Willow cleared her throat think YOU CAN DO THIS!!! “So… you have a crush on me?”

Hunter nearly threw himself off board, while the boat was slowly moving through the cheesy love tunnel.

His face flushed, “I…I… ummm… who told you?”

Willow took a deep breath, “You did… kind of… when you and Luz were having that conversation, I was half asleep and overheard that part…”

Hunter made a squeaking noise and buried his head in his lap.

Willow chuckled and petted him on the back, “Relax Hunter,” She blushed, “I… I don’t mind…”

Hunter lifted his head, “You don’t??”

”I… I guess I like you too… but I didn’t know what to do and then Luz and Amity were trying to get us together and I… I’m really sorry for what I said back there. I really don’t mind being stuck with you… I just really don’t want to deal with my feelings and … sorry…” Willow confessed.

“I… wow… umm” Hunter fiddled with that strand of hair sticking out. “I…” 

The ride was almost over. They started to see the same cheesy wallpaper from the start of the ride.

”Oh wow! Heh, I guess their plan sorta worked.” Willow nervously chuckled while blushing. She quickly kissed him in the cheek as soon as the boat stopped, causing Hunter to stop breathing for a second.

”But I want to take this slow, don’t wanna just randomly jump into a relationship…” Willow grinned, and Hunter started into her green eyes. 

“okay”

”We need to first get home, then I guess, we could go on a date?” Willow asked, as they started to get out of the boat.

Hunter nodded, and quickly punched himself. “Okay ow this isn’t a dream.”

Willow chuckled softly and before they headed out, Willow told Hunter her plan.

Gus, Luz and Amity were waiting for them on the outside of the ride.

”Did ya lovebirds enjoy the ride?” Luz grinned, and quickly winced when Willow pinched her.

”Sorry, just wanted to make sure you are real?” Willow shrugged. 

“So did anything happen?” Amity asked, putting her hands on her hips.

”Nothing happened!” Hunter quickly said.

Gus raised an eyebrow.

”We just sat there awkwardly and stared at the hearts all over the ride.” Willow added.

“There was more hearts than the amount of paper you carry for glyphs!” Hunter noted.

”Really?”

”Yup really.”

”You know we saw you, Willow kissing his cheek. Ya did it at the entrance of the BEEPING ride!!”

They both blushed.

”Operation Love Tunnel is a success!” Luz and Amity cried out at the same time.

”Guys chill, it didn’t really work, we aren’t dating! I was just…” Willow faltered.

”She just did that because she knew you were watching us! We tricked you!!” Hunter tried his best to cover it up.

”Nice try Hunter!”

"It's time to go home Flap."

Everyone went through the colorful portal, and finally saw...

Home.

Or what's left of it.

The collector did their job, to make it unrecognizable. 

Willow looked at Hunter, as everyone gawked at the new Boiling Isles. She couldn't stop her hands from shaking, the thought of losing him.... she couldn't bear it. Feeling his cold body in her hands, scared her... they didn't even go on that date she promised him.

"Hunter?" She managed to call out, the others stared at her, and realized that she only meant for him to look back, only him. The rest of the group slowly started to walk down the hill they were on.

Hunter glanced back, looking at her with his new brown eyes, searching for something he was missing. 

Flapjack.

She awkwardly cleared her throat, "Can... I..." Willow cleared her throat again, and again, and again, but that didn't stop the tears falling down her face. Stay strong Willow! She silently screamed at herself, but she still cried.

Hunter was shocked, frozen in place. 

Willow threw her hands around him and hugged him tightly. "You scared me, Caleb..." she sobbed in his shoulder.

Hunter hugged back, "Sorry Captain..."

Willow withdrew and put her hands on his shoulder, "NO!" she sniffed, "Don't apologize. It wasn't your fault... none of this is." Hunter gave her a pained smile, and he too, broke down in tears.

Hunter sobbed out, "I miss him..." 

"I know. We all do, but now he's a part of you." Willow whispered, pointing at his heart, "He'll always be with you now. Always."

Hunter nodded, wiping his tears from his cheeks. He noticed that Willow's face was still very wet, and very carefully wiped some of the tears off, causing her to blush. "Hunter..." She whispered, "You're a little too close..."

Hunter quickly took a step back, "Sorry Captain...."

Willow managed a smile, "I already told you not to apologize." She gave him another hug, "Don't you DARE think about dying on me again!"

"You too... you don't want to see me mad, Captain." Hunter smirked and squeezed back.

"Hurry up there!" Amity screamed from down the hill, "You can make out after we defeated the collector!"

Willow and Hunter blushed.

"WE ARE NOT MAKING OUT AMITY BLIGHT!!!" Willow screamed back.

Hunter fumbled out of the Owl House on the fateful day.

The date day.

