Jinafire Long was staring at Skelita Calaveras, trying to figure out what to give the ghoul. “You’re staring at her really hard, Jina.” Clawdeen alerted Jinafire and when she watched the dragon blush, Clawdeen wondered what the dragon was thinking about. “What’s going on, Jinafire? Skelita says she feels a shift in you two’s friendship?” Clawdeen asked and Jinafire bit her lip. She noticed that something was off. She thought, frowning.
“I…want to court her.” Jinafire revealed to Clawdeen and unknowingly, Skelita had heard them. Jinafire picked her mate? Skelita didn’t mean to pry but she couldn’t move away now. She was already in the hallway that was closest to them and she didn’t want to walk by them and interrupt them. Who did she pick? She wondered as she tried to not focus on the conversation, knowing that it wasn’t her business but the more she listened, the more she hoped the two girls were talking about her.
“That’s great, Jina! You two did get closer after meeting in Scaris.” Clawdeen figured out that the two ghouls had crushes on each other because of how they acted around each other. Jinafire wanted to impress Skelita while Skelita had turned back into being shy around the dragon.
“I know she likes me.” Skelita wanted to scream when she heard that. She already knew! She couldn’t believe it. “But what if we’re not meant to be?” Jinafire asked Clawdeen and the werewolf ghoul smiled at her friend.
“You two are two peas in the pod and I know you two can make things work.” Clawdeen tells her and she looked up to see Skelita stuck as she couldn’t go anywhere because she would either interrupt them or walk by them. Poor thing. Clawdeen thought as she told Skelita to come closer. “It’s okay, Skelita. You couldn’t go anywhere.” She noticed the look on Skelita’s face as the ghoul was staring down at her feet. I didn’t mean to listen to their conversation. She thought, continuing to look down at her feet, too afraid to face them.
Jinafire was blushing, unable to believe that the love of her life was standing in front of her right now and she had no courting gift. But when Jinafire realized it, she did have a courting gift. She just needed to give it to Skelita. It was a necklace that had a J on it and she blushed as she held it out to Skelita.
When Skelita noticed the necklace, she shyly reached out for it, knowing that Jinafire wanted to give her something. “Courting gift?” Skelita asked and Jinafire nodded her head. Skelita smiled another shy smile as she placed the necklace around her neck. Jinafire noticed that the shorter ghoul was wearing the necklace and her face burned, enjoying that Skelita had something of hers in her possession.
“That’s was quick and easy.” Clawdeen said as she congratulated the two. Jinafire and Skelita stared after Clawdeen as she walked away.
“Did she just…?” Skelita couldn’t finish her question as she felt so embarrassed.
“She just set us up.” Jinafire finished Skelita’s thought as they both turned towards each other. “Oh well, it all worked out in the end.” Skelita looked up at the ghoul as Jinafire gently kissed her on the lips.
Skelita melted into the kiss, smiling as she felt Jinafire’s hand cup her cheek.
