Fight Like A Girl

Summary:

"Sometimes change is just one girl with her fists clenched, no longer willing to be trodden on...

But when there are six girls with their fists clenched, no longer willing to be trodden on, they can revolutionize the world."

The 6 women of Class 1A have never felt comfortable sharing their school with Mineta Minoru. But when he goes too far one day, the girls lobby for Mr. Aizawa and Principal Nezu to expel him and give them the chance to feel safe at school once again.

Principal Nezu decides to give the girls a challenge instead.

Win the UA Sports Festival.

If they can do that, then Nezu will help them gather evidence and expel Mineta for them. The girls agree to the task and thus begin training and practicing hard in their spare time, working together and even reaching out to the other women around them for support in this momentous task. They grow closer than any of them expected to be and eagerly experiment with their Quirks and combat skills.

And when the Sports Festival comes around, they'll show everyone why you should fight like a girl.

Chapter Text

Sometimes change is just one girl with her fists clenched, no longer willing to be trodden on.

“THAT’S ENOUGH!”

“HOW DARE YOU!”

“GET THE FUCK OUT!”

“HE’S GONE TOO FAR THIS TIME!”

“I’LL KILL THAT FUCKING PERVERT!”

“I’M TELLING MR AIZAWA ABOUT THIS IMMEDIATELY!”

Such shouts follow one Mineta Minoru as he races from the Girl’s Changing Rooms, cackling as he holds his stolen goodies. The 6 Class 1A students, all girls, chase him in their school uniforms, trying to catch up. But the little pervert is too quick and too small for the girls to catch him. No matter how hard they looked, he was gone.

So the 6 of them unite and walk to the teacher’s office on a mission, Yaoyorozu leading the charge.

Sometimes change is just one girl with her fists clenched, no longer willing to be trodden on.

But when there are six girls with their fists clenched, no longer willing to be trodden on, they can revolutionize the world.

Shouta knew this would be a year of Problem Children as soon as Midoriya broke all the bones in his arms and legs in the entrance exam.

But this is beyond his expectations.

“Mineta really did all of that?” Shouta confirms. “Because these are some very serious accusations.”

The 6 female students in his class nod determinedly, arms intertwined and wrapped around each other in support.

“He snuck into our changing rooms and hid in a locker, taking pictures. I heard a camera shutter.” Yaoyorozu repeats, back straight and arms at her side, face rife with seriousness.

“He groped me at the USJ attack after I saved him from the water Villains, ribbit.” Asui repeats, hunching over and hugging herself across her chest, as if shielding herself.

“He grabbed my ass in training yesterday.” Ashido repeats, fists shaking as she stamps her foot, hissing out each word.

“He bounced right into my chest using his Quirk.” Uraraka repeats, her arms around Asui, though she’s pressing her chest to Asui’s back as if hiding it.

“He’s always making gross comments about if I’m actually naked in training.” Hagakure repeats, her arms positioned as if her hands are on her hips.

“He’s always asking us to show him our breasts, bras and panties.” Jirou repeats, blushing bright red in humiliation and anger, her fists shaking, earjacks waving.

Each of the girls are obviously startled and upset over the incidents that have occured in a classroom where they should feel safe and protected. Not have to worry over being assaulted and harassed by their classmates and future co-workers.

Shouta takes a deep breath and groans deeply.

He knew letting in that little maggot was a mistake.

“I want to start by apologising to you all.” Shouta sits up straighter.

The girls blink in surprise. As if they didn’t think he’d say that.

Fuck, he knows he sucks at this teacher thing, but this is a whole new level of shame.

“I have failed in my duty as your teacher to keep you safe at school and I also failed as a Hero for allowing Mineta to remain in this establishment for this long.” Shouta stands up. “Personally, I would have expelled him on the first day.”

“But then why didn’t you Mr. Aizawa?” Asui asks, putting her finger to her chin. “Ribbit, that doesn’t seem like you.”

Shouta sighs. It isn’t like him, but if fucking nepotism wasn’t at play-

“Mineta, unfortunately, is the son of one of the Board of Directors at UA and a particularly popular news reporter.” Shouta rubs his head with his cast covered hand. “If we attempted to expel him without ‘proper evidence’, we’d have a political and media scandal on our hands. Not even Nezu can do anything about the Board of Directors if they’re insistent on something, which is why we still have that illogical entrance exam. And given the fact that the USJ incident happened, we can’t afford to tarnish the school’s reputation any further.”

Uraraka grits her teeth. “That’s horrible.”

“It’s not fair!” Ashido shouts, waving her arms wildly.

“It’s not and I apologise.” Shouta bows his head to the students once again.

Fuck, he needs to be better at this shit. He’s been teaching for 5 years now, you’d think he wouldn’t keep making stupid mistakes all the time.

Yaoyorozu speaks up. “Mr. Aizawa, what counts as evidence? Surely 6 witnesses at least would be sufficient.”

“He’s also done this stuff in front of the other boys in class.” Hagakure perks up, turning to the girls. “Do you think if we asked them to testify, they’d help us out?”

Shouta is proud of these kids for trying to find ways to change things.

“Unfortunately, without photographic or audio evidence, your testimonies would be dismissed as gossip, even if you got the other students involved.” Shouta leans back in his chair. “There aren’t any cameras in the changing rooms or bathroom stalls, since Nezu respects student privacy. Nothing has flagged up on the cameras we use for class either since your first Heroics lesson.”

Jirou growls, clenching her teeth, earphone jacks swinging wildly. “But can’t you talk to him?!”

“I have.” Shouta leans forward. “I noticed his behaviour during the first Heroics lesson and I reprimanded him for it. It’s marked down in his record too. But I haven’t noticed anything since then and neither has any of the other staff. Nothing has appeared on the training videos either. He’s been careful.”

Shouta is an Underground Hero, he’s supposed to be good at observation, damnit.

Asui ribbits mournfully, lowering her hands. “And here I thought he was just stupid.”

Shouta thought that too. But looking at the current academic records for his class, even though it’s only been one week, it seems Mineta is the 9th smartest person in his class grades wise.

However, there may still be a way out of this.

“I can’t expel Mineta without evidence and I wouldn’t want to put you 6 in any more peril. You should feel safe and free at school, not like you have to watch your every step.” Shouta stands up, pushing his chair back under his desk with his hip.

His students blink at him in confusion.

Shouta narrows his eyes. “But Nezu will help you all do this, or I’ll strangle him.”

It’s an empty threat, since the stupid Rat God could probably kill Shouta before he even gets to his office, especially while he’s injured like this. But he’s fucked up enough already and his students need some hope.

And with the way their eyes brighten for the first time since this whole encounter, he knows whatever Nezu throws at him is worth it.

“I see.” Principal Nezu says as he sets his tea down. “You want to have my help to compile evidence of Mineta’s assaults of you to help create a justifiable reason to expel him.”

Momo nods, speaking on behalf of the other girls as she says. “Yes. We know that our testimonies alone would not be enough evidence and you’re the smartest being on the planet, Principal Nezu. As our Principal, we ask for your help in this endeavour so that we can have a safer experience at school.”

Momo hears the rest of the girls making sounds of agreement behind her.

Mr. Aizawa is at their side, his eyes glaring through his bandages. Even injured as he is and half mummified, he gives off a sense of strength. It gives Momo more confidence to have her teacher backing them up.

“While I am incredibly proud of you all for working together to ask me for help…” Principal Nezu says as he folds his hands on his desk.

Momo holds her breath.

“I’m afraid I would only do this if you all accomplished a task for me.” Principal Nezu says, smiling at them.

Momo is worried about this.

“What kind of task, Mr. Nezu?” Hagakure asks from behind Momo.

Principal Nezu smiles even wider, a predator’s smile. “Win the UA Sports Festival.”

The girls gasp, turning to one another in shock.

“Every podium needs to have a female student from Class 1A on it.” Principal Nezu continues. “You can ask for outside help, but it’s more important for you all to work together during the Sports Festival.”

Momo can’t believe this.

“There are 214 other students in our year, not including us! There are power houses like Bakugo, Midoriya, Todoroki and Iida in our class alone, nevermind the rest of the school!” Jirou shouts out. “And you want us to beat all of them?!”

Principal Nezu nods, sounding rather cheerful. “That is what I said.”

Momo really can’t believe this.

“I know this is a momentous task. And you can say no.” Principal Nezu looks over them. “The decision is ultimately up to you 6.”

Momo turns away from Principal Nezu and towards the other girls in her class.

Each of them looks various versions of nervous, shocked, surprised and even a bit scared.

But…

But Uraraka has a determined look on her face.

Asui looks at Uraraka and then nods at her, turning to Momo with the same determined face.

Ashido looks at them and smiles, then Jirou’s eyes narrow and Hagakure nods her shoulders.

Momo turns to the girls fully. “Do you think we can do this, ladies?”

“Yeah!” They nod, shouting together.

In that case…

Momo turns back to Principal Nezu. “Sir, we accept your challenge. We will win the UA Sports Festival and ensure 4 of us stand on the podium.”

Principal Nezu’s smile turns less predatory and more proud. “In that case then, I wish you all luck.”

The girls nod.

Chapter Text

“Okay.” Momo clicks her pen. “As the Class Vice Rep, I now declare this meeting of the Class 1A Women begun. The agenda: winning the UA Sports Festival.”

Momo and the rest of her female classmates are in the Class 1A classroom after school while Aizawa naps in his sleeping bag. On paper, this is a study session, but in truth it’s a chance for them all to collaborate and work on a solution to rise to the challenge Nezu gave them just hours ago.

Momo just hopes they can do it.

“Let’s go over what we know about the UA Sports Festival.” Jirou raises her hand. “It is an event held once a year, where for 3 days, the UA Students compete in various challenges. Each day is dedicated to each year of students, with the first years, us, going first.”

“There is always a mass qualifier, then a team activity, the recreational games and finally a tournament of some kind.” Asui adds, leaning forward. “Ribbit, the events are randomised every year and the rules will be different for each event. The recreational games don’t affect your ranking in the tournament, but can still be a way to be noticed by Pro Heroes.”

“There’s always a grand finale with a podium, with the first, second and third place students on it.” Uraraka stands up. “You’ll usually get two third place students, unless they decide to have the two of them compete for the third place.”

“Right.” Momo notes.

She writes all of this down.

“Which means that 4 out of the 6 of us need to make it through the tournament round, right?” Ashido smiles, winking. “We fought real Villains, so that shouldn’t be too hard.”

Hagakure nods her shoulders. “Yeah, we’re probably stronger than most of the other students, plus we’ve all had training!”

“And we weren’t the only ones who fought Villains, or did you forget the rest of our class were in the USJ too?” Jirou scoffs, folding her arms. “Including Bakugo, who’s competitive streak is fueled by his massive explosive ego, Todoroki, who totally froze you in our first lesson and Midoriya, who can make us go splat with a flick of his fingers.”

Hagakure and Ashido slump, defeated.

Asui winces. “Yeah, our odds of beating them aren’t reassuring. I think we might’ve jumped the gun a bit, ribbit.”

Jirou also looks down, appearing pensive.

Momo looks at the things she’s written already and it really isn’t looking good.

It’s unlikely that they can match up in raw firepower to their male peers and that’s not even considering the students outside of their class, who are a total unknown.

“But!” Uraraka jumps up and turns to Momo. “Yaoyorozu is really amazing! You could make anything, like, even if Todoroki froze you, you could make a flamethrower to thaw yourself out! Plus you’re really smart, even if the flamethrower didn’t work, you’d think of something else.”

Momo flushes a bit at the praise.

“And-” Uraraka turns to Ashido. “Bakugo wouldn’t be able to sweat if you covered his hands in acid that wasn’t too corrosive, Ashido! You’d probably wreck his hands so bad that he’d be in too much pain to fight. You’re really slick too so you could probably slide circles around him!”

Ashido blinks and grins, holding up two fingers. “Aww, thanks girlfriend.”

“Tsuchan!” Uraraka turns to Asui. “You’ve used your tongue to throw Deku around before! If you just get to him first, tie him up and throw him, then he won’t have the chance to fight!”

Asui ribbits and taps her chin. “You might be right about that.”

“Jirou!” Uraraka turns to Jirou. “You’re allowed to wear your Hero Boots in the Sports Festival, I’ve seen people do it all the time. So you could use your speakers to make a sound too loud for Todoroki to defend against, or maybe you could even blast him out of the arena!”

Jirou blinks and hums, reaching for her earjacks. “I didn’t think to look into the loop holes.”

“Hagakure!” Uraraka turns to Hagakure. “It doesn’t matter how strong Bakugo is, if he can’t see you, then he can’t hit you!”

Hagakure gasps and stands up. “Oh my God, you’re totally right, girl!”

“And you could probably float Midoriya out of the arena, ribbit.” Asui adds on.

Uraraka blushes and smiles. “Well, I’d do my best if I had to fight him.”

Momo watches as the girls excitedly discuss the different ways in which they could defeat their male classmates in combat. Specifically, she focuses on Uraraka in awe.

Even though we were all despairing, she managed to lift us up and give us hope again. She made us have faith in our abilities.

Momo hadn’t thought much of Uraraka at first. She was a nice girl, but Momo hadn’t been sure how to approach becoming friends with her other classmates. In the all girls school she’d gone to before UA, most of her peers would try to get her to use her Quirk illegally or would attempt to befriend her with bribes.

It was a school where the daughters of businessmen, CEOs, celebrities and politicians would practise their sharp tongues with one another to make their parents proud. She made some connections with a few of her classmates there and thought that was friendship.

But upon coming to UA and meeting those who are so different to her…

Those like Ashido who are loud. Those like Jirou who listen to ‘devilish music’. Those like Uraraka who can inspire everyone with just a few words…

Momo realises that she knows nothing of friendship. Or how to be a good leader.

Should I really have gotten the vote for Vice Class Representative? I know Iida is technically my superior, but I’m still an important figure in the classroom.

Uraraka even managed to make Momo feel hopeful again, even though she should be the one leading and encouraging the girls, to help them reach their goal.

“Yaoyorozu?”

Momo blinks out of her thoughts. “Yes? My apologies, I was lost in thought.”

“Don’t sweat it!” Uraraka smiles, holding up her hands. “I was just thinking that since you’re a Class Vice Rep, is there any way you could talk to the other Class Reps? See if they can help us with our plan?”

Momo’s eyes widen.

“Yeah! Principal Nezu said we could ask for help and he didn’t put any limits on who that help could be.” Ashido jumps up. “Maybe there’ll be a nice Class Rep or Class Vice Rep in 1B who can help us get rid of Mineta.”

“I hope so, especially after the incident earlier at lunch, ribbit.” Asui croaks.

Momo winces thinking back on it.

On the public declaration of war from the purple haired student in the general course and Bakugo angering the male student from 1B. It happened before their Heroics Lesson and Mineta peaking in their changing room.

Momo gasps and stands up.

“What is it, Yaoyorozu?” Hagakure asks.

“The student from General Ed! The one with purple hair who appeared exhausted!” Momo holds her hands in front of her. “He said that students can be transferred in and out of courses depending on how well or how poorly they do in the Sports Festival. If we tell him that we intend to create a space in the class by getting Mineta expelled-”

“Then he could work with us to help make that happen.” Jirou stands up as well.

“Are you sure he’d want to work with us, ribbit?” Asui holds up her hand. “What if he thinks it’s some kind of trick? He obviously doesn’t like our class.”

“Perhaps, but we can at least try, right?” Hagakure bounces in place.

Ashido nods. “Plus, maybe he can take out Mineta for us, if he can talk such a big game about declaring war on us.”

Uraraka smiles. “That’d be great! If Mineta gets a bad score, then he’s more likely to get transferred into Gen Ed. And in return, we can help him get through the Sports Festival!”

Momo smiles. “It’s an excellent strategy.” She frowns and holds her chin. “However I don’t think he told anyone his name, so it’ll be rather difficult to arrange a meeting with him.”

“Leave that to me.” Jirou lifts up her earphone jack and swings it around, smirking. “I always remember every voice I hear. If he talks on campus, I’ll be able to track him down.”

“Wow, that’s amazing Jirou!” Hagakure squeals.

Momo must agree. Jirou is amazing.

“In that case, leave talking to the Class 1B and other representatives to me.” Momo smiles. “I won’t let you down, ladies!”

They sit down and Momo writes down the new additions to their plan.

“Talking to our other schoolmates is great and all, but do you think we should get the teachers involved too?” Momo suggests.

The rest of the girls all look at each other somewhat nervously.

Was it something she said? Do they not trust their teachers?

“What do you mean, Yaoyorozu, ribbit?” Asui asks.

Momo feels a bit stupid now, but she’ll continue. “I just mean that perhaps if the teachers all know about Mineta’s behaviour and our challenge to the Principal, they could help us. Such as watching Mineta more closely or giving us extra training.”

Hagakure sighs and her shoulders slump. “I don’t know, Yaoyorozu. That didn’t work out so well for me.”

Momo blinks.

“Ribbit, what do you mean, Hagakure?” Asui prompts.

“Whenever the boys would creep on me in middle school and I told the teachers, they’d say I shouldn’t have been naked on school grounds.” Hagakure huffs. “Or because I didn’t really have a body, there’s no way they could gather evidence.”

Momo’s eyes widen in horror.

“Oh that’s awful!” Uraraka gasps.

“I know how you feel, ribbit.” Asui adds. “I’d get bullied by my teachers and classmates in middle school too. The girls would start rumours about me giving birth to tadpoles or cleaning my stomach in the bathrooms and the teachers always believed them over me.”

“What?!” Momo gasps.

“Oh man, oh man, tell me about it.” Ashido leans back in her chair. “My middle school teachers were useless when it came to dealing with bullies, my primary school teachers too. They’d try to say it was just boys being boys, nothing serious. But it was always when I was involved, or if there was another mutant being bullied. If something bad happened to the more normal kids then they’d take it seriously.”

Momo feels vaguely ill.

“I can’t tell you how many times I heard people being bullied or hurt and when I told the teachers, they said I was spreading rumours.” Jirou plays with her earphone jacks, tugging on them. “And that I shouldn’t believe everything I hear.”

Momo definitely feels ill.

“Oh man. I’m sorry you guys had to face that kind of discrimination. I can’t speak from personal experience, of course, not having a mutant Quirk myself…” Uraraka runs her fingers through her hair. “But I’d get bullied too since my parents aren’t exactly wealthy.”

Momo looks at her classmates and her heart breaks.

“Have you all truly had such poor treatment from your teachers?” Momo asks them, fighting the tears in her eyes.

The five of them turn to her, eyes widening.

Oh no, Momo shouldn’t cry at a time like this.

She quickly dries her eyes, trying to hide the tears.

“Well…” Uraraka smiles. “Mr. Aizawa is a pretty good teacher. He never makes fun of me if my stomach grumbles in class. He even gave me food the one time!”

Jirou lets go of her earjacks. “He lets me listen to music in class without getting mad.”

“When I told him that my costume wasn’t working for me after our first battle trial, ribbit, he helped me think of some different ways to change it.” Asui ribbits.

“UA is the first time that it’s felt like a teacher actually cares about me.” Ashido leans forward towards the table. “He doesn’t get mad when I fidget in class, not to mention how cool he was when he protected everyone at the USJ.”

“He believed us when we told him that something bad was going on, which is more than any other teacher has ever done before for me.” Hagakure presses her sleeve to her chest.  “And when I told him I was wearing a costume made of my DNA, he believed me! He didn’t think I was naked in class!”

Uraraka smiles. “Not to mention when he apologised to us just now. A teacher has never said sorry to me in my life. I was so surprised!”

Momo has to admit, a teacher has never apologised to her before either. But her teachers have never treated her like the teachers of her friends have treated them. On some level, they don’t trust the other UA staff based on these experiences.

Momo nods to herself, determined.

“In that case, I will handle speaking to the teachers as well!” Momo makes a fist, holding it to her heart. “I’d rather avoid making all of you uncomfortable, so I will tell them about our plight and hopefully at least one of them will be willing to assist us.”

The rest of the girls smile, Uraraka giving her a friendly salute. “I believe in you, Vice Rep!”

The women all cheer, raising their fists in the air.

With that, they continue their planning session, a much more upbeat atmosphere taking hold.

(Unaware of their teacher’s mounting rage as he pretends to sleep in the corner.)

Kyoka sticks her earphone jacks in the crack in the wall, trying to listen out for one specific voice. The very same voice that said some rather cutting words to them yesterday.

“So this is Class 1A. I heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass. Is everyone in the Hero Course delusional, or just you?”

“How sad to come here and find a bunch of ego maniacs.”

“I wanted to be in the Hero Course. But like many others here I was forced to choose a different track. Such is life. I didn’t cut it the first time around, but I have another chance…”

“If any of us do well in the Sports Festival, the teachers can transfer us to the Hero Course. And they’ll have to transfer people out to make room. Scouting the competition? Maybe some of my peers are, but I’m here to let you know that if you don’t bring your very best, I’ll steal your spot right from under you.”

“Consider this a declaration of war.”

Kyoka’s always been good at paying attention to sounds. Especially to music and voices, it’s in her blood after all, with her parents’ careers.

She also learned to pay attention to sounds and people’s voices to properly understand them. To know who’s lying through their laughing and smiles. To know who’s going to try to pull at her ear jacks and call her a freak. To know who’s in trouble and needs some help, even if when she gets the teachers involved they’ll do nothing, so she’ll do her best to help instead.

Kyoka shifts through all the different voices in the school, tries to snake her way through every sound, only enough to catch a word or too, nothing longer. She’s always overheard secrets, but she has never purposely sought them out.

“Fucking Hero Course…”

Found him!

Kyoka concentrates on the sound, tries to navigate where it’s from. Maybe one of the gyms? During lunch?

“I got him.” Kyoka extracts her jack, turning to the others. “We ready to confront this guy?”

Ashido grins, pumping her fists. “I am so ready to confront this guy.”

“Let’s do our best to get him on our team!” Uraraka pumps her fist.

Kyoka nods. “Follow me then.”

She keeps a mental lock on that guy’s voice, subtly waving her earphone jacks as they head towards the gym. He doesn’t seem to be much of a talker, but she’s just about picking up on his breathing in place of that.

Finally, they get to the P.E Grounds where they took the scary Quirk Assessment Test Aizawa put ‘em through on Day 1.

Kyoka spots him. He’s running laps around the grounds and his running form is… honestly pretty bad. There’s a lot of wasted movement in his jogging. Aizawa only recently showed them all how to properly jog and run, to make as many effective movements as possible. Kyoka is still getting the hang of it, so she’s not that good at it, but it’s clear that purple head hasn’t even had someone show him the ropes.

“There he is.” Ashido pumps her fist. “Let’s go meet him.”

Uraraka nods. “But let’s not get too up in his space or be intense.”

“Agreed.” Kyoka says.

With that, the three of them walk over to where he’s taking a quick break, chugging a water bottle. It doesn’t take him long to notice them coming over, lowering his bottle and glaring at them like they personally offended him.

“Wonder why you guys are here.” The guy puts his water bottle down, hand on his hip. “Pissed that I challenged your class yesterday, I take it.”

Such a grump. This isn’t gonna be easy.

“It’s got something to do with that. But I’d rather have your name if that’s okay.” Kyoka waves her jacks, pointing at the others when she calls their names. “I’m Jirou. This is Uraraka and Ashido. I think we can help you get in the Hero Course if you help us.”

The grump blinks, heartbeat picking up a second in surprise.

People can lie all they want, but Kyoka can hear their hearts. She can tell when they lie.

The grump narrows his eyes. “I’m Shinsou. It’s pretty weird that the Hero Course is asking an enemy for help.”

Ashido grins. “We want you to take out a nasty ranky pervert who took photos of us in the locker room. We’re trying to kick him out of the school and if he does badly in the Sports Festival, I’m sure that’ll help get him out and make room for you to slide into the Hero Course.”

Shinsou blinks. “What the fuck?”

