Work Text:

Izuku stared at his screen, the essay half-written and the plan immaculate. He had started it yesterday, much to Kacchan’s chagrin – who had completed the plan the day it was set and finished it by the weekend.

Izuku liked to live on the edge, so all-nighters were all the rage in his angry little brain. Even if he hated himself for doing it the night before, he was still incredibly proud of his progress.

“How far done are you? I wanna go to sleep, but if you don’t finish this essay, I’m killing you and everyone else in the room in training.” He paused for a few seconds before clarifying, “I don’t fucking mean that literally – ears, tentacles if you are listening, I don’t fucking mean that literally don’t snitch – I mean I will annihilate you in training. Again I don’t mean that fucking literally. So fucking hurry up.”

“Yeah, I’m getting there, Kacchan, just thinking about what we did in class today.”

He was thinking about some of the moves that Aizawa sensei had been pulling in their training that day.

“Well, hurry up with your essay, you giant nerd - who also is stupid and IS LEAVING THIS TO THE LAST MINUTE. We wouldn't be here if you hadn’t left this till the last possible moment. Look at candy cane here – practically drooling.” Todoroki was not, Izuku noticed, nearly drooling. He watched his phone intently – eyes washed in the blue of his phone screen and totally engrossed by what he was looking at.

His finger rested lightly on the keyboard as he went through his mental notebook. Eyes unfocused on the writing in front of him, he failed to notice when his idle tapping on the keys and his idle thoughts turned his essay into something else.

Something he was not allowed to do.

It was amazing to watch Aizawa in his natural habitat - scaring the shit of people as he jumps on people from above. Ambushing students who are aware of his personality and hero style, yet not powerful or trained enough to fight against it very well.

Izuku himself, having stood back until the last moment he possibly could, watched the display in wonder. Even managing a few bits of on-site and verbal analysis helped stave his friends or classmates off the pain. Even if for a few seconds.

It was a good session, even if the disappointed sigh from Aizawa at the end when he went to face Izuku, and the unfortunate nickname the pro hero had come up with for him, was worth it. Watching Kacchan, despite his apologies, despite him trying to be better – and he was, he was so much better that there was such a balloon of pride building in Izuku whenever he looked at him – it still felt very satisfying to watch him get beaten by his arrogance.

Watching Aizawa-sensei take his quirk away and then slam him into the wall was very cathartic.

Even if Izuku followed him a couple of seconds later.

Aizawa sensei’s moves were an impressive mixture of several martial arts types, with apparent gaps where he would use his capture scarf, or the knife in his boot, to significant effect - but they were small enough that there was no gap in his form for anyone to take advantage of. His movements were exact, and he obviously had a background in some type of gymnastics.

Izuku failed to notice that, as well as his mouth moving and tiny bits of muttering breaking through now and then, most of his analysis out thinking was outsourcing to his typing, which wouldn’t have been an issue if his fingers weren’t resting on the keys. Bakugou heard the soft tapping, saw the glazed look in Izuku's eyes and decided that karma was a bitch for someone who did an essay this late and wouldn't even properly focus on his work.

However, said gaps, where the weapons were used, seemed to be born of Aizawa being too reliant on said weapons. Again not enough for someone of their calibre - even of many very well trained fighters' calibre - to take advantage of. This could be seen in his fight with Tomura and the opening he left when his elbow was injured. Same with gymnastics, Izuku had noticed that several of the styles were not fully stretched or flexed. This kind of reliance on his weapons and body was a strength and also a weakness. A large crowd of villains in close quarters would be able to negate both aspects of his strengths. Izuku leaned toward the screen, checking his information before continuing. The tight alleys would prevent his capture scarf and knife, as well as his ability to kick and hit and -

A sad, robotic, and familiar noise broke Izuku out of his muttering thoughts. Looking down at his laptop screen, he – as well as his laptop screen – bluescreened. With matching sad faces, Izuku watched as his whole essay and his plan – which he had not transcribed because he was not allowed to fucking write anything – disappear into the void of the dustbin of his laptop. Never to be seen again.

As well as his progress on several fanfictions which he had open on tab, several essays and pieces of homework. As well as his progress in several games.

And his Minecraft world.

His fucking castle.

His dog.

Izuku stared at his screen for a few seconds. Katsuki, who was lounging on his bed next to Todoroki, turned to Izuku at the noise, and the face he was making had taken out his hearing aids. Ignoring the questioning looks from Todoroki next to him on the bed and Uraraka and Iida, who were working on the floor.

And who had missed both his face and the laptop screen.

They were quickly made aware of the very sharp intake of breath from Izuku before his mouth opened without his permission.

Aizawa smirked at the scream he heard from the common room. The notification that the problem child's analysis shutdown programme had been activated had flashed on his screen a few seconds ago.

“Midoriya?” he gestured at his desk when said boy tried to leave the classroom at high speeds, “Problem child, where is your homework? You do know the essay was due today, correct? I do remember telling you yesterday that it was due.”

The boy stood there fiddling with his bag strap.

“I lost it.” He said simply. “I can do it for tomorrow. I will have it finished by tomorrow.”

His face tucked into his scarf, Aizawa smiled a small little vindictive smile. “How did you lose it? You can only do it on your laptop. Did you lose that, or perhaps?”

Catching onto the petty tone in his teacher's voice, Izuku sighed, wining at him as he tried to explain himself. Aizawa had already decided that he would give Izuku the extension; he just wanted to know why his laptop was wiped. The kid had been very proud of his Minecraft world recently. It was also probably gone too.

“Sensei, this is not a joke. I lost my Minecraft world. Do you know how much and how long I have worked in that world? I lost my dog, and I nearly had all the cats. Sensei, I had a cat called Eraserhead!”

Notes:

outtake

Jirou: Sensei, Midoriya is screaming, do you think he is alright,
Aizawa: he's fine, he just lost his minecraft dog.
Kaminari: how do you know?
Aizawa *creepy smug smile as screaming cuts off*

This is pure crack that I just wanted to experiment with .
