Chapter Text
The video starts on the face of a man wearing blackout shades, his face narrow and thin, snow white hair standing on his head.
“Hi everyone, welcome back to the sa-shi-su youtube channel! My name is Gojo Satoru and TODAY-”
“Oh my god , can you not do this every time? It’s so obnoxious.” A woman’s voice interrupts the intro, sounding slightly distant.
“C’mon Shoko, can we really call ourselves youtubers if we don’t have loud in-your-face intros?”
“Stop trying to find excuses to be annoying,” another voice, this time male, calls.
The man on screen, Satoru, pouts. “You guys are so mean to me!”
“You deserve it,” the other man says, and the video shows a technical difficulties screen.
When it cuts back, there are two men and a woman sitting on a blue-carpeted floor in a semicircle of sorts. There’s a bottle of alcohol in the middle, three piles of cards, three shot glasses, a piece of paper and a pen.
The man with long black hair raises a hand, giving the camera a smile. “Hi, my name is Getou Suguru, if you weren’t aware. This,” he says, gesturing to the woman with deep bags under her eyes, “is Ieiri Shoko, and this,” he moves his hand so that it gestures to the white haired boy from earlier, “is Gojo Satoru.”
“Today, we’re doing the truth or drink challenge! At the end, whoever drinks the most has to do a dare!” Satoru cheers, picking up a card from his pile and waving it around. “Utahime picked out some questions that you guys sent us and printed them for us because she loves us so much-”
“You literally blackmailed her,” Shoko interrupts wryly.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Suguru rolls his eyes as Satoru gives the camera an innocent grin.
“Anyways, question one!”
Satoru looks at the card he’d been waving around and frowns. “If it’s not directed at anyone, I get to pick who to ask, right?”
“Mhm.”
“‘Kay. Then, Suguru, what’s your favorite sex position?”
Suguru sputters, his cheeks turning a bright red as Shoko and Satoru dissolve into laughter.
And so the video goes.
10 minutes in, Satoru has a flush on his cheeks and a hazy look in his eyes. He’s somehow moved over to Suguru and is leaning his full weight on the other man, stuck to his side like he’s trying to merge them together.
“Shoko, how many people have you dated,” Suguru asks, ignoring the way his own cheeks and ears are dusted pink.
“One. And I will only ever date one,” Shoko responds, a soft little smile on her face.
“Shokooo, stop shoving your happy loving relationship in m’ face. It’s so unfairrr. ’m totally prettier than you ‘r and I’m still single, ” Satoru whines, shoving his head into the crook of Suguru’s neck.
Shoko chucks a pillow at Satoru, which is easily batted away by Suguru.
“You wouldn’t be single if you actually-”
“LALALALALALA can’t hear you,” Satoru says loudly, making the man next to him wince.
Shoko just shakes her head, sighs, and picks up another card, lips quirking up as she reads it. Suguru gulps nervously.
“Satoru,” she starts, deceptively innocent-sounding, “Who’s the prettiest person in the room?”
“‘S easy! ‘Guru, duh,” Satoru answers without a moment of hesitation. The pink on Suguru’s cheeks deepens to a pretty sakura color, one of his hands coming up in a poor attempt to hide his blush.
The arm that Satoru is leaning on stays in place.
Shoko snickers as Suguru tries to pull the shreds of his composure back together. Finally, he clears his throat.
“I thought for sure you’d say yourself,” Suguru responds, voice incriminatingly high.
“‘Course not. You’re like. Sooooo pretty. Way prettier than me!” Satoru responds, face still half hidden by Suguru’s shoulder. A strangled, broken noise escapes Suguru as the slightly faded blush comes back full force.
“Maybe we should stop, Satoru seems like, really drunk-” Suguru says frantically, concern clear in his voice.
“Let’s go one more round, you and Satoru are tied right now.”
“Ugh, just ask me a question.”
“It’s Satoru’s turn.”
“Satoru,” Suguru says, gently nudging him.
“Mm.”
“It’s your turn to ask a question.”
“Don’ wanna read.”
Suguru sighs fondy, letting Satoru go back to his rest. He picks up a card from Satoru’s pile.
“Do you have any tattoos?”
It’s an easy question; not nearly embarrassing enough to warrant drinking instead. And yet, Suguru pours himself a shot and downs it, face twisting up momentarily.
Shoko rolls her eyes. “Ugh, and you complain about me being disgustingly in love.”
“Shoko, cut that out,” Suguru hisses.
Shoko smiles lazily. “I don’t think I will.”
She ignores Suguru’s protests as she continues. “Anyway, Suguru lost ‘cuz he’s smitten. What else is new. Time for a dare.”
The video cuts and returns to them in exactly the same positions, except Satoru’s head is raised and his arms are twined around Suguru’s.
“So, we brainstromed!” Satoru says excitedly.
“First of all, it’s brainstormed, and second of all, I brainstormed. You sat there and made moony eyes at Suguru,” Shoko says, tone bored as always.
“Cruel! Shoko is so cruel! ‘Guru, defend me!”
“She’s not exactly wrong if you ignore the whole ‘moony-eyes’ part.”
“‘s this what betrayal feels like?” Satoru asks in his typical overdramatic fashion, words still slurred by the alcohol in his system.
Shoko ignores him. “The dare is that-”
“Suguru has to propose to a stranger! Which is gonna be real funny ‘cuz ‘Guru is like, the politest person ever until you dig out his mean side. His mean side’s fun, ” Satoru giggles, sticking his tongue out when Shoko glares at him for the interruption.
“I’m going to fucking hate this,” Suguru groans, and the video cuts again.
-------------
The camera is pointed at a deep blue box lined with velvet. A ring pop sits in the place a regular ring might.
“Okay, so I just bought the ring pop. Shoko and Satoru are over there,” the video pans over to show the pair sitting on a bench together, mirth on their faces, a camera held in Shoko’s hand.
Suguru moves the camera again so that it’s pointing to the street where a few people mill, families and groups of friends and couples all going about their days. The sky is dark, the last crimson-purple rays of sunlight beginning to fade away.
The camera zooms in on a dark-haired man that looks to be in his mid twenties sitting underneath a tree, tapping away on his phone.
“That’s who I have to propose to,” Suguru says, a tinge of anxiety in his tone. The camera shakes as Suguru presumably puts his phone in his shirt pocket, the perspective lowering a bit.
“Wish me luck.”
The video cuts again to a full view of Suguru approaching the man.
Muffled giggles can be heard as Suguru gets down on one knee in front of the man, who has yet to glance his way.
“I’ve loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you, twenty seconds ago!” Suguru declares loudly, holding the box up to the now very startled looking man. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you and your… nice shirts! Please, marry me!”
The man stares at Suguru. Suguru stares back, poker-faced. Suddenly, Satoru is running into frame, eyes wide, lips puckered in a pout. There is a ring pop on his ring finger. Dramatic music begins to play in the video.
“Suguru, my dearest,” he wails, turning every head that wasn’t already turned, “How could you do this to me?! I thought I was your one and only!”
Satoru sniffs exaggeratedly, wiping a non-existent tear from the corner of his eye.
“No, Satoru, babe, It’s not what it looks like!” Suguru says, playing along.
“We’re done! I hope you never find anyone with better shirts than me!”
The two of them stare at each other for a long moment, Satoru in fake-sadness and Suguru in fake-panic, until they can’t hold it in any longer and burst out into giggles. Shoko’s laughter shakes the camera. The victim of their prank looks completely lost.