Kyoka almost wants to laugh. He doesn’t think they’re being serious.

“You see, there’s this boy in our class, Mineta. He’s always grabbing us and harrassing us and taking our pictures and we’re sick of it!” Uraraka pumps her fists. “We want him out of our school! And Principal Nezu said he’ll only expel him if we win the UA Sports Festival.”

Shinsou narrows his eyes, folding his arms. “So you want me to handle the rat.”

Kyoka nods. “And in return, we’ll help you get as far as we can manage in the Sports Festival. 4 of the girls in our class have to be standing on the podium, so we can’t get you much higher than 5th place in the overall competition.”

“We can also put in a good word with our homeroom teacher, Mr. Aizawa!” Uraraka adds on, jumping forward. “His Hero name is Eraserhead-”

Shinsou’s heartbeat picks up again, likely in relation to excitement. Does he know Mr. Aizawa?

“And he’s a really awesome Hero! I know he doesn’t like the entrance exam either, I’m sure he’d sympathise with you.” Uraraka smiles. “He’d probably want to help you be a Hero.”

“We can also give you training lessons from our class!” Ashido gasps, jumping up and down on the spot. “We can teach you how to punch and fight and use your Quirk too!”

Shinsou looks between the three of them, eyes wide with surprise, heart racing.

Kyoka hopes he’ll listen to them and decide to work with them.

Shinsou narrows his eyes. “If this is a prank, it’s a pretty convincing one.”

Damnit, why’s he gotta be so distrustful? It’s annoying.

“It’s not a prank.” Kyoka says, unfolding her arms. “But you want to be a Hero, right? We’re offering you a pretty good chance to do that and all you have to do in return is trust us a little.” Then she smirks. “Or was all that talk about stealing our spots right from under us just bluffing? Can’t even handle a pint sized pervert?”

Shinsou’s eyes widen for a moment, then they narrow.

Ohh he doesn’t like that challenge. He reminds her of Bakugo.

“Oh I want to be a Hero. And I know I can take down one pervy little rat.” Shinsou steps up. “I’ll work with you, Hero Course.”

Kyoka smiles winder and nods. “Good.”

She pulls a note from her jacket and passes it to him.

“This has my phone number on it. Text me your number and I’ll invite you to the Discord chat we’ve got where we’re planning this out and arranging meetings in person.” Kyoka puts her hand on her hip. “It’ll be a bunch of girls in there. Think you can handle that?”

Shinsou smirks and puts one hand on his hip. “I’m not a caveman, Jirou. And I’m gay, I don’t give a shit how many women are in there.”

“Just checking. Not everybody owns a private phone or laptop after all.” Kyoka shrugs.

“Thanks for agreeing to help us Shinsou!” Uraraka smiles, giving him a peace sign.

“Yeah, we’ll owe you one if you can take out Mineta for us!” Ashido cheers. “We’ll let you enjoy your lunch and get our own. See ya!”

With that, the three girls head back to the main building.

Kyoka hopes that Shinsou wasn’t all talk and will actually be useful.

They need all the allies they can get.

Tsuyu is a bit unsure of how this meeting will go between the Class Representatives. But if it does work then…

“Thank you for agreeing to us after school, Kendo.” Yaoyorozu bows to the other student as she enters the room.

Kendo is the Class 1B representative. She’s a rather tall girl with long orange hair and teal coloured eyes. She seems strong if her stance and her muscles mean anything.

“It wasn’t a problem. I’m glad to be here, Yaoyorozu.” Kendo replies, bowing briefly. “I’m sorry about what Tetsutetsu said yesterday morning. I imagine the USJ was rather traumatic for your class.”

“It was and we appreciate you showing concern for us.” Yaoyorozu smiles, waving her off. “We didn’t take offence at all and I apologise for Bakugo offending him in the first place.”

The 4 of them, plus Miss. Midnight, are in the 1A classroom just after school. Tsuyu and Hagakure are here with Yaoyorozu in hopes of showing Kendo why this is so important to them.

“As for the topic of this meeting, you see, it’s about one of our classmates who’s been harassing us. Mineta Minoru.” Yaoyorozu holds her hands in front of her, arms down. “He’s been awful to us all and there are complicated factors preventing Mr. Aizawa from simply expelling him.”

Kendo narrows her eyes. “He wouldn’t happen to be the short one with purple balls on his head?”

Tsuyu nods. “That’s him, ribbit. Has he been harassing your girls too?”

Hagakure gasps. “Oh no, has he really?”

“He sure has.” Kendo nods. “I’ve seen him skulking around the locker rooms and one of the girls said he tried to stalk her on her way home, so I walked with her. Fucker still followed us until we gave him the slip.”

Tsuyu ribbits.

Well that was certainly very gentlemanly. She can see why Kendo was elected as the Class Representative if she’s willing to look out for her classmates like that.

“You see, Principal Nezu has given us a challenge.” Yaoyorozu begins.

Hagakure jumps up, waving her arms. “If 4 of the Class 1A girls win the UA Sports Festival, then we can get Mineta expelled for good!”

Kendo’s eyes widen. “Are you serious?”

Tsuyu ribbits. “Really serious.”

She hopes that Kendo will believe them.

“Given the magnitude of the task being asked of us, we know that we will be out numbered and in trouble if we tried to do this alone.” Yaoyorozu bows. “So please, Kendo. If you could help us win in this endeavour so that all the women in UA can be safer from Mineta, we’d really appreciate it.”

Hagakure and Tsuyu bow as well, following Yaoyorozu’s lead.

There’s quiet for a bit.

“Of course I’ll help you!”

The three of them stand up straight.

Kendo is clenching her fists and grinning widely. “There’s no way I can just let this little monster keep hurting your girls or mine. We have to look out for each other as women.”

Yaoyorozu smiles widely. “Oh thank you so much Kendo! I truly appreciate that!”

“Like I said, as women we have to look out for each other.” Kendo pulls out her phone and fiddles with it, then passes it to Yaoyorozu. “Put your number in here. I’ve already made a group chat with the ladies in my class and I’ll ask them to help in this endeavour too. We can organise after school training between our classes.”

“That’s a great idea!” Hagakure cheers, bouncing up and down. “Thank you Kendo!”

“Yes, thank you so much Kendo. That’s a brilliant idea!” Yaoyorozu fiddles with Kendo’s phone and then a ping sounds from her pocket. “I’ve texted your number to myself and I’ll send you the link to the group chat I’ve made with the other girls on Discord.”

Kendo nods. “Awesome. I’ll text the link to the other ladies once I’m back at my place. We can build up a plan later today.”

Tsuyu ribbits. “That sounds great. Thanks for agreeing to help us, Kendo, ribbit.”

Kendo nods.

Midnight suddenly makes a noise, catching everyone’s eyes.

“Such beauty. Such sisterhood. Such wonderful youthfulness!” Midnight claps and turns to them. “I will help organise these after school training sessions.” She smacks her whip. “I’ll teach you how to fight like women.”

Tsuyu gasps.

They’ll really get to learn from Midnight?

“Thank you so much Miss Midnight!” Yaoyorozu gasps, bowing and smiling. “We’ll do our best!”

“I know you girls will. Nothing unites women quite like protecting each other does.” Midnight licks her lips. “I’m eager to see what torture you put that brat through.”

Tsuyu just hopes that this is enough to win the UA Sports Festival.

Chapter 3: Training

Summary:

"Most girls are smart and strong and beautiful" - Hailee Steinfeld

Chapter Text

“Ladies!” Midnight cracks her whip. “Welcome to your first lesson on the art of femininity.”

Toru pumps her fists, ready to learn as much as she can.

She and the rest of the First Year Heroic girls are gathered in Gym Gamma, being supervised by Midnight. They only have a few days until the UA Sports Festival and they need to do their best to make it a success, for the sake of all of them.

“As I’m sure you’re all aware, women are still sadly looked down upon in this patriarchal society.” Midnight walks in front of them, pacing back and forth. “Especially a powerful woman like myself, taking control of my sexuality and using it in ways that please and serve me instead of men. This is my personal path to power in my femininity and it gives me strength mentally and emotionally.”

Toru is a little nervous. She’s not sure if she could do what Midnight does. She’s also not sure why Midnight is talking to them about this.

“However, there are many paths of power within femininity and it does not have to be about claiming control of your sexuality. It can be about anything you want.” Midnight stops in front of them, smiling. “While I am going to teach you all some methods of seduction, this will only be a fraction of the lessons I will teach you all in the coming days.” She holds her whip against her hip. “You stand before me as some of the best female hero students in the country and I’ll do my best to help you all find power in your femininity so that you can work together to take down the foul creatures who harm you.”

That makes Toru feel better about this. If anyone is a foul creature, it’s Mineta.

“Miss Midnight, may I be excused from the seduction lessons?” Shiozaki raises her hand, then lowers it, clasping her hands before her. “I do not intend to ever seduce anyone and I do not want to lie or lead someone on.”

Midnight turns to her. “Shiozaki, are you attracted to men?”

Shiozaki gasps and a small blush appears on her cheeks.

Toru’s never seen her so much as flinch before. She wasn’t sure if it was possible to get her to react like that.

“A-And if I were?” Shiozaki shakes off her shock.

Midnight hums. “Say you were fighting a male villain and he suddenly tried to seduce you. How would you react?” She smiles. “You’d be shocked, right?”

Shiozaki nods, folding her arms across her chest. “That would be so improper.”

“Not if you’re a villain. If he managed to shock you, he could catch you off guard and hurt you or escape from your clutches or even go after civilians while you’re processing it.” Midnight narrows her eyes. “You wouldn’t want that to happen, right?”

“Of course not.” Shiozaki unfolds her arms.

“Good. Then I’d like to ask you to not skip this lesson.” Midnight smiles. “You still can if you want to, since it is only one small class right now. But we do teach about how Villains and even Heroes can use flirtation and seduction in their work in your second and third years.” She starts listing things off. “Flirting can be a way for a Villain to gain information from you, or a Hero can flirt with a Villain to throw them off their game, or it can be used in infiltration missions to get into private places. It’s a powerful weapon and it will be taught to your male peers as well.”

Toru’s eyes widen. She never thought that flirtation and seduction could be a weapon.

Though that makes her think of the femme fatal archetype; a sexy often villainous woman who is a decent fighter but gets through things by being sexy, fast, graceful and flirtatious.

“Even if you skip this lesson now, you’ll have to learn it eventually. If you want, you can use this lesson to mentally prepare yourself for future lessons, if you still want to be a Hero later.” Midnight lowers her hand. “I know that your religion is important to your journey as a Hero, Shiozaki, so I’ll do my best to respect it. But you mustn’t let it become a rigid barrier that stops you from learning new things or having an open mind. Sound good?”

Shiozaki frowns. Then she sighs and clasps her hands in prayer. “Okay. Oh Lord, forgive me for learning this forbidden knowledge and help guide me to remain on Your great path.”

Well, at least that’s settled.

“But as I said, the seduction lessons will only be one of the many things I’ll teach you, so don’t worry about it too much.” Midnight smiles. “Honestly, most of these lessons will focus on teaching you how to fight, build up muscle and get stronger over all.”

Kendo raises her hand. “What’s our first lesson then, Midnight?”

Midnight grins. “Gravity!”

The girls blink in confusion.

“Gravity?” Uraraka asks in confusion.

“Gravity, girls!” Midnight snaps her whip above her head. “Specifically the centre of gravity in your body. That’s usually the point in your body where weight is evenly distributed. This changes depending on how we stand or sit or move, but generally for women, your centre of gravity is around your hips and generally for men, their centre of gravity is around their chests.”

“Okay, but what does that have to do with combat?” Jirou folds her arms.

Midnight smirks. “It’s a lot harder to sweep someone off their feet if their centre of gravity is lower. It gives us more balance. When we use parkour, we need to use our hips and legs more than men, who use their arms a lot. And it makes kicking a lot easier, just look at Mirko.”

“Yeah, I remember she broke a Villain’s arm once with one of her kicks!” Toru adds.

Ashido jumps up and down. “Oh yeah, oh yeah, Mirko is the Queen of the roundhouse kick.”

“Very true, Ashido.” Midnight grins. “Women on average also have longer endurance rates than men. We burn through energy and fat slower than men do, since we have less muscle mass, so we can usually outlast them so long as we can stay on our feet.”

Yaoyorozu gasps. “Really? That’s remarkable.”

“That means even if the guys hit harder, just so long as we stay in the game, we can win, right?” Tokage grins.

“Exactly.” Midnight nods. “If you girls can understand how your bodies are impacted by your movements and how to make the most of your moves, then you can become some very effective fighters. Today we’ll focus on your bodies and tomorrow your Quirks. Sounds good?”

“Yes Ma’am!” All the girls shout.

Midnight cracks her whip. “Then let’s start.”

Toru nods.

She’s gonna do her best!

Kinoko isn’t sure how she feels about doing all this stuff, just to get rid of Mineta. She hurts all over just from one lesson and she feels like she’s going to throw up.

“That was an insane workout, huh girls?” Kendo asks, smiling softly.

Tokage pouts. “Easy for you to say.”

All of the girls in Class 1B know that Kendo regularly practised martial arts before she became a UA student, so she’s used to intensive exercise. The rest of them, not so much.

“Kendo’s scary strong.” Yanagi remarks, face blank as usual.

Shiozaki nods, clasping her hands. “I will do my best to learn from her example to make myself a better holy knight for my God.”

Kinoko shudders.

Shiozaki is so intense. It makes her so nervous!

The sun is still shining bright on them with a blue sky as they leave the changing room together. The rest of the girls seem so happy to talk to each other and bond and laugh.

Kinoko can only curl in on herself. She’s too shy to join in. Too nervous to talk. Too scared of being called a freak-

Oh no.

Kinoko hesitantly grabs Kendo’s hand.

Kendo pauses and turns to her. “Komori? What’s wrong?”

Kinoko gulps, looking behind her. “M-Mineta.”

It’s the boy who stalked her on her way home. Kendo noticed something was wrong though and walked with her until they lost him and Kinoko got home safe.

Kendo gasps and looks behind them. “Oh man, you’re right.”

Kinoko lets out a breath. She was afraid Kendo wouldn’t believe her.

“Wh-what should we do?” Kinoko stutters, looking up at Kendo.

She’s afraid. She’s so afraid. She doesn’t want him to stalk her again. Not again!

“We get out of here together and we get out of here safely.” Kendo promises, wrapping her arm around Kinoko. “Stay close.”

Then they walk closer to the front, getting to Yaoyorozu.

“Hey Yaoyorozu, bad news.” Kendo says to her quietly. “Mineta is tailing us.”

Yaoyorozu looks behind her. “Oh no. What should we do?”

“Not all my girls have the money or access to a car or train, so as a favour would you mind calling some cars and getting them all home?” Kendo asks, standing up straight. “I’ll pay you back.”

Kinoko stares at Kendo in awe, heart racing.

She already knew that Kendo was a kind person. Someone who noticed when you felt scared. Someone who noticed when you were too quiet. Someone who noticed when you desperately needed help but couldn’t say that.

But to go this far to help them all like this…

“No need to pay me back.” Yaoyorozu pulls out her phone. “Consider it me returning the favour of you offering your girls’ help in our mission.”

Then she dials someone.

And Kinoko feels a tiny bit braver. “Th-thank you Yaoyorozu.”

Yaoyorozu smiles at her. “Your welcome, Komori.”

Kinoko hesitantly smiles back.

Maybe this will be okay after all.

Yui knew as soon as Komori started acting more hesitant than usual that something was wrong. What exactly was wrong though she only found out when all the girls got a text and looked at their phones.

Kendo:
Mineta is tailing us, so keep your guard up. Yaoyorozu is calling some cars to get each of us home safely, so don’t panic. Just stick together and act like everything is fine. And don’t talk about our training, we can’t let him overhear us talking about it.
17:03

Wonderful.

Yui walks a little closer to Komori. Yui wouldn’t call her other classmates her friends yet, they haven’t even known each other for a month. But she wouldn’t want them feeling unsafe.

The more talkative girls continue talking about random topics Yui couldn’t be bothered to keep track of. She isn’t really fond of small talk. She’d rather talk about important things related to Heroics or Quirks or books.

When they reach the UA Gates though, none of them were expecting what awaited them.

“Yaomomo, is that a freaking limo?!” Ashido shouts, staring at the massive black, long car in front of them.

Yaoyorozu smiles at them. “Well, I wanted to make sure you would all be safely escorted home and that we could stick together. Plus I wanted us to all relax after our first training session.”

“Yay!” Hagakure cheers, waving her arm. “I’ve never been in a limo before, this is the coolest Yaomomo!”

Yui nods. “Mm.”

She’s never been in a limo either. UA is really different.

The front door opens and a man in a black suit bows to them. “Lady Momo and friends, it is good to see you.” He pulls a notebook from his pocket and a pen. “If you would be so kind as to tell me your addresses, I will escort you all home.”

So the girls write down their addresses, all too aware of Mineta tailing them.

Then they climb into the limo together, Yui ending up between Shiozaki and Tsunotori. She hopes the two of them won’t poke her too hard with their Quirks.

“Damn, this is amazing Yaoyorozu.” Tokage looks around the limo. “I mean, my family is pretty rich but not this rich.”

Yaoyorozu blinks, turning to her. “Really? May I ask who your family are then, Tokage?”

“Sure thing.” Tokage grins at her, showing off her sharp teeth. “My older sister is a Hero. In the top 100 and she’s a UA graduate.”

Tsunotori squeals. “Seriously?!”

Shiozaki hums. “You never told us that.”

“Didn’t come up, but most recommendation students have family in the Hero industry to recommend them.” Tokage shrugs, putting her hands behind her head. “What about the rest of you? What are your families like?”

Uraraka rubs the back of her head. “Well, my parents own a construction company.”

Ashido giggles. “My Mom works in a nuclear power plant, which pays a pretty penny since her Quirk makes her immune to radiation. Dad’s a stay at home kinda guy.”

“Damn, your Mom is a badass Ashido!” Hagakure chuckles. “My Mom is actually a model with a Quirk that makes her glow and my Dad is her manager.”

Tsunotori throws her hand up. “I live with my cousin and cat! We love anime!”

“I, I live with my Mom. Sh-she’s a… a witch.” Komori squeaks, ducking her head.

Shiozaki holds her hands together. “I live in a convent, with my holy family. I have never had any other family than them.”

“No wonder you’re so dedicated to your faith, ribbit.” Asui replies. “Both my parents work a lot, so I look after my younger brother and sister.”

Yanagi shudders. “Spooky. I live in a haunted house.”

“Is it lonely, Yanagi?” Kendo asks.

Yanagi shakes her head. “No. The ghosts are good company.”

There’s quiet for a bit.

“Well, it’s just me and my dad in my place.” Kendo shrugs, grinning. “He’s a mechanic and has always been great about teaching me independence too.”

“That’s pretty cool, Kendo.” Jirou leans back in her seat. “My parents are musicians. They’ve been on a few tours across the country, but they also do cheap music lessons for struggling families.”

“Your parents are quite kind, Jirou.” Yaoyorozu puts her hand over her heart. “My father is a shareholder in many major Support Businesses internationally and in Japan. My mother runs the household though and is an excellent hostess.”

The girls certainly have interesting homes.

Then they all turn to her.

“What about you, Kodai?” Kendo asks. “What’s your family like?”

Yui supposes she could answer. “Quiet. Just Grandma and me.”

Her grandmother is deaf and mute, so Yui didn’t grow up around a lot of noise. The two of them would read books together all the time though. It made her feel at home, just the two of them and their quiet entertainment.

“It’s so cool how different all our families are.” Ashido grins, looking at them all.

Yui nods. It is interesting.

But they’re still united in their quest to protect each other from perverted men.

And as Yui sits with the other girls, allowed to be quiet and listen but still invited to join in if she wants, she can’t help but feel a little bit at home with these girls too.

Hitoshi was pretty sure that trusting the Hero Course girls was one of his more stupid ideas, but he knows how this works. As soon as he’s outlived his usefulness, they’ll leave him to rot and run for the top themselves. So he has to be pragmatic and get to the top first. If they’re also looking to use him, then hopefully they won’t bear too much of a grudge against him when he uses them to get to the top.

That’s just how it goes out there. It’s a dog eat dog world and Hitoshi is not gonna get bitten.

Until then though, he can pretend to be allies with these girls. Lying is all he’s good at, after all.

“Shinsou.”

Hitoshi turns his head as the spunky purple haired 1A girl comes at him. Her name was… Jirou, right? He didn’t think she’d greet him at his classroom door.

Maybe she was serious about helping me.

Hitoshi ignores the voice of hope in his chest. It’s never gotten him anywhere before.

It’s a dog eat dog world. So Hitoshi can’t get bitten first at UA.

Jirou stops in front of him, tilting her head. “You coming to training with us?”

Well it’s not like Hitoshi ever has after school plans. Plus it’ll allow him to gather data on the Hero Course kids.

“Sure.” Hitoshi replies.

Jirou turns around. “Follow me then.”

So Hitoshi follows.

They walk through the hallways towards the Hero Course’s side of the main building. Jirou thankfully doesn’t seem interested in the small talk and that suits Hitoshi just fine so they can walk in silence.

Then Jirou stops and groans. “Fucking damnit.”

Hitoshi stops and looks over her head, looking at what’s got her attention.

A tiny guy, like really tiny, is looking up at two of the other Hero course girls who asked for his help. Uraraka and Ashido, right? He’s got a nasty smile on his face that is even making Hitoshi’s skin crawl and the guy isn’t looking at him.

He wouldn’t wanna be those girls.

Wait.

“I take it the short stack is Mineta.” Hitoshi states.

He’s learned that if he states a fact instead of asking a question, it’s safer that way. People will answer his statements, but not his questions.

Jirou snarls. “And he’s asking for the girls to give him their fucking panties.”

Hitoshi feels sick.

Okay fuck the dog eat dog world, he can’t just let this happen.

“I got a plan.” Hitoshi offers. “You get the girls out of there, and I’ll keep this guy occupied.”

Jirou turns to him. “But what about training?

Hitoshi glares at her. “To be frank, I was never going to tell you guys what my Quirk was. And I was planning on using the training sessions to learn your weaknesses so I could use you to advance.”

Jirou’s eyes widen.

“So I’ll play guard duty instead.” Hitoshi looks down. “Now get your friends outta there.”

He wants to be a Hero damnit. And sometimes…

Sometimes Heroes do what’s right instead of what’s best for them.

No matter how much it sucks.

“Hey.” Jirou bumps into his shoulder. “You’re not half bad, Shinsou.”

Then she heads over to the girls. She grabs them and starts pulling them away from Mineta. Who stands there staring at them. Then he starts crying.

So Hitoshi walks up to him. “Rejection sucks, huh?”

Mineta turns to him. “And why would you care about that?! You’re tall and handsome, I bet no one’s ever rejected you!”

Hitoshi shrugs and does his best to act straight. “I have been there too, bro, believe me. Girls are pretty like roses, but fuck those thorns are tough.”

He’s pretty sure he’s heard a straight guy say that once in a movie. He doesn’t fucking know, but this guy is more likely to hang out with Hitoshi if he pretends to be a friendly bro who knows what he’s been through.

That’s the best way to keep this Mineta shit stain busy.

“You can say that again.” Mineta rubs at his eyes and turns to him. “I’m Mineta. You?”

“Shinsou.” Hitoshi replies. “And I happen to have some romance advice that may be helpful to you, Mineta.”

Mineta’s eyes widen. “Whoa, seriously?”

Hook, line and sinker.

Shinsou just hopes he can keep this guy reeled in.

“Yeah. I’ve been accepted about as many times as I’ve been rejected.” Hitoshi says, which is true. He has asked people out 0 times and was rejected 0 times. “So I may be able to help you get one or two girls to fall for you. As one bro to another.”

Mineta stares up at him, his eyes welling up with tears.

Hitoshi wonders if his acting is that bad.

