If he could feel , Jason thinks that he would feel bad. Guilty.
His dad cries every time he comes to visit him. It's kind of depressing.
If he could talk, Jason would like to say: “That’s enough, you big crybaby. You’re making me feel bad. ”
But he wouldn’t say that. Jason thinks that, if he could touch , he would like to hug his dad, super tight, and say: “Hey, cry as much as you want. But everything is gonna be alright, ‘kay? Don’t worry .”
But he can’t feel .
He can’t talk.
He can’t touch.
Not anymore.
The only thing he can do is watch. Watch his dad come to visit him. Watch the tears running down his dad’s face. Watch his dad go away.
Watch. Again and again and again.
And Jason can’t feel , but if he could, he would feel so sad that it’d be inevitable to start crying.
Jason can’t talk, but if he could, he would ask with a cracking voice: “ Dad? Can you hug me, please? ”
He can’t touch, or feel other people’s touch, but if he could, God, if he could , his dad would hug him. A warm hug, full of safety and feelings his current self can’t feel anymore.
But, again, Jason can’t do these things. Just watch, and imagine what he could do if he was still alive.