Luz, Eda and King managed to make him somewhat look presentable. He wore a white shirt with a denim jacket, where he patched all sort of things he liked. He had a Flapjack patch, stitched over his heart, so Flap will be with him forever. He threw on some leather jeans.

Eda grinned at him, right before he left. "Golden boy, where are you taking her?"

Hunter played with his wolf cut, "This old place, I used to visit regularly back when I was... the Golden Guard."

"What's it called? What's it called?" Luz and King chanted.

"It's called Snack n Sing."

"Where?" Luz asked, and Eda chuckled.

"Snack n Sing! My favorite place ever! Back when I still had my magic, I used to play there. Boy did I attract lots of people. I guess that's one flaw from being so hot..." Eda sighed.

"EDA!" Luz, King, and Hunter screamed at the same time.

"Relax, kids." Eda smiled, and turned towards Hunter, "The Golden Guard visits there regularly?"

Hunter blushed, "Well they had nice griffin eggs and fairy pies", his face got a little more serious, "Well since in Snack n Sing, anyone can sing for the customers... even the customers can sing something for the crowed if they wanted to while others were eating... umm....there were a lot of wild witches, who sang of the past... and bad things about the emperor, so I had many frequent visits there."

Eda sighed, "I remember those days, I was nearly caught once because of you, kid!" Eda ruffled Hunter's hair, "But that's in the past. Are you sure you can get into this restaurant?"

"Hey... stop Eda!" Hunter fixed his hair, "I never took off my mask there, so it should be fine. I'm just bringing Captain there because of the food."

"Awwwwww...." Luz and King cooed, and Hunter rolled his eyes.

He checked his watch, "Shoot, I gotta go now!"

Willow checked what she looked like in front of the mirror. "Are you sure this dress is okay?" She nervously asked, while twirling around.

"YES!" Amity smiled, "You look really pretty."

"Really?"

"Yes!"

"Do you think.... he would like it?"

"Girl, that boy doesn't care what you wear. Cause he..."

"Amity, pls..."

"LOVES youuuuuu!!!!!"

"AMITY!" Willow cried out, face turning red.

"Just relax, you look fine."

"Okay..." Willow took a deep breath and checked out her reflection once more. She was wearing a green floral dress, with black short boots.

Ding Dong.

Willow nearly jumped out of her dress in shock, "Amity, who is that?"

Amity rolled her eyes for the second time in this chapter, "Who ELSE? It's HUNTER!"

Willow gasped, "Hunter??? As in Hunter Hunter??"

Amity nearly rolled her eyes for the third time, "OF COURSE! Go down and meet him!"

Willow, "Are you sure? It could be the mailman?"

"That's from the human realm, Willow. Go get your man!" Amity lightly nudged her towards the door.

"Are you sure?" Willow asked again.

"Girl, do you want your dads to find him first?"

"OH SHOOT!" Willow gasped and ran out the room.

"Ah, young love." Amity sighed, "Reminds me of when me and Luz started dating."

Hunter nervously pressed the doorbell, and a pale man with glasses opened the door.

"I believed we met before..."

"Hunter... the name is Hunter" Hunter nervously answered.

"Great, Hunter, and I'm Gilbert, one of Willow's dads."

Hunter didn't know what to say and nodded.

"And I'm Harvey!!" the darker man responded. "I believe that you are dating my daughter, Willow," Harvey narrowed his eyes.

"Yes sir." Hunter gulped

"Our daughter, honey" Gilbert added.

"You better bring her home by 10! Or you'll wish you were..."

"DADS!" Willow screamed, while running down the stairs, "Don't scare..." Willow stared at Hunter's fit. She flushed bright red, "You look good."

Hunter blushed as well, "So do you..."

Gilbert smiled, "Well off you two go! Come home by 10, will you?"

Harvey raised an eyebrow.

"Yes sir."

Willow nudged Hunter, "Of course dads. See you tonight!"

"Soo.... where are we going?" Willow asked, awkwardly walking beside Hunter.

"Snack n Sing. Have you ever heard about it, Captain?"

"No, not really. My dads always told me not to go there because of the emperor scouts.... I mean..." Willow froze, they can't be talking about those things, right? Hunter was a scout before. Heck, he was the emperor's right-hand man!

"Sorry about that. The griffin eggs and fairy pies there are really good! Plus, there is free entertainment!"

"Yes! I can't wait!" Willow smiled at him.

They were seated towards the side of the restaurant. People were coming onto the stage to sing and returning back to their seats.

In the background, someone was singing,

Willow smiled, "This place is great! Thanks for bringing me here, Hunter. I love this song..."

"I'm glad you like it... you look really pretty today..." Hunter blushed.

Willow flabbergasted stared at him.

Unfamiliar...

The song was finished, and everyone clapped, while Willow just stared at him.

Hunter stared at her, opening his mouth to apologize for making her uncomfortable, when the waitress came.