Then he bursts into screams and sobs. “THANK YOU FOR YOUR TUTELAGE SHINSOU-SENPAI! NOW I CAN LOOK AT ALL THE PANITES I WANT!”

Okay that is forever ingrained in his brain as nightmare fuel. Not like he didn’t already have plenty of that. Thanks universe.

Fuck he wishes he was as much of an uncaring asshole as he pretends to be.

Reiko’s life is full of unexplained frights and unexpected horrors. So when that Mineta boy was bothering her classmates, she wasn’t phased by it, though she did want to rip him apart and sacrifice him to the demon in her attic.

But she hasn’t yet watched enough True Crime videos to figure out how to get away with it, especially in this world of Quirks. So he lives, if only for now.

And she has more pressing horrors to handle. Like their joint training from Hell with Midnight.

“Now, ladies.” Midnight smacks her whip. “Yaoyorozu and Kendo told me that you all discussed possible team ups online last night. I want to see you girls give it a try.”

Reiko nods and makes her way over to Uraraka.

Reiko’s Quirk, Poltergeist, allows her to telepathically control things. However she has a weight limit to her Quirk, making it impossible to float anything that weighs more than herself. However Uraraka’s Quirk, Zero Gravity, removes the weight from objects and makes them float like they’re possessed. The two of them are going to see if they can get around Reiko’s weight limit and work together.

“You ready, Yanagi?” Uraraka smiles at her, giving her a thumbs up.

Like the first girl who dies in a horror movie. Such a cheerful fool.

Reiko nods.

Uraraka grabs a bunch of seemingly random objects, from heavy cans of gas to giant rocks and steadily, they glow pink and start to float above their heads.

So Reiko concentrates.

And her purple overtakes the pink glow of the objects and she sends them in circles above everyone’s heads. She grabs more and more pink, turning it purple, making the objects Uraraka floats fast and light.

Yet it doesn’t weigh on Reiko, like a dead body on her back. It doesn’t drag her down to Hell.

Reiko smiles wickedly.

Her Quirk and Uraraka’s Quirk work well together. She likes this weightlessness.

Reiko summons a large flat rock that Uraraka made weightless and jumps on it, joining the symphony of other objects she has flying above everyone. She feels like a vengeful ghost, let free on her enemies, her justice and revenge being enacted as she possesses their objects.

“Yanagi!”

Reiko looks down.

Uraraka is looking up at her, her teeth gritted. “I, I don’t think I can make anything else weightless! You should get down!”

She looks like she’s in delicious agony.

Reiko brings her objects to the ground, releasing them from her Quirk.

She can’t have Uraraka give out on her now. The fun has only just begun.

“R-release!” Uraraka calls.

The pink leaves the objects.

Reiko climbs off her stone, walking over to Uraraka. “You alright?”

Uraraka is bent over, gasping, rubbing at her wrist. “F-fine.” She stands up straight, smiling at Reiko. “You’re amazing, Yanagi. I can’t even imagine making my objects fly that fast. That’ll be super useful for Heroics!”

Reiko nods. “Thank you. I can use it on living objects too.”

Uraraka blinks. “You can?”

Reiko nods and reaches out with her Quirk.

Uraraka starts to glow purple, gasping in shock as she’s lifted above the ground. Only a bit, just to spook her.

If you work with Reiko Yanagi, you have to get used to spooky things or you die.

“Oh wow.” Uraraka giggles, twisting this way and that. “I never thought someone else’s Quirk would make me float like mine does.”

Then Reiko gets an idea. “Uraraka, if the two of us worked together, we could make all the girls fly together quickly.”

If there’s a race in any of the activities, the two of them could single-handedly get all the girls to the finish-line before anyone else could blink.

“Oh, if we’re talking about speed, let us help!”

Reiko releases Uraraka from her Quirk, the two of them turning at the call.

Tokage and Tsunotori are standing there, Tokage with her hand on her hip and Tsunotori bouncing in place.

“You float, you float!” Tsunotori orders.

Then she shoots off two of the horns on her head, two more growing in their place.

“I’ll power!” Tsunotori giggles.

Then Tokage starts splitting into several pieces, her head and hands splitting off from her body.

“And if you guys are weightless, then I can control our direction.” Tokage has her hands and head do dynamic, fast twists around her body. “I can’t carry heavy stuff while I’m in pieces, but I can push and add to our speed.”

Reiko is always fascinated watching Tokage split into pieces, like she’s a rotting and reforming corpse. It’s incredible.

“Oh, oh, let’s get the rest of the girls and give this a go!” Uraraka cheers, then shouts. “GIRLS! GET HERE, WE WANNA TEST SOMETHING!”

Reiko winces at the volume.

Yeah, Uraraka screams like the first murder victim in a horror too. She’ll definitely die first.

Soon, the rest of the girls are standing in front of them, Kendo stepping up. “So what’s your plan ladies?”

“I’m gonna make everyone weightless, while Tsunotori, Tokage and Yanagi will use their Quirks to give us more power and speed.” Uraraka explains, gesturing to them. “It could help with mass evacuations or if we have to do a race of some kind.”

Yaoyorozu gasps. “That’s a great idea! Let’s go!”

With that, Uraraka starts tagging each of the girls. They laugh, squeal or shout as they float. Reiko grabs each of the girls in her purple Quirk, possessing them and wiggling them. They shout even more at that.

Soon all the girls are floating, aside from Uraraka, Reiko and Tokage.

“Uraraka, why not make yourself float as well?” Midnight asks.

Uraraka turns to her. “I’m already feeling kinda nauseous as it is floating 10 people. I don’t wanna make it worse by making myself float.”

Reiko hums.

Well, perhaps…

Reiko reaches out with her Quirk and Uraraka gasps as she floats, turning to face her. “Yanagi?”

“So long as you keep everyone else weightless, I can carry you.” Reiko explains.

Uraraka may be the first death in a horror movie. But she’s also an important part of this team formation. If they use it in a race, they can’t afford to leave her behind, even if she is dead weight.

Uraraka smiles at her. “Thank you, Yanagi.”

“In that case, you two focus on making everyone light as a feather.” Tokage splits her body into 6 pieces, her head, her arms, her legs and her main body. “And I’ll focus on directing us.”

“I’ll power us!” Tsunotori shouts.

Then she shoots off two more horns, joining the other two she already had flying around.

Reiko nods.

She and Uraraka head to the front and link arms, while the rest of the girls grab onto their backs and each others’ backs, making a train of floating, purple glowing girls. Tokage puts her arms on Reiko and Uraraka’s shoulders.

Reiko is glad they’re doing this outside.

“Everyone ready?” Tokage calls out.

“YEAH!” The girls shout.

Tokage grins. “Then let’s go one lap around the track!”

“I’ll record your time.” Midnight says. “When I blow the whistle, go!”

WHISTLE!

So they go.

The girls scream as Reiko sends them all flying around the track, Tokage helping to pull them around a corner or two while Tsunotori laughs in the back, making a horse-like sound. The wind rushes past them, dust and debris hitting their faces and eyes but Reiko can just about keep them steady.

They do 3 laps around the track before Reiko has to stop, slowing the girls down and putting them back on the ground.

Then Uraraka throws up.

“That. Was. AWESOME!” Ashido screams, pumping her arms. “Team Gallop is the best!”

“Team Gallop?” Tokage asks, pulling herself back together.

Ashido turns to them. “Well, duh! You guys combined are probably the fastest combo we can get amongst ourselves and you have a horse on your team. So you guys are Team Gallop!”

Reiko blinks.

A team?

She looks at Uraraka, Tsunotori and Tokage.

Tokage is grinning as she rubs Uraraka’s back. “Team Gallop? I like the sound of that.”

Tsunotori cheers, jumping up and down. “We’re gonna kill everyone with our speed!”

Uraraka lifts her head weakly, grinning. “I’ll… I’ll do my best not to let you down.”

Reiko hums.

Being in a team with these people wouldn’t be too bad. Maybe Reiko can even teach them how to survive in a horror story, to help avoid any of them being the first dead.

Reiko smiles.

She likes the sound of that.

Mina screams as she throws her hands up. “THAT WAS SO AMAZING, LET’S DO IT AGAIN!”

She’s always wanted to fly when she was a kid AND NOW SHE FINALLY HAS!

Uraraka shakes her head, whimpering. “C-can’t right now, Ashido.”

Aww man, sucks that combo move totally wiped Uraraka out.

Yaomomo coughs, catching all the girls’ attention. “Let’s leave Uraraka to rest for a bit. The rest of us should try other Quirk combinations and moves that can only be forged through our combined efforts.”

Kendo nods. “Great idea, Yaoyorozu.” She turns to them. “Let’s think about some other skills the Sports Festival of the past asked for.”

Mina jumps up and down. “Fighting! Fighting usually happens at some point!”

It’s always her favourite event to watch!

Kendo nods, smiling. “Right. So let’s have a few mock battles!”

“YEAH!” The other girls cheer.

Oh Mina so has this. It’s a good thing they’re in the practice city they’re allowed to wreck.

Yanagi sits out of the fighting to hang with Uraraka, while the rest of the girls get to it. Yaoyorozu and Kendo have an interesting fight, as do Shiozaki and Jirou when they go against each other at long range. Mina’s favourite fight, in her totally unbiased opinion, was Hagakure’s battle against Kodai, she’s so cute and quiet and creative with her Quirk too.

Mina can’t wait to have her fight too!

“Isn’t this exciting, Komori?!” Mina grins, turning to the girl in 1B.

Komori flinches hard and curls in on herself, hugging herself tightly. “Yeah, exciting.”

Mina blinks in confusion.

She doesn’t look like she’s excited.

“Is something wrong? Do you need a pad?” Mina asks, voice lowered.

Komori shakes her head. “N-no, I’m just…not a good fighter.”

Mina blinks. It’s not like that’s too unexpected, since most of them haven’t had combat training before UA.

“I, I can barely look at anyone and my Quirk is freaky.” Komori whimpers. “I just can’t face people.”

Mina hums. So Komori’s got stage fright eh?

“I’m sure your Quirk isn’t that freaky.” Mina smiles. “And even if it is, you got into UA with it, right?!”

Komori nods, smiling a tiny bit. “Y-yeah.”

“Then just let loose with it!” Mina throws up her fist, giving Komori a supportive squeeze on the shoulder. “Just focus on having fun and give it your best shot!”

Komori hesitates, then nods. “I, I’ll try Ashido.”

Mina grins.

“Komori, Ashido, you’re up next!” Midnight orders.

Komori squeals and hides behind Mina.

Mina giggles and wraps her arm around Komori. “Come on, Komori, let’s go. We can do this!”

Then she starts dragging Komori to the little battle ring.

“Ashido, I, I can’t!” Komori whimpers.

“Sure you can!” Mina gently pries Komori’s hands off her. “It’s just us girls here and we all have to do our best to make this work.”

She wants Mineta gone now, before anything else happens.

Komori shakes her head. “I, I can’t. I’m not like you.”

Mina stops, surprised.

“I’m not brave. I’m not cheerful. I’m not the survivor of a Villain attack.” Komori ducks her head and she sits on the ground, curling into a ball. “I can’t fight. I don’t know why I’m even here sometimes.”

Mina’s heart aches at that.

She may not know Komori that well, but if she got into UA then she must’ve worked really hard to be here. Even though she’s still afraid, she’s still here.

It reminds her of… herself really.

Mina smiles and sits down in front of her.

“Komori, I doubt you know this but the USJ wasn’t my first tangle with Villains.” Mina says.

Komori flinches, looking up. “Really?”

Mina nods. “Yeah. When I was in middle school, I was walking home when I saw this giant Villain. He was leaning over two girls in my class. They were so scared. He was asking for directions to some place.”

Mina remembers how she felt the panic run through her body, telling her to freeze and to run, telling her to keep out, telling her to do nothing.

“I was scared too and he wasn’t even looking at me. But I could see the girls crying, so…” Mina looks down at her legs. “I moved.”

Komori gasps.

“I moved between those girls and that Villain and told him the directions to the police station, hoping they’d find him and deal with him.” Mina looks up. “Wanna know what I did immediately after he left?”

Komori nods.

“I fell to my knees and cried.” Mina giggles. “Like the loud, ugly, sad and scared crying.”

She remembers how she barely felt the concrete graze her knees. She remembers the other girls hugging her tightly and thanking her. She remembers how they all cried and screamed and no one came to see if they were okay.

“Really? But you…” Komori looks down. “You’re not like me. You’re fearless.”

Mina shakes her head. “Nah. I’m stupid, but I’m not that stupid. Anyone who’s actually fearless is a real idiot. The important thing to do, when you’re a Hero, Komori…” Mina reaches out and puts her hands over Komori’s, curled around her knees. “Is to fight against the paralysis and go out there anyway. Just do your best!”

Komori looks up and Mina can finally see her eyes a bit from behind her hair. She looks hopeful and in awe.

Mina smiles at her.

Komori nods and stands up. “I, I’ll try to fight Ashido.”

“That’s the spirit!” Mina jumps up. “Let’s do our best and Go Beyond, Plus Ultra!”

Komori nods and makes too shaky fists.

“Well if you girls are ready, take your places.” Midnight smiles, snapping her whip.

Komori and Mina run to the opposite side of the little ring they’re fighting in.

“Begin!” Midnight orders.

Mina starts making some acid in her palms. “Here I come, Komori!”

Komori squeaks and throws her hands out, but nothing happens so Mina rushes in, sliding on her acid, throwing it at the ground around Komori. This is only a practice fight, so Mina is keeping her acid pretty weak. She gets within striking range-

And a mushroom appears on her nose.

Mina screams and swats the mushroom off her nose.

Then they burst to life on her arms.

Mina screams again and swats them off, trying to get them away with her acid.

But they keep bursting up!

Mina runs out of the ring, trying to burn them all away, away, away!

“Ashido has left the circle! Komori wins!” Midnight shouts.

Mina hurries to get the last of the mushrooms off her and they don’t keep growing, thankfully.

Mina lets out a breath of relief.

“Well done Komori!” Kendo shouts. “You did great!”

Wait, that’s Komori’s Quirk? Growing mushrooms?

Komori whimpers and bows to the ground. “I’m sorry Ashido!”

Mina is just… confused now.

“Why are you sorry girl?” Mina walks over to her, a tiny bit hesitant. She’d rather not have more mushrooms pop up.

Komori whimpers. “I, I didn’t know you were afraid of mushrooms, I shouldn’t have made them grow on you, that was so cruel and I, I’m sorry! Please don’t hate me!”

Mina blinks.

What?

“Why would I hate you? That was a little scary, but it was also pretty cool!” Mina smiles, bouncing over. “You’ve probably got one of the coolest Quirks ever!”

Komori lifts her head, eye peeking out of her bangs. “What?”

“I mean, making mushrooms grow on people is gonna make them panic too much to think about fighting! It’s an awesome surprise attack that’ll work on people and robots!” Mina grins, pumping her fist. “You could even make poisonous mushrooms grow on people, so if they aren’t scared they can still get knocked out! You’re probably the strongest fighter here!”

Komori turns bright red. “R-really?!”

Kendo smiles and walks out. “Ashido is right, Komori. I don’t know what I’d be able to do against you in a fight.”

Komori stares at her, tears appearing in her eye. “Kendo…”

Mina grins. “That settles it then! We’re the most destructive fighters, so we three are Team Ruin!”

Kendo turns to her. “You gonna keep making names up for us?”

“Think of it as practice for when we become Heroes and have little squads!” Mina jumps up and down, grinning. “And maybe we’ll be able to make enough teams that we can spell out the English word GIRLS which means females!”

Komori stares at them, then she smiles, standing up. “I like Team Ruin. I like it a lot. Thanks Ashido.”

Mina grins at her. This is the coolest thing ever.

Ibara knew since she was quite young that she was destined to be a Holy Soldier. God came to her in her prayers and told her to become one of His mighty Holy Warriors. He asked her to fight on His behalf and spread His word to all she knows.

But as Ibara watches the other girls fight, she realises that she could never be as strong as them.

Ibara mostly uses her Quirk to create shields, to seek things out, to dig into the earth.

It is not a violent Quirk.

Ibara sighs and clasps her hands in prayer, closing her eyes. “Oh Mighty God, I apologise. I, Your humble servant, am not a strong combatant. I fear that I will fail You in Your grand mission for me.”

If only she had a more combat worthy Quirk. Then she could fulfil her destiny as God’s Holy Knight.

“Ya know that fighting isn’t everything there is to Heroics, right?”

Ibara opens her eyes, lowering her hands.

Jirou is standing next to her, her arms folded. “Fighting isn’t the only skill a Hero needs.”

Ibara hums. “You are right. But still, it is important.”

God asked her to be His soldier and it is a soldier’s duty to fight.

“It is. But it’s still not the only thing Heroes do.” Jirou waves one of her earphone jacks. “Heroes have to be good at finding information, at protecting people, at capture. You don’t have to be a good fighter to do that stuff.”

Ibara blinks.

Jirou does have a point. Heroes have many duties, not just those of combat. And combat skills can be acquired at a later date.

For now she should focus on what skills she does have. And what Ibara has been good at since she was young…

“Miss Midnight, scavenger hunts were common activities for past Sports Festivals, yes?” Ibara asks.

Midnight nods. “Yep, since they’re a fairly good way for letting the more tactical Heroes shine.”

Ibara hums. “Then, may we try an activity like that?”

Midnight grins. “How do you feel about a game of Hide And Seek then, Shiozaki and Jirou?”

The two girls blink, looking at each other and then at Midnight.

“We don’t have a lot of time for a scavenger hunt, since I imagine you girls wanna go home tonight.” Midnight swings her arm out at the wrecked city around them. “But a little game of Hide And Seek should be fine.”

Ibara nods. That makes sense.

Jirou nods. “Let’s do that then, teach.”

“I’m so glad you see things my way.” Midnight winks.

Ibara wrinkles her nose at Midnight. She’s such a succubus. Ibara must not let herself be corrupted by such a wicked being.

Soon the rest of the girls are hiding somewhere in the city.

“You have 20 minutes to find all your classmates.” Midnight holds up a stopwatch. “Ready…”

Ibara prepares her vines, making them grow, encouraging God’s holy light to spread from her to the rest of the world.

“Set…” Midnight holds the stopwatch higher.

Jirou’s earphone-like earlobes reach out, stretching further and further.

“GO!” Midnight clicks the stop watch.

Jirou and Ibara send out their Quirks, Ibara spreading them as far as she can, sending her senses through them. She must do her best to find the other girls.

Jirou stabs her earphone jacks into the ground, closing her eyes, concentrating as well.

Ibara closes her eyes to focus better.

Her vines spread like roots, seeking her comrades.

“I can hear a heartbeat at 2 o’clock.” Jirou murmurs.

Ibara sends her vine in the 2 o’clock position, shooting out as quick as she can.

Her vine brushes against something warm and she wraps around it, pulling.

She hears a scream, Uraraka’s, and keeps pulling.

“There’s 3 rapid heartbeats by Uraraka right now.” Jirou instructs. “One on her 7 o’clock, another on her 4 o’clock and one more at 10 o’clock.”

Ibara sends 3 more vines to those positions and they find their prey, looping around a waist, an ankle, a wrist and pulling. 2 more screams ring out.

They find most of their classmates in 10 minutes. But it takes the full 20 to locate Asui, Hagakure and Kodai.

Ashido laughs and gives them a thumbs up. “Guess we got our Investigative Team!”

Ibara and Jirou look at one another and smile. Jirou offers her a fist and Ibara returns her offer of a fist bump.

“And we have our Secret Team too!” Ashido turns to Asui, Hagakure and Kodai. “You were really hard to find!”

Hagakure cheers, jumping up. “Yay! I wanna be a stealth Hero so this rules!”

“I think I can be good for that too, ribbit.” Asui nods.

Kodai nods too. “Mmm.”

Mina hums, holding up her fingers. “So we have our Gallop, Investigator, Ruin and Secret. So now we just need the L.”

Kendo hums and turns to Yaoyorozu. “How do you feel about being the Leader?”

Yaoyorozu gasps. “Are you sure Kendo? You are the Class Representative of 1B. I’m just the Vice Representative of 1A.”

“Maybe.” Kendo puts her hand on Yaoyorozu’s shoulder. “But you’re the one who’s arranged all of this. Who’s organised and united us. So I think you should be the Leader.”

Yaoyorozu stares at them all.

Ashido jumps up and down. “Yeah, yeah, Yaomomo would be the best leader!”

Tsunotori nods. “I believe in Yaomomo!”

Uraraka gives her a thumbs up and Yanagi nods.

Jirou smiles at Yaoyorozu. “I trust you, Yaoyorozu. Do your best.”

Ibara nods as well.

Yaoyorozu smiles at them. “Then I will! Thank you for having faith in me everyone!”

Ibara can only hope that by uniting, they can finally rid themselves of that sinful incubus Mineta.

Ochako smiles as she and the rest of the girls leave the 1A classroom together to meet up with the girls from 1B. Shinsou is already waiting outside to keep Mineta occupied and they give him a grateful smile as they pass.

At least that’s one problem solved.

“Uraraka!”

Ochako stops, turning around.

Iida is walking over to them quickly. “Midoriya and I are going to a cafe after school. Would you like to join us? I heard that they create excellent mochi there!”

Ochako hums, tempted if only for a moment. She does love mochi.

“Thanks for the invitation, Iida, but the girls and I have training.” Ochako bows, declining.

Iida hums, holding his chin. “I see. Well good luck and don’t push yourself too hard!” He starts chopping his arms. “As much as I admire your work ethic, it’s important to look after yourself.”

Ochako blinks, feeling her cheeks warm just a bit.

He admires my work ethic?

“Thanks Iida, I’ll try to come next time after the Sports Festival. See ya!” Ochako waves him off.

Then she walks away. The rest of the girls have kept walking, though Ashido is waiting for her, giving her a smug grin that promises trouble.

Oh boy.

“Soo…” Ashido grins, throwing her arm over Ochako’s shoulders. “He admires your work ethic, eh?”

“Ashido, cut it out!” Ochako shakes her head, trying to push her off. “It’s not like that!”

Ashido giggles, reaching out and pulling her into a headlock. “Awww, why are you blushing then?”

“It’s just hot in here!” Ochako whines, trying to wriggle out of Ashido’s arms.

Ashido laughs. “Hot like Iida is! You have good taste-”

Ochako jams her fingers into Ashido’s side, tickling her.

Ashido squeals and lets her go, trying to run away. “Uraraka, no, have mercy!”

“I’ll get you for that Ashido!” Ochako chases her.

The two of them laugh and squeal as they run through the hallway, trying to keep up. They’re probably gonna be a bit late to training, but they are just 15 and who says they can’t have fun while they’re rushing to join the others?

Then Ashido crashes into someone, making them both fall.

“Ashido!” Ochako runs over, helping the other girl to her feet. “Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I’m fine, girlfriend, no worries.” Ashido smiles with her tongue out.

Then the two of them turn to who they knocked into. It’s Midoriya and there’s a notebook and pen on the ground too!

“Oh hey Midoriya!” Ashido leans down, offering her his hand. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking.”

“N-no it’s fine Ashido!” Midoriya blushes, waving his arms.

Ochako leans down, picking up the pen and notebook. But the notebook was open on a drawing of… her?!

“We heard Iida say he was going to go to a cafe with you after school today, what are you doing here?” Ashido asks.

“Oh I was just talking to All Might about my Quirk. He had some advice.” Midoriya waves her off.

Ochako starts reading the page, humming under her breath. It’s mostly talking about her Quirk and potential applications of it. Making herself fly, using rockets or jet packs to guide her, using grappling hooks to help her increase her manoeuvrability even more or to hold onto improvised weapons or pull people from dangerous situations…

“Oh, lucky! I’ve only gotten to talk to All Might in class!” Ashido jumps up and down. “Isn’t he so cool?!”

“Oh the coolest!” Midoriya nods.

