Work Text:
Marc really liked complimenting Nathaniel.
"Aww, babe, you're so cute."
It just so happened that 'cute' was one that he used often.
It never really made sense to Nathaniel. After all, that word wasn't used much in relation to him. It suited someone like Marc far more.
Like sure, red hair and blue eyes is pretty rare, but nobody actually cared about that, so it couldn't be that. Plus everyone always made fun of his fashion choices, including his boyfriend, although Nathaniel knows it's all friendly teasing in the end.
He couldn't figure out the thought process behind it. There's really nothing cute about him at all. Eventually, the curiosity built up enough for him to ask Marc about it.
"Why wouldn't I say that? It's super obvious."
Nathaniel rolled his eyes, "Mhm, sure. Look me straight in the eyes and tell me that my appearance is cute again."
Marc giggled a little, "Appearance? It's much more than that, you know."
Nathaniel peered up at him, "What else could it be?"
Instead of a proper response, Marc just grabbed his hands, leaning in close and saying, "I love you."
A blush instantly rose to Nathaniel's face. He attempted to hide it by ducking his head down and letting his bangs cover his face, "Where did that come from?"
"See!" Marc exclaimed, pulling back, "That's it! That's That's what I'm talking about!"
"Huh??"
Marc smiled brightly, "It's just little actions you do unconsciously. Hiding your blush with your bangs is one of them." He started counting on his fingers, "Along with the sparkles in your eyes when you're talking about one of your interests, the way you're physically affectionate with people you're close to, and more! It just all contributes to everything I love about you."
Nathaniel felt his face heat up even more, looking away with his cheeks burning red, "O-Oh. Wow."
Marc laughed again, leaning in and pressing a kiss to his boyfriend's cheek.
"Cute."