"What would you like to order? We have griffin eggs, hot off the stove! Also, fairy pies...." She started,

"Griffin eggs for me!" Hunter quickly said.

"I'll have a fairy pie." Willow added.

The waitress left.

"Willow..." Hunter started, and then froze, was that the first time he said her name?

"It's okay Hunter! I'm..." she blushed, "just not used to compliments."

"Why not? You're pretty?"

Willow blushed again.

"People are blind..." Hunter muttered under his breath, and someone else walked onto the stage and started to sing...

The pink puffy fluffy clouds

"You look handsome today..." Willow whispered to him, while some loudly sang in the background.

Hunter blushed and looked at her, "Really?"

She giggled, "Of course!"

Sometimes there are no clouds,

Clear skies, plain and boring.

Sometimes there are no cotton candy

Ready to eat.

Sometimes there is nothing at all.

No clouds, no cotton candy, nothing.

Plain nothing.

But the nothing turns into a something

The waitress came back. "Here are your griffin eggs, sir." She placed a plate of the eggs in front of Hunter. "And your fairy pie, ma'am. Let me know if you have any questions at all. Feel free to go on stage and sing something for us!"

"Thank you!" Willow and Hunter said.

"Do you sing?" Hunter asked Willow.

"Only sometimes to my plants."

"I bet you sing good."

"Naw... Do you sing?"

"I did... I guess... I sometimes sing to Flap...."

"Oh.... Well, you can sing now if you want! That person is done with their cloud song."

"Only after your plant song."

"Hunter..."

They were too late, because a short man, with a fake looking beard walked on stage.

"Hello everyone!" He shouted, "I wrote this song last night and I wanna share with y'all!"

He cleared his throat,

Willow and Hunter looked at each other in confusion. This man can't sing.

People muttered around the whole restaurant. Even the workers were whispering. Hopefully they'll throw this man out.

Dark and tainted.

Hunter held his breath. Please don't talk about the trees in hell in front of Willow. Not on our date. Not on our date....

BURNED DOWN,

Or heck, they were chopped,

Willow gripped on her fork with anger. "Who is this guy?"

Hunter reached for her hand to calm her down. "Willow... Ignore that guy, let's just eat."

Willow sighed, "I'll have a talk with that man afterwards."

They ate in silence, while listening to that terrible music. The workers managed to drag the short man off the stage. The food was good, but this date wasn't going according to Hunter's plan.

Willow stood up, "Sorry Hunter, I just really need to talk to that man." 

She started walking towards the man as he was getting dragged off the stage.

"Willow--" Hunter started, and quickly followed her.

"HEY!" Willow called out, "You with the beard!" She ran and grabbed his short arms, accidently ripping off the beard.

The beard fell off revealing....

"TIBBLES?" Willow gasped in shock, "I thought you were arrested?"

Tibbles glared at her, "No... no... Ever since my shack was destroyed by you and your friends, I'm broke. People are figuring out my scams, so I figured I'll make a living with singing."

"Tibbles, no offense but you should choose another hobby," Willow sighed, "And keep plants out of it!"

Hunter hurried over to Willow, "Is everything alright?"

"Yes, it was just Tibbles." Willow rolled her eyes, "Let's go finish eating."

"Tibbles?" Hunter asked, "Who's that?"

"I guess that's what we'll talk about over food! Boy, I'm starving."

This date didn't turn out how Hunter wanted it to. They did go to Snack n Sing. But it was ruined by a man called Tibbes??? Life doesn't make sense anymore.

"Sorry, this date turned out wack, Captain."

"Don't say sorry, Hunter. I had a great time!" Willow smiled at him. 

She kissed his cheek, causing him to blush and lightly tapped his nose with her finger. "Boop!" She said, and then froze. WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS SHE DOING??? That was something she only did with her plants. Hunter blushed harder now but realized that Willow was embarrassed. 

He booped her nose back, "Now we are even!"

"...no we aren't." Willow whispered.

"Huh?"

"You didn't kiss me." Willow muttered, blushing like crazy.

"Oh... umm..." Hunter quickly kissed her cheek. 

Willow smiled while on her tippy toes and kissed his nose.

Hunter returned the kiss on her nose. "Now we are even" He whispered.

Willow took a deep breath, Come on Come on. She jumped up to peck him on the mouth. 

Hunter gasped, taking a step back. Shoot what does he do now?

He awkwardly took a step forward and kissed her on the mouth.

"Now we REALLY are even." He whispered, and Willow blushed.

"I guess we are."

"We should leave." Hunter muttered.

They were standing in front of the Snack n Sing entrance.

A crowd of (huntlow/winter haters) were glaring at them. "MAKE OUT SOMEWHERE ELSE!"

"Time to go!"

Willow gazed at Hunter, "Yes, time to go."