Then he squeaks and rips the notebook out of Ochako’s hands, bowing rapidly, talking too quickly for Ochako to keep up with. But she does make out lots of “sorry”, “creepy” and “curious”?

“Chill fam, what’s in that notebook anyway?” Ashido asks him, pouting.

Midoriya stands back up straight, clutching the notebook to his chest. “I-it’s my Qu-Quirk Analysis notebook.”

That’s when Ochako can finally see the front.

Hero Analysis For The Future Volume 14.

“What’s Quirk Analysis?” Ashido tilts her head.

Midoriya blinks then stammers. “W-well it’s when you look at a Quirk in more detail to try to understand it better. Like figuring out how Endeavour makes his flames and how he uses them to do more than just burn things, like for mobility. Or looking at my own Quirk to try and understand why it’s so hard to control.”

“Then why was there a page about me in it?” Ochako asks.

Midoriya turns red as a tomato and bows his head again. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry I know it’s creepy and invasive and I’m sorry I’ll stop it-”

“I’m not asking you to stop it Deku!” Ochako smiles at him. “It was really cool and it had some interesting ideas.”

Then she has a fantastic idea.

“Actually Midoriya, I have a question for you.” Ochako hums.

Midoriya lifts his head. “Y-yeah?”

“How do you feel about Mineta?” Ochako folds her arms.

Ashido blinks at her. “Uraraka?”

Before she asks Midoriya for his help, she has to know she can count on him. Especially after what Jirou told them about Shinsou.

Midoriya winces. “I. I don’t really like him. His Quirk is fascinating and he could do so much cool stuff with it. But he’s got a really, really bad personality and I-”

“Good enough for me!” Ochako grins, putting her hand on Midoriya’s shoulder. “Come on, you’re joining us for after school training now!”

Midoriya gapes at her. “Eh? But what about Iida?”

“Tell him you had to cancel at the last minute, we need your help now, please!” Ochako leans up to his face. “Your Quirk Analysis would be really useful and I’ve never seen someone use it before!”

Midoriya turns red and nods. “O-okay!”

Then he pulls out his phone and Ochako leans back, grinning.

Ashido blinks at her. “Uhh, how is his analysis going to be helpful?”

Ochako grins at her. “You’ll see.”

She’s sure that it’ll be helpful to them if the brief look at her own notes mean anything.

Izuku has never been good around other people his own age, but especially girls his own age. He barely talked to anyone his own age aside from Kacchan before UA and most of those people were just making fun of him all the time.

So to suddenly be in a room with every beautiful girl in his class and the other Hero Course class is a little overwhelming.

Especially with Midnight here too!

“Uraraka, Ashido, why’d you bring Midoriya here?” Yaoyorozu asks, walking over to them.

They’re all standing together in Gym Gamma, the other girls stretching out and talking comfortably while Midnight watches over them.

Izuku feels like he’s intruded on something private and sacred. Like a secret girl ritual or something.

“I think Deku can help us deal with our little purple problem.” Uraraka smiles, her arms folded.

Izuku blinks, turning to her.

Does she mean Mineta?

He knows vaguely that Mineta is a little too girl crazy for Izuku’s taste. But he didn’t think it was to the point where the girls would call him a problem.

Yaoyorozu blinks and turns to him. “Then has he been debriefed on the situation?”

The situation? What’s going on?

“Not really. Uraraka just saw his notebook and asked if he cared about Mineta, then told him we needed his help.” Ashido shrugs, turning to Uraraka. “Could you explain what this is about, girlfriend?”

Izuku wants to know too.

Uraraka turns to him. “Deku, Mineta snuck into the girls’ changing room and took photos of us.”

“WHAT?!” Izuku shouts.

He knows Mineta is girl crazy, but he didn’t think he was a sexual harasser!

“But we can only get him expelled if we kick everyone’s asses at the Sports Festival.” Uraraka turns to him. “We’ve already got Shinsou from Gen Ed helping us by keeping Mineta away from us and he’s promised he can get Mineta to fail the Sports Festival entirely.”

Do they mean the angry purple guy who called Kacchan an ass and challenged them? How’d they get someone like that to help them?

“But your Quirk Analysis of me was really cool! I mean, using grappling hooks and jet packs to help me move better in the air?” Uraraka pumps her fist. “That’s such a cool idea, I never would’ve tried to do that since flying makes me sick!”

Izuku’s eyes widen.

She really thinks his Quirk Analysis is cool?

“If you could analyse all the girls and help us think of different ways to use our Quirks, it would really help us out.” Uraraka bows. “So please help us win the UA Sports Festival.”

Izuku is just…

Stunned.

Speechless.

And All Might’s words come to mind.

“Meddling where you don’t need to, is the essence of being a Hero.”

The Sports Festival is all about each of the students showing off their abilities for the whole world to see. They have to work against their friends in order to do well and stand out from the crowd.

But for the girls…

It’s about more than that. It’s about keeping themselves safe from Mineta. It’s about helping each other be secure at school.

“You must introduce yourself to the world. And proudly say I am here!”

But if Izuku does that then…

I’m sorry All Might.

“I’ll help you.” Izuku nods.

Uraraka grins and jumps up. “Thanks Deku, I knew I could count on you!”

Izuku smiles and he knows he did the right thing. That’s what being a Hero is all about.

2 weeks pass in the blink of an eye. Hours spent training until their arms feel like they’ll fall off. Hours spent strategizing and practising until their brains feel like they’ll fail. Hours spent talking and laughing and learning and trying until their tongues felt like they’d bleed.

It all leads up to tomorrow.

The UA Sports Festival.

But for tonight-

“A toast!” Itsuka raises her glass. “To the Hero Course Women succeeding!”

“YEAH!” The rest of the girls shout, raising their glasses.

They clink their plastic cups together and smile, sipping from their boba. They laugh and talk and Itsuka couldn’t be more proud of her girls. They started their extra training unsure towards each other, even a bit hostile at times. But now they sit and talk like sisters around the table they pushed together to fit them all.

Itsuka lets out a happy sigh, feeling her joy and pride fill her up from the inside out.

“I can’t wait until tomorrow.” Ashido pumps her fist. “We’re gonna kill it!”

Shiozaki shakes her head. “I do not intend to kill anyone while we battle tomorrow.”

“You don’t have to Shiozaki, promise.” Uraraka waves her off. “You can leave the killing to Yanagi.”

Yanagi hums. “I was looking for a new roommate.”

Hagakure laughs nervously. “You’re a good friend but you still scare the heck outta me Yanagi, not gonna lie.”

Kodai nods. “Hmm.”

Jirou leans back, relaxing into her chair. “I don’t know, I still think Todoroki and Bakugo could give Yanagi a run for her money.”

Komori looks around at the girls, one of her eyes peeking through her bangs. “D-do you really think we can beat them?”

Asui ribbits. “We can certainly try. So long as we work together though, we can make it, ribbit.”

Tokage slits off her hand, bringing it to fist bump Asui. “Couldn’t have said it better myself, sister. Let’s stick together, yes?”

Yaoyorozu nods, putting her drink down. “Make sure you all sleep well tonight, it’ll do you no good to be exhausted tomorrow.”

Tsunotori pouts. “But One Punch Man is rerunning for the first time in 200 years tonight!”

Itsuka laughs and smiles.

She loves her girls so much. She’s so proud of them all.

“What are you guys going to do first when we win?” Itsuka asks, leaning forward.

Yaoyorozu smiles, looking at the other girls. “Well, I was going to offer to take everyone out for drinks, like we’ve done today. It was kind of you to pay for everyone Kendo.”

Itsuka waves her off. “Hey, I said this was my treat. We all deserve a reward for all our hard work and I thought this would be fun.”

Yaoyorozu looks at her drink with a light blush on her face. “I do admit, this drink is delightful. I’ve never had boba before.”

“What?!” Ashido shouts, pouting. “Girl, why not?”

Yaoyorozu waves her off. “I just never really went to these places before. I only recently made friends with you all and it’s opened me up to so many new experiences.” She closes her eyes and smiles. “Thank you all for being my friends.”

Tsunotori’s eyes fill with tears. “Yaomomo…”

Jirou huffs gently and bumps her shoulder against Yaoyorozu. “Guess when things cool off a bit, we’re going to be taking you out a lot.”

“I like the sound of that.” Uraraka smiles. “I’ve only ever had boba on my birthday in the past, so this is a nice treat too. It’s fun to do things with your friends!”

“Yeah!” Tokage throws her fist up, running it in circles over their heads. “When this is over, let’s go to a haunted house together!”

Yanagi lifts her head. “Yes, let’s.”

Komori winces. “D-do we have to?”

Shiozaki nods. “I will pray that these souls left behind will find their way up to heaven.”

Asui puts her finger to her chin. “I can see that it’ll be a lot of chaos if we all hang out in public, ribbit.”

Hagakure giggles. “What’s life without a little chaos, eh? Bor-ing!”

Kodai nods. “Hmm.”

Itsuka watches the rest of her girls talking about hobbies and rewards and other things they have planned for after the Sports Festival. So she glances out the window.

Twilight is starting to fall, the sunset sky turning more purple than orange, one star shining bright.

Itsuka closes her eyes and makes a wish.

Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight…

Her girls keep laughing and cheering, joking and giggling.

I wish that my girls will be safe and happy, no matter what happens tomorrow.

They’ve done all the preparations they can. Now it’s down to a bit of luck, a good night’s sleep and tomorrow’s hard work.

Kayama sighs gently but with pride. “I can’t wait for you to see what my girls have been up to these past 2 weeks.”

Shouta huffs as they walk down the hallway, always the spoil sport. “I have noticed an improvement in the girls in my class. It’s a slim improvement.”

“And isn’t the sports festival all about getting in on the slim changes?” Kayama laughs.

That was how she won her last sports festival, by the skin of her teeth. But she did win.

“I’m proud of those girls, even if they don’t win.” Kayama declares.

She’s spent the last 2 weeks tutoring those girls and supporting them as best as she can. They’ve grown quite a bit and also grown closer to each other. They’ve fought hard and trained even harder and they’re thinking smarter too.

They’re all going to be incredible Heroes one day.

“They don’t have the best shot. It’s 6 against 214.” Shouta points out.

Kayama waves him off. “It’s 13 against 207. Plus there’s Shinsou and Midoriya, they’ve been helping the girls out too. They may be able to make other allies on the field too.”

They’re certainly charismatic enough for it, especially Yaoyorozu and Kendo. They’re going to be fine leaders one day.

“Just you wait, Shouta.” Kayama looks out the window, at the first star in the sky. “UA won’t know what hit it tomorrow.”

What’ll hit it will be some amazing womanly Hell.

It’s going to be incredible.

Chapter 4: Obstacle Course

Summary:

"Me and all my girls keep it lit when we come through" - Ariana Grande, Victoria Monet

Chapter Text

Setsuna knew when she signed up for UA that this would come. But now that the day is here, it doesn’t feel real.

Shishida growls. “I can’t believe the Sports Festival is here already. We’ve only been UA students for a month.”

Monoma laughs maniacally as he waves his arms. “This is our chance to finally pull ahead of those bigshots in Class 1A! 1B show the world your supremacy by working together!”

He continues laughing like a madman.

Setsuna shakes her head, sighing. He’s so stupid.

Kaibara rolls his eyes. “Monoma is way too intense for this.”

Fukidashi nods, making a “yikes” kanji on his face. “We’re not at war with 1A, man.”

Setsuna sighs. “Try telling that to someone as thick as Monoma.”

Monoma turns to them. “Come on now, surely you feel the same as I do. WE NEED TO CRUSH 1A AND SHOW THAT WE’RE SUPREME!”

Yanagi groans. “Monoma is scary.”

“Cut it out, Monoma, you’re scaring the children.” Kendo orders, snapping her hand on his neck.

Monoma faints then and there and Kendo manages to catch him before his head hits the ground. She should just let him bleed out honestly, that’s what Setsuna would do.

Tetsutetsu whistles. “Damn, Kendo is tough!”

Bondo nods. “Y-yeah. Scary, but tough.”

Setsuna couldn’t agree more. That’s why she voted for Kendo to be the Class Rep after all.

Kamakiri scoffs. “Monoma’s got a point though. I’m sick to shit of that dick in 1A.”

Honenuki nods. “He’s not my favourite person, but we did get off on the wrong foot. Maybe after the Sports Festival, we could try to become friends with them?”

Tsunotori pumps her fists. “Friendship is important!”

Shiozaki clasps her hands together in prayer. “My God preaches love thy neighbour and so I do love Class 1A.”

Kuroiro groans. “Shut up you stupid light lover.”

Awase snaps. “Hey, no need for insults here!”

Setsuna grins. Guess Awase isn’t half bad.

Rin looks down. “I hope we’ll be able to work together to help each other.”

Kodai nods. “Hmm.”

Shoda nods, looking up. “I think there will be at least one team activity.”

Komori stutters. “Y-yeah.”

Tsuburaba grins. “Good thing we've been practising team moves, right Monoma?”

Setsuna knows the boys have been working on their team exercises too. But she can’t wait to unleash Hell on them with the combo moves she and the 1A girls have been working on.

Kendo looks at her phone. “Well gang, it’s time to go line up. They’re gonna announce our entrance soon.”

That’s when it hits Setsuna.

This is the UA Sports Festival.

The entire country, maybe even the world is gonna be watching them.

No pressure.

“Now, I know we’re all a bit nervous.”

Setsuna snaps out of it, focusing back on Kendo.

“We’ve never performed on a stage of this size. I imagine a few of us are gonna trip up. A few of us are gonna make mistakes. A few of us are gonna have a hard time.” Kendo smiles. “Even so, let’s just do our best! Remember this is only our first chance at this, we have 2 more later. So that means we’ll have the chance to show our improvement.”

Setsuna smiles, feeling a lot better about the situation.

“If you’re ready, let’s hear a Plus Ultra!” Kendo raises her first.

“Plus Ultra!” The entire class shouts.

Kendo lowers her fist. “Now let’s go line up and show them what we’re made of.”

With that, she opens the door and they head out.

Setsuna keeps a grin on her face, more than ready for this.

It’s gonna be awesome.

Momo looks at the girls, all of them seated around a table.

Asui looks up. “It’s time, isn’t it?”

Hagakure wiggles on the spot. “I know, isn’t it exciting?!”

Uraraka nods, smiling awkwardly. “It’s a little scary though, too.”

Ashido laughs. “I can’t wait to strut my stuff personally!”

Jirou folds her arms. “I just hope we can actually win.”

Momo nods. “I know we will.”

They have to win.

Kirishima hardens up his arms. “This is gonna be awesome! I’m gonna do my best to stand out!”

Mineta looks at his palm, muttering. “With all the fighting that’ll happen today, maybe I’ll get to see a wardrobe malfunction!”

Shouji scowls at him. “Shut up Mineta.”

Momo is glad at least some of her classmates are reprimanding Mienta for his behaviour.

Sato clutches his hands. “I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round.”

Bakugo snarls. “Whatever it is, I’M GONNA KILL IT!”

Kaminari laughs. “Easy there man, maybe chill a little?”

Tokoyami dips his head. “No matter what they’ve prepared, we must persevere.”

Aoyama sighs sadly. “If only I could’ve worn my costume, then I could shine even more than I already do.”

Ojiro turns to him. “At least everyone will be in uniform. That’ll keep things fair.”

Koda looks around nervously, signing to the others. “Is anyone else scared?”

Sero smiles at him. “Of course we are, man, but we’re doing this together so don’t sweat it.”

Iida barges in. “Everyone get your game faces on! We’ll be entering the arena soon!”

Midoriya nods. “Right! Thanks Iida!”

With that, the girls all look at one another and stand up, ready to leave as one.

“Midoriya.”

Everyone pauses.

Todoroki was the one who spoke. The one who very rarely speaks to any of them at all, let alone to Midoriya.

Momo narrows her eyes.

Todoroki walks over to Midoriya.

What could Todoroki want with Midoriya?

Midoriya turns to Todoroki. “Hey Todoroki, what’s up?”

Todoroki looks down at Midoriya. “From an objective standpoint, I think it’s fairly clear that I’m stronger than you.”

Midoriya flinches, but nods, ducking his head. “Uh, yeah.”

Momo’s eyes widen. What’s going on?

“However, you’ve got All Might in your corner helping you out.” Todoroki points out.

Midoriya flinches again.

“I’m not here to pry about what’s going on between you two.” Todoroki narrows his eyes. “But know that I will beat you.”

Midoriya gasps.

Momo looks at the girls, particularly Asui and Uraraka since they’re the closest to Midoriya. But they seem just as confused as she is.

“What’s with all these declarations of war lately?” Kaminari leans back in his chair, joking.

Kirishima walks over, putting his hand on Todoroki’s shoulder. “Yeah, what’s the big deal, why are you picking a fight all of a sudden? And right before we get start-”

“We’re not here to be each others’ friends.” Todoroki scoffs, shrugging Kirishima’s hand off him. Then he turns around and walks away. “Don’t forget this isn’t a team effort.”

Momo stares at him, shaken.

Don’t forget this isn’t a team effort.

That’s what the Sports Festival is to the boys. And what it is to the other students outside of the Hero Course.

But for the girls…

“Wait a sec Todoroki.” Midoriya interrupts her thoughts.

Todoroki pauses, glancing over his shoulder.

“I don’t know what’s going through your head, or why you think you need to tell me that you’ll beat me.” Midoriya looks down. “And yeah, of course you’re better than me. In fact you probably have way more potential than anyone in the Hero Course. That’s why you got in so easily.”

Kirishima gapes at him, then smiles, waving his hands. “Midoriya maybe you’re being a little hard on yourself and us?”

“No.” Midoriya interrupts. “He’s right, you guys. All the other courses, they’re coming for us with everything they’ve got.” He lowers his arms, making two fists. “We’re all gonna have to fight to stand out.”

Todoroki turns to Midoriya fully.

“I’ll be aiming for the top too.” Midoriya lifts his head and his fists. “But that doesn’t mean I’ll forsake my classmates to get there. We aren’t in this alone. We’re in this together.”

Momo’s heart swells at the support.

Midoriya never challenges anyone, but to say that to Todoroki of all people…

Todoroki is silent for a bit.

Then he lifts his head and says. “Fine.”

Momo turns back to the girls, nerves starting to scratch at her.

Can they really win? Can they really beat Todoroki, Bakugo and who knows who else in the school?

The girls all look at her, as if waiting for her guidance.

Then Uraraka’s eyes harden with resolve and she bounces in place, drawing everyone’s attention.

“Then let’s all just do our best. We all have reasons why we need to win this.” Uraraka looks at the other girls meaningfully, then looks back at the rest of the room. “Just don’t forget why you’re fighting and don’t forget there are other people out there to fight with you.”

Slowly, the rest of the girls smile and Momo’s racing anxiety calms down as well.

It seems that Uraraka is better at leading others than she is. Even so…

“Let’s go.” Momo turns to the door.

The rest of the class nod and stand up, all of them heading out of the waiting room.

Momo isn’t sure what to make of Todoroki’s strange declaration or why it was aimed at Midoriya specifically. But that doesn’t change what she and the girls have to do.

They have to win.

Pony has always wanted to be here!

Ever since she was a little girl, watching her very first anime, Dinosaur King, all she wanted was to be a superhero in Japan who could speak Japanese and show everyone what she’s made of!

And now it’s happening!

She’s (learning to be) a superhero! In Japan!

Pony skips and hops as she and the rest of the girls walk out onto the field.

There’s so many screaming people and excited shouting and fireworks in the daytime and she’s never been so excited ! Pony and the rest of the girls are gonna be amazing!

Komori whimpers next to her. “Tsunotori, ho-how can you be so excited? There’s so many people!”

“Because it’s fun!” Pony giggles, happy and free.

Tokage smirks. “That’s our girl.”

Kodai nods, looking ahead. “Hmm.”

She’s always so quiet! But at least that means Pony isn’t the only one who struggles to understand her sometimes, so that’s nice.

“Look alive girls, remember our goal!” Kendo calls out, looking over her shoulder.

Shiozaki nods. “We are to assist the Class 1A women in their holy conquest.”

Yanagi lowers her head. “And get rid of their demon.”

That’s when Pony sees the demon in question.

He’s staring at them and drooling with an ugly smile on his face.

Pony can’t wait to kill him with one of her kicks!

Yaomomo from 1A waves at them and Pony waves back, smiling at her.

With that, the girls all line up, waiting for Midnight’s instructions. Then they can team up!

Midnight says something, then someone from 1A walks up to the stage, the boy that Monoma hates the most because they’re super similar, like twins. Then he says something that makes all the other students angry and they boo him off the stage.

Pony giggles. This is shaping up to be really fun!

Then Midnight declares that the first event will be an obstacle course!

Pony gasps and jumps up and down, laughing.

That means Team Gallop will be able to get to work right away and show off their power! Hurray!

“All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous contest.” Midnight explains, hands on her hips, looking at the hologram which changes to display the outside of the arena being circled by a stick figure. “The track is 4 kilometres on the outside of the stadium.”

That doesn’t sound like too bad of a race course. Though knowing UA it’ll be crazy difficult.

Midnight cracks her whip. “I don’t want to restrain anyone, at least not in this game.” She licks her lips, grinning at them. “As long as you don’t leave the course-” She throws her arm out. “You’re free to do whatever your heart desires!”

Pony can’t wait!

“Now then, take your places contestants!” Midnight orders.

Pony runs over to the 1A girls, the 1B girls following her.

Soon all 13 of them meet up.

Yaomomo speaks up. “Team Gallop, I believe that you should be the ones to take on this challenge. Do you think you can handle the task?”

Uraraka nods. “I sure can, Yaomomo!”

Yanagi nods. “We’ll kill this.”

Tokage smirks. “I think I can lend you guys a hand.”

Pony cheers. “Let’s go girls, let’s go!”

The girls all put their hands together, chanting. “Let’s go girls, let’s go!”

They throw their hands up in the air and then they run over to the start line.

Reiko has been preparing for this day with the rest of the girls for 2 weeks. She was up late praying to the spirits that haunt her home to lend her their strength in this battle.

And now it’s time for Team Gallop to make their move.

“We’re not allowed to use our Quirks until the final light goes out.” Uraraka calls out. “So girls stay as close to me as you can so I can tag you as fast as I can!”

Reiko nods. “I’ll make you float above the others, so you can be even faster.”

Uraraka gasps and smiles. “You’re a genius, Yanagi, well done!”

Reiko shrugs.

Uraraka is still the first to die in a horror movie, but she’s gotten a little smarter. Cute.

Tokage pulls off her wrist, inspecting it and then putting it back to the rest of her body. “This is gonna be a test for my body.”

Tsunotori throws up her arms. “We’re gonna be amazing!”

“Look alive girls!” Kendo orders, pointing up. “The countdown is starting!”

Reiko looks up.

A light goes out.

Here it comes.

A second light goes out.

The fight of their lives.

The third light goes out.

“BEGIN!”

Reiko lifts up Uraraka, sending her floating above the girls. She hears her tagging the other girls on their heads, shoulders, hands and they all start to float. Reiko reaches out with her Quirk, grabbing onto them.

Then Kendo reaches a hand to Reiko and she takes it, floating above the ground just as it’s entirely coated in ice.

Reiko grits her teeth.

She wouldn’t have wanted to be frozen here. Damn that Todoroki.

Reiko links arms with Uraraka and the girls behind them grab them, as do Tokage’s arms. She knows Tsunotori’s horns are in the back, hooked into the girls’ clothes to push them forward.

“Let’s go!” Tokage orders.

And they’re off.

Reiko directs them forward, focusing on not dropping Uraraka’s weight or any of the weightless girls. They feel so light, it’s hard to remember that she’s holding anything more than Uraraka with her Quirk. And Reiko can use the objects she possesses to carry herself, so at least she doesn’t have to focus on her own body.

They fly above all the other students frozen in place by Todoroki’s tricks, or the ones crushed in by the amount of bodies in the doorway. It’s like an endless sea of wiggling zombies.

A bottleneck style trap would be useful in the apocalypse.

