Choose Your Words Carefully

Summary:

Meimi says something that is very much taken out of context.

Work Text:

Meimi didn’t mean her words like that. Dear God, she would never say that Seira wouldn’t be able to get married when she was older. She didn’t mean it like that. She would never want to hurt Seira like that. Stupid! Why did I say that? I was only referring to her status as a nun and yet, the way I worded it was so cruel. Meimi hated that she worded things differently than what she intended for her words to mean. “Seira would try on the wedding dress since she won’t ever have the chance to be married? Why the fuck did I say it like that? I was trying to say that she was a nun and thus, would not want to get married.” Meimi cursed at herself, unable to believe her own tongue sometimes.

And worse, Seira took her words to heart. “Fuck.” Meimi balled up her hands, unable to believe herself. I made her so upset. Meimi frowned, hating that her words came out so cruelly even though she didn’t mean her words like that. She knew that Seira knew what she actually meant but Meimi’s tone was so bitter that the girl didn’t blame Seira for taking her words so hard.

“Meimi?” Eimi, her mother approached her, hearing her daughter’s angry rants to herself.

“I hurt her. I didn’t mean it. I want her…” Meimi whimpered and Eimi’s eyes widened at the confession. “I want to marry Seira one day and I can’t. I was only saying that she was a nun. I never meant to imply she wouldn’t find someone. I would never say that.” Meimi didn’t realize that she was crying until her mother was holding her.

“I know, Meimi.” Eimi hugged Meimi until the girl’s crying slowed. “Next time, please choose your words carefully.” Meimi nodded her head, making sure to keep her mother’s words locked inside of her brain.

“I will…” Meimi said, rubbing her eyes. I need to talk to Seira. She thought.

Seira didn’t know how long it’s been since she had been laying on her bed. Seira doesn’t even remember if she had cried but judging from the tearstains on her pillowcase, she had been crying a lot. Why am I so upset? I knew what Mei-chan meant! Seira wondered to herself as she finally forced herself to turn towards her door. “I’m so sorry.” Meimi’s apology was loud as she cracked Seira’s door.

Seira turned towards Meimi, blinking as she forced herself to stare at Meimi. “Mei-chan…” Seira started.

“God, I love you. I don’t know why I didn’t just start off with that.” Meimi confessed to Seira and the girl’s eyes widened as the last tears of sadness fell down her face. “What I meant to say was that I want to marry you one day but you’re a nun.” Meimi worded her words carefully this time around.

Seira gave her a gentle laugh. “You know I don’t have to be a nun forever, Mei-chan.” Seira gently reminded Meimi.

“But it was your dream to be a nun…” Meimi said.

“I dream about being with you more often.” Seira’s cheeks turned a rosy red when she admitted her feelings and when Meimi’s face turned bright red, Seira was glad that she wasn’t alone in blushing.

“Cute girl…” Meimi murmured before she gently kissed Seira on her lips. Seira kissed back as they shared a chaste kiss.
