Chapter Text
Midnight had fallen and the tide was picking up.
Aether lay on the moist sand, the saline water from the ocean brushing his bare feet. His hair was loose and golden locks scattered all over the seaside.
Paimon was sound asleep beside him. He gave her his cape as a blanket when she fell asleep.
It had been years, centuries, since Aether shut his eyes without a worry in the world.
He stretched his arms and got up to take a walk in the dead of the night.
The time was 00:00, on the 17th of April.
He had just heard a chirp, when a letter formed itself on the palm of his hand. The letter was packed along with a Sweet Dream and five shining Starconches with lucent patterns surrounding each one.
Aether opened the letter and began to read it, taking one last look at the misty moon that adorned the night sky.
.
.
.
“...The wrath of the evil spirits, omens of calamity… and your voice . That’s all I need to hear.”
His reading came to a pause.
He picked up a conch and put it to his lips, wetting them before blowing into the opening of it.
“Xi..ao”
Swish
Aether buckled his knees , his eyes widening at the sight before him. There stood the Yaksha himself, in all his glory. He seemed to have a relaxed expression as he stood facing the Traveller, crossing his arms to his chest. He maintained his stark gaze on the blond before he briefly flickered out of Aether’s sight.
Aether folded his legs to brace his fall as he tripped back. He was caught as Xiao appeared behind him, releasing the conch from Aethers fingers.
He pressed the conch to the cheek of the surprised one and brought his lips close to the other’s ear.
His voice was as soft as breathing itself.
“The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?”