The sunlight shines on them and it seems they aren’t the only ones who can fly. There’s a boy with a bird head and a shadow in his stomach who is sort of hoping above the others. The angry boy Bakugo is blasting himself through the air, though he has to come down to the ground while screaming at Todoroki.

Reiko can’t wait to see the look of horror on his face when he realises he’s lost.

Then the robots appear before them.

“Team Ruin, protect Team Gallop!” Yaoyorozu orders. “Take out those robots!”

“You got it, Leader!” Ashido calls out cheerfully.

Then Kendo extends her arms above their heads, smacking and bashing the robots out of their way, while Ashido and Komori use their Quirks on any robots coming at their sides.

“What, oh what, oh what is happening on the field?!” Present Mic screams. “Are the girls from 1A and 1B working together?!”

Eraserhead speaks up. “While it is uncommon for students to work together in this stage of the competition, it’s not against the rules. Teamwork is important for Pros.”

“It looks like all of the girls are flying together, thanks to Reiko Yanagi’s Quirk Poltergeist! But I thought she could only hold a certain amount of weight?!” Present Mic shouts. “Is it because Ochako Uraraka is there?! Her Quirk removes the weight from anything she touches!”

“Those two are also getting help from Tokage and Tsunotori, who seem to be helping with their speed and coordination.” Eraserhead continues. “While Kendo, Komori and Ashido defend the rest of the group from the robots.”

“What an amazing display of teamwork from girls who aren’t even in the same classes!” Present Mic cheers. “Go, girls, go!”

Reiko grins.

Oh she’s going alright.

The girls weave in and out of the Zero Pointers, quickly overtaking Todoroki on the ground and Bakugo even further back.

Reiko hopes someone is recording the look on Bakugo’s face as he realises he’s losing.

Hitoshi looks up at the girls racing through the sky, flying past the robots.

Definitely for the best that he didn’t join their exercises. He would’ve made sure that formation failed after it got him through the hardest of the obstacles.

“It’s like a buffay of babes…” Mineta gasps as he runs next to him, drooling. “I need to eat.”

Hitoshi has had to spend a week with this disgrace of a human being and it’s only made him want to be a Hero more than ever. No way can he let someone like this go free.

“We can chow down later. We have a race to win, remember?” Hitoshi asks, using his Quirk, going fishing for the maggot’s mind.

Mineta takes the bait. “Who says we can’t eat and run?”

Ping!

Mineta freezes, eyes glazed over, helpless to obey.

Hitoshi would’ve loved to just tie the guy up or kick him off the course or something else dramatic and big.

But he’d still rather stay under the radar for as long as possible and keep his Quirk quiet.

“Walk off the race track.” Hitoshi orders.

Mineta does so, leaving the bounds of the obstacle course.

Almost immediately, robots grab him and take him away for leaving.

Hitoshi smiles and continues on in the course.

He’s done his deed for the girls. It wasn’t even hard.

Now he has to keep up with them.

Ochako grits her teeth, fighting against the nausea, remembering the ginger and honey she had that morning hoping it would keep her from vomiting up her breakfast on the field.

With how fast they’re moving and how many people she’s floating, Ochako isn’t sure how much longer she can keep this up. It’s a pretty intense strain on her Quirk and her stomach feels like it’s working itself up in knots and twists and curves.

“We made it through the Robo Inferno!” Ashido cheers.

“Nice work girls!” Kendo calls out. “Great job on keeping us steady while we used our attacks Team Gallop! Good defensive work Team Ruin!”

Ochako is pretty sure she’s gonna hurl if they don’t get to the halfway point soon. She’s been training her stamina as hard as she could but clearly it doesn’t match up with the reality of using her Quirk in this way for this long.

“For those of who you thought the first obstacle was easy…” Present Mic laughs. “Let’s see how you feel about the second one?! IT’S THE FALL!”

That’s when Ochako sees it.

A huge ravine full of barely standing pieces of earth only just connected together with thin ropes of string.

“Team Gallop, can you keep going?!” Yaoyorozu calls out.

Ochako isn’t sure if she can answer her, bile starting to scratch at the back of her throat.

“Don’t worry about me, I can keep going!” Tokage grins.

Tsunotori shouts somewhere behind them. “Faster, faster!”

Yanagi turns to her. “Uraraka?”

Ochako looks at her.

Yanagi ducks her head. “If you need to rest, there’s no shame in that.”

Ochako blinks at Yanagi.

She knows there’s no shame. But…

But the girls are all giving it their all to keep each other safe.

Ochako can’t let them down now!

“I can keep going!” Ochako shouts, swallowing down her bile.

Yanagi nods. “Me too.”

“Then let’s continue and fly over!” Yaoyorozu orders.

So Ochako renews her hold on her Quirk and does as ordered.

She can do it! She’ll prove it to the world, to her friends and to her parents!

Just you wait guys!

I’ll show you just how amazing of a Hero I can be!

Somewhere behind her, she hears Bakugo screaming and Todoroki’s ice forming faster and faster.

Ochako grits her teeth.

Izuku runs as fast as he can, hardly believing Present Mic’s announcements.

Have the girls really gotten that far already?!

All the other students are running as fast as they can around the Robo Inferno, while Bakugo and Todoroki try to keep up with the girls.

Izuku holds the hunk of robot tighter.

He has to get to the next round, so he can help them!

Because that’s what Heroes do.

“And now we’re finally approaching the last obstacle, and it’s one you better tread carefully on.” Present Mic shrieks. “YOU’RE STEPPING ON A MINEFIELD!”

Setsuna snorts. “He does know we’re flying, right?”

“I imagine he’s worried our formation could fall apart.” Yaoyorozu points out. “Girls, once we get to the entrance, do you want to stay together?”

Setsuna blinks.

Kendo turns to her. “Why would we split up?”

Yaoyorozu turns to her. “Team Gallop have done amazing already, but we can’t push them too hard in just the first round! We need to conserve our energy for the second round and the tournament.”

Setsuna hums.

Well she guesses Yaoyorozu has a point.

“Plus the minefield and the fall will likely keep the other students busy for a while and I haven’t heard Bakugo or Todoroki behind us for at least 5 minutes.” Yaoyorozu adds. “But Team Gallop, it’s your choice. Just know none of us will be upset if you choose to split up.”

Setsuna hums, thinking about it as they float above the land mines.

Well she’s not too strained right now, but she knows Uraraka has more Quirk backlash than  her. It would be for the best if they split, so she’d have a fighting chance.

“I’m down to split once we hit the entrance. Plus it’ll be fun to see who’s the fastest of us.” Setsuna smirks. “Since it doesn’t matter who wins this part.”

“I can stop!” Tsunotori calls out in the back.

Yanagi nods. “I could be persuaded to stop possessing you all.”

Uraraka gasps, panting. “A-are you sure Yaoyorozu?”

“I’m certain.” Yaoyorozu points forward. “Once we hit the shadows, Team Gallop is to disengage!”

“Right!” Team Gallop calls out.

Only 30 seconds later, they split up and Setsuna brings herself back together.

This’ll be fun.

Toru has been invisible for as long as she can remember.

Not just from her Quirk, but in her life. Her parents work all the time, so barely remember she’s at home waiting for them. Her teachers hardly noticed her in class and her classmates would tease her by talking about her behind her back when she was right there. Even her doctors would often dismiss her pain or worries or medical needs.

Even so…

Toru has always been loud. She’s sung loudly, she’s moved loudly, she’s done all she can just to avoid vanishing from people’s lives.

So just once-

Toru forces herself to run faster, run faster, run faster-

Just once she wants to shine for everyone to see!

Toru breaks out into the sunlight-

“TORU HAGAKURE FROM CLASS 1A IS OUR CHAMPION!”

Toru trips over her own feet, falling onto the ground.

What?!

She lifts herself up, looking up.

But it’s all over the screens.

Her name and her body, running into the arena, with the English word “WINNER” blazed upon the bottom in white on a gold banner.

The arena is screaming her name, there’s confetti falling from the sky all over her and in every direction she turns there’s someone smiling at her.

“WHO COULD’VE EXPECTED SUCH AN AMAZING TEAM EFFORT IN THE FIRST STAGE OF THE COMPETITION?! TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK, EH ERASERHEAD?!”

“By working together, the girls were able to combine their strengths in ways they couldn’t have done so alone. I’m proud of them.”

Toru’s eyes fill with tears, spilling over.

Aizawa said he was proud of her.

One of her teachers acknowledged her.

“Hagakure!”

Hands grab Toru and she squeaks as she’s thrown up in the air, then caught by several hands. And they throw her and catch her and throw her and catch her.

And Toru laughs with the rest of the girls from her course, heart racing.

For just a moment…

Toru smiles and waves at the crowd, being held up on Ashido and Kendo’s shoulders.

For just a moment, Toru feels like a shining star.

She looks at the board displaying the order the rest of the girls came in.

1: Toru Hagakure

2: Ibara Shiozaki

3: Tsuyu Asui

4: Ochako Uraraka

5: Momo Yaoyorozu

6: Mina Ashido

7: Kyoka Jirou

8: Reiko Yanagi

9: Itsuka Kendo

10: Yui Kodai

11: Kinoko Komori

12: Pony Tsunotori

13: Setsuna Tokage

Toru jumps off the girls, standing on her own two feet.

“We’re amazing, aren’t we?!” Tsunotori shouts, jumping up and down.

Tokage gets her in a headlock. “Damn right we are!”

Asui offers her hand to Shiozaki. “You were really cool, ribbit.”

Shiozaki shakes her hand, smiling. “Thank you, as were you Asui.”

Uraraka squeals and grabs Yanagi, throwing her around. “Yanagi, Yanagi, you and I are so awesome! You’re the best!”

Yanagi huffs and puts her feet down, looking to the side. “We can be pretty spooky.”

Jirou picks up the confetti, smirking. “God, does UA ever stop being dramatic about this stuff?”

Yaoyorozu chuckles as the confetti falls into her hair. “I hope they never stop.”

Kendo offers Komori her fist. “Komori I am so proud of you, you did so great and you didn’t let your stage freight get to you once!”

Komori whimpers but returns Kendo’s fist bump. “I, I hope I can keep it up, Class Rep.”

Kodai nods. “Hmm.”

Toru hopes so too, as the rest of the boys follow in.

Chapter 5: Strategy

"This is what makes us girls, we all stick together 'cause we put our love first" Lana Del Rey

Chapter Text

Kayama smiles as she watches her girls celebrating, heart racing for them.

They got through that last obstacle so easily, but now it’s time to put them to a real test.

“The first game for the First Years is finally over and what a game it was!” Kayama smiles as she looks down at them from her stage, cracking her whip. “As a woman, I couldn’t be more proud of the female students for banding together as they have today. Well done, ladies!”

All of the girls immediately perk up, smiling wide and giving each other high fives.

Kayama puts her finger under her lip. “Let’s take a quick look at the standing, shall we?”

The screen displays the numbers, proud and loud. All of her girls have the top spots and the ones just after. The only girls who aren’t in the top spot include one of the support course girls (40) and a general education girl (42). Mineta didn’t make it through it seems, oh what a shame that he just walked off the course.

Kayama can see him crying in the student stands, already upset to have lost. What a pity.

“Only the top 42 will advance to the next round, but don’t be too let down if you didn’t make the cut.” Kayama smiles, licking her lips. “We’ve prepared other occasions for you to shine.”

The Recreational Games are certainly a fun time. It’ll be entertaining to see the students squirm for the chance to stand out. If her girls are smart, they’ll win this next round and won’t participate in the games since they may just exhaust themselves before their fight.

“Now the real fun is about to begin.” Kayama chuckles. “The chance to fully move yourselves into the limelight. Give it your best!”

The World of Heroes has always rewarded those who focus only on themselves and advance to the top through their own power alone. Kayama just hopes the lights and the fame won’t corrupt and divide her girls, or be too much for them.

Kayama cracks her whip and the wheel spins. “Let’s see what we have in store for you next. Will your wildest fantasies come to life, or could it be that the waiting is torture?!” Kayama puts on her glasses and waves her arm. “Prepare yourselves for… THIS!”

The wheel stops on Cavalry Battle.

This was always going to be a team activity, but her girls are about to learn why being at the top can be more a burden than a blessing.

Stay strong girls.

“Allow me to explain.” Kayama turns to the board, as images appear to assist the visual learners. “The participants will form teams of 2 to 4 people as they see fit. In theory it’s the same as a regular playground game.” She looks over her shoulder. “But there’s one difference. Each player has been assigned a point value based on the results of the Obstacle Course.”

The screen changes, displaying each of the students’ values.

“Now then, point assignments go up in increments of 5 starting from the bottom. For example, 42nd is worth 5 points, 41 is worth 10 points. And the point value assigned to the first contestant is…” Kayama takes a deep breath, then shouts for dramatics. “10 Million!”

She sees Hagakure go still, the stillest she’s been in all the time Kayama has known her.

“First years, these are the rules you’ll abide by!” Kayama gestures to the screen.

The visual demonstrations match her words.

“The game itself will last 15 minutes. Individual point values will be added together to reach your team total. Everyone will know how much you’re worth thanks to your headbands. Swipe as many headbands as you can to raise your team’s score.” Kayama pulls out a mock headband with 50 points and shows it off. “Stolen headbands must be worn from the neck up, so the more you steal the harder it’ll be to manage them. Even if your headband is stolen or your team falls down, you can keep playing until time runs out!”

It’ll be anyone’s game.

“This is going to be rough.” Kayam warns. “You may use your Quirks as much as you like. But there are still rules. Make a team fall down on purpose and I’ll slap you with a red card. You’ll be disqualified!”

The timer changes.

“You have 15 minutes to choose your teams and only 16 contestants from the highest scoring teams will advance.” Kayama cracks her whip.

The girls all look at each other, clearly worried.

“It’s survival of the fittest, where those at the bottom have the chance to overthrow the top!” Kayama smacks her whip. “I hope you’re prepared for this.”

She really does. More than anything, she wants her girls to survive this battle.

Momo can tell that Hagakure is about to have a panic attack from the announcement.

“10 Million…” Hagakure falls to her knees. “I wanted attention, but not like this! This is way too much!”

Uraraka turns to her, putting her hand on her shoulder. “Don’t give up just yet! You’re not alone in this Hagakure.”

Hagakure turns to her. “Uraraka…”

Uraraka smiles at her. “We’re going to be working together, remember? The burden is gonna be shared between all of us.”

Hagakure sniffles and hugs her tightly. “Thank you Uraraka!”

Momo stares at the scene.

Again, Uraraka was able to intervene, providing emotional support to their classmates while Momo did nothing.

Momo curls her hands into fists.

She’s the Leader. She has to do what she can to help the girls.

“Let’s focus on forming the best teams possible!” Momo orders.

Kendo turns to her. “Yaoyorozu, there’s only 13 of us though. We’ll have a hard time making enough stable teams amongst ourselves.”

She’s right. They need help.

“Hey!”

The girls all turn to see Midoriya running over to them.

“If you girls need an extra hand, you can count me in.” Midoriya offers, coming to a stop before them.

Uraraka grins and pumps her fist. “I knew we could count on you Deku, thanks a lot!”

Midoriya starts blushing and covers his face, stuttering.

“Don’t forget me.”

The girls squeak in surprise as Shinsou appears beside them.

“Shinsou.” Jirou frowns at him, folding her arms. “How do we know we can trust you?”

Shinsou smirks at her. “I got rid of the purple rat. And if I’m on the same team as a few of you, then there’s a guarantee I’ll be winning since you’ll all be protecting each other.”

Momo remembers when Jirou told her about Shinsou’s true motives.

But they can’t afford to turn him away.

“We accept your help, Shinsou. And should you not betray us in this event or the Tournament, we’ll help you afterwards.” Momo puts her hand on her heart.

Shinsou nods. “Good plan.”

Momo only hopes it is.

“Okay, that’s 15 of us. We could make a few teams now, but Midnight said that it would be 16 people moving on.” Kendo looks around. “We’re gonna need one more ally.”

She’s right.

“Hehehe, oh perfect, you haven’t made up your minds yet.”

Momo turns.

A girl with pink dreadlocks wearing crossed goggles and a bunch of support gear is floating over to them on some floating shoes.

“TEAM UP WITH ME, PERSON IN FIRST PLACE!” The girl shouts in Hagakure’s face.

Hagakure squeaks. “Who are you?!”

The girl takes off her goggles, revealing yellow eyes. “I’m Mei Hatsume, a Support Course student. And if you’re on my team, you get to use all my babies!”

Momo blinks in surprise.

“Babies?!” The entire group shouts.

“I’d like to use your current fame to my personal advantage, 10 Million!” Hatsume smiles, hands on her hips. “If I team up with you, I’ll be on the team that everyone is watching, I’ll be in the spotlight!” She leans closer and closer with every word it seems. “That means my babies will inevitably be seen by the big company CEOs tuning into the Sports Festival! Meaning this is the best way for me and my marvellous gadgets to get recruited!”

Okay, Momo thinks she understands what she wants.

She looks at Kendo to get her opinion.

Kendo rubs the back of her head. “Well being able to use support gear will give us an advantage we sorely need since all the other students will be gunning for us.”

“Exactly!” Hatsume turns to her. “So long as whoever I fight in the next round agrees to wear my gear, I’ll even give you the win! I don’t care about advancing beyond the first round. So work with me 10 Million!”

Well that’s certainly an enticing offer.

Momo nods. “We accept your proposal Hatsume.”

With that, they now have 16 people.

“What do you think would be the best strategy?” Tokage asks, arms behind her head. “Do you think we should split the teams based on their classes and have the 1B teams protect the 1A Teams?”

Momo shakes her head. “No. Rather, I think we should do our best to preserve all our allies and ensure we all advance to the next round.”

The 1B girls have agreed that stopping Mineta is more important than winning the tournament, but at the same time…

“You’ve all been an immense help and given us so much support. I’m sorry that after this fight, we won’t be able to help you.” Momo bows to Kendo and the other 1B girls.

They’ve been such strong allies and yet, after this-

“It’s alright, no need to apologise.” Kendo waves her off.

Momo lifts her head, shocked by Kendo’s honour.

Kendo smiles. “Next year, when Mineta is gone, you can just help us 1B girls win the tournament, good deal?”

She looks at the other 1B girls, who are all smiling in agreement.

“The class rep speaks for all of us, Yaomomo.” Shiozaki crosses her arms across her body. “You are a holy saint and we are happy to aid you in your quest, even if we may not see the victory.”

Momo stares at the girls in awe.

And nods, turning to Kendo. “Rest assured, next year it will be your turn in the spotlight. I guarantee it.”

Kendo nods.

Now they need to start strategizing and splitting up the teams.

This won’t be easy.

But they have to succeed.

Mei doesn’t really know why the girls are so tense about the whole thing, but she knows a good chance to advance when she sees it.

“I know you’re going to split up teams based on who’s going to work well with who, but I will be on 10 Million’s team!” Mei puts her hand on the invisible girl’s shoulder. “I need to be with the star of the show after all!”

10 Million stares at her. “My name is Hagakure, ya know.”

Mei puts her suitcase on the ground. “The Support Course specialises in creating equipment that helps Heroes deal with their Quirks and enhance their skills!” She starts pulling things out, letting the girls look. “I have a ton of powerful babies I brought with me, so I’m sure you’ll find something you like floating around my arsenal!”

The girls and the two boys gasps in awe.

“Wow, Hatsume, you’re amazing.” The green boy says. “Is that jetpack based on Air Jet: The Buster Hero?!”

Hatsume laughs, she likes the green one. “You have a good eye! Isn’t he awesome?!”

Green nods. “I love that guy!”

Oh she likes this one. He looks smart enough to keep up with her and based on his crazy attitude in the race, he’s mad enough to match her there too! Rare to find that in men.

She can’t wait to make some babies with him!

“Hatsume.” Black Ponytail speaks up. “How many of those jetpacks do you have?”

“Just the one!” Hatsume giggles and pulls out. “But I have 3 pairs of Hover Souls! If the Rider wears the Jetpack and the rest of the team wear my Hover Souls, then you’ll get a team that can fly!”

Green gasps. “That’s amazing Hatsume! You’re incredible!”

Mei puffs out her chest, grinning. “Oh I know.”

“Oh!” One of the brown haired girls that helped them fly raises her hand and grabs the hand of a white haired girl. “I can make us weightless and Yanagi can then control our movements while we weigh nothing! We could spend the entire game in the air!”

“Excellent!” Mei grabs her hand. “I want you on my team!”

And since she has 10 Million on her team too, that makes 4. Mei loves it when a plan comes together.

“Let’s get you in my babies so you can show them off already!” Mei cackles.

This is going to be incredible!

Neito always knew that women were ruthless. But he didn’t think the women in his class would sink so low.

“They’ve betrayed us in 1B by teaming up with the pigs in 1A.” Neito preaches to his classmates.

The other boys stare at him, clearly just as angry as he is.

“They’re so full of themselves, like the explosive boy. And we can’t forget that Endeavour’s son is in 1A as well.” Neito scoffs. “Most of the 1A girls didn’t even use their Quirks in the race. They just used our classmates to their advantage.”

It makes his blood boil.

1A are the worst.

“Why are those assholes stars? Why did our classmates betray our strategy to work with them?” Neito looks around. “Does anyone know why?”

The boys say nothing.

“It’s because they’re fools.” Neito smiles. “Let’s show them what happens when you betray 1B for fame. And let’s show the world that we’re better than those 1A pigs.”

He’s going to get back at them, one way or the other.

“Is anyone gonna tell him to chill?” Bondo asks.

Shoda groans. “When has he ever listened?”

Neito smirks and starts planning. “Here’s how we’ll work together…”

“Well that’s one team down.” Setsuna notes. “Now we gotta make 3 more.”

Yaoyorozu nods, holding her chin. “It makes the most sense for Kendo and Tokage to be riders. Your Quirks would be more effective if you didn’t have to hold anyone.”

Setsuna blinks and grins. She’s glad Yaoyorozu is thinking of that.

“I should be on Yaoyorozu’s team.”

All heads turn to Kodai, the girl who rarely says more than “Hmm”.

Kodai ignores their staring and continues. “I could shrink or grow anything Yaoyorozu makes and then it could be thrown as weapons that suddenly expand or shrink when I release them.”

Setsuna grins. “I like that strategy Kodai.”

Kodai nods, silent once again.

“In fact, I want in on that strategy!” Setsuna splits off her hands and makes a few other pieces of her body. “I could easily use my body to send those items flying and inflict some pretty intense damage. Plus I’d be good at stealing headbands.”

Yaoyorozu nods. “I agree! You would be an excellent asset to that strategy.”

Setsuna likes being an asset, hehe.

“I could also make roller skates to make us faster.” Yaoyorozu pulls off her jacket and roller skates start to appear in her arms. “What size shoe are you, Kodai?”

“WAIT!”

The three of them stop, turning to Hatsume.

“How are you doing that?!” Hatsume asks in awe, staring at Yaoyorozu’s arm like she’s never seen anything like it.

Yaoyorozu smiles and finishes making her roller skates, offering them to Hatsume. “It’s my Quirk, Creation. I have the ability to turn my fat molecules into any non-living thing. I can make organic and inorganic materials.”

“Fascinating…” Hatsume gasps, handling the skates gently. “Would you ever be interested in making babies together?!”

Yaoyorozu chokes, gaping at Hatsume.

Setsuna laughs long and hard and loud, falling to her knees, heart pounding against her ribs.

“With my brilliant mind and your incredible body, we could make anything!” Hatsume holds Yaoyorozu’s hands, leaning up into her space. “Come on, come on, make babies with me!”

Setsuna laughs even harder, looking at Yaoyorozu’s deer in the headlights look.

“That is hardly appropriate, to make such a bold proposal to someone you’ve just met!” Shiozaki lectures. “God said that one should only partake in such activities with someone they’re married to! You must stop this Godless behaviour immediately!”

