It was a long day. The meeting took more time than Ayato planned for today. There are things that even he can't predict like a servant beginning giving birth in the middle of discussing an important wedding. And as it turned out, the surprise child's father was the supposed groom. At least it was quite the entertainment absorbing the chaos. Ayato at some point started planning out the groom's funeral instead because it was not sure that he would be alive after everything. Needless to say, the wedding was called off.
"One thing less to do for me," said Ayato as he and Thoma walked back to the Kamisato Estate "but it was all waste of my time" a tired sigh left his lips
"You saying this, My lord, but you looked kind of fond watching the situation unfold like it was some kind of theater play of your liking" Thoma laughed.
"You say it like you didn't enjoy it. You live for the drama as much as I am" Ayato looked back over his shoulder with a smug face
"I- I can't argue with that” the blond’s cheeks got a pink tint to them as he reached his hand to his nape.
The Chinjiu forest was beautiful as always. The glowing flowers covered everything making the scenery mesmerizing. Still, something was different today. As Ayato slowly looked around, scanning the surroundings, he noticed something. There was a figure in the river, covered in mud. Ayato instantly recognized who it was and ran there to see what's going on.
"Ayato! Where are you going?!" Thoma, without a thought, started running after him.
The young lord kneeled next to the unconsciously lying body
"What is Itto doing here?" Thoma with furrowed brows looked at the scene before him as he finally got there.
"I don't know, but he doesn't look great" Ayato brought his hand to Itto’s face and slightly began slapping his cheeks “Itto. Itto. Arataki Itto. I will throw beans at you if you dont wake up”
“It doesn't look like working” Thoma squatted on the other side of the body putting two of his fingers on his neck “At least he has a pulse”.
“Oh yes, I should have checked that first” the commissioner was trying to keep it together, his daily life had more stressful situations than this, but right now he was internally on panic mode seeing Itto like this “Wait. I have an idea” his was already digging deep in his coat’s sleeve.
“Don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think that's the best time for a boba tea” Thoma was getting tired of his lord’s bullshit.
“You couldn’t be more wrong my sweet Thoma” as he got the boba out he ripped off the plastic top “This is the perfect time for this boba”
“Oh my god. How long has this one been in your coat?” the smell of the spoiled milk made the blond gag.
“That’s not important right now” he put the cup to Itto’s face, hoping for some reaction, and luckily he got one, Itto also started gagging and finally opened his eyes.
“What the hell is this shit in my face?! Get it away from me or I will throw up!” lovely first words after waking up.
"Thanks, Archons. Itto, are you okay?" it was a stupid question from Ayato. If Itto was fully alright he wouldn't be there.
"Yeah, I'm fine. No need to worry, just a little fall like this won't stop Arataki 'the one and most handsomest oni' Itto HAHA"
"I would like to believe you, but you were unconsciously lying here just a moment ago. I don't think that and 'being fine' can exist together"
"Bro, what are you even talking about, I just told you that I" he tried to sit up supporting himself with his right arm, but with a loud wail he dropped back to the ground "OUCH. Maybe it was more than just a little fall tch tch. Never look down on your opponent my dudes"
"Where does it hurt?" Thoma was already looking through his emergency belt bag.
"My arm, but nothing I can't deal with!" They helped him sit up. Thoma after some searching, he brought out a roll of bandages and tied up Itto's hurt arm, so it wouldn't wiggle wiggle left and right.
Ayato put the injured oni's good arm around his shoulder and started standing up slowly "Thoma, go ahead and make the bath ready"
"No need for it bro, I can just go back home -WOAH when did the ground start shaking" Itto was finally on his feet, but was ready to meet the ground again only if the commissioner wasn't there to support him.
"Nothing is shaking, you probably just hit your head too hard, but I don't think that we have to worry about any brain damage in your case"
"You for real right now?!" Itto reflexively wanted to lean away from the man so he could look at him, but yet again gravity existed and was not on his side at the moment so they almost went back to the start.
"I don't know what you are talking about, but you should be more careful" Thoma was full-on giggling next to them.
"OH YOU PERFECTLY KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, I WILL NOT FORGET THIS. I WILL GET BACK AT YOU "
Ayato looked at the blond and reassuringly nodded at him, not paying any attention to the raging Itto. "Yes my lord" that was the only thing Thoma said before he ran off.
Itto wanted to shout after him, but Ayato didn't leave time for that "I can't let you just go on your way in this state and the estate is much closer".
"But-" the oni's opposing words were cut off when Ayato lifted him to bridal style.
"There is no space for argument. In your place, I would be more focused on taking care of that arm of yours" the only thing that they could hear was Ayato's footsteps. Ayato at some point started caressing Itto's biceps with his thumb. Quiet and soft words left his lips " We don't want it to get any worse than it's right now" the only thing he got for a response was the pout on the taller man's lips. He just smiled at it.