Setsuna laughs and pounds the ground, gasping for air.

“Enough!” Kendo shouts, gently separating Hatsume and Yaoyorozu. “You two can talk inventions later. For now we have a Cavalry Battle to win.”

Hatsume nods. “Of course, of course, but as soon as this is over I’m taking you to eat out Yaoyorozu! Gotta get you good and fed to make babies with of course!”

Yaoyorozu nods, staring at her with a completely red face. “Sure???”

Setsuna laughs her last and takes a deep breath, standing up.

God that was the funniest thing that has happened in her entire life. She wishes she had a camera recording it.

Shiozaki puts her hand on Yaoyorozu’s shoulder. “Are you alright, Yaoyorozu?”

Yaoyorozu nods. “I’m fine. I think?”

Shiozaki scowls at Hatsume. “I will be on your team, to complete your formation and to protect you from that Godless girl’s unsightly intentions.” She extends her vines. “I could also help Tokage with throwing items and extracting headbands.”

Yaoyorozu takes a deep breath and nods. “Yes please, your help would be invaluable on our team, Shiozaki.”

Kodai nods. “Hmm.”

Setsuna smiles. “Glad to be working with you all.”

They’re gonna be one of the coolest teams on the field. The boys won’t know what hit them.

Katsuki snarls as he watches the girls conspiracing and nattering away together, useless Deku hanging out with them too.

How the fuck did all the No Name Extras beat him?!

“Bakugo!” Shitty Hair runs up to him, waving his hand. “You should team up with me. You need a strong horse, right?” He activates his Quirk, going hard as a rock. “That’ll be me.”

Katsuki scowls at him. He doesn’t have time for Shitty Hair right now.

“My Quirk was made for this!” Shitty Hair puts his fist against his chest. “Let’s go charging into battle together. 10 Million, all the way.”

Katsuki blinks at him.

Then smirks.

“Yeah, we’ll get the 10 Million from the Invisible Bitch.” He turns to the girls. “And then we’ll kill Deku!”

That damn nerd can’t keep beating him. He refuses to let him do that!

“I don’t agree with killing them, they are our classmates, man.” Shitty Hair puts his hand on Katsuki’s shoulder. “You really need to chill, bro.”

Katsuki snarls.

Fuck what Shitty Hair says.

They’re gonna be the indisputable champions of the game, just wait!

He’s gonna keep his promise to win this entire thing!

Because Heroes always win, damnit!

Mina smiles as she turns to Tsunotori. “Isn’t this exciting?! I’m glad we get to work together again!”

Tsunotori agrees, bouncing up and down. “Teamwork! Yay! Friendship! Yay!”

A sigh gets their attention and they blink, looking at Midoriya.

He’s looking at his hands like they hold the secret of the universe or something.

“Something got ya down, Midoriya?” Mina asks, leaning into his field of vision.

Midoriya gasps and looks away, blushing. “K-kinda! Sorry, I just…” He sighs. “You know I’m really bad at controlling my Quirk. I’m afraid that I’ll just be useless to you guys. Especially since you all have so much cooler Quirks.”

Tsunotori blinks. “Bad control?”

“Oh yeah, when Midoriya uses it, he can break an entire building into pieces!” Mina bounces up, throwing her arms up. “But he breaks all the bones in his arms!”

Midoriya pouts. “You don’t have to sound so excited about it.”

“But you’re such a cool dodger! You’re fast and you’re strong and you’re smart! Not to mention how your Quirk Analysis helped us all out these past 2 weeks.” Mina jumps up into his space. “You don’t have to use your Quirk to be cool, Midoriya!”

Midoriya stares at her, blushing. “Ashido…”

“What is your Quirk, Midoriya?” Kendo asks, walking over.

Midoriya stutters. “Oh, I, it’s called Superpower. It’s just a strength enhancer.”

Kendo hums. “How strong are you without using it?”

Midoriya blinks at her. “Uhh, 700 pounds is my warm up.”

Mina’s eyes widen.

Tsunotori gasps.

Kendo blinks and grins. “That’s your warm up?”

Midoriya nods. “But, I can carry a lot more than that once I’m warmed up. I’d say I could probably carry 1000 pounds safely right now thanks to the warm up of the Obstacle Course.”

Mina whistles. “Damn boy, you’re strong!”

Midoriya turns bright pink, which is adorable. He’s like a strong, cute strawberry.

“Well I can blow up my fists to become a lot stronger and tougher. But I can only use my Quirk so well if I have a strong rider supporting me.” Kendo puts her hand on Midoriya’s shoulder. “Think you could do that for me, Midoriya?”

Midoriya stares at her with wide eyes, then nods. “Yeah, of course! I’ll do my best to support you all!”

“Great.” Kendo hums and looks at Mina. “Hey Ashido, can you only make really corrosive acid? Or can you make harmless stuff?”

Mina grins and makes some goop. “Oh, I can make stuff that’s as acidic as lemon juice or battery oil.”

Midoriya’s eyes widen. “That’s incredible Ashido!”

Kendo hums. “In that case, if you made the ground slippery and Tsunotori gave us power, then we could be really fast.”

Tsunotori gasps and grins, jumping up and down. “Yes, yes, yes I can help!”

Mina cheers and jumps with her. “Let’s do our best!”

She can’t wait to do her best!

Shouto observes the girls strategizing, frowning in concern.

He wanted Yaoyorozu for his team. Her adaptability would’ve helped create a very stable formation if combined with his power, Iida’s Quirk and Kaminari’s Quirk. But it seems she’s too occupied with the other girls. Shouto couldn’t get to them fast enough to have them join his team.

Shouto looks at the stands, frowning at the sight of his father glaring down at him.

How did Shouto underestimate the women in the Hero course so badly? How did they do so well when they hadn’t even registered as threats to him in his initial assessment? How did Shouto completely miss their potential?

He scowls at Endeavour and looks down at his left side.

He can’t keep thinking like this. Endeavour’s sick beliefs are clouding his judgement of his classmates. He can’t get stronger and be better than Endeavour if he remains this way.

Shouto looks at Iida, the only person on his team so far.

He needs to figure out a stable formation with himself and Iida. Kaminari will be useless to him without Yaoyorozu there to defend them against his electricity.

“Who else would you like on your team, Todoroki?” Iida asks.

Shouto looks around. “I don’t know.”

But he will form an effective team and advance in the tournament.

And he’ll prove to his bastard old man he doesn’t need his fire.

Kinoko stares at the rest of the girls already in teams, feeling nervous and afraid.

“Now it’s just us.”

Kinoko turns to the voice.

Jirou is standing in front of her, Asui and Shinsou.

“Here’s the plan.” Jirou looks at them. “We’re going to handle more sneak attacks. While the other teams will focus on staying in first, second and third place, we’re going to make sure we stay in the game just out of sight.”

Asui blinks, putting her finger on her chin. “Wouldn’t it make more sense to bring attention to ourselves so we can shine?”

“Maybe.” Jirou looks at Shinsou and Kinoko. “But we have one person with stage fright and one person who is trying to stay invisible to the cameras.”

Kinoko lowers her head. She’s doing her best to fight it.

Wait, staying invisible to the cameras?

Shinsou smirks. “Smart, glad you noticed that.”

“It’ll be better if we just focus on staying in the game. Plus we can use more sneak attacks.” Jirou glares at Shinsou. “I get you wanna keep your Quirk a secret, but I need at least some hints so I know how to avoid fucking with you when you use it.”

Shinsou sighs, rubbing the back of his head. “You Hero Course kids are so bossy.”

Jirou continues to glare at him, waiting for his response with har arms crossed.

Kinoko nervously looks between the two.

Asui ribbits as she looks at them.

Are they gonna fight?

Shinsou glares at them. “I can make people freeze for a few seconds. But it only works if they respond to me. I can also use ventriloquism to sound like someone else. If you cover for me by talking to people, they won’t even realise they spoke to me or that I used my Quirk.”

Jirou hums. “Sounds interesting. I can work with that.”

Shinsou sighs and nods, lowering his arm. “Glad we can agree on that then.”

Kinoko lets out a breath of relief.

They have such strong personalities, it’s a little scary to get between them. She’s glad they resolved it.

Jirou turns to her. “Komori.”

Kinoko squeaks and stands up straighter. “Yes?”

“Do you think you can use your Quirk to freak out the boys in 1A?” Jirou smirks. “It’ll keep them too busy to focus on fighting.”

Kinoko shudders. “I, I can try.”

She’s always been a bit afraid of using her Quirk on people. She doesn’t want others to hate her anymore than they already do. But…

Jirou smiles. “Awesome. You’re gonna be vital to this, so do your best.”

Kinoko nods. “I will.”

She’s not a good fighter, but she’ll do her best to use her Quirk to help the other girls. Even with all these people watching.

She has to.

Asui hums. “I can use my tongue to help steal headbands too.”

Jirou nods. “It looks like we all agree on our roles then.”

Kinoko nods.

She just hopes she won’t let the girls down.

Itsuka walks over to Jirou, Hagakure, Tokage and Yaoyorozu.

“So, what’s the general plan, Leader?” Itsuka asks, hand on her hip.

Yaoyorozu speaks up. “Team Hagakure will spend the match flying for as long as they can, to grab the attention of the other teams. Team Tokage will use a lot of long range attacks to keep the other teams occupied, such as using Shiozaki’s vines to steal headbands and using my items as projectiles. Team Kendo will also focus on a lot of attacking, using Kendo’s big fists, Ashido’s acid and of course Tsunotori’s horns. Finally, Team Jirou will mostly focus on sneak attacks.” She looks at Hagakure. “Team Hagakure, Team Tokage and Team Kendo will take turns holding the 10 Million headband, so each team has some time to rest in between attacks and to allow Team Jirou the chance to stay hidden.”

Itsuka hums.

It’s a pretty solid plan.

Yaoyorozu is clearly a lot smarter than her. Itsukia is glad she’s the leader.

Itsuka whistles. “You really thought of everything, Yaoyorozu.”

Itsuka hopes she can be as good as Yaoyorozu is at this leadership thing at some point. Plus all the planning.

She needs to get better and be the Class Rep 1B need.

“The headbands are gonna get shared soon, so let’s split up.” Itsuka suggests.

The girls all nod to each other and return to their teams.

Itsuka just hopes all their planning and work will be enough.

Kayama looks at the field, proud of her girls and a bit surprised at some of the combinations she’s seen between the boys. But she’ll have to wait and see how those play out.

“Hey, Midnight.”

Kayama blinks, looking down. It's the Gen Ed girl who got to 42nd place.

“I didn’t actually want to be in this Sports Festival thing, so can I just drop out?” The girl asks, hands in her pockets. “I couldn’t get in on any of the teams anyway.”

Kayama’s eyes widen.

She kneels down, closer to the girl. “Are you sure? This is a good opportunity for you.”

The girl scowls. “To join the Hero Course? Maybe Shinsou wants to, but I want no part in this. I’m only here to study Hero Law and bring Heroes to jail, not to become one. Now let me drop out.”

Kayama hums.

It’s pretty common for future lawyers to study at UA and get acquainted with Hero law.

“If you really want to, then yes I give you permission to drop out.” Kayama nods.

She has to respect what the kids decide to do with themselves. She can’t make them do anything.

The girl nods. “Thanks.”

With that, she walks off the field.

Kayama sighs.

It’s a shame to see an opportunity go to waste, but she has other things to do now that time is up and the headbands have been assigned.

The alarm goes off and Kayama slips back into the Midnight persona.

“Oh goodie, time to get this party started.” She says, stretching.

This’ll be fun.

“Hey, hey, look alive!” Hizashi calls over the mic. “After 15 minutes, to make teammates and talk strategy, 11 Cavalry Teams are prepared to go head to head.”

Shouta groans over the mic. “I see some unexpected student combinations.”

“Come on, everyone get your hands in the air!” Hizashi encourages. “It’s time for an aerial view of the Battle Royal! Let me hear ya SCREAM!”

“Okay all you First Years, I hope you’re happy with your chosen teams!” Hizashi calls out. “Let’s get this party started! One final countdown before the game starts!”

Kayama readies herself as well.

“3!”

Never know if the kids will get too violent after all.

“2!”

This is going to be far more intense than the qualifier.

“1!”

“BEGIN!” Kayama shouts.

And survive this to the next round girls, please.

Chapter 6: Cavalry Battle

Summary:

"I pledge allegiance to my independent girls in here" - Fifth Harmony

Chapter Text

“BEGIN!”

Mei laughs as all the other teams immediately start coming for her and her babies! The media people are gonna love this!

“It’s basically one big battle for 10 Million points!” One of the team leaders shouts.

“Hahaha, I’ll be taking that headband, Hagakure!” Another team leader shouts.

Mei wants to bounce in place from excitement, but she’d rather not dislodge her colleagues.

“Not even giving us a chance. Such is the fate of the helpless victims.” Spooky Minion groans, spreading her Quirk to the group. “But let’s prove that we’re the Final Girls instead.”

“I’m with you Yanagi, this is it!” Cute Minion cheers, pink spreading through the team.

10 Million calls out. “Girls, prepare for liftoff!”

“Don’t think so!” One of the team leaders shouts.

Then 10 Million blasts her jetpack, sending them all flying into the sky as the ground beneath them turns dark and muddy.

HER BABIES ARE DOING SO AMAZING!

Mei laughs as she flies at the back of the group. “Look at how high up we are! Aren’t my babies amazing?!”

10 Million nods her shoulders. “Yeah, you’re awesome Hatsume!”

“Damn support course!” Someone shouts down below.

Mei cackles and sticks her tongue out at them. “If you wanted my babies, you should’ve done better in the first round!”

Now she can show the entire school, no, the entire COUNTRY why you should hire Mei Hatsume if you want good support gear!

A big dark bird comes flying for them, but Spooky Minion yanks them out of it’s path.

“You can’t catch us!” Mei taunts, laughing.

The bird shrinks down and the person with the bird head scowls.

Oh this is the most fun she’s had in a while, it’s almost as much fun as brainstorming new gear!

“Yanagi is making everyone fly and can keep us out of anyone’s path.” 10 Million points out. “Uraraka is keeping us all light as a feather. And Hatsume’s gear is giving us an extra edge in manoeuvrability.”

Cute Minion looks around. “We are a pretty good team for speed. Only thing that makes me worry is that we aren’t a very strong team for combat.”

Mei giggles.

Oh please, as if she would only use tools for manoeuvrability. She has plenty of weapons on hand as well! Her Capture Gun will certainly be effective or she could use her Grenades or she could hit em with her favourite-

BANG!

Something comes flying right for them, the rider of another team.

Ohh, maybe Mei can use her Capture Gun now.

“Bakugo is coming for us!” Cute Minion shouts.

“Girls, eyes shut!” 10 Million orders.

Mei does as suggested.

“DON’T THINK FOR A SECOND YOU’RE SAFE, YOU DAMN EXTRA!” The BoomBoom Boy shouts. “I’VE GOT YOU!”

Then he screams in pain and Mei almost sees the world go white even with her eyes shut.

“Eyes open, let’s go!” 10 Million orders.

“One sec!” Mei calls, pulling out her Capture Gun from her boobs.

She sees the BoomBoom Boy holding his eyes in agony and screaming, perfect time to strike.

Mei fires her Capture Gun.

He screams even more as he gets tangled up in red netting and falls to the earth. Then a long line of tape grabs him and pulls him to his teammates. The BoomBoom Boy crashes into his teammates and they all fall to the ground.

“WHOA, Bakugo has been separated from his horses and immobilised!” The announcer shouts. “Is that even allowed?!”

“He never touched the ground and Team Hagakure didn’t make his team fall on purpose, so it’s okay!” The stage lady says.

BoomBoom Boy’s teammates heave and tug and pull but there’s no way to get out of her Capture Gun! She had a few Third Years try to pull it apart and she kept making new ones until they couldn’t get out!

“Hagakure, what was that?!” Cute Minion calls out.

“I’m not just invisible, ya know. I can manipulate light, which means I can turn into a flashlight if need be!” 10 Million giggles. “I’m thinking of calling that move something cute, like Say Cheese!”

“I can make you a bodysuit that’s made of mirrors to augment your Quirk even more!” Mei shouts, foaming at the mouth at the thought of all the things she’d have to do to make that work. “OR give you a bunch of different lights on your costume to manipulate!”

“That sounds like fun and thanks for taking Bakugo out with the net!” 10 Million giggles. “I’ll ask you about it later, let’s focus on surviving right now!”

Mei nods.

After all, can’t lose focus, all the big company CEOs are watching!

But she can’t wait to get back to the lab and make babies with these girls!

Kyoka watches Team Hagakure up in the air, managing to make Bakugo look like an idiot which is Grammy Award Winning stuff honestly. Well done.

But her team have their own jobs to focus on.

“Let’s start going after the smaller point teams first.” Kyoka orders. “This’ll keep us out of the spotlight but allow us to keep racking up points.”

Shinsou snorts. “Aye-aye captain.”

Komori squeals. “Okay, Jirou.”

Tsuyu croaks. “That means starting with Team Rin, right?”

Kyoka nods, looking for the weakest team on the field.

And they’re heading straight for them, a smaller boy on top of a bigger and hairier boy who is charging them on all fours. Unorthodox, but who cares.

“Get ready.” Kyoka orders. “Shinsou, when they get in range, freeze them and I’ll grab their headbands. Komori when we pass them, shroom them.”

“Okay!” Her team call out, running.

Kyoka tries not to fall off, keeping one of her hands on Shinsou’s shoulder. She was never good at cavalry battles for a reason, she has horrible balance.

The boy on top, Rin presumably, calls out. “If you surrender we won’t hurt you!”

Kyoka snorts. “I’ve been bleeding and sweating and crying for the last 2 weeks to get this far.”

Shinsou interrupts. “What makes you think I’ll give up now?”

Wow, he’s good at ventriloquism. He really sounds like her.

Rin raises his arm. “I was just trying to be gentlemanly.”

He freezes.

“Get the big guy to say something.” Shinsou snaps quietly.

Kyoka calls out. “Is your partner more gentlemanly than you, big guy?”

Shinsou adds. “Or do you like beating up girls?”

The big guy calls out. “I just think it would be insulting to ask for your surrender now.”

Then he freezes.

The two of them stand there like idiots.

“Okay, be gentle when you grab the headband.” Shinsou adds.

Kyoka rolls her eyes. “I’ll show you gentle.”

She stretches out her earphone jack and swipes Rin’s headband, pulling it back and putting it on her own neck.

“Komori!” Kyoka calls out.

Komori squeaks. “Got-got it!”

She takes her hand off Shinsou’s shoulder and blasts it at Team Rin. And the mushrooms start growing on them instantly. They scream as they freak out, falling apart and trying to get the shrooms off them but they keep coming.

And Kyoka walks away completely unnoticed from all the attention the others are getting.

This is nice.

Pony giggles as she blasts off two of her horns, blasting all the girls forward super fast. “Let’s go!”

“TEAM KENDO ARE ON THE MOVE, BUT WHERE WILL THEY GO?! NOBODY KNOWS!” Present Mic cheers.

They slip and slide on Ashido’s acid, heading right for Shoda, Bondo and Fukidashi. Pony likes them, but she wants to beat them too!

“Sorry Vice Rep, but I’ll be taking that headband!” Kendo calls out as they slide.

Shoda calls out. “Sorry Class Rep, but I can’t let you!”

“Class 1B are in for a battle between their Class Rep and Vice Rep!” Present Mic shouts. “Who will be victorious in this bureaucratic clash?!”

Bondo snorts his glue out.

“Watch out, that’ll trap us!” Kendo warns.

“I’m on it!” Ashido chirps, spewing acid from her hand.

The two meet in the middle, bursting into a toxic white cloud that Pony coughs on and can’t see through.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, what happened down there?!” Present Mic calls out. “Can anyone see anything?!”

Pony can’t see.

“Keep moving!” Kendo orders. “March forward!”

But she trusts Kendo, so Pony moves.

They get out of the smoke and Pony can breathe a little easier and see.

Kendo is tying a headband around her neck.

“Nice job holding me steady, Midoriya.” Kendo praises.

Midoriya looks up smiling. “I’m glad I could help!”

“AND the victor is Team Kendo!” Present Mic calls out. “What an incredible move from Ashido who managed to melt Bondo’s glue AND give them a smokescreen at the same time!”

“Let’s make a get away before they catch up.” Kendo orders.

Pony giggles. “Let’s zoom!”

Ashido throws out the weak acid and Pony uses her horns to blast them forward, laughing as they get away from Shoda and the others.

Pony is having so much fun!

Yui can see how well the other girls are doing. So her team has to do well too.

“Kodai, gimme a can and release it!” Tokage requests, waving her severed hand at her. “I wanna throw it at the pretty boy and hear him scream.”

Yui nods.

“Team Tokage is on a collision course with Team Aoyama!” Present Mic calls out. “But which team will walk away with their headbands still on and which team will be left crying and pointless?!”

She takes her hand off Yaoyorozu’s shoulder, reaches into the bag on her hip and picks out one of the cans she shrunk earlier. Yui is glad she’s learned how to release only some of the objects she shrinks during these past two weeks.

“Awesome.” Tokage takes the can and throws it.

“Release.” Yui calls out.

The can returns to it’s original size.

“And a giant can just showed up outta nowhere!” Present Mic screams. “Who could’ve done this?! Was it Kodai or Yaoyorozu?! Or both?!”

The blond boy on top of his teammates screams and a bright light bursts from his midriff, blasting a hole through the can.

Tokage cackles and throws her hand out, yanking the boy’s headband off him.

“Thanks for the headband, pretty boy!” Tokage cheers.

Her hand heads back to her body.

“No!” He screams. “We must get it back!”

Then a wall of vines gets in his way, blooming and wrapping around him and his team.

“Team Tokage is making a clean get away with Team Aoyama’s points thanks to Shiozaki’s wall of ivy!” Present Mic cheers. “These girls are killing it on the field today! What did they eat for breakfast?!”

Shiozaki huffs. “I am no killer.”

“Worry about your titles later!” Yaoyorozu requests. “We still have more headbands to snatch!”

Yui knows that, so she keeps running.

They have to get all the 1A girls through to the next round.

Tetsutetsu remembers Monoma’s plan to get all the 1A headbands first so that they can rise up the ranks. Which is why his team is heading for Todoroki’s team first!

“Honenuki, ready to go up against another recommendation student?!” Tetsutetsu calls out.

Honenuki cackles. “I’ve been ready for this since results day. Let’s get him!”

“Charge!” Tetsutetsu orders.

Honenuki, Awase and Kamakiri head straight for Todoroki’s team.

“Team Tetsutetsu are about to duke it out with Team Todoroki! Each of these teams has a Recommendation student on them, Todoroki and Honenuki.” Present Mic screams. “SO LET’S SEE WHO’S GONNA WIN!”

“It’ll be me!” Honenuki shouts.

Then he throws out his mud, trapping all of Team Todoroki in it and making them sink fast.

“Nice job!” Tetsutetsu cheers him on. “Now let’s get their headband!”

One of the boys bursts a dark shadow thing from his chest, screaming.

“Not today!” Kamakiri shouts, bursting his knives from his face.

The monster breaks them, but it’s fine.

Because while everyone was focused on that, Tetsutetsu swung out and grabbed Todoroki’s headband on his left, getting them to run away with his points.

“Team Tetsutetsu take the win and leave Team Todoroki in the sinking mug! Who could’ve expected this?!” Present Mic calls out. “This Sports Festival has been nothing but twists and turns and who knows what’ll happen next! I LOVE IT!”

“You’re gonna make my ears bleed, Mic.” The other guy grumbles.

Tetsutetsu watches them, just to be sure they aren’t getting out.

Todoroki blasts his ice at Honenuki’s sinkhole, but it doesn’t stop their sinking. The dark shadow thing isn’t strong enough to pull them out. Their front horse is clearly trying to do something, but it’s not working for whatever reason. Then the last horse bursts into electricity but nothing.

Tetsutetsu smirks at his friend. “How’s it feel to finally show those 1A jerks who’s boss?!”

“Awesome!” Honenuki cackles. “Let’s keep it going!”

“YEAH!” Awase and Kamakiri shout.

Tetsutetsu cackles and keeps going.

They’ve got a Sports Festival to win!

Neito can’t help but laugh when he sees the state that Team Bakugo is in. They still haven’t gotten their leader out of that Support Course girl’s net.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

But the gaps in the net are thin enough that Shiozaki’s vines can slip in. They just have to get Neito close enough to do it.

“Oh how sad.” Neito declares, as his team holds him above Team Bakugo.

They all turn to him with their sad little wannabe Hero faces.

“It seems the Mighty Class 1A can be beaten after all. All thanks to a… what did you call her again?” Neito hums, holding his chin. “Oh right, you called her an extra.”

“You…” Bakugo snarls, spitting through his gritted teeth like a feral animal.

“Team Monoma have approached the downed Team Bakugo, who are still struggling with Hatsume’s net!” Present Mic announces. “Could it be that Team Monoma are offering their rivals a hand?!”

Neito scoffs in his mind.

He’d rather die than help these 1A jerks.

He focuses on the feeling of Shiozaki’s Quirk, focuses on the vine appearing at the bottom of his hair. He focuses on keeping it out of sight.

“Do you have to kick us while we’re down bruh?” The red hardhead asks.

He focuses on making the vine slip down his back, to their feet.

The tape elbows rubs the back of his head. “Well it is Bakugo.”

He focuses on making the vine slip around their feet.

“I’ll kill you Stupid Teeth!” Bakugo spits.

He focuses on making the vine curl through their ranks.

Neito tusks. “Temper, temper. How someone as wild as you ended up in the Hero Course is such a mystery. Especially with such a boring Quirk.”

He focuses on making the vine slip between the members of Team Bakugo.

“THE FUCK YOU MEAN BORING?!” Bakugo screams, thrashing even more. “When I get out of this, I’ll kill you!”

He focuses on making the vine slip behind Bakugo.

“See? Such a short fuse, one would think you should be in anger management instead of heroism.” Neito waves him off. “But you’d rather focus on the faults of everyone around you, so you don’t have to look at yourself. I know your type all too well. Why else would you insult your friends?”

He thinks of bullies and teachers who told him he’d never be a Hero with this Quirk, with nothing original about himself.

“These fuckers aren’t my friends!” Bakugo struggles even harder.

He focuses on making the vine tug gently but quickly on Bakugo’s points, taking the headband.

“Wow. I’m almost sad for you.” Neito declares. “You’re so full of yourself, there’s no room for anyone else in your life, is there? It’s all you, you, you, isn’t it Bakugo Katsuki?”

He focuses on getting the vine back to his body with the points.

“You’ve been on the TV for a while though, so I’m not surprised it’s all you, you, you in your world.” Neito smirks. “I remember the Sludge Villain after all.”

Bakugo freezes.

“It must be so frustrating to constantly be in situations where you’re useless. Helpless. Need others to save you.” Neito chuckles. “You’ll have to tell me about it some time.”

He puts his hand behind his back, taking a hold of the headband and dismissing the vine.

“I’ll show you just how useless my Quirk is when I get out of this fucking net.” Bakugo hisses. “I’LL SHOW YOU I’M BETTER THAN EVERYONE IN THIS ENTIRE SCHOOL!”

“I don’t know about that.” Neito shows off Bakugo’s headband. “Since my Quirk got me this.”

The entiry of Team Bakugo gasp, staring at him in shock.

“I’ll see you later. Good luck.” Neito laughs. “You’ll need it.”

And then his team heads to the next target.

“AND TEAM MONOMA GETS AWAY WITH THE DEFEATED TEAM BAKUGO’S HEADBAND! CLASS 1B ARE RISING IN THE RANKS FAST!” Present Mic announces. “Can the members of Class 1A keep up with their sister class?!”

Neito ties the headband on his neck, smug and assured in his victory.

While he’s angry at the 1B girls for betraying them and working with the 1A girls, it certainly proved fatal to Bakugo.

So Neito will continue to take advantage of it as long as he can.

Reiko looks at the scoreboard, just to check the time they have left.

TIME LEFT 10:01

TEAM HAGAKURE: 10000385 POINTS

TEAM TOKAGE: 990 POINTS

TEAM TETSUTETSU: 810 POINTS

TEAM KENDO: 770 POINTS

TEAM JIROU: 685 POINTS

TEAM MONOMA: 660 POINTS

TEAM RIN: 0 POINTS

TEAM AOYAMA: 0 POINTS

TEAM SHODA: 0 POINTS

TEAM TODOROKI: 0 POINTS

TEAM BAKUGO: 0 POINTS

“5 minutes have passed since this Cavalry Battle began and what an incredible first third it’s been!” Present Mic announces. “Our handy leaderboard will tell you that Team Hagakure is still in first place with their 10 Million points, while Team Tokage, Team Tetsutetsu and Team Kendo are right behind them! Team Bakugo and Team Todoroki are immobilised and pointless while Team Jirou and Team Monoma are rising up the ranks quickly! Lastly, Team Rin, Team Aoyama and Team Shoda are still in the game, but without any headbands. But who’s to say where things will stand in the next 5 minute summary?!”

Reiko loves when a wicked plan comes to fruition.

“Girls, let’s head over to Team Tokage!” Hagakure orders. “We can switch headbands and get some breathing room.”

“Fine by me 10 Million!” Hatsume cackles.

“Yeah, I need a break. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna vomit.” Uraraka groans.

Reiko sighs. It’s annoying how weak Uraraka is. She still needs more training in order to become a Final Girl.

But they’re not in a horror movie yet.

So Reiko guides them down to Team Tokage, who have taken a break from their total rampage through all the other teams.

“Team Hagakure are making a beeline for Team Tokage! Could the girls' teamwork be breaking down under the pressure?!” Present Mic shouts.

Reiko rolls her eyes.

Yeah no, he’ll die before Uraraka does in any horror movie.

Tokage turns her head, grinning at them. “Hey guys! Got some presents for ya!”

She pulls off the headbands around her neck and head, waving them.

Hagakure shouts. “And we have a present for you too!”

She takes off her own headband.

Tokage removes her head and hands from her body, flying them up to Team Hagakure still in the sky.

“What could the girls be doing?! Why have they taken off their headbands?!” Present Mic demands.

Hagakure reaches out and ties the 10 Million headband around Tokage’s head and Tokage uses her hands to stick her headbands around Hagakure’s neck.

“I! DON’T! BELIEVE IT FOLKS!” Present Mic shrieks. “TEAM HAGAKURE AND TEAM TOKAGE ARE SWAPPING HEADBANDS! IN ALL MY YEARS COMMENTING ON THE SPORTS FESTIVAL, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED! EVER!”

Reiko rolls her eyes.

God, he’s so annoying.

“It was clear from the start that the women of the Hero Course were working together, but to go this far?! Who could’ve expected this?!” Present Mic continues to howl. “What has united them this well?!”

Tokage smirks at them. “Let’s make sure we make our teams proud.”

Hagakure nods her head, headbands swishing. “You know we will!”

Hagakure and Tokage high five and Reiko starts guiding them away from Team Tokage, to head to the emptiest part of the field to get some rest.

Reiko sets them on the ground and releases her hold on them.

Uraraka’s knees buckle and lock, then she vomits right in front of herself.

“Uraraka!” Hagakure shouts in worry. “Oh God, girl, are you alright?”

“J-just Quirk side effects.” Uraraka groans.

“I could make you a baby that gets rid of your nausea if you want.” Hatsume offers.

Uraraka nods. “Please.”

She spits into the nausea.

Reiko speaks up. “Are you able to move?”

If you can’t move in a horror, you die.

“If you need to rest for a bit, just say the word.” Hagakure offers.

“No.” Uraraka shakes her head.

Reiko blinks in confusion.

Uraraka lifts her head, looking over her shoulder. “We have to go, before the other teams close in on us. We’re sitting ducks here and not the best at combat.”

Hagakure hunches her shoulders. “Are you sure, girlfriend?”

Uraraka nods, giving them a smile. “Yeah, I can manage.”

Hatsume cackles. “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s get out there and get everyone to buy my babies so I can make money to make more babies!”

Uraraka nods and turns around. And they get back to running across the field.

Reiko has to admit, she’s kinda impressed.

Not everyone can get up and keep going after they throw up. Maybe Uraraka has grown a little closer to becoming a Final Girl after all.

Ibara has never been much of a fighter, but she can see why the Sports Festival is so important to so many people. Even though she is a Child Of God who refrains from violence where she can, even she is getting a bit excited by the competition and the thrill of victory.

“In the biggest upset in the event so far, Team Tokage is now in possession of the 10 Million points everyone is aiming for!” Present Mic calls out. “Can anyone possibly take them?!”

And now that she can feel all the other desperate teams staring at them with violence in their souls, that excitement is spiked with nerves.

“We have a target on our backs now.” Ibara speaks up as they march across the field. “Not to mention the fact that Tetsutetsu has interrupted our ranks by placing so high. What should we do?”

Perhaps they should’ve taken Todoroki’s headband before Tetsutetsu could.

Kodai hums, agreeing.

Yaoyorozu speaks up. “I don’t know Team Tetsutetsu’s strengths and weaknesses and now that we have all the other teams gunning for us, it’s not in our best interest to fight them.”

“So we’re running away for 5 minutes?” Tokage smirks. “Nice, sounds fun. Relaxing even.”

“TOKAGE!”

The girls all turn to see Tetsutetsu gunning for them.

“I’M GONNA GET THAT 10 MILLION HEADBAND!” Tetsutetsu roars. “And then I’ll kick your ass!”

Ibara sighs. So violent. So brutish.

“Team Tetsutetsu is making a break from 3rd Place to aim for 1st!” Present Mic shrieks. “Will they be victorious?!”

“Tokage, what are their Quirks?!” Yaoyorozu calls out.

“Uhh, Kamakiri is a knife, Honenuki makes the ground sinky, Awase can bond things together and Tetsutetsu gets hard!” Tokage calls out.

Ibara scowls at the innuendo. She’s had to hear that joke, far, far too much since Tokage and Tetsutetsu became friends.

Then Yaoyorozu turns them towards Tetsutetsu’s team and starts running.

“Whatever the case, Team Tokage is fully prepared to meet them head on!” Present Mic calls out. “Go girls, go!”

“You’re supposed to be unbiased Mic.” The 1A homeroom teacher responds.

“I got a plan!” Yaoyorozu calls out. “Kodai prepare to release a bunch of the metal boxes and Tokage throw them in front of us on my signal on their sides!”

“But we’ll just crash into them!” Tokage gasps.

“Do it!” Yaoyorozu snaps.

Ibara frowns, but passes Tokage a bunch of the metal boxes using her vines.

“Shiozaki, release the clasps on everyone’s skates, we’re going to take them off. And you’re in charge of taking their headbands!” Yaoyorozu adds. “Do it when the moment is right!”

Ibara nods. “Understood.”

Ibara sends out her vines, releasing herself and Kodai from the skates.

“When I say jump, do that!” Yaoyorozu adds. “Ready?!”

Kodai nods.

Ibara calls out. “We are.”

Tokage smirks. “Fuck yeah we are!”

Yaoyorozu shouts. “THEN JUMP!”

All the girls jump.

“Team Tokage have taken to the air, but what for?!” Present Mic calls out. “Could the brilliant Class Vice Rep of 1A have figured out a plan?!”

“Throw and release!” Yaoyorozu calls out.

Tokage and Kodai do so.

A bunch of metal boxes triple in size and start sinking into the ground where they were.

Ibara’s eyes widen in shock.

Yaoyorozu was able to predict when Honenuki would make the ground soften?!

“WHAT?!” Honenuki shouts.

“It looks like Team Tokage managed to block Team Tetsutetsu’s attack by making a metal bridge!” Present Mic calls. “Clever!”

The girls land unsteadily on the boxes.

“RUN!” Yaoyorozu orders.

Ibara grits her teeth and throws herself and the rest of the team forward, charging them ahead along the boxes with Kodai at her side. They run, run, run.

Then the end of the bridge appears with Team Tetsutetsu in front of them.

“We’re jumping over them!” Yaoyorozu orders.

Tetsutetsu snarls, arms out wide. “Don’t think so!”

Then Yaoyorozu blasts something from her chest at him, some sticky pink junk that blinds him and makes him cry out as he struggles to scrape it off.

“Ohh, Yaoyorozu gets Tetsutetsu in the face with a headshot of some pink stuff!” Present Mic cackles. “Since she can create anything from her fat molecules, I wouldn’t wanna be Tetsutetsu right now!”

Ibara’s eyes widen.

Yaoyorozu is incredible.

“JUMP!”

They jump.

“Now Shiozaki!” Yaoyorozu calls.

Ibara understands.

She throws a vine out, snatching both of Tetsutetsu’s headbands.

“AND TEAM TOKAGE HAVE COME OUT VICTORIOUS, WITH TEAM TETSUTETSU’S HEADBANDS IN THEIR HANDS!” Present Mic hollars. “GO GIRLS GO!”

“Brace for impact!” Yaoyorozu warns.

They hit the ground hard and loud, Ibara’s whole body shaking from the landing.

“Everyone okay?!” Yaoyorozu asks, looking over her shoulder.

Kodai nods.

Ibara nods. “I’m fine as well.”

“Just peachy, but let’s keep running!” Tokage calls out. “Or they’ll catch up!”

Yaoyorozu nods. “My thoughts exactly.”

With that, they keep moving.

And Ibara can’t help but smile.

They really are incredible, especially with someone as intelligent as Yaoyorozu on their side. She’ll make an excellent holy knight one day.

Itsuka glances at the scoreboard with a grin on her face, proud of the other girls. They really do make an incredible team.

“Now the only teams that still have headbands are Tokage, Hagakure, us, Jirou and Monoma.” Midoriya remarks as they run. “It’s barely the first half of the game, but I didn’t expect everyone to fall so fast.”

“I didn’t either.” Itsuka admits.

She knew she and the girls were strong together, plus they had Hatsume and Midoriya on their side, two very intelligent and creative fighters and Shinsou as a wildcard. It’s almost going too well.

“Oh yeah, we rule!” Ashido cheers.

Tsunotori giggles. “Yep, yep!” Then she says in English. “Girl power!”

Ashido and Tsunotori laugh together.

“I wouldn’t celebrate just get ladies.” Itsuka warns them. “Remember Monoma is crafty and vindictive. We can’t relax so long as there’s time on the clock.”

“You’re right about that, Kendo.”

Itsuka gasps and blows up her left fist, swinging hard with it and holding her headbands tight with her other hand.

Monoma ducks under her hand, his hands empty and all of her headbands still in her grasp.

That was too close.

“TEAM KENDO AND TEAM MONOMA ARE THE NEXT BIG PLAYERS TO CLASH!” Present Mic announces. “WHICH OF THESE CHARISMATIC CHARACTERS IN 1B WILL ADVANCE TO THE FINAL ROUND AND WHICH ONE WILL BE LEFT IN THE DUST?!”

Itsuka grits her teeth. “Hi, Monoma.”

God he’s annoying.

“Hi Kendo.” Monoma smirks at her like he’s winning.

Itsuka holds her headbands tighter, so she’ll notice if he pulls any tricks.

“Do you remember the day before? When we all talked as a class about how to do well in the Sports Festival?” Monoma calls out.

Oh yeah, Itsuka remembers that plan.

Ashido speaks up. “What’s this guy talking about?”

“I knew that the Sports Festival wouldn’t cut too many of us too quickly. The mass qualifier always has room for 42 to 50 students to go to the next round.” Monoma tilts his head. “It means all the Hero Course are guaranteed to advance if they’re just quicker than everyone else. It gives room for the wild cards too, like the Support Course and General Course kids who wanna get into Heroics.”

Midoriya’s eyes widen. “You mean you figured that out before the Sports Festival even began?”

“Only an idiot wouldn’t notice it.” Monoma rolls his eyes. “It’s just common sense after all.”

Ashido laughs nervously and Tsunotori giggles innocently.

Itsuka scowls at him.

“So baring that in mind, the plan in 1B was to let the 1A fools race to the top in the first event and from our place in the middle ranks we could observe them easier.” Monoma taps his head. “Learn their strengths, their styles, their weaknesses. Trying to go big from the start is too small minded for an event this grand.”

Midoriya gasps.

“But Kendo and the rest of the girls wrecked that plan! We also couldn’t coordinate the teams we’d planned out ahead of time based on Quirk compatibility and personal relationships.” Monoma scowls at them. “You just had to betray us for the 1A idiots and a chance to shine.”

Itsuka grits her teeth hard.

She knows how important the Sports Festival is on a grand scale. She knows how important it is for people to plan it out. She knows how important it is to do well. She knows how big of an impact it has on their Hero Careers.

Even so…

“I was never going to agree to a plan like that, Monoma.” Itsuka declares. “And there are more important things than your own personal advancement.”

Monoma laughs at her. Of course he does. “Ever the sentimental type, Kendo.” He shrugs. “How you were elected the Class Rep I don’t know.”

“Because she’s nice!” Tsunotori interrupts.

Kaibara says. “She’s more organised than you.”

Kuroiro chuckles. “I wanted to see your face when you lost.”

Tsuburaba speaks up. “I just like a woman who can kick my ass and take charge.”

Monoma’s eye twitches.

Itsuka wishes she could giggle and thank the guys for their support, but she can’t be distracted right now.

She holds the bands tighter and glances at them. She’s definitely still holding them.

“Well, regardless of all that-” Monoma throws his arms out to the side and glares at her. “I’m going to advance and I’m going to leave a traitor like you in the dust.”

Then his hands blow up like her own Big Fist.

“MONOMA HAS COPIED KENDO’S QUIRK AND IS GOING IN FOR AN ATTACK!” Present Mic cheers.

“Oh no you don’t!” Itsuka blows up her free fist.

She knocks Monoma’s hands away from her, faster than him even with his two big fists. But how much longer can she keep this up? She should’ve planned things out better for dealing with Monoma, damnit.

Then Tsunotori blasts her horns at Monoma, forcing him to defend from her projectiles too.

And Itsuka gets an idea.

“Tsunotori, get his headband!” Itsuka yells in English.

Monoma is shit at English.

“Okay!” Tsunotori yells back.

She keeps blasting her horns at him and then another one slides past his defences to snag the headband around his neck. The horn takes off, twisting in mid air, wrapping the headband around itself and then circling around.

“Get us out of here!” Itsuka orders.

“On it!” Ashido, Tsunotori and Midoriya shout.

Then they’re sliding away from team Monoma and when Itsuka looks over her shoulder, Ashido is blasting acid at them and Tsunotori is also blasting her horns at them to cover them. The horn with the headband on it flies into Itsuka’s hands.

Itsuka grins.

“THE WOMEN OF THE HERO COURSE ARE UNSTOPPABLE!” Present Mic cheers. “GO GIRLS, GO GIRLS, GO GIRLS!”

God she loves when her girls work together.

Kinoko is doing her best not to focus on all the screaming people because if she does, she thinks she’ll just pass out. Instead she focuses on her team.

"It's, it's really cool how Jirou and-and Shinsou work together even if they don't like each other." Kinoko says as they run across the field, out pacing the other teams.

Asui ribbits. "Jirou is very pragmatic and cares more about getting the job done. It looks like Shinsou is the same."

Shinsou snorts. "Yeah well this is the best way to get what I want. I'd rather not fuck it up."

Jirou scoffs. "If you do, I'll make your eardrums bleed."

Shinsou laughs a taunting laugh.

Kinoko is a little intimidated by Shinsou. But she's gotten stronger in these past few days, so she's not as scared as she used to be.

"Incoming, 12 o'clock!" Jirou warns them.

Kinoko gasps and looks in front.

Team Shoda is charging at them.

"Sorry about this, Komori!" Shoda calls out. "But I can't afford to lose!"

Kinoko squeaks.

Shinsou calls out in her voice. "I, I'll fight too! Ready?"

Shoda responds. "Always!"

And he freezes.

"Komori, who are the horses?" Shinsou calls out.

"B-Bondo and Fu-Fukidashi!" Kinoko replies, quickly.

"Bondo, Fukidashi, are you ready?" Shinsou shouts in her voice.

Bondo responds. "I, I hope so."

Fukidashi cheers. "Born ready!"

And they freeze too.

With that, Team Jirou walk right past them with no problem.

"Shroom em!" Jirou orders.

Kinoko squeaks and does so. "R-right!"

She throws out her hands and mushrooms cover Team Shoda, making them cry and scream in shock.

Kinoko feels a little bad for scaring them.

"You're really strong, Komori, ribbit."

Kinoko blinks, turning to Asui. "You really think so, Asui?"

Asui nods. "Yeah. Keep doing your best."

Kinoko stares at her, heart racing.

Asui really thinks she's that cool?

Then…

"I won't let you down!" Kinoko declares.

She has to do her best, no matter what.

Yuga knew since he was young that he was meant to be a shining star in the UA Hero Course. Even when life got him down and took him from the light, he knew he was born to sparkle like a star. Yet now that it is finally his time to shine on the greatest stage in the world, the camera barely passes him. Instead it focuses on the girls in his class, who have stolen his sparkle too.

“There’s no point in us still trying.” Yuga sighs, his stomach in knots, his heart a mess. “The mademoiselles will defeat us.”

His Quirk is killing his body at this point. He doesn’t think he has any sparkle left in him.

“What?! You can’t give up now, it’s barely half time!” Ojiro calls out.

Shouji makes an extra mouth. “He’s right. So long as there’s time left, we should keep going!”

Kouda nods his head.

Yuga’s stomach twists and tightens and he thinks he’s going to be sick. Or poop. Neither would be good right now.

Before he had his Quirk, he never thought it would make him feel like this.

Most of the time, he wishes he didn’t have it.

Especially right now!

“Aoyama, we all agreed that we’d do our best to advance. We didn’t get to stand out in the last round, so we have to do our best to do it now.” Shouji calls out.

“Come on, aren’t you the man who wants to shine everywhere he goes?!” Ojiro calls out.

Yuga gasps, turning to him.

Ojiro smiles at him. “You survived the USJ with the rest of us. This isn’t nearly as scary as that.”

Yuga thinks to the USJ, the time he spent uselessly while the rest of the class fought for their lives.

“You can do this, Aoyama.” Shouji nods his head, a determined stare on his handsome face.

Kouda nods, unable to sign with his hands occupied.

They’re wrong though.

When they were fighting for their lives, I was-

“You survived the USJ with the rest of us. This isn’t nearly as scary as that.”

But they can’t know that’s a lie. They can’t know the truth. So for their sake, I have to…

Yuga lifts up his head and nods. “That’s right. I won’t give up just yet!”

His stomach squirms and rolls sickeningly at the thought, but he can’t let them see how in pain and afraid he is.

So Yuga puts on one of his dazzling smiles and points at Team Hagakure. “Charge!”

The rest of the boys start running towards Team Hagakure and Yuga tries not to vomit or fall off them while his stomach protests the rocky ride. He just has to make it through this and get near enough to get their headbands, and they can shine!

“Team Aoyama is trying to make a comeback by charging Team Hagakure!” Present Mic cheers them on. “Can they make it?!”

Yuga hopes so.

Yuga hopes to God they can do this.

Hagakure turns to them. “Aoyama?!”

Yuga gives her a dazzling smile. “Sorry to steal the spotlight, darling, but I do believe it’s my turn to sparkle, wei ?”

They’re getting closer and Hagakure’s team aren’t backing away from them.

Yuga reaches out his hands, ready to grab the headbands.

“I know you want to shine too, Aoyama. I know how it feels to be invisible.” Hagakure grabs her jacket and unzips it. “That’s why I’m not disappearing yet! Say Cheese!”

“Cheese!” Yuga replies.

Then there’s a bright light and Yuga can’t see anything.

And when he can see again, Team Hagakure are in the air, heading for the other side of the stadium.

How could he ever think he could keep up with them?

Hiryu is honestly starting to panic.

“Rin!” Shishida calls out. “Who should we charge first?!”

He doesn’t know!

He knew they were starting off small, but he thought that would give them more time to observe the other teams. He didn’t expect Jirou to grab his headband and Komori to use her Quirk on them. He’s done his best to use that time being invisible to analyse the other teams, to figure out who to go after.

But it’s like the girls’ teams are impossible to pin down.

Team Hagakure have almost no combat ability and are just avoiding everyone. But since they can fly and in a pinch use that flashbomb thing, they’re practically untouchable.

Team Tokage are the slowest, especially after ditching the rollerskates. But with Shiozaki on defence and Yaoyorozu on attack, they’re hard to get near.

Team Kendo has next to no long range attack power. But this is an exercise where you almost have to get up close and personal and Kendo packs quite a punch.

Team Jirou has most of the weaker members in one place. But they’re also a huge unknown because Rin doesn’t know how they got his headband in the first place.

Time is running out and they have to make a move. Shishida is counting on him.

Hiryu thinks and acts. “Head for Team Tokage!”

It’s the team with the most of 1B in it and thus it’s the team with the most known players. The only person Hiryu doesn’t know is Yaoyorozu, but if her Quirk uses her fat reserves then she must be running low. Hopefully she won’t be able to do anything.

“Team Tokage is getting attacked from two sides, Team Rin and Team Shoda coming in for a comeback!” Present Mic narrates. “Who will walk away with the 10 Million headband?!”

Hiryu begins firing his scales at the ground around the girls, keeping them from running away.

Shiozaki scowls at him, raising her vines. “Don’t make me show you the wrath of my God, Rin.”

Shishida roars. “I’ll show you my wrath!”

Hiryu keeps blasting the ground. “I won’t let you run away!”

Tokage laughs at them. “Oh really?!”

Then she has her horses run towards Shoda’s team.

“What?!” Hiryu calls out.

If they do that, then Bondo could catch them! What are they thinking?!

As the glue flies through the air, something big bursts out of Yaoyorozu and covers the entire team. Some kind of tent?

Tokage turns around and pokes her tongue out at them, tugging on her bottom right eyelid.

Hiryu grits his teeth.

These girls are hard to beat.

Setsuna is honestly having the time of her life as she looks at the leaderboard.

TIME LEFT 5:01

TEAM TOKAGE: 10001195 POINTS

TEAM KENDO: 1430 POINTS

TEAM HAGAKURE: 990 POINTS

TEAM JIROU: 685 POINTS

TEAM MONOMA: 0 POINTS

TEAM TETSUTETSU: 0 POINTS

TEAM RIN: 0 POINTS

TEAM AOYAMA: 0 POINTS

TEAM BAKUGO: 0 POINTS

TEAM TODOROKI: 0 POINTS

TEAM SHODA: 0 POINTS

“Our chaotic cavalry battle is coming to a close, with only 5 minutes left on the clock folks. BUT THE WOMEN OF THE HERO COURSE HAVE CONTINUED TO DOMINATE THE COMPETITION!” Present Mic cheers. “Team Tokage stands ahead of everyone else with over 10 Million points to their name after beating out Team Tetsutetsu! Team Kendo is right behind them, having taken out Team Monoma! Team Hagakure, our initial leaders, are sitting pretty in third and Team Jirou is hanging in the back! WHILE EVERYONE ELSE ON THE FIELD IS POINTLESS! I DON’T KNOW WHAT THESE GIRLS HAVE BEEN DOING THESE PAST 2 WEEKS, BUT THEY’VE DONE AMAZINGLY!”

Aizawa speaks up. “They’ve clearly done intensive, shared training these past few weeks and been working with people in other courses as well. Their coordination is what’s winning them this game.”

“AND I SINCERELY HOPE THEY CAN KEEP DOING IT, BECAUSE IN THESE LAST 5 MINUTES OF THE GAME, PEOPLE ARE GONNA GET DESPERATE!” Present Mic shouts.

Setsuna laughs. “We are awesome, huh girls?!”

Kodai nods in the back. “Hmm.”

Shiozaki claps two of her vines together, as if imitating a prayer. “God has truly shined His Divine Light on us today.”

Yaoyorozu huffs out front. “Let’s keep doing our best! We’re in the home stretch, but like Present Mic said, people are going to get desperate! So we need to switch headbands now, while we and Team Kendo aren’t surrounded!”

Setsuna rips her hands from her body and nods. “Good with me!”

She grabs the headbands they already have and rips her head from her body, since it’s still carrying the 10 Million headband.

Setsuna spots Kendo’s team and heads over there, flying above the others. “Kendo!”

Present Mic gasps. “Tokage has removed her head and hands from her main body and is heading over to Team Kendo! Are they gonna switch headbands again?!”

Kendo waves at her. “Tokage!”

Setsuna gets within reaching distance and gives Kendo the headbands she’s holding. “Here, got a gift.”

Kendo takes them and rips off her own headbands. “Here’s a gift for you too. May I?”

Setsuna brings her head within grabbing distance. “All yours!”

Kendo takes the 10 Million headband and puts it on her head. “Thanks. Now better get going!”

Setsuna takes Kendo’s headbands. “Sure thing!”

With that, Setsuna starts flying back to her body, holding Kendo’s points.

“And once again, the girls have swapped their headbands!” Present Mic calls out. “Except this time, Team Kendo and Team Tokage are the ones who switched! Will this strategy work out as well as it did the first time?!”

Setsuna really fucking hopes so.

She reunites with her body.

“So, now that the only headbands left are the ones on our necks, what now?” Setsuna asks, tying the headbands to her neck.

Yaoyorozu speaks up. “The rest of the game we’re on defence. We should protect the other girls if need be as well!”

Shiozaki nods. “It is a holy knight’s duty to protect the faithful.”

Kodai nods. “Hmm.”

Setsuna grins. “Let’s get over there then.”

And they start heading to Team Hagakure.

Izuku heaves for breath as he runs across the field, trying to watch out for oncoming threats.

“We’re in the home stretch, so now we’re on defence!” Kendo orders. “Let’s keep our headbands safe and protect the other girls too!”

“Right!” Izuku replies.

“On it!” Tsunotori giggles.

“We got this!” Ashido cheers.

Izuku hopes nothing else will happen.

And then it does.

“Midoriya.”

Izuku squeaks and the whole team comes to a stop, almost falling apart.

Team Todoroki is standing in front of them.

“Shit.” Kendo snarls. “I was hoping Honenuki’s sinkhole could keep them occupied a little longer.”

Izuku was hoping for the same thing.

“With only 4 minutes on the clock, Team Todoroki have escaped Honenuki’s trap and are heading after Team Kendo’s 10 Million points!” Present Mic calls out. “Can they hold onto the crown for the rest of the game?! Or will Todoroki take it from them?!”

Todoroki is glaring at them hard. He looks mad. Not Bakugo mad, but as mad as Izuku’s ever seen him.

“I’ll be taking that headband now, Midoriya.” Todoroki says.

Izuku gulps and cries on the inside, wondering why Todoroki singled him out like this. What’s so special about him?

“Why’s he so grumpy?” Tsunotori pouts in English.

Kendo replies in English. “We can’t focus on that, we have to protect the headbands. Retreat!”

Izuku starts walking backwards.

“Kaminari, Tokoyami!” Todoroki calls out.

Dark Shadow bursts from Tokoyami’s body, surrounding Iida, Tokoyami and Todoroki. Kaminari grins and electricity erupts from his body.

Pain attacks Izuku and his muscles refuse to listen to him, refuse to move, tensing up, making his brain erupt-

Cold cold cold cold cold-

“I DON’T BELIEVE IT FOLKS!”

Izuku blinks, gasping for breath, trying to breath through the pain.

“TEAM TODOROKI IS NOW HOLDING THE 10 MILLION HEADBAND!”

Izuku heaves and turns his head.

Todoroki’s team are charging across the battlefield and wearing only the 10 million headband. Meanwhile Team Kendo has got ice up to their knees keeping them in place.

And it’s all Izuku’s fault. If he hadn’t been on their team, Todoroki wouldn’t have targeted them.

Izuku grits his teeth.

He has to get them out of this.

Katsuki is competitive by nature, because he’s the fucking best.

“FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THIS CAVALRY BATTLE, THE 10 MILLION HEADBAND IS ON A BOY’S HEAD! TEAM TODOROKI HAS IT!”

Katsuki screams and finally blasts himself out of the fucking nets. “I’LL KILL THAT ICYHOT BASTARD, THAT SUPPORT COURSE EXTRA, THAT COPYCAT CUNT AND THE INVISIBLE BITCH!”

They’re gonna wish they’d never applied to UA when he finishes with them!

Shitty Hair, Tape Arms and Sugar Buff get back together and start charging over to Icyhot’s team. But they’re so fucking slow, IT’S PISSING HIM OFF.

“FASTER!” Katsuki screams, pounding on Shitty Hair’s head. “WE’RE GONNA TAKE THOSE 10 MILLION POINTS AND THEN WE’RE GONNA KILL EVERYONE!”

“Cut it out man!” Shitty Hair shouts. “I’m your teammate, not your enemy!”

“GO FASTER THEN!” Katsuki howls.

He’s not gonna let anything stop him!

HE’S GONNA WIN THIS!

BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT HEROES DO!

“Everyone is chasing after Team Todoroki, fighting to get their hands on the 10 Million points!” Parrot Hair shouts. “Team Bakugo is in the lead, but can they get there in time?!”

Katsuki screams at the useless fucks on his team.

Then they’re hit.

Something slams into them and the entire team hits the ground.

“FOUL!” Stupid Stripper shouts. “TEAM MONOMA HAS CRASHED INTO TEAM BAKUGO! TEAM MONOMA ARE DISQUALIFIED!”

Katsuki lifts his head from the ground, glaring at the other team.

The Copycat Cunt and his gaggle of extras are looking around confused and shocked, like they don’t even know who they just fucked with.

Well Katsuki is gonna show them what happens when you fuck with Bakugo Katsuki!

“DIE YOU SHITTY EXTRAS!”

Hitoshi ignores the sounds of explosions going off, thankful he managed to catch Monoma’s team without any of the girls realising he gave them an order. He hopes to God they didn’t realise at least.

Either way, they don’t have time to focus on it, running as fast as they can.

“Why’d Monoma crash into Bakugo?” Asui asks. “Ribbit, any idea Komori?”

Komori shakes her head. “Not-no. Monoma is always very… focused. But he’s petty too.”

“Does it matter?!” Jirou snaps, waving her earphone jacks. “We have to catch up to Todoroki!”

Hitoshi can’t believe he risked giving away his trump card so soon to the girls who are gonna become his enemies after this. He’s so fucking stupid and principled, God he wishes he was an asshole.

“The rest of the teams are all chasing down Team Todoroki, desperate for another shot at the 10 Million Points!” Present Mic shouts. “I imagine some infighting is gonna hit soon!”

“Aoyama is on our 4 o’clock, ribbit.” Asui calls out.

Hitoshi turns his head.

Aoyama is standing on top of his teammates, aiming his laser at them.

Komori shouts. “We don’t have time for this!”

Then she screams and her quirk bursts out of her, hitting Aoyama hard.

Who starts screaming and shooting his lasers everywhere as the mushrooms cover him from head to toe. The rest of his team start freaking out too.

“Komori…” Jirou gasps.

Komori looks up. “We have to help our friends, right?!”

Hitoshi blinks.

Shy, soft spoken, little Komori… is speaking up to help the others?

Hitoshi smiles.

Guess courage can come from anywhere.

Toru holds on tight. “Come on girls, we have to hurry!”

They’re flying through the air, above the other teams. Everyone is chasing after Team Todoroki, with most of the girls right behind them, but Team Tetsutetsu are hot on their heels, which is not good because of Honenuki’s sinkhole.

Which means they’re the only ones with a good chance of getting the 10 Million points back!

“KA-BOOM!”

Huge letters appear out of nowhere, too fast for them to turn around-

Toru and the rest of the girls scream as they hit the letters, hitting them and falling to the ground hard, barely retaining their form thanks to Yanagi.

“Giant words have appeared out of nowhere! Who could’ve made these?!” Present Mic calls out.

Yanagi snarls. “Fukidashi…”

Toru turns.

It’s Team Shoda standing in front of them.

Fukidashi waves his head. “Hiya Yanagi! What do you think of my Big Words?”

He caused this?

“Now, Bondo!” Shoda orders.

Bondo shouts, squirting something from his face.

Toru shouts as she and the rest of the girls are yanked out of the way of the substance.

“Yanagi, what’s his Quirk?!” Uraraka shouts.

“Glue.” Yanagi hisses.

Hatsume giggles. “This is fun, I just want to make babies with everyone here!”

Toru gasps, ignoring Hatsume which is probably for the best. “Oh no, we can’t let him stick to us! We have to hurry and get away.”

“BANG!”

The girls scream as words appear behind them, blocking their direct exit.

“BLAM!”

More words appear at their sides.

“BONK!”

Words appear above them.

Now the only way out is through Team Shoda.

Shoda smiles at them. “Sorry, but I’m not letting you pass by us that easily.”

Toru grits her teeth, holding her headbands tightly.

“Team Shoda has cornered Team Hagakure! Who will come out of that cage alive?!” Present Mic shouts. “DAMN, these last 5 minutes are scary!”

How can they reunite with Team Kendo?

Mina knows she’s one of the chillest girls in the world. But she also feels genuinely sick at the thought of ever having to share a classroom with Mineta again.

So she slides as fast as she can, laying out weak acid as Tsunotori blasts them forward. “Come on, come on, come on!”

She can see Todoroki, Tokoyami, Kaminari and Iida charging ahead of them, not a care in the world, not a care about how this is gonna change their school lives, not a care about how she feels in danger every single day she sits in that classroom with Mineta.

Mina forces herself to go faster.

“We’re almost there!” Kendo reports. “Keep a cool head and keep me steady!”

Mina wishes she could keep as calm as Kendo. She can’t even hear the panic in her voice.

“Team Kendo are catching up with Team Todoroki, eager to redeem themselves. Can they get there in time though?!” Present Mic shouts.

Todoroki glances at them over his shoulder, cold as always.

Mina grits her teeth.

Then he turns away, as if they don’t matter!

“Give us more power Tsunotori!” Kendo orders.

Tsunotori shoots off two more horns, pushing them forward. “I’m giving it!”

They go faster.

Midoriya shouts something in English that Mina doesn’t understand.

Tsunotori responds and then she blasts off two more horns, sending them right at Team Todoroki, aiming for the 10 Million headband-

But Dark Shadow bats them away.

“Dark Shadow is the perfect Quirk for mid range defence, the kind that you need in a game like this!” Midoriya calls out. “The only thing I think could take Dark Shadow out of the equation would be a lot of light, but it’s not faulting from Kaminari’s electricity!”

Mina gasps and looks around. “Where’s Hagakure?!”

“Still trapped with Team Shoda!” Kendo grits her teeth.

Tsunotori shouts something angry in English.

And while Mina doesn’t understand any English, she thinks she agrees with her.

Shouto is getting bored with this dull game of chase. But there’s only 3 minutes left on the clock.

“Tokoyami, how many more times can you defend us from Kaminari’s electricity?” Shouto asks.

Tokoyami speaks up. “Once, if we push it. Kaminari’s light is strong.”

Shouto doesn’t like that. It really is a pity he couldn’t recruit Yaoyorozu.

Iida lifts his head. “What do you want to do, Todoroki? The others are gaining on us!”

Shouto glances behind him again. The others are still gaining on them.

There’s only one thing for it then.

Shouto thinks hard about his ice and then creates a huge icewall.

That should keep the rest of the competition at bay.

Hizashi looks over the field in these chaotic last minutes of the game and he’s honestly a little scared for the girls.

“Team Todoroki have literally cut themselves off from the rest of the arena with a huge glacier!” Hizashi narrates grandly. “The only ones who could get over that, Team Hagakure, have been trapped in a word cage with Team Shoda!”

It’s not looking good.

“Team Monoma has been disqualified and at the rate of Bakugo’s destruction, he’s gonna disqualify his entire team too!” Hizashi continues.

Even though he’s miles above the stadium, he can still hear Bakugo’s angry explosions. It’s a little sad to see one of the smarter kids losing their cool like this, but it’s Bakugo.

“The rest of our teams are all heading over to Todoroki’s glacier!” Hizashi calls out.

He can see the girls all convening on one another, clearly talking about some kind of strategy. He hopes.

“Will anyone be able to overcome this?! Only one way to find out!” Hizashi hypes it up.

And hopes the girls can figure something out.

Yui knows this is do or die. She’s never been the type to speak up, more of an observer. But because she’s an observer, she knows what to say when the rest of the teams are panicking.

“If we can get Team Jirou over the barrier, they have the best chance of getting the 10 Million headband.” Yui says.

All the others stare at her, Team Tokage and Team Kendo.

“They’ve had the most success with taking headbands without injury or attention. They’re the lightest team as well aside from Team Hagakure.” Yui looks up at the huge glacier. “If we want to get someone over, then we have to use them.”

Midoriya mumbles a mile a minute. “If Uraraka and Yanagi were here, they could get them over the wall easily, but we don’t have that option. Instead…”

He lifts his head, gasping.

“Kendo, what if you throw Team Jirou up the ice?!” He asks.

Kendo nods. “My big fists would probably hold everyone, but I don’t know if I’ve got enough force to get them all the way over the ice. They’d also need a way to get down safely.”

“Give me a moment!” Yaoyorozu calls out, her stomach and arms glowing.

And out of it comes 3 backpacks.

“Parachutes!” Yaoyorozu gestures to them. “Jirou, Komori, Asui, put them on!”

The 3 of them hurry to do so.

“And when you get closer, Asui can use her tongue like an anchor!” Kendo adds on.

Tsunotori gasps and shoots off 4 horns. “Guide, guide!”

Yui nods.

Then she looks. “The boys are coming.”

Team Rin, Team Tetsutetsu and Team Aoyama are heading straight for them.

Tokage speaks up. “Then we’re on defence! Kendo after you yeet Jirou, work on breaking through the ice!”

“Right!” Kendo responds.

Yui and the others in Tokage’s team head to defend their friends.

They have to win this.

Tsuyu is glad she’s pretty stoic, or she wouldn’t have stopped screaming like Komori has been doing since they first got thrown into the air.

“Team Kendo just yeeted Team Jirou sky-high!” Present Mic shouts. “What’s their goal?!”

Tsuyu holds the release strap of her parachute tightly, hoping not to let her nerves show.

“Komori, we’ll be fine!” Jirou shouts, fighting against the wind to speak.

Komori squeals. “BU-BUT I’M SCARED!”

“You’re still here though, ribbit.” Tsuyu calls out.

Komori turns to her, eye peeking through her bangs. “HUH?!”

“You’re here and you’re helping us, even though you’re scared.” Tsuyu turns to her. “That makes you really brave, Komori.”

Komori stares at her, eye widening.

“We’re getting pretty close so I think we should release those parachutes soon!” Shinsou calls out.

Tsuyu nods.

“On 3!” Jirou calls. “1, 2, 3!”

Tsuyu pulls and it feels like they fly even higher in the air, the pull of gravity less intense and the wind rushing up to them less strongly.

“Asui, what’s their names?!” Shinsou shouts.

Tsuyu ribbits. “Todoroki is the leader, Iida is the front horse, Kaminari and Tokoyami are the back horses. And Tokoyami’s quirk is called Dark Shadow. It’s sentient.”

Shinsou curses under his breath, then says. “How do I piss them off?!”

Tsuyu doesn’t really know.

But Jirou does. “Say something positive about Endeavour to Todoroki, something insulting about Ingenium to Iida, call Kaminari a pikachu, tell Tokoyami My Chemical Romance is cringe and call Dark Shadow a dumbass bird!”

Komori winces. “But I like pokemon.”

Tsuyu thinks My Chemical Romance is fine. Though she’s biassed since Habuko likes them a little.

“Being the kid of the Number 2 must be pretty nice, eh?!” Shinsou shouts.

Todoroki narrows his eyes. “You know nothing.”

Then his eyes go blank. Tsuyu’s noticed that happens with Shinsou’s Quirk.

“Tell me, is Ingenium faster than a bat?! Or did he purposely let the Bat Guy go?!” Shinsou calls.

Iida’s eyes widen. “My brother is an excellent Hero-”

His eyes go blank.

“MCR is cringe, you stupid bird!” Shinsou screams.

Tokoyami growls. “You fiend-”

Dark Shadow waves it’s fist. “You take that back!”

Then they go blank too.

“Can you use your brain at all, you stupid pikachu?!” Shinsou calls.

Kaminari gasps. “How dare you insult my brethren!”

Then his eyes go blank.

Tsuyu shoots out her tongue and with Tsunotori’s horns helping, they get to the ground without hurting themselves.

“With only 10 seconds left, Team Jirou and Team Todoroki are about to face off!” Present Mic shouts. “9!”

Jirou smirks. “We won’t need 10 seconds.”

“8!”

Jirou shoots out her earphone jack.

“7!”

She swipes the headband from Todoroki’s head.

“6!”

She pulls her earphone jack back.

“5!”

Tsuyu looks at the scoreboard.

“4!”

Team Todoroki have hit deadlast.

“3!”

Jirou holds the headband.

“2!”

She ties it around her neck.

“1! TIME’S UP!”

Tsuyu let’s out a breath of relief.

The ice is broken through by Kendo and the others, who dismount and run over to them.

“AND WITH THAT THE SECOND ROUND IS OFFICIALLY OVER!”

Tsuyu smiles.

“Jirou!” Yaoyorozu runs over and embraces her tightly. “Thank you!”

Jirou gasps, blushing bright red. “Y-Yaomomo!”

Tsuyu ribbits. She knew Jirou reminded her of Habuko for a reason.

“Now let’s take a look at who our top 4 Teams are!” Present Mic cheers. “In first place, they were the Dark Horses slipping and sliding around in 4th place all game, only to take first in the last minute. IT’S TEAM JIROU WITH 10,001,070 POINTS!”

Komori looks around in awe as more confetti rains down on the arena, reaching out to hold some of it in her hands.

“In second place, they were strong and they were brave. IT’S TEAM TOKAGE WITH 1,430 POINTS!” Present Mic hollars.

Tokage cheers, grabbing Kodai and swinging her around. “We did it girls! We did it!”

Kodai remains blank faced.

Shiozaki holds her hands together in prayer. “I thank the Lord for His aid in our righteous quest. Amen.”

“In third place, they kept our eyes on the skies!” Present Mic calls. “IT’S TEAM HAGAKURE WITH 990 POINTS!”

“GUYS!”

Tsuyu smiles and turns.

And Team Hagakure are flying towards them, with puke on their shoes, scratches on their faces. But their headbands are in tack and they’re smiling.

They crash into the rest of the girls and Tsuyu ribbits happily, seeing them.

“And our fourth qualifying Team simmered, shined and did their best.” Present Mic claps. “IT’S TEAM KENDO WITH 810 POINTS!”

Ashido and Tsunotori grab each other’s hands and dance in a circle, singing completely different songs in different languages. But their laughter is the same.

Kendo puts her hand on Midoriya’s shoulder. “Thank you for all your help. You were great.”

Midoriya stares at her. “B-but it’s my fault Todoroki got us. He has a grudge against me and I don’t know why and I-”

“It doesn’t matter.” Kendo smiles at him. “You helped us keep fighting and you helped us get points in the first place. Thank you Midoriya. You really are awesome.”

Midoriya’s eyes widen. “K-Kendo…”

And then a waterfall of tears burst from his eyes.

“THESE FOUR VALIANT TEAMS WILL ADVANCE ONTO THE NEXT ROUND! We’ll be back after a little break. See ya in an hour sports fans!”

They made it through.

Tsuyu ribbits.

She’s so happy.
